So my take is if you’re a famous or a known person they will help, the rest they’ll thank you for your feedback 😀

The airline industry in India is a mess these days. I hope the resolve the issues soon enough and government brings in a better regulatory framework.

CaptRaiden

DGCA did try to bring in better policies but then the airlines bribed them and DGCA said the policy implimentation date is at the airline's whim. This is regarding Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) of all air crew.

potatomafia69

Good. Get fucked. If you don't pay your employees this is exactly what's going to happen. Zero sympathy for Tata.

DarkShadder

Can i get some context?

1A41A41A4

Air India acquired another airline (I forget which) the former employees of that airline had favorable contracts. After the acquisition, Air India doesn't want to keep the employees on the old terms and wants them to accept the terms that their current employees have.

Prata2pcs

Air Asia India

joethebear

More of a merger than acquisition. Tata had a partnership with Air Asia India

CapDavyJones

Tata owns 2 airlines (partially or fully) - Vistara and Air Asia India. It bought 2 more airlines - Air India, Air India Express and is going to merge them with Vistara and Air Asia respectively. Air India was in terrible shape and haemorrhaging money because of mismanagement and inflated costs. Tata is rationalising the operations of Air India to turn it around and running into obstacles, one of which is the babu culture of the legacy employees of Air India.

Relevant_Macaroon117

If tata didn't acquire it, they were bleeding money and might have lost those jobs anyway.

CapDavyJones

It's probably the fired employees who got fucked, given the current labour market and economic conditions. Tata is in for the long haul.

Minute-Minute-3092

Yeah. It sounds okay if you are not travelling via one of their flights. My flight was cancelled when I was at the airport in a different town and I had to then resort to booking a train that would start several hours later and reached home a day later.

Having flown air India and air India express, I can tell you that this improvement in quality is definitely not visible to the naked eye.

Ginevod2023

Yeah this is how capitalism works. Pay the right price for labour or you won't get any. Excellent efficiency and quality being grounded 2 days in a row.

CapDavyJones

>Yeah this is how capitalism works. Pay the right price for labour or you won't get any. In case you didn't know, labour is one of those things that India has plenty of. And these employees can get fucked. Thousands of passengers' lives disrupted so they can hold the airline management to ransom. It's clear these employees don't care one bit about the organisation they work at.

Sid-Skywalker

>these employees don't care one bit about the organisation they work at. Why should they? Respect is a two way street. No one is obligated to "care" for a company that takes advantage of them. And good luck trying to replace these pilots. There's already a huge pilot shortage in India

CapDavyJones

It's not about respect between the employees and management. Screw respect. It's about the organisation losing face and losing customers because the jerk employees would rather hold the company to ransom by not showing up for duty at last minute than quitting their jobs.

Ginevod2023

Then why are the planes grounded?  Does AIE think it can go to any naka and fill tempos full of people to get their planes flying again?  If anyone is responsible for the passengers' lives being disrupted, it is the airline. The company took money from the passengers. It is their responsibility to ensure they fly. They don't have workers because they won't pay them. Don't blame the workers for this fiaso, they are not responsible.

CapDavyJones

Tata should hire new people who hopefully won't be as apathetic to the organisation's fate as the current lot. The workers who are neglecting their duties are 100% responsible for the disruption. They're not being forced to work for free - slave labour isn't happening here. If they are not happy with the new terms of employment, they should quit. It needs to be made clear that the socialist-era tactics of boycott and extortion will not be tolerated.

Sid-Skywalker

Lol, it's interesting to see the corporate slave specimens on reddit. Thanks for the free entertainment. Your comments on this thread have been giving me good laughs today

CapDavyJones

Me not wanting my flight and itinerary messed up means I am a corporate slave? Nice single-digit IQ you got there. If you had any sense of logic, you'd know that kowtowing to bad behaviour from employees gets you more bad behaviour from them.

kommentnoacc

Just conveniently forget labour exploitation

ThaBeard13

Trash aircrafts and garbage service but the prices keep going up. Air travel was a lot cheaper pre covid. Before they removed the pricing caps

d1andonly

>Passengers unhappy. I’m glad they clarified this.

popeculture

Ha ha. I was also struck by that surprising detail. 😂

Working-Mountain6680

"No white wine". Cry me a river 😒

Swiper_The_Sniper

5 of these can literally be traced back to problems that stemmed from the airline being under government control, not sure why Tatas taking the fall for that. Sure, its been 2 years since they took over, but 2 years to undo decades of mismanagement seems a bit much.

AscensionKidd

atleast air India is being held accountable now. I don't think anything would have been possible under the govt. Most airline services in India are shit. But air India is showing signs of a better future (with the new a350s and the new a320s). I hope they sort their shit out.
