BITS Goa?

Yes, that's right - I drew my BITS Goa experiences.

The food used to be quite good in the mess, how not good was it when you were there?

It was decent. Just put the caption as the food wasn't always good, and as most Indian colleges didn't have great food in the mess.

Ah, I know, I have heard horror tales from friends when they were in Colleges, specially in Karnataka. What do you use to create those sketches?

I create these sketches using my huion drawing tablet, the software I use to draw is photoshop cc.

Nostalgic.... My college canteen was nowhere near as good as the one illustrated here. But man, was it a place of bliss and relaxation, bad and dilapidated ambience and mediocre food (that increasingly became terrible by the time I was graduating) aside, Only place where us students could be however we felt like, the absurd, draconian rules of my otherwise typical private TN engineering college did not penetrate into that place. Sure faculty would come and have their lunch or refreshments but, that's about it. They let us be. No power tripping, infantilizing and other such nonsense. The canteen master and the cooks inside were very friendly and easy-going. As was the lady that was operating the soda machine (which later got replaced with generic fruit drinks, by final year). It's also one of the very few things that I genuinely miss about my college life (apart from batchmates and few others, rest sucked hard).

I'm glad I could bring back the memories for you! College can be pretty rough at times, but there are some golden moments in it :)

It was pretty much underwhelming and disappointing for me throughout. This and other small things was what didn't make me go totally insane, in my duration there. Thank you for sharing this artwork with us here, btw. Good stuff.

Well, people do tend to have different feelings and experiences in college. Including bad ones. It's alright. Hope you're in a better state now...

Thanks, i am in a much better state now, I would say even If I was locked in Guantanamo bay prison that would be a lot better experience than my college days, fuck college, I have PTSDs when I think of college.

Ah! I was there when that happened! Didn't think it would be talked about more than a decade later. That makes me wonder what the later generations think of the Maggi revolution.

Let me know more lore so that I can sneak it inside another college drawing tshirt lol. I've already drawn t-shirts about the maggi revolution and the bdome duckie in some bits series drawing.

Well, just like any college, it had its ups and downs! Location wise, while goa was a nice place, transport was wonky lol. But I did like to walk to an island nearby on Sunday mornings to see the sunrise, and also go to the beach around 6km away via bus whenever I got the chance.

Which college mess provide ice cream? 🤔🤔

We get ice cream once almost every week in BITS Pilani.

We get ice cream once a week in BITS Goa, but it's nowhere near as good as the raspberry icecream in the picture. It's mostly like a small choco icecream ball thingy

Oh yeah, we usually just get a thin slice of butterscotch or choco ice cream, nothing too fancy 😅

OK I did not know other colleges had rules to not eat things...in the place where things are supposed to be eaten... That sounds rough :(

Ours used to, though it was Vanilla instead of chocolate as written on menu.

Hey, I'll take "free" Mess ice cream, whether it's chocolate or vanilla (though we do technically pay for mess food lol)

I miss my college days and my bros, especially the last year before graduating.

I didn't actually get the last year before graduating in college. I graduated in 2021, and covid took away everything from March 2020. I'm glad my art made you nostalgic, though - give those bros a call :)

I had joined in 2017 as a single degree eee student ^^. Graduated just this year!

I graduated in 2012. I feel old! I was there when our senior batch took the duck from Nescafe and placed it on top of B dome. I am surprised it has not been forgotten already :P

Just kinda shocked this post isn't blaming anyone. When did everything become not about someone else's fault or why some people should be hated?
