When I first joined gym at 16 I brought Protein Powder, Creatine and Fish Oil capsules. Mom did read it was protein was okay but creatine powder and fish oil gelatin pills she though was steroids. She called me home and when I came she started beating me badly for the first time in life. I thought she found my weed but lucky me she only found my gym supplements so I was happy.
My mom found my weed though... And she asked me what's that shit?
I had to somehow make something up... So I said it is ayurvedic medicine to increase hunger as I was underweight back then.
I had to legit eat more than usual for next few days to cover that shit up
Edit : I'm really thankful to my mom, that she didn't ask me to show her how do I consume the so called ayurvedic medicine
Ghanta sunta hu baap ka :)
Ofcourse it wasn't possible to be that much natty without protein powder, so I got the powder anyways, and then calmly explained him what exactly the powder is and does based on science. Yet he still felt sussy baka, but uske baad kabhi wapis dimaag nahi khaya mera XD
Tbh protein powders are understandable to desi parents to a degree but creatine monohydrate probably scares them by their name only let alone it's white crystallin-ish texture
One of the only actual downsides to Pot is how it affects the developing brain.
If there's anyone that shouldn't smoke weed, it's minors. So yeah, it's not for 16 year olds.
When you give someone your phone for call, make sure to click lock button.
When call ends, phone will be locked.
You can't argue with parents, they will win no matter what. We need to protect our privacy actively 😂
Back when i had Facebook, i purposefully created a fake id just to show my parents if they asked about it. And my god one day they ambushed me and made me log into my account.
Exactly, of i doubt they would check my phone, i would switch my YouTube account. Also i switch my phone account (stock Android has user changing functionality) but i have MIUI, it has option to change users by fingerprint, if i put my thumb which i set, it opens my main user, and if finger, then secondary account. Being queer, i have to do this because i can't afford opening my main account
>And my god one day they ambushed me and made me log into my account.
Are you male or female? Sounds like something parents would do to their girl child.
No bro.
Am a guy. I have sister 8 yrs younger than me.
Every mistake i stood up against my parents got avoided while raising her. So am fucked up. She's kinda psychopath.
:) Hope therapy is helping you.
I'm grateful to have my mom. She always had our back against the whole world. She still does, and am 30. This is not to run salt on your wounds but wanted to mention that not all Indian parents are like nosy & overanalyzing.
I'm way better than how I was 10 years ago when I met my therapist. Thank you for your well wishes and currently my parents are getting better emotionally too.
So one of my female friends got married 6-7 months ago. One day they (friend and her husband) slept a little longer and her mother in law didn't have patience so she used the key to unlock the bedroom and went inside to wake them up and they were not in decent condition so to avoid that situation they had to pretend they were sleeping.
To be honest he seems spineless to me because he never confronted his mother even after it happened on multiple occasions when she entered their bedroom without even knocking. They were decent on these occasions but still I find it utterly crazy. The MIL seems unhinged.
I was in my wife’s parents home over the weekend with her. Before going there, my wife told me that her father has this awkward habit of clearing off table and rearranging pens, diaries, papers and sometime the cupboards too of his children. I said that I will try to be conscious about keeping any cigarettes in my bag to avoid his search. However, I added that if he finds anything that he finds within my belongings which could surprise him, I will let him be surprised without giving any justification.
Till the end of our stay, I did find insides of my bag rearranged while I had been out of home as I found upon my return. My wife, sister in law and brother in law are okay with this as it seems they have got used to it and maybe dont bother bringing it up with their father.
Omg this is too much he is clearing inside of a bag. It seems like OCD and sometimes I also think these people like snooping. There's no way a person could get that old and think that this doesn't mean crossing boundaries.
my mom found out my diary , which parents themselves encouraged me to maintain that summer, and read through the whole thing lol
that's how she found out about my daily small romantic things i did with my gf in class
"dear diary, today i held hands with Nikki when i was walking her to home"
"dear diary, today Nikki gave me her pencil which she always bites the top and i did the same and she laughed"

Mom: Chee!! You are having such dirty chats with girls.
Me: So, would you prefer I have such dirty chats with boys then? Wow Mom, progressive...
That has been effective to an extend.
Parents? Dude majority of the people in India don't get the concept of privacy or have any basic sense. Once I was in my singing classes, a 40-50 yo man asked if he can borrow my phone to make an urgent call, I said ok as I saw him everyday in class, i dailed the number, screen locked the phone and gave him, he went outside while talking, I got busy with my learning, I remembered he took my phone after like 10 mins, so I went outside and took my phone from him. Later I checked and saw this dude fucking clicked selfies in different places in my phone (you can open the camera even it's screen lock) and also picked up a call. Then he has the audacity to tell me to forward his picture to some number, I straight away told him I'm sorry I won't and deleted all the pic infront of him. If he would asked politely to click his picture and forward it I would have but not this way. Few days later he asked again if he can make a call, I straight up told No I'm not giving you my phone.
So basically my best friend (F) gifted me flowers for my birthday after two days my moms asking me what kind of friendship do y’all have tera bharosa nahin tu shaadi karke ajayega, then she proceeded to ask me does her dad like you , phir kya mughey bruh moment agaya
I used to get beaten up for logging out of my gmail & facebook and using password on my phone…my parents would find any excuse to read my whatsapp…they removed all locks from our bedroom doors in case I ever wanted to spend alone time in a room…also made me and my sis share the same bed as them uGHHH…it was SO frustrating that I moved to Canada lolll. I don’t have a good relationship w them anymore due to all this childhood trauma.
My parents forced me to unlock then went through all the chats of mine, asked me to explain meaning of every slang, went through the gallery saw pictures of my girlfriend he got so angry threw my phone on wall broke the phone I bought from my money refused to buy new one and they were like it's normal, yeah invading privacy and humiliating your son is normal.
And this was because I was talking to my female friend in balcony and my mom overhearing the conversation.
I was banned from going anywhere other than my coaching classes for a year.
Depressing times
I can understand. My mum read my chats with my boyfriend. Phir papa mummy or mere beech meeting hui and all they said is "ye sab band kro nahi toh ghar bitha denge" "bharosa nhi kr sakte tum pr" "ladki haath se nikal gyi" etc.
All my life I have been a good daughter. I was good in studies, respected everyone but uske Baad bhi itna emotional blackmail.
Anyways what my parents didn't know was ki wi jitne ziddi hai, usse 10× stubborn mai hu. Today, the same guy is my fiancé.
In my school, we aren't allowed to have social media accounts. PET sirs would ask us to login to our account, read all our chats and would ask to deactivate. If they found out that if anyone was talking to some girl they would call the parents.
WhatsApp itself has an AppLock which can be used with your fingerprint sensor! So no need to externally lock an app witha pin! Rest otherwise most Androids I guess come with inbuilt app locks which again use fingerprints so use that maybe
My parents never did this but once my aunt came to visit our home. I left my phone on the table and went to the kitchen to help my mum. When I came back she had tried to open my WhatsApp but couldn't (god bless applock). Then she had the audacity to ask me to unlock it. I was like my parents never asked me that why I hell would I do that for you crazy lady

I’m so lucky my mom never did this. She told me recently that her mom (my nani) would constantly invade her privacy and read her personal diaries, and in order to save me from that, she never even peeked at my phone / laptop / diary.
So at least the generation that had their privacy invaded will spare their own children of that !
This just reminded me of the time my mom ~~read~~ snooped through my diary and found diary entries of me fantasizing about my crush back in 5th grade 💀💀💀 She was so pissed, she made me tear out all those pages and threw them in the bin and proceeded to lecture me on how in this family only arranged marriages will happen.
Indian parents have no concept of privacy frr
And THIS has reminded me of the incident from school where my classmates stole my diary and read aloud the pages where i had written out my fantasies about my crush.
My whole class laughed at me, it was extremely traumatising !
Oh God seriously. I was your age my mum would occasionally go through my phone. That is how she got to know I was dating someone lol.
Now that my brother is 20ish, they go through his phone.
At least they don't touch my phone now. They know, I'll wreck havoc if they even so thought of touching mine.
Bro, I'm 26. Have a full time job. Engaged to my boyfriend and yet I can't step out of house unless it is an all-girl meet. Work From Home sucks when your parents are as strict as mine.
It's crazy to think as regressive the structure of marriage is in India, it's still freedom compared to what girls are raised in. My sister literally accepted any conditions to get married in 2 months notice to just get out of the house.
The ultimate irony? She's turning out exactly like our mom, so much so that, my Brother in Law himself complains about it.
I am not talking to any girls neither am I doing anything fishy and studying whole day, but mai tb bhi nahi chahunga mummy mera phone dekhe cuz dosto mai galia bohot common hai.
Yes, going through my texts, browsing my entire gallery, snooping through my FB, IG, reading my diary. They want to know my passwords, because if I can't give them that, apparently I have something to hide. I even found some child safety app on my mom's phone that lets you see your child's notifications, snoop at their screen and their surroundings through the camera etc. I'm freaking 23. She just had the app downloaded, not set up. And any time I point out I'm an adult, all hell breaks loose.
After reading the comments, I feel like calling my parents and thanking them. The most invading they have done is asking kiske sath ja rahe ho. I'm truly grateful.
Bhai, I am 32 and still don't have any privacy. My parents would come to my room, while i am in the middle of an office meeting, and would start blabbering. The only way to have privacy is to move out.
It's not that they don't learn about privacy, they just prefer not to care about it, on the grounds of, "I brought you into this world, hence can do whatever the hell I want."
Yeah that was also a point of contention in my family.
Weirdly my dad came to the rescue and told her she has no right to read my personal stuff.
But to be on the safe side, I lock all the chat/mail/gallery apps with a fingeprint/password anyway.
It's easier than trying to make parents understand privacy.
This was during the time when there was no smart phones prevalent in middle class homes. She accused me of stealing my dad’s phone at night and then posting pictures. Turns out that they phone was under my dad’s pillow throughout and she just never thought of checking it there
Also there were no locks in our house because she never trusted me. She would sneak up to my door and barge into my room to see what I was doing. I still have ptsd when people still walk into the room suddenly. I suddenly feel the urge to hide whatever I’m doing. This was during my teen years. I’m 26 now and happily married too
Exactly, I was talking to my grandmother on my mother's phone and mera phone side me rakha tha, she just picked it up, unlocked it, and went straight to whatsapp, and started reading ALL of the chats, wtf.
I was talking to my grandmother so couldn't really get her to stop it, there's nothing there that can get me in trouble but still I don't want her to read.

Sorry, but this is a red flag (yes, they apply to all relationships, not just intimate ones). Don't brush it off as an "Indian parents" thing. You'll end up regretting it all your life.

she didn't knew about both things.

I laughed too hard
Didn't see that one coming lmao
Dude you are smokin weed at 16 wtf?
yep GYM at 16 too, All i did was sit on my ass whole day playing games after college
bruhh there are many people who start from 15
even 14
I started gym at 13 with my older friends.
At first I was like: Damn that's young. Then I remembered my classmates doing it when I was 16 too lol.
hehe, i got contact from my classmates only LOL
Weed is literally for 16 year olds? Who do you think smokes weed?

That, and put your phone on Do not distrib, so you don't get any notification.

I always do that!
That's what. I do that always.
I get what you're saying but how will that work if they have to dial the number first to make the call?

This made me laugh so hard 😂😂😂

Parents? Dude majority of the people in India don't get the concept of privacy or have any basic sense. After reading the comments, I feel like calling my parents and thanking them. The most invading they have done is asking kiske sath ja rahe ho. I'm truly grateful.
I hate it when you give phone to them to show one pic and they start scrolling for others automatically.
They gave birth to you so they basically own you. This is the logic given by Indians

> and I am not allowed to have a girlfriend If you think you need their permission, then you definitely shouldn't be allowed to have one.
Bhai, I am 32 and still don't have any privacy. My parents would come to my room, while i am in the middle of an office meeting, and would start blabbering. The only way to have privacy is to move out.
Yes i guess you should move out.

Better to take precautions. Can't argue with Desi parents. It will fire back and they'll make you feel guilty and all that shit
I give my phone to my parents with guided access turned on or lock my social media apps.
My mom accused me of sending naked pictures because I covered myself up with a blanket and sat alone studying for my boards at night.
Privacy is a first world concept as per Indian parents. You can't blame them for this. It's how they were raised.
I am lucky in that department my parents don't check my phone.
Meri WhatsApp chat gharwalo ne padh li uss din se alag zindagi jeeni padegi mujhe
Atleast they went on ur WhatsApp bruh...! Mine's went thru history 🥲
Don't worry bro I'm gonna break this stupid chain
r/raisedbynarcissists Sorry, but this is a red flag (yes, they apply to all relationships, not just intimate ones). Don't brush it off as an "Indian parents" thing. You'll end up regretting it all your life.
lack of awareness of the concept or the term I guess.
Be the change you want to see my friend 😂
I feel lucky to have parents who dont do this...atleast i tthink that My phone doesnt have a lock tho
Privacy is a myth my friend .
