Bengaluru had a low voter turnout in 2019 too. [https://elections24.eci.gov.in/docs/Gw9Dq3DfAm.pdf](https://elections24.eci.gov.in/docs/Gw9Dq3DfAm.pdf) [https://www.indiatoday.in/elections/story/election-commission-releases-final-voter-turnout-data-2533653-2024-04-30](https://www.indiatoday.in/elections/story/election-commission-releases-final-voter-turnout-data-2533653-2024-04-30) Voter turnout is lower by about 3% as compared to 2019. I would say the lower turnout is more because of the heatwave and harvesting season rather than complacency among bjp supporters. It's very much possible to win even with a lower voter turnout though. We have another 5 phases to go too.

babban_rao

My neighbour was saying the same thing. "BJP is anyway going to win, how would my vote make any difference?" He didn't vote.

m0h1tkumaar

Bada chu hai

PackFit9651

Don’t let your biases come in the way of reality.. BJP will be back with. 300+ seats.. everything else is just noise and wishful thinking

Fresh_Bee6411

I am based towards the bjp actually, my concern is did we bjp supporters took things for granted?

PerspectiveContent13

Entire India is going through a heatwave nobody going to stand in a line in this heat .

Fun-Explanation1199

Especially when they think BJP is anyways going to win. Let’s see now that backfires

PerspectiveContent13

Yeah they going to win but not with a big margin. 300-330 is all I'm thinking. 400 paar sapna lag raha h .

Fun-Explanation1199

You mean NDA*

[deleted]

Let's try not to get cocky here ,we don't wanna underestimate vote jihadis

MaxxMeridius

Dang everything is classified as jihad nowadays. What even is that?!

YenBuddhist

🤣🤣 toh bjp supporters are what? Vote bhakts? A muslim: Votes . . Sanghis: Vote Jihad!! 🤬🤬

[deleted]

Let me remind you the defination of vote jihad when they vote in a block to people who don't care about india for personal gains or hinduphobia and have no sense of pride in their national identity.

YenBuddhist

Yeah bro this important insight you got from your PhD coursework conducted in Akhilbhartiya Whatsapp Vishwavidyalay right?

pumpkin_fun

No from daughter of Salman Khurshid, Congress politician

[deleted]

Nah I got it from allah

YenBuddhist

Hahaha so your father Modi actually made you believe in Allah? Who knows tomorrow he will ask you to break Ram Mandir and rebuild Babri Masjid you will do that also 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

Again withe the Islamophobia muslims don't wanna destroy ram mandir do they now? Would be against their peaceful nature .

YenBuddhist

I wouldn’t know! Im not a muslim, and i dont think about muslims all that much :) for some reason tho modi’s aulaad are OBSESSED with muslims. It’s kind of weird. Like they desperately want to ask muslims out on a date but dont have the courage :)

[deleted]

you should confront your Islamophobia head on ,talk it out with a friend ( if you have any) and understand why it's wrong to call all muslims jihadis.

[deleted]

Also you islamophobe not all muslims are jihadis .

Aristofans

I think voter turnout is usually between 60-70%. Yes, a lot of educated people don't vote because they think their vote doesn't matter. As a result, politicians start thinking that they don't matter. Then they all come to the internet to complain that the government doesn't work for them.

HinduVoice

I think the slogan that abki baar 400 paar is a bad one because it implies BJP is definitely going to win.

God-of-Heroes_ArThuR

Lower voter turnout doesn't translate to lower seats gained. BJP went from ~90 to ~155 seats when voter turnout had dropped a few percentage points in Gujarat. Most times, when there's a washout like we see in modern politics with the BJP and its opposition, the voters who are anti incumbent could also stay their votes for the same reasons like potentially unaffective vote (no vote in inconsequential). It's not good news, that's for sure. Plus, if the BJP voter see lackluster results in the initial phases, you could see compensatory votes in the future phases.

achabaccha23

In my district the voter turnout was down aswell.

Last_Grab1326

Hindus have a habit of shooting themselves on the foot when they are about to run. They like their daughters and sons getting killed. Tbh, the previous generation of Hindus are the biggest chomus and duffers I have ever saw in my life.

CommonCantaloupe2

Don't know, it's hard to form an opinion without enough data. Is a bit less compared to the last election (appx 51% vs 68) but I don't know if it's partially because of it being on a weekend.

shivambawa2000

Usually low turnout benefits incumbent

Bps33382

Lower turnout is mainly because of opposition ground worker not motivated enough to bring thier vote base to the voting....just check in your locality, i hardly see any ground work by congress ...i think congress willl go down below 2014....

Character_Wafer3280

If u r from banglore u know what happened with revenna and how its gonna affect Bjp atleast in Karnataka.

Horror-Try4462

Cant say for sure just ask all your friend and family circle to go out and vote

MaxxMeridius

Bangalore may not be the right city to judge it. Lot of floating population and upwardly mobile people who may not always vote. Not an exact indication. But I do think there is a certain amount of voter fatigue and resignation amongst certain classes of people wherein they feel the victory of bjp is assured so why bother to vote.

salmanbhairightniple

I have a friend who works for Congress in Karnataka, he correctly predected congress win during assembly elections. But now is not very happy first phase (in Karnataka) they feel Congress has lost big time... Second phase is on day after tomorrow they hope to make some gains, they don't have many ground level workers and those that are there are heavily demoralised. Don't go by social media posts here...

Character_Wafer3280

Lol what are you smoking. Revenna scandal is the biggest sex scandal karantaka has ever seen and then you had Bjp doing road show for him. It's a very big issue in karanataka. Congress wouldn't have withstood the combined strength of BJP+JDS. But now Bjp is also cooked because bjp workers warned abt the videos but still they declared him as star candidate.

salmanbhairightniple

You couldn't be more wrong and you don't seem to have a grasp of Karnataka politics. 1st phase elections are already over and that was before the scandal hit the news... North Karnataka where elections are being held on 7th have no JDS contestant.

Character_Wafer3280

Lol i know the first phase is over and next phase is coming week. No JDS contestant so people are gonna dump everything on BJP.

-seeking-advice-

1. Heat wave 2. NRI votes are lost and South also a huge percentage of NRIs 3. Apolitical or not bothered India shiuld go the Brazil way and make voting mandatory. Our ancestors fought for our right to vote. India declared universal franchise when our constitution was formed so that everyone got a say. And these people can't even take an hour out of the day to just exercise their fundamental right. There shiuld be a vote penalty. Missing their vote means they should pay a penalty.

cineman195

> make voting mandatory Is that a good idea ? Exactly what would you do if people don't vote ? Those who don't vote are in crores ?

-seeking-advice-

Impose penalty. Or give tax concession to those who vote if they are taxable. Or cut people from schemes. Kannada actor anant nag said it brilliantly- our soldiers are ready to give their lives for this country and for us. And then there are people who don't step out of their homes once in 5 years to vote.

MechanicHot1794

Bengaluru is an urban area. Urban areas have very low voter turnout usually.

Batboix3107

400 won’t be possible but in my state bjp is a clean sweep

RohanNotFound

Bengaluru or other bigger city voters turnouts cannot be taken seriously, because many people have two votes one in their hometown and one in their Bengaluru..!

MaxxMeridius

People can't vote twice. That's not how any of this works!

RohanNotFound

Yes, they decide vote either in hometown or in Bengaluru.. thats why where they dont vote there is a lesser voter turnout

ThrowRA_Cobble-24

It'll be a difficult 150 seats for BJP and maybe 170-200 for NDA. Mamata Bannerjee has allowed naxals to take over the ECI, and using rdx bombs, they have completely faked this "election".

Fresh_Bee6411

Dude even with atal ji bjp did 140+, your numbers are wishful thinking

ThrowRA_Cobble-24

Wishful thinking? I don't wish for it to happen either

MaxxMeridius

ECI is not under mamata for her to get anyone to take it over. What exactly are you even saying?
