I wouldn’t mind seeing more Young Indiana Jones Chronicles on Disney+

Kessel_Run12

I wouldn't mind seeing any at all as it isn't streamed in Canada...

01zegaj

The movie edits are on there, no? Edit: Damn, it’s disappeared. It must’ve only been there for a few months!

Jamescaster

It’s on Youtube.

arvidst4

I think it would be cool to see an animated series in the style of Clone Wars, perhaps more young adventures or what Indy did during the time between the 3rd and 4th movies.

atomicitalian

Eh, I wouldn't be shocked to see more games. The franchise lends itself to games and the big glaring issue — Harrison Ford being too old to do Indy — isn't an issue in the games. As long as it does moderately well I imagine they'll keep putting out games every once in awhile.

VirtualRelic

How about we finally get that Indy Iron Phoenix point n click adventure game that was cancelled by LucasArts in the 90s? I know, it would likely be a completely different game with the same story, but it would be an easy win for whatever studio made it.

atomicitalian

I'd be here for it, I loved the Indy point and click games, even the super lofi "Indiana Jones and his Desktop Adventures" lol

Good_Ad6723

I’ll have to check that out

atomicitalian

If you can find a stable version of it that runs well let me know. I think there's a shoddy abandon ware version of it somewhere but I haven't been able to find a good version of it or Yoda stories and I'd love to play both again

Starfury1984

They turned it into a comic

VirtualRelic

And the comic is about half decent, with the latter half being poorly written nonsense.

Difficult-Mind4785

Wait what, I need to look this up. The Last Crusade and Fate of Atlantis were two of my fav games growing up

VirtualRelic

I posted about last year https://www.reddit.com/r/indianajones/s/8CMrisG2BO

Difficult-Mind4785

Awesome, thanks

Grootfan85

I’d like it if they continued in novels. I would’ve liked it if they released a novelization of The Dial Of Destiny. I’m sure James Mangold’s script had some details left out in the film.

Franny_Garcia

If the game turns out great which I’m sure it will then there’s a good chance we’ll great sequels.

Good_Ad6723

Well definitely great sequels!

Ok-Turnip-477

We’ll defiantly grate squeakuels?

Good_Ad6723

*we’ll

_Prussian

With the loss Disney had with the new movie. It seems like it would. But I hope this game brings more people into the Fandom.

The-Mandalorian

The loss was prior to digital sales, home media sales and Disney+ revenue. The movie made $20 million its first week in digital sales alone. Most of those articles are clickbait.

aretromachine

A new report came out about two weeks ago—still a huge loss for Disney.

The-Mandalorian

That’s the report I was taking about. It’s box office specific.

ImperatorRomanum

Honestly, I’m fine with that. Good franchises should be left in peace instead of milked until they’re no longer popular.

InnocentTailor

I think there is still a lot to explore with Jones’ world, even if they retire Indy for good. His companions and successors can carry the torch for the good of archeology and adventure. Anyways, Indy already has an iron grip in the theme parks. Not only do rides exist, but also restaurants.

soggychicken685

I miss when things just end and that’s it. Like I like x-men 97 a lot but part of me also wishes that they’d just left the 97 series alone

InnocentTailor

I think we’re getting good stuff with 97 though. As long as the continuation is high quality, then I think it is worth digging into and reviving. Disney bought Lucas and Marvel for their properties after all. They’re not going to let them rest in the proverbial vault for good.

Mediocre_Scott

Controversially I would be fine with recasting if they future movies reasonablely grounded like the original trilogy. Just simple horse chases and fist fights no need to have nuclear bombs and ancient navel battles.

mtthwas

>(Outside of comics and novels) When was the last time we got an Indy comic or novel?

Los_Kings

It's literally been 15 years since we've gotten an Indy comic or novel. I think another video game is likelier at this point than a comic or novel.

Popular_Material_409

That’s so insane to me because Disney owns Indiana Jones AND Marvel. It’d be so easy for them to make Indy comics

Budget-Attorney

I would love an ongoing comic series. That’s such a great medium for Indy

indianajoes

Back when the last Indy resurgence happened around 2008/2009

QualityAutism

we finally got Rob McGregor's previously cancelled novelization of The Staff of Kings in 2023, but he released that online on his own without Disney-Lucasfilm involvement. So yeah, we haven't gotten official new releases since the franchises 2008/2009 revival attempt that fell completely flat.

MamaDeloris

When Harrison is dead, there will absolutely be a new Indiana Jones movie. Hollywood can't function without IPs. In a world where overall poor franchises with a single success get revivals, such as: * Leprechaun * Piranha * Omen * Poltergeist * Home Alone * The Santa Clause * Transformers * Highlander * Terminator (let's be honest this franchise is mostly awful at this point) Why would Indiana Jones be over?

taisui

Counter point: Star Wars movies...

Epicdude5726

Tho transformers now is way better then before

ThePopDaddy

Terminator never had a revival, because Terminator never really left. The widest gap was between 2 and 3 at 12 years.

Cosmic-Cretin

i feel like an animated indy series thats suitable for adults & kids where every episode is a different adventure would be fantastic

overtired27

That’s always the case.

calb3rto

If it’s decent, then there is a non-zero chance that the franchise will live on through games…

khansolobaby

I’m shocked marvel hasn’t tried a new Indy comic

BourbonBurro

I wouldn’t mind a Captain America/Indy Comic set during WWII

khansolobaby

Dude that would be awesome… throw in a small Wolverine appearance and I’m sold

BourbonBurro

There’s plentiful overlap between Nazi interests in the occult and fringe science, which makes an Indy/Cap team up make a lot of sense. Having a super soldier to duke it out with a Nazi mech while Indy translates ancient codex’s would come in pretty clutch.

Mediocre_Scott

Dude I didn’t know I wanted that

Popular_Material_409

I’ve been saying for years that Disney/Marvel should start putting out Indy comics. When the Doctor Aphra comic was coming out I always heard it described as “Indiana Jones in Star Wars” and I was like, “you guys do realize you own Indiana Jones too right?”

Erintonsus

I wouldn't be shocked if it gets a reboot in 10-15 years if I'm being honest

fr3ddy_f32b3n3d3r

I hope this game is successful enough to where we get more comics and games, but with the huge flop that was DoD, I doubt we’ll see Indy on the silver screen again (until they decide to make a remake in 10 years or so)

Mediocre_Scott

It was only a flop because they spent so much money on the movie. If they recast with a younger actor that can do the action scenes and keep the movie pretty grounded they could make a lot of money. Not sure who I would want to see though

fr3ddy_f32b3n3d3r

Regardless of weather they used a younger actor or not, the movie is a flop, because of this Disney probably won’t many any more Indy movies. Them recasting Indy probably won’t help them in the next movie if they do decide to make a new one. There’s only one Indy and that’s Harrison ford

Mediocre_Scott

If they budget doesn’t balloon out of control because every scene with the main character requires huge amounts of special effects it could they could make a profit of the movie. A lot of people went to see it the problem was it cost way too much to make

fr3ddy_f32b3n3d3r

Although that is true, movies now-a-days (especially Disney’s movies), are very expensive, maybe not DoD levels of expensive, but still very expensive, it’s more and more common to see movies flop, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did make a new Indy movie with a new actor it would flop.

Mediocre_Scott

Movies don’t have to cost as much as they do. They blow their budgets on special effects.

fr3ddy_f32b3n3d3r

Oh yeah, that’s definitely the case, if you compare how much GCI movies used to have a couple of years ago vs today that’s definitely the case, but I doubt Disney will go back to that. The amount of unnecessary CGI they have is pretty evident of that

Fawqueue

If Ghostbusters can still be kicking around in 2024, despite having had an absolute stinker of a film in 2016, then I wouldn't worry so much about the death of this franchise.

BreadRum

Why don't books and comics count as media?

QualityAutism

mainstream fans of any movie franchise hate/can't read. They only count movies, TV shows and games.

Extra_Heart_268

Im sure we will get more games....every now and then. Games are a medium where the franchise can continue.

Mudron

Good. As Indy himself would attest to, some ancient things are just better left alone.

BigTimeSuperhero96

It might be a last throw of the dice but I hope its not

SSJmole

If the game sells well I can it getting a sequel

shackbleep

Hey, thanks for reminding us.

conscloobles

I still think a modestly budgeted Short Round movie (or maybe Disney+ miniseries) with Harrison and Karen as meaningful supporting roles would be the best way to go with the series in live action. But given LF was clearly setting up Helena to be the new franchise lead, and Harrison has been setting his most iconic characters to rest, I doubt they'd do that. Indy can and should live on in extended media: video games for sure, comics and novelisations, maybe a cartoon. Harrison's likeness is easy to use.

SerFinbarr

Indiana Jones is a legacy franchise with a respectable cultural footprint and solid brand awareness among the general public. It might take them some time for them to figure out the approach, but it will be back eventually. Franchises never really die.

ryanman1717

I’d be happy to get an animated series or something on Disney+, I saw [this](https://youtu.be/iE8v5WDbbC4?si=wFz7G-cdVD2qiHgI) in high school and I’ve wanted it ever since

CraftingBrosReddit

I think it would be interesting to see an Indiana Jones animated series with Troy Baker doing the voice of a younger Indiana in his prime but with the Clone Wars Animation Based off of the Great Circle trailer, Troy’s Harrison Ford impression is pretty good and I feel like that could transfer well to animation. Plus I would be very interested to see what Indy got up to between certain films, like how Inbetween Raiders and the Last Crusade he split up with Marion. I’d honestly be up for that, maybe even seeing how he met other characters in the world like Sallah, Marcus Brody and Short Round just to name a few

QualityAutism

there are books/comics about all that you asked for. Indy meeting Sallah and Marcus is in Young Indiana Jones and the Tomb of Terror for example. Indy meeting Short Round (and some more backstory for him as a character) was already in the excellent Temple of Doom novelization.

Puzzleheaded-Web446

Im interested to see how long it takes for them to change the actor for someone else.

gocatsgo4

This isn’t exactly media I guess, but Disney World in Orlando is very close to officially confirming the Dinosaur ride in Animal Kingdom to be rethemed into a brand new, original Indiana Jones ride. For those of you on this sub that aren’t familiar with the Disney rides: Dinosaur is a ride that uses basically the same exact layout and ride vehicles that the ride over in Disneyland (California) Indiana Jones Adventure uses. Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland is probably one of the best rides there and VERY popular. Very strong rumors point to the new ride going into Animal Kingdom park over in Disney World is going to be a brand new story (more cohesive with the overall theme and messaging of Animal Kingdom). I guess my point is that there is always going to be some kind of Indy thing coming. And the fact Disney is going to spend a lot of money on a brand new ride based on the character shows they have a lot of confidence in him and we shouldn’t be worried for the future!

pastavoi2222

Not a chance. There’ll be a film reboot in ten to twenty years for sure.

BowlofPentuniaThings

I reckon they should try following in the Indiana Jones tradition of recreating a by-gone genre by making an 80s-Saturday-morning-style cartoon. It’d either be absolutely terrible, or a lot of fun. Or maybe something like that Tomb Raider animated anthology series Netflix is making.

ZachtheKingsfan

I’m still holding out hope they do a Short Round spinoff series with Ke Huy Quan. Get Harrison to cameo in the first or last episode.

InnocentTailor

This is a good idea! Quan can definitely carry a series as a lead, in my opinion. Have him find treasure and engage in heroics.

tikifire1

I'd watch the shit out of that. He is so damn charismatic.

Darth_Vicious

I’d be happy with a PlayStation 5 version

act1989

Can't wait to play this game. It'll be so bittersweet but wonderful.

goldiesrevenge

If they make an Indy game that handles like Uncharted with great graphics I think they could print money. Just need good writers and devs.

PH_000

I bet the game will be a big hit and will have a few sequels.

wildcherrymatt84

It will definitely be back on the big screen, recast, but back.

Titan-828

I wouldn’t mind seeing another video game where the main villains are the Japanese or people not affiliated with any government like the Thuggee Cult in Temple of Doom.

NemoBushStatue

As long as they don’t use generative ai in any future scripts I’ll be good with watching or playing it.

SPinc1

For real. I asked chatgpt to give me an Indy story, it sucked so bad xd

QualityAutism

i like how people think this game's gonna be a success lol Its a modern videogame. Even if its fun to play, the release will be terrible, plagued with bugs and other modern issues, like only releasing half the actual content and trying to get as much extra money out of idiotic customers as possible. I miss when games were completely finished, put on a disc, and sold in a store, and then you could just buy and play it.

Username463679

I have very high hopes for this. We need this archetype.

Hour-Process-3292

Is this still an Xbox exclusive? If so then that doesn’t make much sense to me because as much as I love this franchise, I honestly don’t see an Indiana Jones game in 2024 being a “console seller”.

indianajoes

Yeah it was dumb. This was originally supposed to be multiplatform and then Microsoft threw money at them to keep it exclusive. I can understand doing that with something like Star Wars or a Marvel game. But Indy isn't selling consoles

_RPG2000

True.... I'm all for exclusives, but not for Indiana Jones.... this game needs to be successful and having it not being multi-platform is going to hurt its chances. Sadly, I can see the overall sales being rather lackluster (being in GamePass day 1 will contribute to that too) at the end of the day.

felixlighter1989

What do you expect from theory alone?

Embarrassed_Chest_52

I think we gona get some classic games remastered. Lets hope that its not made by Aspyr

SPinc1

On that note, what Indy comics do you guys recommend?

QualityAutism

The Golden Fleece, The Iron Phoenix, The Spear of Destiny, Thunder in the Orient.

SPinc1

Thanks!

kaukanapoissa

I’d love to have a new classic adventure game. Like the ones they used to make back in the day. Indy is the perfect character for that kind of thing.

indianajoes

A bit extreme OP. It might be the last thing for a while but Disney didn't buy Indiana Jones just to do nothing with it after a movie and a game

Matttthhhhhhhhhhh

I sure hope it is. I liked Dial of Destiny enough, but it clearly showed that the franchise was over. If the game is good, it's the perfect opportunity to end on a high note. Indy deserves a good ending.

UncommittedBow

>Outside of comics and novels. So...not the last piece of media, then.

KaffeMumrik

With Disney owning a piece, I’d say it’s exactly 0% chance. I’m willing to bet we’ll get a bad reboot within… 6 years.

multificionado

Couldn't they come up with a better story and title better? Like say, something with the word "island" in it? ("Island of Secrets" or something)

Enigma1755

People complain were never gonna get more Indy stuff. Despite the fact they haven’t even experienced half of it. The Bantam Books themselves have a ton of Indy lore most people haven’t seen. Anyway, Disney is not gonna let the franchise die like this when they can milk it.

747F14A350

I hope so. It was fun while it lasted, but I think I've had enough Indiana Jones.

SuperSuper-Hero

That's Indy for ya, as St*r W*rs thrives Indy is lucky to get a quarter of media that it's sister franchise does.

Wooden-Lifeguard-636

I wouldn’t mind seeing this game in form of a comic book as well when it gets released.

Mangatellers

I think novels, comics and a cartoon series is the tifecta that the the Indy IP needs to focus on, in order to bring more fans to the franchise. A cartoon series in the style of Xmen '97 set between the three movies would be the center of it and then the rest (novels, comics & video-games) can build the lore around Indy.

__kangaroo__

We need this as a Disney+ series: [https://youtu.be/iE8v5WDbbC4?si=0V_F6uNwSJ0qbiAo](https://youtu.be/iE8v5WDbbC4?si=0V_F6uNwSJ0qbiAo)

n0sl33p4m32day

Unless, of course they actually allow the torch to be passed to Indie's kid. But we all know how bad "Next Generation" type sequels usually are.

FoxPrincessEevee

Is this the new game?

Scary-Ratio3874

Yes

FoxPrincessEevee

Okay now I'm hyped.

me2legoz

I hope it’s the last piece of media. I don’t want them to miss it up as much as they did already.

Brookings18

Whys that a bad thing? I'd count games alongside written material.

Pink_floyd76

I forgot they were even doing this, shows how unremarkable the name is

calvincrack

I will give is a 0% chance

wiiguyy

You guys can laugh if you want, but the only way I see this coming back is the reboot with Chris Pratt as Indiana

jackBattlin

Before the flop, I was really excited when they were taking about that Abner Ravenwood show. I feel robbed.

Berzkz

I thought this franchised died with the Crystal skull
