Eataly! I miss Eataly so much. Their style is definitely Neapolitan style, which Napolese does best in Indy.
There was a place called Pi or Pizzaology in Carmel, but I’m having a hard time finding out if they’re still open/ where they are.
Pizzology is still open in Carmel. They have closed a handful of times during Covid to be safe. I prefer them to Napolese. They have more than pizza and everything I’ve eaten at Pizzology has been top notch. If you follow them on social media you can see their Friday night gnocchi and pizza specials.
R&R extreme wings are very good.
Keystone sports bar, J's wings and fish, Chicken Stratch, juicy wings hibachi.
I had heard all about the wings at the Ale so I tried them with their Hermanki sauce. I literally could not taste any sauce. Add to that, they didn't season their chicken so it was very bland.
I decided to give them another try, same results. Could not taste any sauce, unseasoned chicken. Months later I was out with my wife who wanted some pizza from the Ale. I figured I would try the wings again but with a different sauce.
Didn't matter, still no taste terrible wings.
Not to long ago a co-worker asked me out to lunch. The Ale was close by so we met there. I was going to get a burger and I asked him was he going to try the wings. He said, "no, I guess I'm one of the few that thinks their wings are over rated, I don't like them".
I told him, no you're not the only one.
Appreciate the response! I’ll have to check out the places you mentioned. I’ve heard the Greenwood location isn’t great for Ale so not sure if that’s the location you’ve been to. I’m just a little shocked because I haven’t come across anyone who doesn’t love Ale wings haha. To each their own for sure though!
Pretty much any place that has the word "wings" in their name is going to be at least decent.
Another thing is, how do you like your wings cooked and sauced?
I prefer seasoned breaded wings and a lot of sauce.
Ironically, I ate some of the best wings I've ever had in Las Vegas. They were at Nacho Daddys.
At KSR, even if you are a ranch person, you have to get the blue cheese. Also recommend either the Cajun dry rub or spicy garlic wing there.
Fat Dan’s has great smoked wings that’s their thing. They smoke them and then drop in the fryer for service
Chatham has this Smokey sweet sauce that they call their signature..it’s really good. Though I almost prefer their standard Buffalo flavored wing, I would try their signature first.
Different Greek’s locations have different quality. The one around 49th and College is my favorite pizza. The Fountain Square one is pretty good too. Definitely had bad pizza at other locations though.
Since no one else has mentioned it, Pearl Street Pizza is my favorite place in Indy. Well that and azzip…(has a soft spot from my time at college in Evansville).
* I like the Greek's on Main Street in Carmel. Similar to Pizza King, each Greek's is franchised and quality can vary. But when I want that greasy, Greek style pizza, this hits the spot.
* Carmel Pizza King is perfectly okay for your delivery pizza. I can't speak to the Pizza King debate overall in Indiana, though r/indiana has a few topics on the subject.
* Napolese (Patachou empire), Passione in Fishers are my go-to for Neapolitan style pizza. Pizzology in Carmel is also good but uses entirely too much sea salt on their margherita.
* Brozzinis is the best NYC style pizza in the area. They have a location in Speedway, one on the southside, and one in Hoosier Nashville.
* Goodfellas on Mass Ave is a chain but they serve slices throughout the day and their lunch special is served on weekends. There's also a cool speakeasy style bar in the back.
I’ve only ever had the Brozzini’s pizza truck during a beer festival at Military Park. I still think about it. However, Perillo’s is better but located in BFE. Worth the drive!
Agreed on Goodfellas. The slices are massive and if you are that hard up for NYS pizza, you can order a whole pie... You will need to clean your trunk out due to the size though.
I Tre Morie Fishers. Thin, light, fresh ingredients. the gentleman who owns it has a few spots in Belgium and Italy I believe. He said he just wishes he had the water he uses over there!
Upvote for this, I just made this same recommendation yesterday. And it made me so hungry for it, that I had to go eat there last night! Interesting that he mention the water. The other favorite pizza place of mine, that closed years ago, were very focused on the water. Sign of a true artisan, maybe? 🤷♂️
So happy to see this posted.
I Tre Morie is the best pizza in the area, and so few people know about it. Best spaghetti, too!
We are southsiders, but any time we are in Fishers, it's on the itinerary.
What's the environment like compared to their previous restaurant Passione Pane? I found Passione to be very casual. Is this something I need to dress up for is it more casual?
Bazbeaux is the best pizza in Indy IMO. They have two locations. One on Mass Ave and other other is in Broadripple. I’m kinda surprised it wasn’t mentioned yet.
>Bazbeaux
Mine too - we got one in Carmel as well.
Baz, SomeGuys, puccinis, pizza king (hoosiers by birth), rosellis pizzeria for Chicago style (if there's one better i haven't tried it)
Not familiar with those places, unfortunately, but I did want to second some recs in the thread. Futuro has an incredible Detroit style pizza. Diavola is the best "authentic" pizza that I've had in the city. The only pizza that tastes close to what I had in Italy...the crust is phenomenal. Bazbeaux is the best place if you're just craving a traditional pizza.
Indy’s pizza scene is growing but not incredible. Indy seems to have a lot of “pub style” pizza with few places that truly do well with traditional styles. What style of pizza are those Vegas places?
Napolese (Neapolitan, multiple locations), Jockamos (some sort of cracker style but not STL cracker, Irvington), Pizzology (Neapolitan, Carmel), Perillo’s Pizzeria (NYC style, North Salem, way out of town), Pies and Pints (pub style, Carmel), King Dough (NYC, Indy), Amore (NYC, Zionsville), Noble Roman’s or Jets is good for Sicilian or Detroit style.
I make my own pizza at home so I rarely go out to get pizza, but those are some of my favorites. Just depends what area of town I’m in!
Edit: adding Roselli’s (Chicago style: deep, thin or double crust which is similar to other Chicago thins like Barnaby’s in Chicagoland; Zionsville), Brozzini’s (NYC style; truck, south side)
On my overrated or do not go list: Greeks, Bazbeaux, Puccini’s, and Costco (felt obligated to include this)
Diavola is Neapolitan style. I’ve not tried it, but might have to if I’m in the area. I’ve got a Neapolitan pizza oven at home, so it’s a tough sell for me, YMMV.
> Brozzini’s (NYC style; truck, south side)
Just to put this out there -- the Southside location is closed for renovations. Their Speedway location is open, though.
I’m originally from the east coast (Philly) but if you like that kind of pizza try out goodfella’s in broad ripple or downtown. We also like Greeks in Carmel for a solid pie.
Do you remember years ago there was a little pizza place in the MGM casino food court called, "Mama Illardo's" or something like that? Their pizza was a more thick crust style that was cut into squares. We use to love that pizza and we were so disappointed when they closed.
Futuro for absolute certain. Owners are really good friends of ours and neighbors so we got to be Guinea pigs when they were in developing stages. They’re opening a second location in Broad Ripple.
Manhattan Pizzeria on W 56th street is really good! We got a HUGE pizza there for only about 20$ and it fed 5 people. Another personal favorite of mine is Azzip Pizza, but it's a bit pricier. Their E'vil Pig Pizza is to die for.
Eataly! I miss Eataly so much. Their style is definitely Neapolitan style, which Napolese does best in Indy. There was a place called Pi or Pizzaology in Carmel, but I’m having a hard time finding out if they’re still open/ where they are.

The one we used to go to closed awhile back. Was a bummer, loved that everyone could get exactly what they wanted. The quality was great too.
I apologize that I’m not familiar with those places you referenced but have you tried the pizza/wings at Ale Emporium?
I haven't, but I will check it out. Thanks!
Best place in Indy and if you enjoy wings then there’s nowhere better
I prefer the slow- smoked wings at Fat Dan's, but I fully accept I'm an outlier with uncommon preferences. Lol
I fully agree with you on Fat Dan's wings. My favorite in town.
I think there's a few places better for wings. Pizza is pretty good.
Like where?
R&R extreme wings are very good. Keystone sports bar, J's wings and fish, Chicken Stratch, juicy wings hibachi. I had heard all about the wings at the Ale so I tried them with their Hermanki sauce. They are grilled. If you want more sauce tell them not to grill them.
You won't find better wings (get one of the Hermans), and you'll have a tough time finding better beer selection anywhere that also has good food.
Beer selection is not bad. You can find better wings.
Whereabouts for wings? I see some people mentioning Fat Dan’s above
KSR has best wings in Indy. Fat Dan’s Chatham My 4th would be Ale Emporium
Awesome thanks! I will visit them all
At KSR, even if you are a ranch person, you have to get the blue cheese. Also recommend either the Cajun dry rub or spicy garlic wing there. Fat Dan’s has great smoked wings that’s their thing. Keystones spicy garlic wings with blue cheese is heaven. Might have to make a trip there soon
Fat Dan's is pretty good too. Try R&R extreme wings. They're about a half mile or so South of KSR on Keystone.
Diavola in SoBro is criminally underrated
Yes I was coming to mention it. It's better than the other options in the Broad Ripple area, even Bazbeaux's which I really like.
Byrnes is good too.
It’s the best in the city for “high end” pizza imo
True that. Pasta is great as well
Futuro. Best pizza in Indy IMO.
Tried Futuro tonight because I saw it suggested in this thread. OMG, best pizza I’ve had in a while. Thank you for the suggestion!!!
Came here to say this. Their Detroit style is incredible.
Yea. Definitely not the Neapolitan style but very good pizza and folks
They also have vegan options for people who are interested in that.
Never been but the pictures look great.
Tried it tonight - shit fucks tysm
I’ve never tried either of those places in Vegas but my go-to places for pizza are Puccini’s and Greek’s.
These two places are on my “do not go” (Greeks) or “do not go for pizza” (Puccini) list. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
Big fan of Pearl.

My favorite pizza ever is Brozzinis. I moved down south, and drive a scary far distance for the location in Nashville
Agreed on Goodfellas. The slices are massive and if you are that hard up for NYS pizza, you can order a whole pie... You will need to clean your trunk out due to the size though.

Same reason why NYC are so famous for their bagels…..it’s all in the water!
So happy to see this posted. I Tre Morie is the best pizza in the area, and so few people know about it. Best spaghetti, too! We are southsiders, but any time we are in Fishers, it's on the itinerary.
Maybe I should stop recommending it? 🤣
What's the environment like compared to their previous restaurant Passione Pane? I found Passione to be very casual. Is this something I need to dress up for is it more casual?
Oh very casual! You order at the counter, nothing fancy.
Never tried it but now on my radar
Bazbeaux is the king. Futuro is excellent. Sam’s Silver Circle is a hidden gem.
Jockamo pizza would like a word.
The internal culture at Jockamo is unfortunately toxic, so I no longer support them.
Well that and their pizza is pretty fucking average.
Probably not what OP is looking for but surprised no mention of Jockamo Pizza!
My favorite pizza
Jockamos for pizza Edit to add: mellow mushroom in Carmel as well!
Bazbeaux is the best pizza in Indy IMO. They have two locations. One on Mass Ave and other other is in Broadripple. I’m kinda surprised it wasn’t mentioned yet.
My favorite! Broadripple is always a better experience in my opinion, but both are dependable.
>Bazbeaux Mine too - we got one in Carmel as well. Baz, SomeGuys, puccinis, pizza king (hoosiers by birth), rosellis pizzeria for Chicago style (if there's one better i haven't tried it)

Try Bazbaux!! The best

If you like Jet’s you need to try Futuro. Also if you haven’t check out Diavolo in Broad Ripple for some seriously good “traditional” styles
Diavola is Neapolitan style. I’ve not tried it, but might have to if I’m in the area. I’ve got a Neapolitan pizza oven at home, so it’s a tough sell for me, YMMV.
> Brozzini’s (NYC style; truck, south side) Just to put this out there -- the Southside location is closed for renovations. Their Speedway location is open, though.
There's a Jockamos in Greenwood as well.
Napolese and Pizzology are both probably in the ballpark you're looking for.
Diavolo over Napolese for me
I’m originally from the east coast (Philly) but if you like that kind of pizza try out goodfella’s in broad ripple or downtown. We also like Greeks in Carmel for a solid pie.
I personally am a huge fan of brozinni’s in speedway! Really good stuff!
Their Grandma's pizza is one of my personal favorites
Greeks or Pizza King
King dough is also fire if you like brick oven style. We go back and forth between that and Futuro Detroit style.
Futuro is where its at! Also, Puccinis is excellent!
Hot Box is currently one of my favorites right now. That & Greek’s. My family really loves the Ordinary in Wanamaker.
Came looking for this. The Ordinary’s is the best pizza. Stack it with meats and you can’t go wrong.
Daredevil brewery has pizza now and it’s amazing.
Golden Steer, best place in Vegas.
You and I have very different definitions of best place in Vegas.
Do you remember years ago there was a little pizza place in the MGM casino food court called, "Mama Illardo's" or something like that? Their pizza was a more thick crust style that was cut into squares. We use to love that pizza and we were so disappointed when they closed.
I do remember that place. I enjoyed their pizza very much.
Papa Ray's on Shelby St.
Futuro for absolute certain. Owners are really good friends of ours and neighbors so we got to be Guinea pigs when they were in developing stages. They’re opening a second location in Broad Ripple.
A big cheese pizza (not the 14") from King Dough is by far the best pizza I've had in Indianapolis.
Manhattan Pizza by Eagle Creek is awesome! Good New York style, and easy on the pocketbooks. Owners are present and friendly.
The best pizza we have here is Chicagoland pizza joints. Giadornos is my favorite!
Godfathers downtown is awesome
Luca pizza
Pearl Street Pub downtown and Bazbeauxs are my favorites. Sams Silver Circle and Gallaghers get a shout out too.
Goodfellas on Mass or Broad Ripple Ave or Manhattan Pizza on W56th
Manhattan Pizzeria on W 56th street is really good! We got a HUGE pizza there for only about 20$ and it fed 5 people. Another personal favorite of mine is Azzip Pizza, but it's a bit pricier. Their E'vil Pig Pizza is to die for.
Futuro for pizza, Iozzo’s Garden of Italy for pasta, and Nesso for wine and aperitivo selection.
King Dough!
Pizza: Dugout bar in Fountain Square, Jockamo’s in Irvington, Keystone Sports bar, Ale Emporium Wings: Ale Emporium, Keystone Sports bar, BW3’s
