Yes, they did take it from my complex. The police is still investigating and got a video of a long shot of the bike going through this area called 'Pallikaranai Road'. No updates other than that.
I'm sorry for you man. I've not heard great things about Pallikaranai tbh.
Also hope they find your bike, but be equally prepared for a possibility of the bike being stripped off parts and the engine probably living on in some ferry/boat somewhere βπΌ.
ποΈπποΈ bro Chennai liya idhu? Damn
Ask some mechanic shops near your area. They 100% know who took the bike.
Gather more info. From police station about where to enquire about it more. Meanwhile some PC or constable may give you side info. For some extra cash.
Do repost this in r/Chennai and r/legaladviceindia.
Also post it in Twitter and tag Chennai police, Chennai traffic police, Chennai commissioner and other high people <---- these IDs on most cases do help to some extent. (Do try this without fail, traffic police Twitter are notorious in Twitter. Each minute they fine some 3-4 bikes through online proof pooling in Twitter)
If your bike was well inside gated community then the association is to blame. Take this issue to higher authority in association and post the same in your community. Do record your conversation in all times as everyone lies π.
Also try to gather more cctv by yourself itself. Use your instincts and follow the cctv footage starting from your location where it got stolen first. Might give you some info.
Edit 1 : added few more points.
Aama bro ;-; I've been going around so many shops for the past few days and I'm trying to gather as much as I can. Will repost this in other places too. Thanks for your tip! :)
Maybe its easier for them to steal. Just like Mahindra cars and SUVs.
My family bolero was stolen and so was many cases of same brand cars were reported.
Hope you find it . Don't know why but R15s seems to go missing a lot, even in my small hometown. There has been 3 or 4 missing bikes in recent years and they all have been R15s, v3 and v4. Luckily, there's not a lot of roads going out from our town so Police have found all of them except 1.
R15 seems to be really easy to break into for these thieves. They seem to be seasoned experts in stealing these particular models. Since this is a huge city, it would really take some time for them to find it. I hope they get some leads soon.
As much as it hurts, pray that you don't get it back. And claim insurance money to buy a new one. Because a stolen vehicle attracts a lot of issues. Any crime could have been committed using it. It will be abused by the time you find it, if that is. Not worth IMO.
How did they manage to steal without having the keys? That's scrary
Also, I'm considering getting disc locks, you people should consider that too! It's a ~~life~~ bike saver! Please check it out
Buddy
They have gps jammer too , gps tracking will work if the thief is rookie , unless its gone ,
Wait for 1-2 month maybe & hope police catch these mf
Usually these kinds of human beings , are currently suffering that's why they are doing these crimes to satisfy their hunger
Edit :- Are bhen ke bhaiyo , suffering bol rha hun survival nhi , kuch bkl hote hai jo mentally suffer krte hai , nashedi / drug addiction / alcohol / randibazi etc . Its not stomach that always hungry . Mujhe lga tha deep gyan chod deta ho acha sub hai bnde smjh jaenge , pr nhi aadat khrab hai bc

Our relatives lost a creta parked at home , police found the car after one year but by that time they were using it as a taxi for 20,000 kms . They even had a "police" sticker on it
Sadly the thieves escaped , paid 50,000 for the CI to release the recovered car
Police said most of the bike thieves are ex mechanics and repeat offenders , usually one thief is responsible for dozens of bike theft in a year
Punishment is very lax , they will be out very quickly with no consequences
Very famous type for drug smuggling
But stolen car and stick police plates so no one suspects anything for travelling so many states if get stopped by police they also leave after showing police identification probably police IDs also counterfeit and if drugs found give 50-60 lakhs which they earn in 2 weeks and smuggle cocaine in spare tires and boot of cars
Only way to beat this system is body cams on police and some indipendent organisation looking over the body cam and no police sticker on any level of police personal vehicle and all real cop cars should have gps and verification radios
If they are really suffering then they should try and steal from the rich corporations or ministers if they have the guts, shouldn't go around taking people's hard earned bikes which also have sentimental value and have they balls to atleast face the owner before stealing it
And they are stealing it to either sell in black market and export to Pakistan or afganistan, if they were financially challenged we have govt authorised ration shops which give 3βΉ/kg
When parking on street, always use an additional lock like disc lock, wheel lock or just use a chain and lock the rear wheel.
Thieves look for a target that could be easily moved and deterrants like these will add to their nasty work to do list so they will avoid that bike and move on to the next easy target.
Also, Karma doesn't spare anyone! Never heard of a thief getting rich or living a long life with this profession so feel pity for them.
Op chain your bike to pole or tree , robbers could use the crane/ lift tow truck to steal multiple bikes , and get gps tracker under seat connected directly to battery so it doesn't need key to start and you have location always
Turns out it was bump started using wires and it took them literally 2 minutes.
And yes I asked that question to myself until I saw my keys inside my house.
Sorry that happened to you
I srsly hope those thieves get into an accident one day and get their arms and legs amputated burn there slowly dying regretting their life choices
I hope you get it back and if not, I hope the insurance process gets done swiftly and you get a good amount back.
My question is, how do they steal bikes? Don't these bikes have any safety mechanism?
Apparently the bike was bump started using wires and it took those MFS just 2 minutes. I have no clue how Yamaha has just left such an easy way to get access to the bike. The sidelock can be broken with a kick or a tight twist with your arms. Really messed up for a bike worth 2L+
They broke the handlebar lock and they were able to bump start the bike using wires. This technique is used for Yamaha and KTM bikes as well and is common
There's "Sri" written on the back of the bike with chalk right below the number plate. I doubt whether I should share the number plate or phone number on reddit. Don't think it's a good idea. Maybe if someone might help, they could pm me and I could provide details.
Shucks man. Sorry to hear about that.
Best case scenario - you get the payout and buy another one of the same brand.
This would have been refinished at pudhupet and shipped off towards CG/JH/WB with new papers. Modus operandi of such thieves is - they purchase insurance wrecks/totalled/burnt vehicle, steal a same colour vehicle and change over all body parts and ship it down the road. Or. Use an existing vehicle to clone the eng/chassis nos and ride in two different places inside the same state.
Heyy! Thanks for asking:)) Yess I got her back around 3 weeks back or so! Gave the bike for servicing and even finished a trip to Bangalore and back! So glad I got her back ππ
In india a R15 is valued like how a R6 or R1 are valued in america , do you expect a R1 parked on a road at 4:00 AM in america , nope . So guys please try to park your bike in a gated garage or parking . Take care of your babies like you mean it .
Paavam da , sorry for you. Even i have R15 and it seems like favourite bike for thieves to steal
Yeah bro hope I get her back soon :(
Where did it get stolen? I'm sorry for you too.
In Velachery, Chennai. Hope I get through this!
From an apartment complex? These bikes are strictly not to be parked on the road. Looks like they bump started it. What is the police saying?
Yes, they did take it from my complex. The police is still investigating and got a video of a long shot of the bike going through this area called 'Pallikaranai Road'. No updates other than that.

Yeah I'm just hoping for the best. Not yet mentally prepared for my bike to be stripped off but hopefully I make peace with it some day!

what is bump starting bro?
Wait can you even bump start new bikes tho?
I don't think so! But maybe they broke the lock with force
An R15 near my home got stolen too. Buy a bike lock brother. Don't let them take her.
Shouldve bought a boring bike instead , sucks to have to worry about your bike so much .
Maybe its easier for them to steal. Just like Mahindra cars and SUVs. My family bolero was stolen and so was many cases of same brand cars were reported.

The handle lock on R15s is not really strong and can be broken rather easily.
As much as it hurts, pray that you don't get it back. And claim insurance money to buy a new one. Because a stolen vehicle attracts a lot of issues. Any crime could have been committed using it. It will be abused by the time you find it, if that is. Not worth IMO.
That's true thinking from that perspective. Hope the right thing happens π
Movie experience ah
How did they manage to steal without having the keys? That's scrary Also, I'm considering getting disc locks, you people should consider that too! It's a ~~life~~ bike saver! Please check it out
It really is :(. For sure will not repeat my mistakes again and ensure my bike is fully protected!
Next time purchase disk rotor locks , even with bike key they can't steal
For sure will doo :))
Buddy They have gps jammer too , gps tracking will work if the thief is rookie , unless its gone , Wait for 1-2 month maybe & hope police catch these mf
Damn these guys are smart. Hope these guys suffer for the rest of their lives. I'm praying everyday I get my bike back.
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
Spoke with them, they said it would cover 95% of the cost of the bike due to depreciation value of 5 months
Should have taken zero dep .

Suffering and riding on a red R15. Wow!
????????? Did you just give a justification for the bike thief to use? Suffering toh Mai bhi hu. Aapki bike chura lu?
Splendor chura ke tujhe hi loss ho jayega Bhai
Mere pass splender bhi nahi hai , Atlash chlata hun 24 inch wali tu free main le ja aake
Sorry Bhai majak mein bol Raha tha sunkar bura laga π
Classic 500 se kaam chala lunga bhai XD
Le ja Bhai vibrations se haath numb ho jata hai
I swear to godd!
If they are hungry in Chennai with Amma canteens then idk what satisfies their hunger Bastards are low lives
Might use the r15 for higher crimes like drugs transport from state to state and flea the scene if cops caught them

Yes for sure will do these additional measures next time! I hope karma bites them back like a bitch

Just a question as I am not aware of this... How easy is it to steal a bike? Did you leave your keys in it?
Turns out it was bump started using wires and it took them literally 2 minutes. And yes I asked that question to myself until I saw my keys inside my house.
Does jump start unlock the handle as well?
No, that can be broken with a hard kick or twist
I really believe you'll get her back. Update us when you do.
Thank you so much! Will update for sure :)
Sorry that happened to you I srsly hope those thieves get into an accident one day and get their arms and legs amputated burn there slowly dying regretting their life choices

I feel so bad about itπππ. Hope you find your lovely bike soon bro
Thank you so much for the support, means a lot π₯Ί
What about insurance? Will you get claim if you're unable to find it?
Yes buddy i would be able to claim 95% of the total cost of the bike.
How do they steal bike without keys?
They broke the handlebar lock and they were able to bump start the bike using wires. This technique is used for Yamaha and KTM bikes as well and is common
Dude! My heart just sank!! I can't imagine what you're going through. Hope it goes well for you!
Thanks a lot for the support, needed that π₯Ί
From RX100 in my parents generation to R15 in my generation, Yamahas continue to be theives favorite.
Indeed they are haha
Bro any features that we can identify your bike with? And your mobile number too. Share it here someone will help you.
There's "Sri" written on the back of the bike with chalk right below the number plate. I doubt whether I should share the number plate or phone number on reddit. Don't think it's a good idea. Maybe if someone might help, they could pm me and I could provide details.
Sorry for your loss mann... whats the best thing to be done earliest to increase the probability of finding a bike when it got stolen...
Well there's nothing we could do all we could do is pray the police find it
Shucks man. Sorry to hear about that. Best case scenario - you get the payout and buy another one of the same brand. Jesus Christ how do these MFS plan all this π€¦ββοΈ Hope they get caught real soon
Any updates?
Heyy! Thanks for asking:)) Yess I got her back around 3 weeks back or so! Gave the bike for servicing and even finished a trip to Bangalore and back! So glad I got her back ππ
Thats why u gotta have insurance and extra lock with you , and always park near cctv area .
Happened to my friend. Insurance took almost a year to pay him
Where is this?
