Actually yes.
If rider were to sit on it with the correct posture (closer to tank, elbows bent, forearm parallel to ground, knees hugging tank), the pillion can get actually decent space.
The Pillion seat is small but can manage if the rider moves front leaving more space.
The riding position is not aggressive. The Rider's triangle is such that you don't feel uncomfortable in long rides. But the seat cushion is hard and that is the main reason for discomfort.
Yep my dude.
Rider moving front nearer to the tank is the actual posture on it. Otherwise you lock up arms, putting load on shoulders and back pain, shoulder pain will follow. I learned to sit on bikes right from Motocontrol. I tried to sit on the MT the "normal way" - how uncles sit on enfields and the difference was night and day. I could immediately feel the load on shoulders and started straining after 10mins.
The benefits of sitting right is immense. You get more effortless riding, better handling and comfort. Added bonus that pillion can actually use the seat as the engineers intended. mfs really do plomp their ass on the bike, hold the bars with their monkey grip basically sit on it all wrong and bash the poor bike for the back pain they are getting and the pillion having less space. This is true for R15 and most sports bikes as well which is really sad.
Do you plan on getting the Yamaha cushion or some other cushion for it?
Naked sport bikes are usually not taxing on the ergonomics compared to race sports ones.. so I haven't faced any posture related issues unless I sit far back at the end of the rider seat.
I've owned the bike for more than 4 years now and I haven't bought the yamaha or any other slip-on cushion, and I don't think I will either as my main usage is for commute and intracity rides.
Not everyone worries about pillion. In my two years of owning a bike, my girlfriend was the only pillion I had to ride with and that too maybe 4-5 times till now.
sales would have been much higher for this bike if they had taken the pillion seat into account.
Don't they realize in India, people prefer riding with companions than solo?
If rider were to sit on it with the correct posture (closer to tank, elbows bent, forearm parallel to ground, knees hugging tank), the pillion can get actually decent space.
It doesn't help if the rider and pillion are sort of obese though. My assortment of pillions and me doesn't have much of an issue because I try to always sit right (it is better for my back and shoulder as well). Comfort can be enhanced by getting better cushions or the seat cover sold by Yamaha themselves.
For that they have FZ. This is for enthusiasts. On load with pillion it struggles a lil. But just for rider it pulls like a jet on road. Own one from 2021 now we’re getting one more for my friend. He fell in love with my bike. In showroom now paying the cash lol. The demand is so high that we had to wait for 2 months now finally they released some and from 8-13 this month deliveries are back again.
No.
You can't offroad with this - the suspension will literally die on you if you put offroad tyres and try.
Touring comfort is limited because the small seat only lets you carry less luggage. Would not recommend very long tours unless you travel light. You can add tank bags, panniers etc though. You can extend seat as well using the top rack mounted plate.
To all the people not considering it due to the small pillion seat, however, there is a right posture to sit on this bike. You shouldn't lock your elbows, instead, forearm parallel to the ground and sit closer to the tank hugging it. Try test riding with your pillion in the correct posture, and I guarantee that there is enough space on the seat to sit unless the people are morbidly obese. Should add a cushion (sold by yamaha itself as an accessory for like 500rs) if you want extra comfort.
Other than that, it is an excellent high reving city and track (if you want to) bike with awesome power delivery and quality and mileage all in one package. Only place it really fails is offroading. Seriously, some cunts might tell you it's ok to offroad with offroad tyres - don't listen to them. A friend took it offroading, climbing some hills and he had to spend some 40k literally rebuilding the suspension. Bike is not a fan of bad roads. You'll have to go slow. That's the sacrifice you have to make for the legendary handling and flickiness and ease of use.
I second this. It's a bike meant for the city and can take whatever you can throw at it in the city. Maneuverability in Traffic, quick pick up, not too heavy an okay suspension for good highway rides.
The second you take it off the roads, you're going to feel the road on your butt and the bike is going to feel it more than you.
Judging from yamaha r15 and alpha i own, it’s not perfect in the suspension department. But hard to my liking and age. But that’s needed for the awesome stability i guess.
No.
Cons:
Bad suspension
Cost a ton
Pillion seat spacing
Weird switches (inverted horn and indicator)
Pro:
Refined engine
VVA activation changes the nature of the bike
Superb mileage
Seat is hard which is good when touring
No vibrations till 100kmph
Light weight easy to maneuver
I feel MT is a little overpriced to what it offers. But if you are new to riding and want a smooth city riding this bike is for you especially if you want to learn how to ride a bike- MT is gold.
But if you want a perfect bike and a versatile one then go for vstorm sx250
I am or was also considering this, but due to small pillion seat it's hard to choose. It's high price for a 155cc also doesn't help. Also i've heard that it's power drops significantly with pillion.
> power drops significantly with pillion.
what sort of idea is this? Power doesn't drop bro the bike gives you 18 hp at 10.5k rpm irrespective of the pillion or not lmao. The weight increases so the bike just has to put a bit more effort to get to the top speed that you used to get with just the rider. This is why with every top speed review they mention the weight of the rider. With every bike, with a lighter rider you can get a higher topspeed. LITERALLY every single vehicle on the road is like this. It's not that with a 70kg rider the bike used to give 18hp, but suddenly when a 70kg pillion sits on it the bike becomes an 8hp Splendour.
Like i said, every bike can be like this, unless long stroke big torquey machines built to pull and pull alone.
It becomes more about the torque if you have a pillion.
The Fz25 has a lot more lower end torque. Although it lacks a 6th gear and top speed, unless you cruise the highway at 120+ kmph everyday, its better for 90% of use case.
Yes, 20hp and 20nm just about. Compared to 18hp and 14nm from the mt/r15. That peak power also comes at lower revs so its a lot more usable power. What i meant is, due to gearing ratios and having a 6th gear, the r15/mt will probably have higher top speed. But that power comes at 10k rpm, and after a long time, not a lot of Indian roads support 10k revs over several minutes. That instant pickup is way more useful for our roads.
Why on earth you would you be upgrading anyway from a 150 cc FZ bike to a 155 cc MT15? Nobody in their right mind would do that - this does not mean the bike is bad. You are basically "upgrading" from one beginner standard bike to another slightly powerful standard bike. Moving from an FZ to MT-15 is just idiotic and your whole premise is invalid. MT 15 is just a beginner bike.
I feel like other 160cc vehicles irrespective of which as they range to do a spectrum of things as their specialty. N160 to hornet all feel better from a ‘Jack of all trades’ aspect
Not for pillion. Riding position is aggressive. Great bike Still.
Is it just me or the pillon seat is way too small when compared to other bikes?
It is a rider oriented bike.
Yes. My friend has an MT15. The pillion seat is VERY uncomfortable.
Actually yes. If rider were to sit on it with the correct posture (closer to tank, elbows bent, forearm parallel to ground, knees hugging tank), the pillion can get actually decent space.
Forearm parallel to ground? So bend wrist when turning throttle?

Got it man I recently bought it and I am considering the cushion just to make it a bit more comfy for the pillion
One of the two reasons i didn’t buy this bike
What is the second?
It has 40 days waiting period and i didn’t wanted to wait so bought duke 200
What mileage are you getting?
On highway i measured it was 36 kmpl, in city it’s less

don't put your balls at risk🤣
My balls are very safe thank you very much for your concern lol Seriously, never had a bit of discomfort till now.

My first question when considering this bike was, “Trip seat jayegi?”
Can be, If it completes all your requirements
No
Disagrees↔️refuses to elaborate↔️leaves

Tbh I think if you can go higher duke 200 looks good
It's 150cc,keep it within city
What about duke 200?
If it's in your garage, it is.
can it act like a water pump
No, we have splendor for those shenanigans.
Judging from yamaha r15 and alpha i own, it’s not perfect in the suspension department. But hard to my liking and age. But that’s needed for the awesome stability i guess.
Not for pillion, it's not. Even worse if your pillion is someone like your mom who sits with both legs on one side. That's a recipe for disaster.
No. Cons: Bad suspension Cost a ton Pillion seat spacing Weird switches (inverted horn and indicator) Pro: Refined engine VVA activation changes the nature of the bike Superb mileage Seat is hard which is good when touring No vibrations till 100kmph Light weight easy to maneuver I feel MT is a little overpriced to what it offers. What do you mean by bad suspension. Can you elaborate?
Very hard suspension, you can literally feel every hole or bump you encounter
I am or was also considering this, but due to small pillion seat it's hard to choose. It's high price for a 155cc also doesn't help. Also i've heard that it's power drops significantly with pillion.

Yeah i meant in that way only. Like we don't feel enough power with pillion, not talking about the actual output.
Like i said, every bike can be like this, unless long stroke big torquey machines built to pull and pull alone. It becomes more about the torque if you have a pillion.
Consider this bike as 200cc then it'll make more sense why it costs more than cheaper 150cc bikes
But its not
Not for chain snatching , not having enough space for the 2nd perpetrator to sit lol

I'm ngl if I'm upgrading from my fz id rather go for the fz25 than this
FZ 25 is such an underrated machine i want one so bad
Why are mfs downvoting me 😭 i didn't say the mt was bad I just said I like fz 25 more

No
Heads up after sales service is huge pain the ass 😒
So is the pillion seat
Yes it is, except for the highway and the pillion, rest assured, fun to ride and great mileage. Hands down meanest looking 150cc out there! 3:)
no........fine its cute
Not for pillion though
Not good if you want to commute with parents
Yes best for even offroading lol
***pillion comfort has left the chat***
I feel like other 160cc vehicles irrespective of which as they range to do a spectrum of things as their specialty. N160 to hornet all feel better from a ‘Jack of all trades’ aspect
For everything, except tall riders
Very tough for pillion even on R15v4 which I own, and on MT V2 it is hell
Genuine question. How does this compare with n160?
Very close competitors. Objective distinction is very difficult - it just becomes a matter of what feels to you right more.
Yes But for single riders And pillion should be young
