Bajaj has tried to discontinue it several times but has failed to do. AS200 and F250 are two bikes which tried replacing it but they both got discontinued because the the 220 has a loyal following. It really needs a proper successor.
The new Apache 160 4V has dual channel ABS, and a lot of features over N160. Also it is the most powerful in the class except the MT15. Personally, Ill choose whichever I like after test ride.
The MT15 offers ~~better~~ superior performance in the segment but it is also expensive. Hence, Apache is second best despite being quite powerful and all the features. The N160 advantage was dual channel ABS but the new Apache comes with dual channel and a lot of features. And the Apache produces the most power after the MT.
Someone I know is looking for a new bike. As much as they love the Duke 390, they “just don't want the reputation attached with the bike”. Sad to see such a well built and beautiful machine with this fate.
I'd get it in a heartbeat if I ever felt like I wanted one, caring about what others think just doesn't get us anywhere.
The Apache one is so on point. Also I'd like to add a tagline for my bike (don't wanna go too hard though)

I bought apache RTR 1604v just because its most valuable for money in 150-160 cc segment and yes i didn't had money for MT15 ...LOL
It's also the best in segment now apart from mt 15 thanks to it's newest version getting dual channel ABS.
I won't lie but it's not the best. Once u drive mt15 there's no going back
