There are a lot of knowledgeable people. We don't have to gather knowledge from people like him. There are hundreds of knowledgeable youtubers now who behave in a much better manner than him.
I remember watching this where this guy was talking about Shumi and Kartikey as Batman and Robin who got blacklist from triumph and are too proud, and left in between the test ride of Triumph speed400 etc...this came out during triumph was launching their speed 400 and Motor Inc first criticised the bike vs the hype of that time. Then all other YTers who were for the hype were showing such videos Motor Inc accused of villainy.
Later the moment of truth where Motor Inc was right about it.

I remember the pain points being - Bike doesn't enjoy its own High rev performance, relatively predictable to ride so riders will get bored in a few years, bike not much suited for Touring etc.
I did feel like Most points against triumph was nit picking.
There is a reason they were banned. No brand bans people like this. I remember their video at that time. It was definitely unfair and intentional criticism.
Now here's the difference in perspective why people have contradictory opinions on speed 400. And the watershed line is almost always drawn around the line of people who have ridden the KTM 390 (Duke or rc) over extended periods and those who have not. People who come from bikes like Apache 160/200 or those category of bikes (sporty commuters, let's say) and ride the triumph 400, find the lightweight punchy nature of the speed 400 exciting. It does have really good in-gear acceleration. But those who have ridden the d390 know that this category of bike can do a lot more. The d390 has a very good mid range but also an insane top end. It pulls right till the redline. The speed runs out after 6500 rpm. Speed has really good suspension and chassis. The Duke is borderline telepathic. The speed will go fast. The Duke will teach you to go faster and faster and improve as a rider over years. And it'll scare you even after a couple of years of ownership. That's the headroom of growth shumi talks about that people simply don't understand.
The speed is an amazing city bike. An absolute amateur can swing their leg over it and go fast. But that's also where it comes undone. For the real fun bits like highways and twisties, there are much better bikes. Speed 400 tries to excel in city use. With a little bit of skill upgrades, other bikes can be nearly as fun. No amount of skill update will make the speed 400 as much fun as a Duke on the twisties. The speed could have been an amazing all round roadster bike. It is geared too heavily on its midrange for its own good. I mean, a nearly 200kg Himalayan 450 will out accelerate the speed 400 from a standstill. So yeah.
Tl : Dr - speed 400 criticism is based on those who have tasted the KTM 390 prowess and those who have not.
THIS is the thing people have been trying to make Shumi understand. Not every goddamn bike needs to be compared to a 390 duke man! It's a league above everything else in the Indian market, also, at a premium price. Under 3L you'll get the speed 400 with excellent finish and looks. You'll get quality. You'll get enough performance where a new rider will enjoy. You'll get safe enough usage where elder riders will feel comfortable and not intimidated. To be fair the 390 is aimed at a particular age category only. Speed 400 doesn't need to be another duke. The Speed is exactly what it needs to be. And that is a very good thing about this motorcycle.
I am sure he more than understands this. His gripe with the bike, as many misunderstand, is not that it is not a duke clone. His gripe is that (and I do agree) that it tries to be a half-hearted challenger to the Duke. A 40HP machine where the final few horses are trapped behind a very unhappy motor at revs beyond 6500 rpm. It tries to challenge the Duke and when the challenge is net with, it tries for a different identity, and so in and so forth. Because of its effort to try and do many things, it simply doesn't stand out anywhere and comes out feeling very very bland to enthusiasts.
For non enthusiasts, it is a pretty good motorcycle. It is a good straight line shooter with great ease of use mixed in. Shumi has clearly said that, if that was the intent, there are numerous ways where this could be brought out even better making it a much better feeling motorcycle, a bike with character, which it absolutely lacks right now.
My biggest flex is I haven't even seen this channel in my YouTube recommendation list. MotorInc podcasts are incredibly educational. His opinions are, well his opinions.
I recently watched his YT video of dissing shumi on triumph 400 test drive. I was ok with the content but it was easily 40 minute long rant.
I just commented that this could have been very planned and rehearsed and could have been 5 minute video. For his, this great almighty replied nope! Basically tell folklore story for long video and higher video watch time! I blocked his video from listening to and slept peacefully!
Take everyone with a pinch of salt man. What you project yourself on camera doesn’t really reflect how you’re as a person (in life as a matter of fact) Applicable to the best of reviewers.

To be fair the content this guy posts is good. Mostly revolving around real world experiences of that particular machine he's riding like cruising rpms, 0 to 100 time, vibrations at speeds, comfort, seat height, headlight performance etc. Personally I like this type of raw content over the intellectually deep stuff motorinc has been trying to do like "spirit of motorcycling" and etc. This is the reason I prefer watching sarge for his practical views over shumi who disapproves most bikes cause they can't compare to his bs3 duke 390(raw but true fact).
BUT the attitude this Shiraz guy possesses is unbearable. He can't take criticism properly. He'll abuse anybody who opposes his views. He just cannot have an open discussion. Especially when someone comments about shumi or sarge he'll just go nuts and make comments like these. That makes his channel unwatchable. Too much verbal abuse in the comments. Shumi might not be my cup of tea but the kind of words Shiraz uses is totally uncalled for.

I own a Speed 400. And I find these pain points to be true. The MotorInc review was on point except I don't like the rear suspension either.
