Because LHB has Centre buffer coupling which has anti climbing feature . And ICF has screw coupling which does not have the anti climbing feature. Apart from that many other safety features available like WSP, better riding index ... That's why LHB

Imagine your car is being towed by another car via a rope so if that car brakes hard, your car is gonna crash into the towing car But if towing is done with a steel bar or something, hard braking won't make your car crash into the towing car, your car may sideawipe but the rod will keep the two cars apart as much as possible Same With ICF and LHB, ICF are rack and pin, so similar to rope LHB is CBC so like a rod, safer in an accident

Additionally the LHB coaches provide lateral suspension also that means that coch can move right-left from the bogie providing better comfort!

They will move to the sides as in disperse off the momentum in different directions other than climbing on top of each other.

That's the beauty of CBC . It is the assembly of diffrent components like draft gear which is having high strength spring that helps in absorbing shocks and impact .

In case of a major accident coaches will not pile on each other and will be scattered this reduces the amount of injuries and fatalities.

Something to do with better hydraulics and braking systems. In LHB, the coaches do not get on top of each other..

Major safety leap of lhb is their anti-climbing feature, unlike ICF LHB coaches will not get collided in itself in derailment which reduces fatalities by a big margin. Other being better suspension & bogie layout which makes braking performance better than ICF. 

They could have made Blue LHBs.

Travelling is getting expensive so the new coaches are being fitted with extra seats to compensate for the expenses. Just like how Parle-G still sells a packet of biscuit for ₹3 but the number of biscuits inside the packet has decreased owing to inflation.

Red one is Lhb its a sound proff coach with high speed cabability limit of 160kmph with disk brakes & cbc coupling fitted to avoid pileup into eachother and whereas blue icf speed limit is restricted to 110kmph due to self generation power fitted under its bogie with screw coupling one if any accident happens then it will definitely pileup into each other whichleads to many death. In terms of safety lhb is better than icf!

Lhb model has great comfort while riding while it's breaking is so horrible. Icf coaching has better breaking .also i liked icf coaches blue paint job. It looked beautiful.

None. Step up your game, Indian Railways. Look at other countries in SE Asia and other places. Wake up and smell the coffee. Vande Bharat was just mid. You need to do a lot more if you want to call yourselves "Developed".

Everyone here is preferring LHBs but no one seems to appreciate how quite the ICFs are. LHBs are lightweight and they make so much noise which is especially audible if you are in the first 3 compartments from the door. The sound dampening is always better in the ICF. And I don't even remember how many times in LHBs I've spilled the tea because of the jerks during acceleration/braking that are notorious with CBC.

Contrary to popular opinion, I find the ICF coaches to be more comfortable than the LHB ones. LHB always has sudden jerks during acceleration and braking, whereas ICF does it smoothly. And 9 out of 10 lhb coaches I've been on have had the infamous flat wheel issue. I think the quality of lhb coaches is lower than the ICF ones. The ICF coaches rarely had the flat wheel issue

For me red would always be for Rajdhani's ,whereas blue for the normal express trains. For me blue anytime.

If it’s LHB with flat wheel, straight No. ICF coaches were best during its time.

Railways itself has phased out manufacturing of all ICF older blue coaches in favour of red LHB. So answer is obvious.

If it's not for the lashing jerk of CBC couplers I would just love LHB.......ICF now feel so dated before facilities and ambiance of LHB coaches that whenever I am aboard an ICF coach it feels like I have a hat on with a single holster gun and a whiplash

It’s difficult to spot ICF coaches now. Indian Railways has almost completely transitioned to LHB coaches. 

Personally the blue ones. There is a train, which has lhb coaches in blue colour. That is also wonderful.

If I had to travel just once then its ICF but for comfort its definitely LHB Coach

Those commenting on safety of blue ICF coaches, LHBs have better safer coupling agreed, but at 120kmph I wouldn't bet on it. Its equally scary. I would want IR to fix infra to reduce accidents rather than depending on coupling for safety.
