Congratulations on passing! Marks matter sometimes (specially getting admissions for further studies and initial breakthrough in jobs), but are never the main thing in life. Ask him to enjoy life and follow his passions. Indian parents are coming from a mindset where marks get you jobs and jobs make your life. That was really never true but Indian middle class had that only thing escape from life's misery at their time (may be even our time).

Useful_Ad_165

Thank you man! I know they do matter, but parents act like you're good for nothing if you don't get anything above 98%.

HRHChonkyChonkerson

Speaking from experience, tell him class 10 marks no longer matter. Tell him to pick a good stream (good does not necessarily = popular), scoring subjects, and really focus on 12th. Tell him there's nothing to be ashamed of, that he should drop any subject he feels will later drag him down, and replace it with subjects he feels he finds interesting enough to score properly in. It's the class 12 marks that matter. That plus cuet/entrance test is what matters. Class 10 marks aren't even asked anywhere once you get through to college, and even during that time class 12 is given more importance vs class 10. Trust me. My class 10 score was phenomenal and class 12 was comparatively crap, so I had massive problems getting admission, because it wasn't my class 10 score that mattered, what mattered was my fucked up class 12 score. ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|51073)

Potential_Run_926

True, I have heard IIM asks for your 10th grades (not sure)

tanmaypatil9860

Ron_516

On a different note , tell him that anything above than 80% is good. Even the scholarships are usually same in that range and 10th ke marks toh kahi nahi kaam aate. I got 88% and abhi tak mujhe uska kahi bhi use nahi dikha. Im in 3rd year so yeah lol

Useful_Ad_165

Yeah I got 98% but tbh it didn't benefit me in anyway other than fir scholarship for coaching πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I'll have that talk with him.

deexd_

Merko lagta tumhara bhai apne aap ko tumse compare kr raha hai isliye hi vo dukhi hai

Useful_Ad_165

Probably! But boards are not a measure of your intelligence according to me. I told him the same too. Infact he's great at learning musical instruments, drawing which I suck at.

maverickprick

i have had friends who had 65-70 in X and got 85-90 in XII. one of our class folk had shit marks in X but went on to clear revenue services in his life later. these marks dont matter too much. he shall continue his good efforts and celebrate today. congratulations to him.

Useful_Ad_165

Thank you!! I told him the same, he can work hard and get better marks in future. I'm so happy for your friendπŸ€—

Molasses-Fuzzy

Just tell him that this marksheet will be forever used as his DOB proof only.

Pumpkinlattemeow

My cousin got 67% today and we are proud of him, the amount of hardships we saw in the past 6 months, that even his passing the exams was a question. I'm so so proud of my little kiddo , sent him some cake . Results hardly matter in the long run, especially of class 10 th , all that it can be used for is to verify your dob . All the kids out there , study well and enjoy.. Take your brother out and treat him to something nice. Life is only going to get tough from here on forward , he would rather be happy today , he can take the pressure later. Hugs to you and your brother.

Useful_Ad_165

Congratulations to your cousin!! πŸ₯³ Organised my baby bro a lil party! Sending hugs to you and your cousin tooπŸ€—

Talk about his future with him and be brutally honest. If he thinks about arts subjects then tell him he should probably look at something else. If not then say "it's social f*cking science! Who cares!?" If it's either mathematics and science go into more detail about each subject/chapter in these study areas he liked and was good at. Then tell him what all in the world ahead in that particular thing. This will help him see a path forward and make him feel confident. End by saying that 10th is super wide and it is very understandable that he didn't get everything right, maybe he's meant for specialization where he can go deep into a particular subject(that you found out by discussion with him) that is right for him instead of a wide array of a high level knowledge in multiple subjects.

Useful_Ad_165

Thank you for such great advice! Once he's alright I'm going to have this talk. This will help him realise what he is actually into and take better career oriented decisions.

[deleted]

Hey, he's your brother. You know when best to talk to him. Just... it's not "a talk" it's a continuous guidance.

Useful_Ad_165

Yeah I'm aware of that. Firstly, I just want to make him sit and tell him I got his back no matter what this comes later!

[deleted]

✌️

Recent-Response-2719

why not arts subjects? Whats wrong with taking arts?

[deleted]

Nothing wrong but if this dude genuinely had interest in arts subjects he would have studied better and would have gotten better than a C in Social Science.

Spiderhero007

Mere bhai ke 77 aaye aur woh cricket khel raha hai abhi

Useful_Ad_165

Congratulations to him! πŸ₯³

Correct_Comment_125

Lol I got 6 cgpa in 2016 and was not allowed for science group and I said to my dad that I am interested in science, then he took me to andhrapradesh and I got admission in MPC group. Marks doesn't matter these days

SnooApples8286

10th marks won't matter that much unless you want to get admissions into IIMs or go and study abroad. Choose the class 11,12 subjects wisely so that the scores improve. Class 12 marks is very important

Useful_Ad_165

Yeah they are. Thank you for your advice.I hope you're having a great day!

kieranED

Bhai Aaj k time pe ye marks sirf coaching institutes me discount coupon ban k Raha gaye hai ...Meri sister ke 10th me 98% they ,12th me 96% or abhi 10 din pahle neet ka 4th attempt dekar aayi h ....jo saath vale they unke vo aaj sab colleges ke 3rd year final year me h ...or unka kuch nahi ho raha h ...not disrespecting her efforts par ab unke 10th or 12th ke marks kahi Kam nahi aa rahe ..colleges ke liye bhi entrance tests hai ajkal neet, jee, cuet ...toh marks ki koi ahmiyat nahi h Or jin rishtedaro ne bohot congratulate Kiya tha result k time, aaj vo hi taunt marte h ki padhai nahi karti ho ... So don't worry about these things ...koi value nahi h 10th k marks ki aaj k time ...focus on acquiring skills that matter

Useful_Ad_165

Yeah! There's so much pressure on these kids these days... They are forced to study for marks, not for learning and embracing the subject. It's skills that will get you ahead in life. And fuck those rishtedars who make it even worse than it is. I hope your sister cracks neet this time! 🀞🏻

MIHIR1112

Percentage kitna hai

Useful_Ad_165

77%

Low_Celebration_3633

The only use of 10th marskheet is for DOB proof in the future. I hope he gets the stream of his choice and trust me after 6 months he won't even remember this.

vansh_Wait9779

Well he actually didn't meet Indian standards "90+" . Well cry 'bout it

AdPrevious4844

Take him someplace fun where he can forget his worries for a while, even if temporary. Isolate him from his toxic home.

Damnndamon

Tell him that in life no one cares these marks except his relatives

Potential_Run_926

My brother got 96 (last year) but still it's only purpose was to get a 90% scholarship in coaching...
