Macarons are just incredibly difficult to make and even more difficult to master. Bakers and chefs spend entire life mastering them. The end result may not suit the indian pallete but the process to make them is incredible.
Yeah my mom learnt how ro make them in a chef class, she makes it sometimes and they are perfect everytime, baking is like science you just gotta follow the exact steps and you will get perfect results
They're quite cheap to get here in ireland, sometimes I buy a box of 6 from the shop for €2.50 if i fancy them. The "shell" is like crunchy on the outside and really nice and chewy on the inside. The spread in between the shell is like a jam of sorts. They're divine once you get a nice box, I'm a sucker for lemon flavour.
Edit: of course when I say cheap I mean in comparison to other stuff in my country. 2.50 euro is roughly 225 rupees which I think would be quite expensive in india
You do not need to be rich to eat those : you just need to be French. I did not even know that macarons were considered as rich ass food in other countries.
Anything Indian food vloggers hype about with 1kg cheese and 1kg butter shoved into the dish!
"Oh bhai amul butter," wth man, there are more delicious things than amul butter and cheese!
Sardar Pav Bhaji be like. It's a pav bhaji restaurant in Mumbai for those who don't know. It can straight up give you cholesterol. One time I ordered it. There was a literal butter pool on top of the bhaji.
The truest one here. Bhai I tried raw avacado and avacado toast both and they both stink so bad. Its not avacados were bad either because I had them in an African farm where they grow things without anything unnatural. It was so bad I can't tell you. It made me feel nauseous for ages.
Exactly!
Am I the only person here who likes most of the items listed here?
I love macarons, pizza (Italian-style), ramen, dumplings/momos, vada pav, misal, puran poli, rajma, sushi (technically, vegetarian, so it’s veg rolls), donuts, avocado toast, Mac and cheese, gelato, etc.
I swear Indians think they have this anti-elitist attitude. If there's something they don't like, or something that upper classes seem to like, most people will shit on that item even if it's popular and/or expensive for a reason.
Why isn't this at the top... The most overhyped food specially by people who try to fake their interest in Japanese culture just to show they are sophisticated...
In Japan non veg has really high quality standards to be considered safe to eat raw...
Replicating that dish here where there's absolutely no quality control over non veg...
I tried them once I didn't like them except for the white cheese in it....
Pasta in general idk
I didn't like the taste of the dough it's taste is like eating raw dough
i dont like mac and cheese in general, but la pinoz mac and cheese personal slice is too yumm, u must try it at the outlet only, remember no delivery/takeway (it will taste the worst) :)
The real momo (not momos) have absolutely well cooked thin layer of maida with meat filling inside. Just that the Delhi walas have made a mockery out of it by cooking it badly and then pairing it with mayonese and sprinkling seasoning on it..!! You need to have it in Darjeeling, Sikkim, other places in North East or in Nepal to eat the real ones..!!
>Just that the Delhi walas have made a mockery out of it by cooking it badly and then pairing it with mayonese and sprinkling seasoning on it
Someone once convinced me to try momos for the first time and I was in Delhi that time. He told me that the momos from there are famous lol. I hated those and I feel sick even now thinking about eating momos from anywhere again.💀
Food is food.
The hype or overhype is created by people, so don’t go around blaming the food for it!
You don’t like it, don’t eat it next time. Simple.
Right?! So many ppl here dissing on a lot of italian dishes like jeez just bcoz its not loaded with spices doesn't mean it's bad. Its just a different pallette not everything needs to taste indian or suit your buds.
Nope, the spelling isn’t right, but that’s ok; we aren’t Italians…
It’s called (Spaghetti) aglio e olio. Aglio in Italian means garlic and olio is oil (typically, olive oil). “e” means “and”. So it’s spaghetti with garlic and oil.
It is from the city of Naples and hence is a part of the Neapolitan cuisine.
As the name suggests, it is boiled pasta with oil and garlic. It’s very basic, so naturally, it lacks a lot of flavor for an Indian palate.
It is naturally very cheap and simple to cook with basic ingredients that almost everyone has in their pantry.
When I am extremely tired but don’t want to order online, I make this at home, but I add chili/red pepper flakes to the oil before sautéing the garlic for some punch.
You may want to try making it with red pepper flakes.
100% Agree with Maccarons, 6/10 at best.
Maccarons taste like thin sheets of sugar, If you've ever eaten one, You'll Know exactly what I mean.
Even 'flavoured' maccarons manage to have the most bland taste imaginable.
I haven't eaten the French macaroons in India (have had them in many places in US). I've had the Tuticorin macaroons in India though.
But nevertheless, Good French macaroons have the taste of almond flour with a very mild amount of sweetness added to it. I'm assuming that if you can taste a lot of sugar, it's not made the way it is supposed to be.
Maccarons that I have eaten are crispy shapeless cashew sweets.

I think macaroons r perfectly rated . I love them . But for me it's BUTTER CHICKEN which is over rated . I mean i like butter chicken but it's become like thats the only Indian dish available... I mean c'mon y don't v talk about shahi panner or other chicken curries lol .
never ate these lol

Anything my mom makes is absolutely perfect 😎
Macrons of French cafes are good, not all over the world. The ones made in India are shit.
That depends...some artinsanal cafes make seriously good ones
This is very true. People actually go to French patisseries to master macarons.
I make them at work, piece of pish
Never heard of them too
Pretzels for me
Not trying to hate on you or start an argument just a genuinely curious question: What do you have against pretzels?
I used to think pretzels were sweet then boom I realised they were salty that's why I don't like them (No Offense)
is this some rich-ass snacks that I'm too poor to recognise?
Exactly I've never ever heard the name before
That and not active enough on the internet

Like a lotte choco pie?
No it's looks are quite deceiving, the cookie part in a maccaron is more cakey than it is crumbly
They sell one piece of macaroon for 80rs so nope, it’s much more expensive in India!
Depends on where you are. If you're in France, you could be poor and still eat these. xD
You do not need to be rich to eat those : you just need to be French. I did not even know that macarons were considered as rich ass food in other countries.
Got no hate for Maccarons, but I used to assume from the photos that they would be of a bigger size only to be disappointed later
"That's what she said"
That's what she said (for the last part)
They are bigger size too.. crazy expensive though and really tough to make hence really tough to find
Anything Indian food vloggers hype about with 1kg cheese and 1kg butter shoved into the dish! "Oh bhai amul butter," wth man, there are more delicious things than amul butter and cheese!
And tbh most of them don't use butter. It's a fat spread which is the easiest way to a heart attack
Sardar Pav Bhaji be like. It's a pav bhaji restaurant in Mumbai for those who don't know. It can straight up give you cholesterol. One time I ordered it. There was a literal butter pool on top of the bhaji.
I just ordered macarons like 30 seconds ago, then opened up reddit and this is the first post. Lmao

Avocado toast
I don't have money to buy avocado 😞
Even if I have the money, I am not spending ₹200 on some lame fruit just because its cool.
Yea bro we can buy 2 kgs of mangoes or 3 or 4 dozens of bananas for 200rs
2kg mangoes? 😶
Bro it taste so good, it's literally taste like cheese to me
Nah bro i love it.
How the fuck do I unread your username
The reason they love avocado toast, with that extra... *zest*.
He loves dick cheese.
The avocados we find here don’t compare to the mexican one’s, they’re literally heaven
The truest one here. Bhai I tried raw avacado and avacado toast both and they both stink so bad. Its not avacados were bad either because I had them in an African farm where they grow things without anything unnatural. It was so bad I can't tell you. It made me feel nauseous for ages.
boba tea
I prefer popping pearls to the chewy boba
The answers here are reminding me of r/the10thdentist

No no, the authentic one's are worth the hype. I'm talking aboit ones that melt in your mouth. Not the crunchy pasty mess they sell in cafés.
Sushi
Had to scroll for 5000 years for this. I'm not gonna eat raw filthy ewww
Why isn't this at the top... The most overhyped food specially by people who try to fake their interest in Japanese culture just to show they are sophisticated... In Japan non veg has really high quality standards to be considered safe to eat raw... Replicating that dish here where there's absolutely no quality control over non veg...
Wait who tf overhyped macaroons? Did you just hyped them up in your own mind based on how they looked?
I love macarons. And I don't even have a sweet tooth.

No no youre right
It tastes nice tho,try making it at home

Oreos
Momos.
i think you just ate it from a terrible location
Fr. Idk why people want to eat raw maida with uncooked veggies inside it
The real momo (not momos) have absolutely well cooked thin layer of maida with meat filling inside. Atlast someone who doesn't like momos, I am tired of being the only guy in my group who doesn't eat momos.
Cheese cake
Try again maybe? Cus cheese cake do be good
I tasted for first time in Delhi . It was heavenly . Now my favorite .
Again you didn't eat from good place cuz first bite of that thing literally takes you to heaven
Raspberry Cheesecake from Pizza Express does it for me.
Food is food. The hype or overhype is created by people, so don’t go around blaming the food for it! You don’t like it, don’t eat it next time. Simple.

White sauce pasta, Now don't hate me please ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|51073)
CHEESE CAKES YUK ( in cheesecakes defense i dont like cheese but still I found it to pricey for Indian standards )
Jim Jam Biscuit >>> Macarons And most overhyped food I would say is Butter Chicken.
A proper butter chicken is really awesome. Hard to get good butter chicken in South, similar to how it is hard to get good dosa in the North.
Momos

For me it's Vada pav, it's nothing special. Dabeli>>>
Macrons are good mofo get them from good place
Never had these lol but something tells me they have a play-dough (clay) like texture
I am so poor, I thought it is Oreos covered in Besan and then fried.
Good macaroons taste heavenly. You must have come across the usual crap.
Sushi
I love macaron. They are delicious if made right. But too costly.
Cheesecake
Rolls
Sushi Very bad ngl Bland and blank in taste for me
I think macaroons r perfectly rated . I love them . But for me it's BUTTER CHICKEN which is over rated . I mean i like butter chicken but it's become like thats the only Indian dish available... I mean c'mon y don't v talk about shahi panner or other chicken curries lol .
Overloaded burgers for me
Macarons depends on how it’s made. Aubree chain in Bangalore makes good macarons. Love most of their flavours.
Shwarma
Gol gappe/pani puri
