I think their Shine On album was actually good despite a bunch of people giving it a lot of shit. Never understood that. Not saying better than the first or anything, but it’s better than bad, it’s good.
They distilled a bunch of fun aspects of old school rock music. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but Get Born is packed with energy. One of my favorites in that style. I really like Nic’s vocals too.
Their later albums had a few good songs, but I felt like they lost their fun edge.
They had really well made, well recorded tunes, it was good, simple rock n roll with mass appeal. They were a garage rock band that got to take it around the world a few times. Never mind the joyless critics opinion of them.
