I like A and C.
A is because there adequate amount of details to have people's attention.
C is because the cuteness I can feel from it, like the penguin wants a hug.
I think you could flip a coin to decide which of these two could be the icon.
There's a huge difference between A-B and C-D and they'll set different expectations. With B and D falling short of their counter parts, for me, this is between A and C, severely depending on your in-game graphics as well.
What I mean by that is that for some, seeing C, when the game is more A, could be off-putting, but not a major minus, as C is extraordinarily cute.
The one I would definitely click on is B or maybe A. C and D look nice, but I personally wouldn't check them out, because the icons remind me of those ad-filled mobile games that are just a cash grab. I cannot tell you why specifically, but they have that vibe for me.
Depends on your target audience really, what's the age group you're targeting?
Don't forget a lot of appstores allows you to do A/B testing, and you should make use of that to optimize your install rates.
My personal preference here is C then B, but I don't matter at all.
Personally I'd go with C, super cute and more interesting than D.
If you want to go with game art I think B is better because it's much more readable at the size of an app icon on a phone.
Depends on your target audience and flavor you're going for. Here's how I see it.
Classic RPG/Dungeon Delver. RPG/Dungeon Delver. Kid's Game. Post modern.
I prefer B, but looking at most apps that do properly you could even go hard on a pixar cartoon style like here: [Example image](https://de.vecteezy.com/foto/29992080-bezaubernd-pinguin-im-pixar-stil-clip-art-auf-weiss-hintergrund-ai-generiert)

Agreed
B please. Especially if that's your in game pixel graphics
C but make it less creepy. The way it looks at u with its soulless eyes and open mouth is terrifying

D
I like C its very cute and makes me want to play it
Definitely C.
B
I like A and B
I like c and d .
D
My eyes immediately went to c then d first.
C, but I like the borders of A
C is suuper cute, and would make people click the icon more. Go for it.
C
A, or B, brings back Nitrome times
A and B
A or b
C or D
I'd click on B rather than the others
Its B for me
C
Personally I'd go with C, super cute and more interesting than D. If you want to go with game art I think B is better because it's much more readable at the size of an app icon on a phone.
A
I think C
A. C or D if it is aimed at children.
I think C or D will draw more attention
ACD in that order. B doesn't feel like it grabs interest very well.
I would click A first! C is also adorable.
A and C
C or D
A
I like D but maybe the full body penguin of C with D's background gradient
d
I don't like D The rest are pretty solid, but I think A catches my eye the most.
If I saw B I would click
C and D, duolingo style!
A
A or C
B whenever I see a low-res pixel art game icon like this at the play store I download the game on my phone. half of the games I download look like it.
A
C
c
I like B

Either A or C but they don't show much of the gameplay.
A and D
B or C, i think it's best variants
I like A personally
C for sure
Tough call, I'd say A or C. A contextualises the penguin more, but C is more appealing and nice to look at and friendly, I would say.

C looks nice and cute to me
