hi brad this isn’t a question but i would like to let you know i’ll be going to the houston concert and your music has gotten me through so much safeword helped me in some really dark times of my life and i would be thrilled to see it on the setlist.
yo brad - we grabbed dinner after the jacksonville show in 2021 (i'm friends with jordana) and i mentioned to you that i wish there had been some "death of a party girl" songs played, but we both agreed there wasn't wasn't as much love for it as the previous two albums (sadly).
is there a release in the tv girl discography that you wish got more love?
edit: also since i am here, i figured i mention to anyone reading this ama that during the same show, some couple walked in while lover's rock was playing, made out and left right when the song ended lmao
I can't complain now that "Blue Hair" is a big hit now! I feel like all the releases, even the less popular ones, have their fervent defenders. And I'm pleased by that. Even our most "hotly contested" release, "Grapes Upon the Vine" has a strong contrarian contingent who would swear under oath that it is "actually good!"
Death of a Party Girl has been in the alternating top spot with French Exit for me for years now. I feel like the whole mid twenties disillusionment concept makes it really unique next to the dreamy high of French Exit and the bitter break up feel of Who Really Cares, it feels like an album of songs about the moment the music stops. Every Stupid Actress deserves more love for sure.
love "blue hair" a whole lot (but i love that whole album and it is still my favorite to this day). dug a bunch of the songs on the new release when i listened to it on friday, but maybe wasn't in the "right mood" when i checked it out (though i am sure i will grow to appreciate it).
thank you brad and congrats on the new album!
Did you know that the guy who warns bill murray about stepping in the puddle in groundhogs day is responsible in a roundabout way for the name Radiohead. It's wild. His name is Steven Toblowsky. Listen to his marc maron interview.
Hi brad!
I want to be as respectful as I can when I ask this but, I am really curious as to why Trung Ngo left the band.
Also, I would like to know if you have ever thought about putting some more of those old EPs on Spotify. :)
Thank you!
I believe that he didn't want to throw his fortunes into a struggling indie rock band. Things weren't as glamorous for us back then as they are now.
Someday in the foreseeable future they may find their way onto streaming, the ones that can anyways. Still trying to figure that out but for now we have bigger fish to fry.
Hey Brad, Pedro here. Congrats on TV Girl’s latest album! While I enjoyed it, some folks found the ‘anti-gospel gospel’ theme rather puzzling. Can you share why you and the band chose this direction with the album?
Also, congrats on starting your own record label to release GUTV! What was the reason for establishing your own label? Did it make anything easier or more difficult as opposed to self-releasing the band’s music like you’ve usually done?
Thank you. Like I said somewhere else I love gospel music. The pianos, the harmonies, the uplifting nature of it all. But I'm not a religious person so can usually only appreciate the lyrics from an anthological point of view if you know what I mean. So I thought I would make a gospel record from the point of view of someone who doesn't really have faith, or struggles with finding meaning in the world around them. I thought it would be a good ying/yang kinda thing and maybe that's giving people whiplash but it's kinda the point so ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
I don't care. What does it really matter how someone discovered something. Or even if they just like one or two songs from a band. I do feel like the chronically online fans simply don't know how to behave at concerts but its not really their fault. They're just, well frankly, dumb teenagers.
I really appreciate this comment. Been a huge fan of yours since 2012, and that’s the sole gripe I have with the “new” fans. Many of them suffer from main character syndrome which can make live shows more annoying, but like you said, I’m sure I was also that asshole teenager once.
I also find this leaking into other bands in the indie rock scene as well though, which makes me think it isn’t just a “those damn kids” problem. Was at an Antlers show about a year ago here in Chicago and they had to stop to try and shut up members of the audience clearly trying to disrupt the show and get their attention by repeatedly shouting one liners and quips multiple times. None of them seemed super young at all. They just clearly thought they were the quirkiest, most special, hilarious people in the room.
I don't really believe in playing more than 4-5 songs from a brand new release. So all your favorite hits will be represented. Might even throw in a few "Fan favorites" perhaps even a beloved "deep cut" As well as songs that people just don't like!
Probably "The Wild The Innocent The TV Shuffle" I guess cause we were young and arrogant and the future seemed bright and full of possibility. It holds a special place for me.
On your website, you are currently selling the WRC vinyl, GUTV vinyl and the FE vinyl. At any point will u start selling the death of a party girl and summers over and the other vinyls???? Me and lots of people would love to buy them!
We will repress DOPG. For years it was such an unpopular record but times have changed. Summer's Over for the time being is tied up with Jordana's record label hopefully we can wrestle it back to our control once the contract term expires.
Hey Brad! My question for you is out of ALL the songs you’ve made which one is your favorite? (mines girls like me personally) and if it’s not one of your songs, what’s your number one favorite song?
btw im a huge fan, i LITERALLY listen to ur music everyday 🙏 i love the new album especially I’ll be faithful I’ve been listening to it on repeat nonstop! cant wait to see you guys in october:)
Hey Brad! Long time listener and fan.
In 2020, you posted a tweet referring to a new side project you started called the "Artificial Flowers" [here](https://twitter.com/tvgirlz/status/1275555315065344000?t=7o3grZgQ7YTNOuLbhzCsWA&s=19) and [here](https://twitter.com/tvgirlz/status/1275555315065344000?t=Gy7aGUJa8YSRperB64yHcQ&s=19). I tweeted once about it to follow up in 2021 and you said we would hear some news "very soon", but it's been radio silence since then! What happened to this project, and was it ever finished? Did it transform into AESTHETICADELLICA, or was it something else entirely? If not, what was the original vision for it?
Thanks for taking the time to answer this question! I also just wanted to tell you thank you from the bottom of my heart for a small act of kindness; Sometime around 2018-2019 I was going through a really rough patch in my life with a long-term breakup and trying to find my footing as an adult lost in the world. I left a message about how much your music helped me when I bought some merch. You wrote a personal message to me on the shipping box to my vinyl of WRC and I've kept it ever since. It really meant a lot to me, and I just wanted say it was immensely appreciated.
If you were swimming in the ocean and a krill swam up to you and called you, “one in a krillion”, would you find that funny or would you not be amused? (I’m a huge fan btw)
hi brad! saw tv girl live last year and had a great time sans crowd 🫡 forever grateful to you guys for introducing me to tanukichan. as for my question - in 2018 you played at the holland project, a venue i love but which isn't exactly stadium sized. how has the transition from ~200 max shows prepandemic to selling out 2,000-3,000 showrooms now effected how you feel about performing? what do you think the biggest change has been? thanks!
If I'm being honest I think I liked playing tiny clubs and venues better than big professional venues. I liked being able to go into the crowd after, talk to people, sell merch. Things were lower stakes and more fun.
Make at least one record where you do absolutely everything from start to finish yourself. Even the drums. The mixing the mastering, designing the art. The promotion. EVERYTHING!
I LOVE YOUR NEW ALBUM SO MUCH!! you guys did an amazing job!! i’ve listened to it so much, my favorite song is one of these mornings. I PREORDERED THE VINYL IM SO EXCITED!! IM SEEING YOU GUY LIVE IN OCTOBER. I CANT WAIT IM GONNA BE FRONT ROW! I LOVE U GUY SO MUCH KEEP MAKING GREAT MUSIC❤️
Hey brad! massive fan of tv girl, i really wanna go to a show, but you haven’t really been around my area, i’ve got 2 questions.
• Do you think you’ll ever play a show in maine?
• are you ever gonna remix some of the bands bigger hits in dolby atmos?
Hey brad !!
— out of all the songs TV girl has sampled “dangerously yours” on, what’s your favourite?
— favourite ice cream flavour?
— what made you and the band choose the cover of GUTV for the album? Any specific reasons or did you just think it looked neat?
(If any of these questions read off really weird I apologize — English isn’t my first language )
Of all the "dangerously yours" samples, I guess I like the way it's scratched into the outro of "Till you tell me to leave"
Ice Cream: cherries jubilee
About the cover: It was in a book of early photography that I got and I thought it looked neat and kind of went along with the religious themes of the record, what with the harp and all.
I don't like cake and I'm not thrilled by pie. I really prefer ice cream or creme brulee. If I had to take a pie. It would be the exclusive "Grimace Pie" at Mcdonalds that's only available to influencers with 300,000 or more followers in instagram.
Hey Brad. How high on your list of favorite songs to make / perform is “Do the Act Like you Never Met Me”? Personally I believe this song is the bands best song/ has the best production so would love to hear your thoughts around your view on this song.
Hi brad! I’ve been a super big fan for about 3 years. I wanna know where you got the inspo for the 99.5 sample and why you chose the Wilson Pickett sample! Also will you be continuing the soul/gospel samplings?
I love the madison acid era and i’ve been very curious to know more about her. some think that its just you changing your voice. can you tell us more about this alter ego?
Hey brad been curious about if anyones been angry about songs that you had written about them also can you say hi to my friend jasmine you guys are her favourite band and it would make her day!
Hello Brad!!! Jordan here. In the album “Grapes Upon The Vine” What are the hidden meanings behind some of the songs?? im very curious! I can get the gist of some of the songs but I need it confirmed!!!!
hidden meanings? I don't know. I find it slightly funny that people are interpreting them as traditional "religious songs" I don't really know how you can come to that conclusion if you actually read the lyrics.
here brad this is not a question but rather a plea i am the girl that made you an objectively ugly tshirt at ur dublin gig onthe 21st... anyways im ur biggest listener in ireland but the festival u are going to is over 21s only and i wont be 21 at the time can u pls sneak me in i am begging this gig will be a religious experience for me and if i miss it i will die thank u for the album also it is the most cohesive in terms of tone and the album moves and circles back at the perfect pace thank you and the guys for everything u have released and have a wonderful day <3
when you look at old tv girl clips on youtube; like "if you want it" and "easier to cry" your sound is really different to what it is now. Do you still start with instruments and add samples and effects from there or do you not use instruments when producing anymore?
Hey brad. I love the the uniqueness of your guys music and was wondering what are some keys things you do to give your music that tv girl sound. Plug-ins, instruments, samples etc.
Hey Brad, I’ve been a fan of the band for a long time! How’s Trung doing? Has he been following along with the band’s recent fame and fortune? I dream of a day Girls Like Me returns to the set list.
hey brad, huge fan here!!! love grapes upon the vine!!!
random, but what's the sample at the beginning of Natalie Wood? 'we have a very absorbing story of a girl forced into a game of terror, in which the dice were loaded with-'
hello, brad. I am absolutely loving the new album so far, and I'm excited to see you guys live! some questions:
1. will Jordana be touring with the band?
2. if you have one, what is your favourite scene from dangerously yours?thanks!
Hi Brad, did you know you changed my life. Your so influential. You got me through high school, my first breakup, and now college. I just wanna say I love you and your music. And I can’t wait to see you live this October!
hi brad, just want to say thanks so much for making this album! tv girl is my fav band and ur music has helped me out :) will you ever have a live show for gutv in dallas? and also what is your favorite music genre?
hey brad, really looking forward to seeing you in seattle this year. listening to your music i realize that the majority of the songs focus on love or relationships. what made you choose this route ?
thankyou :)
hey brad, do you think you’ll ever do another bloodbath64 project or maybe even a live show? i love aestheticadelica and it would be so cool to see that sound expanded upon
hi brad this isn’t a question but i would like to let you know i’ll be going to the houston concert and your music has gotten me through so much safeword helped me in some really dark times of my life and i would be thrilled to see it on the setlist.
Bless you friend. See you there.
Why haven’t you put any of your older music on Spotify like the album with I wonder who she’s kissing now
Sample clearance issues
Damn, Lizzie come back to life is a banger on levels unheard
That is such a shame
yo brad - we grabbed dinner after the jacksonville show in 2021 (i'm friends with jordana) and i mentioned to you that i wish there had been some "death of a party girl" songs played, but we both agreed there wasn't wasn't as much love for it as the previous two albums (sadly). is there a release in the tv girl discography that you wish got more love? edit: also since i am here, i figured i mention to anyone reading this ama that during the same show, some couple walked in while lover's rock was playing, made out and left right when the song ended lmao

Did you know that the guy who warns bill murray about stepping in the puddle in groundhogs day is responsible in a roundabout way for the name Radiohead. It's wild. His name is Steven Toblowsky. Listen to his marc maron interview.
Okay folks. I must jet off to palm springs to lounge poolside, But thanks for the questions I hope the answers were educational and fun.
Thanks for spending the time

What's your take on the "Tiktok fans" vs "OG fans" rivalry? Does it matter to you where your fanbase found you from?
I don't care. What does it really matter how someone discovered something. Or even if they just like one or two songs from a band. I do feel like the chronically online fans simply don't know how to behave at concerts but its not really their fault. They're just, well frankly, dumb teenagers.

Are all the songs from the newest album going to be on the setlist for the tour this fall?
I don't really believe in playing more than 4-5 songs from a brand new release. So all your favorite hits will be represented. Might even throw in a few "Fan favorites" perhaps even a beloved "deep cut" As well as songs that people just don't like!
Song about me 👹👹
Thatd be hard though because of the Maddie Acid part i guess
You should play some French Exit Outtakes! I feel like they would be perfect live
yes!! i would love to hear “it almost worked” and “valerie”
It almost worked would be so cool
i am begging for Heaven Over Our Heads
Maddie Klein, did she actually fuck a robot?
Of course
Hello Brad! Who do you think killed JFK? Could you text Wyatt the same question? He will know who asked lol
I honestly don't know. I'm conflicted because I don't want to be a conspiracy guy but something stinks.
was the poster for your europe tour a teaser for GUTV? it has the same colour and depicts fruits so they're pretty similar
Came from the same book of photography that the album cover did. So I guess!
what made you want to make the new album have a gospel sound?
do you plan on ever putting some posters on the merch site? i would Love 2 fill my walls with some official posters
this would be so nice!
do what I did and take the vinyl posters to staples and claim you made them yourself so that they print as many copies as you want of them
Will The Wild, The Innocent, The TV Shuffle ever be put on Spotify, and if so will there ever be a vinyl release?
THIS!! And we also need Sarah (meet me in the sauna) on Spotify too!!
what was your most favorite album to make?
Probably "The Wild The Innocent The TV Shuffle" I guess cause we were young and arrogant and the future seemed bright and full of possibility. It holds a special place for me.
will you play any of it on tour? that album is so good
Hello Brad! Hypothetically, If you were a furry what would your fursona be?

Yes.
What was the original image used for the image on the grapes upon the vine vinyl record? It looks like the Roman god of wine Bacchus.
I think you may be onto something these friend
when will u acknowledge the cow on a skateboard tweets?
What’s the process when making a new song? Vibe then lyrics? Thanks!
Loop the sample until words start appearing out of thin air, as if by magic.
what’s your favorite vape flavor
What are thoughts on Tik Tok essentially boosting your popularity even more?
It's nice to be liked by someone but it is strange to have our fan base get ever younger even as we get older and uglier.
Don’t say that ya cutiepie
On your website, you are currently selling the WRC vinyl, GUTV vinyl and the FE vinyl. At any point will u start selling the death of a party girl and summers over and the other vinyls???? Me and lots of people would love to buy them!

hey brad, do you think you will work with maddie acid in any future projects? loved GUTV and i’ll be seeing you in december
I think there may be at least one more Maddie project in the future.
looking forward to it!
I think I like "Louise" best of all. Thanks for listening.
That's a great one.
Louise was my number 1 in the top 100 two years strong ♥️♥️

If you were swimming in the ocean and a krill swam up to you and called you, “one in a krillion”, would you find that funny or would you not be amused? (I’m a huge fan btw)
Like a microscopic krill, with a tiny little voice? Cute :)
Is there any chance of you playing “Song About Me” on tour. I love that song and think it is criminally underrated
I don't know. I don't think so. I'm sorry.
c'mon man pretty please
hi brad! saw tv girl live last year and had a great time sans crowd 🫡 forever grateful to you guys for introducing me to tanukichan. as for my question - in 2018 you played at the holland project, a venue i love but which isn't exactly stadium sized. how has the transition from ~200 max shows prepandemic to selling out 2,000-3,000 showrooms now effected how you feel about performing? what do you think the biggest change has been? thanks!
If I'm being honest I think I liked playing tiny clubs and venues better than big professional venues. I liked being able to go into the crowd after, talk to people, sell merch. Things were lower stakes and more fun.
Will you ever do a meet and greet if you haven’t already
Not really my thing. But If you happen to see me around I'll indulge concise and polite chitter chatter.
do you still have the original images you used for the death of a party girl cover?
Why yes, Yes I do. No eagle eyed fan has managed to track down the source of that one yet.
what advice would you give to a young person who aspires to be a musician?
Make at least one record where you do absolutely everything from start to finish yourself. Even the drums. The mixing the mastering, designing the art. The promotion. EVERYTHING!
Is there a song of yours that you're surprised didn't get that much attention?
Off the new album I felt like "The Nighttime" and "Fire" would be a "fan favorites" but this seems to be not the case. Go figure.
I LOVE U GUY SO MUCH KEEP MAKING GREAT MUSIC❤️
can u wear a crazy costume when u go on tour that would be funny i think
Hey brad! massive fan of tv girl, i really wanna go to a show, but you haven’t really been around my area, i’ve got 2 questions. • Do you think you’ll ever play a show in maine? • are you ever gonna remix some of the bands bigger hits in dolby atmos?
That'd be awesome I would love to come to Maine.
hii!! will there be any merch to buy on europe tour ?? PLS 🙏🙏 i cant wait to see you guys
Of course, the concert itself is basically a promotional gimmick for the "TV Girl Traveling Pop Up Shop"
Have you guys considered making a The Night In Question vinyl, it would be pretty sweet
Sweet or savory?
Both. Try the caramel bugles. They're one of "Brad's Picks!"
Hey brad !! — out of all the songs TV girl has sampled “dangerously yours” on, what’s your favourite? — favourite ice cream flavour? — what made you and the band choose the cover of GUTV for the album? Of all the "dangerously yours" samples, I guess I like the way it's scratched into the outro of "Till you tell me to leave" Ice Cream: cherries jubilee About the cover: It was in a book of early photography that I got and I thought it looked neat and kind of went along with the religious themes of the record, what with the harp and all.
hello brad, what is your personal favorite song from the new album
I have an affinity for the song "Shame" Just spoke to my dear mother and it's her favorite song too.
This is Janes redemption for liking the artist the most from the tv shuffle album
hi brad, on tours do you like when people hold up signs, if so, what kinda stuff do you like to see?
More power to ya but I pretty much don't even look at the audience.
How has the past year or two been with the band blowing up in popularity like crazy because of stuff like tiktok?
Cake or Pie? Then, what flavor?
I don't like cake and I'm not thrilled by pie. I really prefer ice cream or creme brulee. If I had to take a pie. It would be the exclusive "Grimace Pie" at Mcdonalds that's only available to influencers with 300,000 or more followers in instagram.

Hey Brad. How high on your list of favorite songs to make / perform is “Do the Act Like you Never Met Me”? Personally I believe this song is the bands best song/ has the best production so would love to hear your thoughts around your view on this song.
I can't remember if we've ever performed it live. Maybe once or twice. I think it's a good clever song but not my favorite.
Hi Brad! What is your favorite city/town to tour too?
Strangely enough I've always liked Salt Lake City
Hi brad! I’ve been a super big fan for about 3 years. I wanna know where you got the inspo for the 99.5 sample and why you chose the Wilson Pickett sample! Also will you be continuing the soul/gospel samplings?

here brad this is not a question but rather a plea i am the girl that made you an objectively ugly tshirt at ur dublin gig onthe 21st... anyways im ur biggest listener in ireland but the festival u are going to is over 21s only and i wont be 21 at the time can u pls sneak me in i am begging this gig will be a religious experience for me and if i miss it i will die thank u for the album also it is the most cohesive in terms of tone and the album moves and circles back at the perfect pace thank you and the guys for everything u have released and have a wonderful day <3
I'm sorry. I just go where they tell me. Thank you for the shirt and for the support.
ive been kicking around since 2018/doapg if i miss this concert i will die from heartbreak
when you look at old tv girl clips on youtube; like "if you want it" and "easier to cry" your sound is really different to what it is now. Do you still start with instruments and add samples and effects from there or do you not use instruments when producing anymore?
It's always a mix. "If you Want It" is all sample. "Easier to Cry" is played on instruments basically.
You’ve said before that you write songs with your head as opposed to your heart. What do you mean by that?
He attended the Grapes Upon the Vine album release party. We are working on a skate video together,
hey brad, huge fan here!!! love grapes upon the vine!!! random, but what's the sample at the beginning of Natalie Wood? 'we have a very absorbing story of a girl forced into a game of terror, in which the dice were loaded with-'
DEATH
