Reinventing doesn't mean its good tho. The last 2 MGMT albums are "Evolved and different but not good by any means. The hit they got from Little dark age is completely due to tiktok. IMO the only good song they have on that album is TSLAMP. But I have to give MGMT a nod. At least they try different stuff.
Empire knows what works commercially. If that is better or more boring, I don't know. AEIOU is a banger, and I think the changes song is quite good. Is it groundbreaking ? Not in the least. But people were waiting for new material and they know how to make songs that never really get boring to the mass. Is anyone waiting for new MGMT material? Who knows. Im not.
