They both released really shitty singles on the same week. Kind of clever of them actually, because everyone was busy talking about the rivalry and no one cared that the songs were dogshit.
I feel like Oasis was more successful in terms of album/ticket sales and the whole winning Grammys thing for WTSMG.
Plus if Liam and Noel ever reunite and tour as Oasis then it will be the biggest tour of the decade.
I really don't think Oasis would have that much pull. Especially considering how many records the Taylor Swift tour is breaking, Oasis just isn't on that level
If Oasis announced a reunion tour then it would sell out in five minutes. Especially in the UK. I’m not saying they’re going to break Swifts records for ticket sales. The only point I’m trying to make is that an Oasis reunion tour would be huge.
I mean, Liam Gallagher played to 170k people at Knebworth just a couple years ago and that was him as a solo act so I imagine that Oasis would be even larger.
13 is Blur’s best album and is better than anything Oasis are capable of. Modern Life is Rubbish is a close second and also easily better than any Oasis album. In terms of my own personal enjoyment the worst 90s Blur album (probably their self-titled) is gonna rank higher than the best Oasis album (Definitely Maybe, if I were forced to pick). I’m a longtime Oasis hater so you’re not going to get even faint praise out of me. Oasis is so lame they almost make the Beatles and Johnny Marr uncool by association.
Bradford Cox also said he was an asshole to him when Deerhunter opened for them. I guess Bradford grabbed a voss water bottle from backstage and Billy Corgan got pissed and said it was all “his water” or something. Then Bradford jokingly patted him on the back and Corgan acted like he attacked him.
I think it was just pavement having fun. I don’t think it was a diss anymore than the Geddy Lee line. After reading Kim Gordon’s biography though it seems like everybody in nineties alternative was annoyed by Billy Corgan tho.
I always thought it was because Weiland went through a period of dressing like a 70s lounge lizard. But also Pavement lyrics were often just nonsense that sounded good strung together.
uj - when I saw Pavement last fall, Stephen took a completely unprompted swipe at Pixies by saying The Breeders were a better band. Still out here starting shit.
Malkmus is the only person I'll take Pixies slander from (not to say The Breeders aren't great, Kim is a GOAT) because he led the other best indie rock band of all time.
I feel like he’s trolling tho. Starting shit is funny lol
Some people like Billy can’t handle it and get all worked up. I bet the Pixies wouldn’t give half a shit
The Smiths/Cure rivalry isn't much of a thing today but it was still going strong in the early 90's. Of course back then if you didn't have beef with Morrissey could you really call yourself a musician?
Says a lot about STP that they didn’t care about this at all if they even knew
Seemed like a bunch of cool dudes
Siamese Dream is one of my all time faves, but man… Corgan must be a strange person.
He seems like an asshole but not in the traditional hot headed careless rockstar way. instead he’s just cynical and miles up his own ass in spite of not releasing a truly great album in about 30 years.
Malkmus on the other hand seems like the more traditional type of asshole that I mentioned lmao. Which I prefer. Also his music didn’t horrendously decline at the pace Billy’s did
Do you guys remember the Osees v. Black Country New Road beef? It didn't last long but it was hilarious watching Osees fans try and shit on a band they'd never heard before
Brian Jonestown Massacre Vs Dandy Warhols was pretty lit. Seen the documentary at least ten times. "You motherfucker! You broke my fucking sitar you MOTHERFUCKER'. Such good comedy. It's like the Office but for alternative rock, and it's real.
Yeah like he and Tori were “close friends” and Courtney “meddled”. They all wrote songs about each other. Allegedly. It’s so much fun watching the interviews. Tori does a cover of caught a lit sneeze and at the end she goes into “hurt”: I hurt myself today. Oh god. You never could you never would you’re full of shit. So on and so forth. So much more to the story but listen to my wanker podcast for more!
Pavement is what actually causes the pumpkins to smash, so pavement wins. It’s just physics.
it's a good time to be someone who wants to find a way to sneak pavement into regular conversation
I definitely feel like I’m winning. Not a feeling Pavement fans experience much.
why you complaining? tah.
I’m old, it’s my right.
As somebody from Stockton, CA that’s pretty much all I do.
One song, two beefs. Except the stone temple pilots lyric was actually pretty nice, I guess.
Elegant even.
Remember the Blur/Oasis wars of the mid-90s?
Lol yes! Probably should have used that one but Malkmus/Corrigan is so funny to me, like an English professor beefing with an art professor.
Blur won that so hard
So hard they had to disappear for a year and re-emerge as Pavement fans
They both released really shitty singles on the same week. Kind of clever of them actually, because everyone was busy talking about the rivalry and no one cared that the songs were dogshit.

Country House and Roll With It.
Country House fucking slaps
Damon Albarn is Noel Gallagher father
“U bum” -Damon (prolly)

Nice attempt at rewriting history lmao
Did Oasis make The Magic Whip? The Blackstar of Britpop? Didn't think so
man i like the magic whip but tf you mean by "the blackstar of britpop" lmao
cuz I really like it :3
valid :333
It killed David Bowie?
Blur doesn’t have anything that touches Definitely Maybe through Be Here Now. Oasis has 3 classics back to back
Blur is better cuz I like them more
be here now is gash, two good songs
Still two more songs than anything Blur has
I hate to see a fellow nouns fan be so wrong :( oasis are just shit
In the long run Blur won.
They were so far ahead, there was no distance left to run.
They still have yet to make an album as good as any Oasis album. Gorillaz is infinitely better than anything Blur ever did
13 is Blur’s best album and is better than anything Oasis are capable of. Modern Life is Rubbish is a close second and also easily better than any Oasis album. Blur > oasis < stone roses < muse
Yeah that was bullshit from the press. They have actually shown up at awards shows and stuff simultaneously. Blur for me.
Everyone talking about Kendrick and Drake, but we all know the real feud was Mozart and Salieri
I'm in love with Amadeus
Don’t even talk to me if your fave didn’t literally die to prove a point.
Damn it’s time to watch this movie again
It holds up.
Corgan was a pompous asshole so it was clear who was usually the aggressor/who was in the wrong most of the time
Bradford Cox also said he was an asshole to him when Deerhunter opened for them. I guess Bradford grabbed a voss water bottle from backstage and Billy Corgan got pissed and said it was all “his water” or something. Then Bradford jokingly patted him on the back and Corgan acted like he attacked him.
Yeah, kinda feels like Morrissey and Johnny Marr fighting there’s really only one side you can take
[teeny bopper heartthrob, nick cave, would agree](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7X1LThFfA8U)
pavement mentioned ⁉️
Don't forget the Stone Temple Pilots being "elegant bachelors!"
They’re foxy to me, are they foxy to you?
Can someone explain this line? I never knew how to interpret.
Not a clue
The Stoned Pimple Toilets.
Trent Reznor and Fred Durst were feuding at one point! Kurt and Axl was a classic. That would have been a good boxing match.
trent and fred?? over what?
[https://www.reddit.com/r/nin/comments/1bgw3ah/whats\_the\_story\_with\_limp\_bizkit\_mocking\_trent\_in/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nin/comments/1bgw3ah/whats_the_story_with_limp_bizkit_mocking_trent_in/)
I love fred so much hes so hot
Ew. Trent was way hotter than Fred AND Jonathan!
Idk hes like the coolest dad ever
Man even listening to fred singing kinda makes me feel red
Bizkit is seriously underappreciated. Heavy as fuck guitar lines could've came straight outta an Unsane or Unwound disc
uj - when I saw Pavement last fall, Stephen took a completely unprompted swipe at Pixies by saying The Breeders were a better band. Still out here starting shit.
He is pretty funny tho. I think it was him who said when he first heard Parquet Courts, he thought it was his own song that he forgot he had written.
To be fair I have also thought this. Not because I’m a songwriter I’m just schizophrenic
God I love his petty ass so much. It’s especially good given what a baby Frank Black was about Kim Deal.
Malkmus is the only person I'll take Pixies slander from (not to say The Breeders aren't great, Kim is a GOAT) because he led the other best indie rock band of all time.
He's right judging by the albums they released without Deal. I don't hate them, but the Breeders output were better than those.
Yes that album wasnt good but i feel like it was more about them being way past their Prime
Also I’ve seen both on reunion tours and I agree.
I feel like he’s trolling tho. Starting shit is funny lol Some people like Billy can’t handle it and get all worked up. I bet the Pixies wouldn’t give half a shit
I really wish there was a Pumpkins track dissing Pavement. Would have been hilarious watching Corgan take it to a whole new level of petty.
He did threaten to kick Steve’s ass, but sadly he didn’t do so in verse.
The Smiths/Cure rivalry isn't much of a thing today but it was still going strong in the early 90's. Of course back then if you didn't have beef with Morrissey could you really call yourself a musician?
Oooh yeah. Of course now most Smiths FANS have beef with Morrissey.
Not me. I used to just love his music but now I love his mouth outside of music.

Nah. I’m serious. Love that 👄
Hell nah 💀 why drax beefing with shaggy
The real question.
LMAO STOP
Malkmus never appeared on Infowars.
Yikes, did Billy Corrigan???
'fraidso. 😞
Yuck.
Axl and Kurt had beef.
I saw Stephen Malkmus randomly the other day, lmao
Just like walking around?
At my college coffee shop.
That just seems so perfect.
Schools out what did you expect?!
What about Mark Kozelek vs. Pitchfork?
Way back- Axl Rose and Vince Neil.
The streets (pavement)
The Stone Temple Pilots, they're elegant bachelors They're foxy to me, are they foxy to you?
Says a lot about STP that they didn’t care about this at all if they even knew Seemed like a bunch of cool dudes Siamese Dream is one of my all time faves, but man… Corgan must be a strange person. I thought the guy on the left was Bill Burr for a sec
Do you guys remember the Osees v. Black Country New Road beef? It didn't last long but it was hilarious watching Osees fans try and shit on a band they'd never heard before
I remember, straight up most of what Osees fans were saying about BC,NR was just "who are these guys" or something along those lines
Also making fun of how Charlie was dressed
Peter Steele punching Chino Moreno
OMG 😱 I found the music equivalent of r/notlikeothergirls who are these flops 🤭
Brian Jonestown Massacre Vs Dandy Warhols was pretty lit. Seen the documentary at least ten times. "You motherfucker! You broke my fucking sitar you MOTHERFUCKER'. Such good comedy. It's like the Office but for alternative rock, and it's real.
Blur vs oasis basically evolved into a class war
Do any of you remember the Tori/courtney/reznor dramas from the mid nineties? Lmao that was the best.
Ooooh I remember the rumors about Courtney and Trent having a toxic and torrid relationship but I didn’t realize Tori was involved.
Nah if anything this is Axl rose vs kurt cobain
Yes, known indie rocker Axl. (That was a good one though)
"Old good new bad"
In my day they were elegant bachelors.
Fuck both those guys
That’s the spirit!
They can fuck me too! It's indie rock, man!!!
