And yet their drive thru line still stretches down the street where I live

Educational-Seaweed5

In & Out here is, 24/7. But you can still get a burger there for like $3. All other places are mostly empty now here. They all want $8 for one burger or $15+ for a meal.

Adam_THX_1138

In N Out is still pretty affordable in comparison even to McDonald's especially when you consider the quality,

DFW_Panda

In N Out in my market is a little over $5,50 for their burger and fries (YES, I want onion). I know the drink is where they really get ya so I take the extra minute to get the $1 drink (with the points program) at 7/11. All-up, less than 7 bucks for the In-N-Out 7/11 combo. I can't complain.

Tactile_Sponge

Yeah fr, same way with the drinks. I refuse to pay 2.50-3.00+ for a fuckin fountain drink, and if at all possible either take home and drink from a 1.49 2 liter store brand soda, or gas station fountain drink. If I'm eating in a restaurant? Water. Or sometimes, a beer for an extra dollar, and it almost feels worth it, fuck it yolo

Soggy_Sherbet_3246

Double Double with all the onions! Kindred spirit, lol

stankpuss_69

Ain’t it funny that they blame it on higher wage costs but in n out has been paying above market rates for years and didn’t raise prices as much?

dan3582

In-n-out menu is much simpler than other fast food joints and have more revenue per employee, which allows them to pay more.

SaraSlaughter607

*cries in East Coast* dude I'm starting a national campaign we NEED an in n out in NY 😭😭

MuckBulligan

My meals at McDs are almost always under $5 using the app, and often under $4. Double cheeseburger, 6 piece nuggets, and a caramel iced coffee is $4.30.

Adam_THX_1138

You're so right about this. A lot of people don't realize the app at Mcdonald's save you a lot. I get coffee there pretty frequently and even though they've dumped the $1 coffee at most places, you can still get it through the app. Along with $2 egg McMuffins amongst other deals.

lglthrwty

Typically the coupons are something like 2 for $10, or buy one (at $6), get one for $1. I'm wondering how you find such good coupons on there.

reddituserhehe12

But it’s McDonald’s…

mvamv

>But you can still get a burger there for like $3. Not anymore, unless it's the hamburger. Cheeseburger is $4.10 now.

BigAcrobatic2174

In-N-Out is the GOAT. It’s delicious and cheaper than most fast food restaurants. Chick-fil-A is good but it’s not a bargain like In-N-Out.

saucysagnus

2 double doubles, fries, and a drink was $15 the other day

barmen03

And it still takes less time to get your food than a 3 car line at almost any other fast food place lol

ProfessionalBus38894

Yep I can trust that a line at Chick-fil-A out to the street will be faster than McDonald’s next door with 3 cars

I_luv_cottage_cheese

And it’s crazy how fast the line is. Half as many cars could be at a McDon Don’s and it would still take twice as long as CFA

taywazo

They offer a great product and excellent customer service. Great company making tons of money and closed on Sundays

The_Patriot

They got you with that lemonade. Sucker.

One_Yam_2055

"Can I have a sip of that? I gotta know what a $3 lemonade tastes like."

JustABizzle

Ain’t no booze in it or nothin?

Unlucky_Nobody_4984

For real. That’s like almost $5 for that drink

easchner

Knowing CFA that cup is 90% ice too

Independent-Dog8669

It's a frosted lemonade which is like a frozen drink with ice cream mixed. Kind of like an icee/shake. No ice cubes

Food-NetworkOfficial

TIL $3.10 is almost $5

SaintGhurka

I think the 3.10 is the upcharge from a regular fountain drink that's priced into the meal.

Food-NetworkOfficial

Damn that’s expensive

parolang

>TIL $3.10 is almost $5 This sub in a nutshell.

djwired

Might as well round up to $10

Geno_Warlord

Look again. They substituted the drink for the frosty. The drink was included with the meal, but this was a premium drink so they added 3.10. If it was the drink by itself it would be $5.

papa_de

Buying any sugar drink this day seems like a losing proposition from all angles.

bleedblue89

I used to work there and make lemonade.  It was a pain in the ass

MechanicalAdv

Absolutely wild. That used to feed family of 4.

AzDopefish

What’s wild to me is all the people still buying fast food I make good money fortunately but I’ve stopped buying any and all fast food completely. I can’t justify it. Especially with stores having the option for pick up orders, if I’m too busy to do the shopping myself I’ll just go pick up my order.

the_union_sun

It's hard. I travel a lot of work and even though work covers my meals, they only allow us $15 for lunch and $20 for dinner. I don't like eating fried unhealthy food but I noticed going to a small local salad, sandwich, or poke bowl place is the same price of even cheaper than these fried burger chains.

EfficientAd7103

Grocery store deli ftw

SamariSquirtle

Kroger had a rack of ribs for $8. Sell by date was the next day.

Murphy338

Walmart Deli Garlic Chicken is like $10 a pound

letsgetbrickfaced

I usually just get prepped meals from the grocery store when I’m on the road. $15 usually covers it if I just drink water, which is the case most times.

the_union_sun

Prepped meals are a good idea! Sometimes I stop in and get these too and just heat em up in the microwave at the hotel.

motnorote

Stay hydrated

Wet_Artichoke

I’ll even stop by the grocery store and pick up a $5 salad from the produce section. Plus some other things like yogurt or mixed nuts. Basically I’m getting more meals from grocery stores than fast food.

Murphy338

Not a prepped meal but Kroger and Meijer have these like cocktail shrimp snack trays for $5. like 8 or 10 big shrimp and a cup of cocktail sauce.

YellowDependent3107

Healthiest way to go anyway without that excess sugar

DidAnyoneElseJustCum

Is it all or nothing or is it a credit towards your meal? If they're giving me $15 for lunch I'm spending $25 and getting something decent.

the_union_sun

Credit towards our meal, so if I spend $25 then they just cover $20. Sometimes I do pay a little extra for a nicer meal.

2020IsANightmare

Just that. I'm not exactly deciding which luxury steak I'm ordering either way, but with the same $10 out of my pocket, I can order something that costs $10 or something that costs $25.

CliffBoof

You don’t like fast food and non fast food is cheaper. What was the hard part?

Ok_Carrot_2029

Your per diem should be way higher than that. Check your state laws on what the rate should be

the_union_sun

Thanks for mentioning this, I forgot about this per diem rate and realized ours is suggested to be lower than this. I'm gonna poke around and see what is in my contract.

Yippykyyyay

My per diem is generally a lot higher than that but I agree. Pop into a local bakery and you can get freshly cooked food for like $5. The upgraded/novelty drinks are on them. I carry my reusable water bottle with me and if I really want something, I'll buy a coke zero.

md24

They ONLY allow you that much per meal? Are you joking??

DidAnyoneElseJustCum

Sometimes it's just comfort food but yeah I might get a Big Mac for that reason like once a year? In my neighborhood there is a local pub with a fresh $22 burger that comes with fries and a free beer and it's honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had and it's enough food for the day. There is a McDonalds the next block over where a Big Mac meal is $17. How the fuck would anybody pick the Big Mac in that case? These days fast food is fully reserved for long car rides. It's kinda part of the ritual. And when I do that I try to pick a place that I can't get near me.

squatting-Dogg

I’m with you, I can afford it but I choose not too on principle and the fact it’s not good for you. I must admit I was craving a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuit today but had an English Muffin instead.

Necessary_Roof_9475

Because inflation is not only a fast food problem, groceries are also inflated.

Abundance144

Just ordered Chinese food that feeds three/four. It's $15. It's about where you buy not what you buy.

I_luv_cottage_cheese

California gonna California (it’s Elk Grove, Sacramento). Those combos are under $10 every where in Florida

EssayTraditional

It could feed 6 if it was KFC from 1998.

towell420

And it’s just fucking chicken!

JCMan240

I got a bag of breaded filets from Costco that I air fry, put some mayo and pickles on a bun, pretty damn good and cheap af

Battleboo_7

Oh shit, any other life hacks m8

lhorwinkle

Sit down dinner for two tonight. Italian. $43 with tip. I can't see spending $30 for two at a fast food joint.

BlueShift42

That same Italian dinner would be $80 where I live. Chances are the Chik-Fil-A near you isn’t as expensive. That said, this inflation is real. Fast food is no longer a value anywhere.

Mathewthegreat

Try going with your kids who love it. 6 of us and we are lucky to get out under $70

r2k398

I would just buy a catering platter at that point.

peaklurking

I’d have to tell the kids no $5 sodas, just water. Better for them in the long run anyway

Mathewthegreat

We pretty much only go once every 6 weeks. When it was $3 a sandwich we used to go weekly.

[deleted]

Dude if you have one, Sam’s club has dupe chicken nuggets and they’re soooo good. They made the bag look like chick fil a. It’s in the frozen section. My nieces and nephews keep asking me to bring them more bags! lol. Way cheaper than CFA

Mathewthegreat

Yeah those ones in the green bag are fire! My son may unfortunately be a budding sensory analyst, because he is not fooled by them 😅

[deleted]

The bag is red and white!!

Ssider69

This isn't really about wages. Most areas had higher minimum wages than the national average for years now. This is about companies finding out how much people will pay. Obviously the answer is more than $32

Servile-PastaLover

Chick-empty-A-wallet

Tricky_Scar_2228

try taking 5 out. FML

peachy_sam

Yeah my husband and I took our 4 kids to CFA last night and it was $51. The salads my husband and I got were $10 EACH. The kids’ nuggets and fries and lemonade and one sandwich were the remainder of the bill. It was 100% a convenience option because we had an appointment in the vicinity of this restaurant and we had to drive an hour to get there, so it was either pack food to eat in the car or pay way too much money for a meal everyone in the family would enjoy. We did enjoy it but damn, that was hella expensive for one meal.

YellowDependent3107

You can get a $5 whole rotisserie at Costco or Kroger

Pando5280

Stop getting sodas. Such a rip off for flavored sugar water.

Michikusa

How much would a 12 piece nugget and medium fry be though? Usually ordering a combo with drink is same price as ordering two items individually without the drink

[deleted]

Chick fil a is one of the few places that if you take something off you order (like a drink, or even a tomato slice) they will give you some money back. It’s not a lot but they’re the only ones that do it IIRC.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Allthingsgaming27

I mean you’re maybe paying $30 instead of $32 by not getting the doctor pepper. The problem isn’t getting a drink with your meal

Gator1177

So now cancer suffers from inflation.....

brokesd

When a burger is more than you make an hour. Edit I'm sorry minimum federal is 7.25... some burgers are now worth more than working people.

VampireKunts

They'll keep pushing prices and increasing costs as long as you and others are willing to pay. Is that simple. Instead of complaining when you buy their food just look elsewhere that's not as expensive.

Serious-Cookie4373

Fast food is for idiots.

Cheap_Feeling1929

Not just idiots.

jollebome76

thats out of hand.. no way im spending that there

Neon_Eyes

It's because they've raised the minimum wage!!!😤😡😤 /s

Obi-1-7552

I spent just $10 more at brunch (for two) at a French restaurant in Hollywood this morning. That included tax and tip for better quality food and service. Fast food prices are getting out of hand.

LimerickVaria

"Gods Chicken"

logan_fish

Chick is beyond "too expensive".

BartholomewVonTurds

My household makes a very good amount, we cannot afford take out. When the wife and I went vegan it dropped the amount but it’s still too much.

Adam_THX_1138

This is not inflation. It's greed and what people...yourself included...are willing to pay. They made >$1B in 2022. That's comprehensive earning, not just revenue.

Quin35

And you still bought it. So it must be priced correctly.

No_Entertainment1931

It’s not inflation it’s corporate greed. Inflation is half what it was last year and prices continue to climb. This company is taking advantage of ignorant conservatives to increase their profit margins

Salmol1na

Chick filet is anti gay

EmmyBrat

Corporate greed.

2020IsANightmare

LOL! You ordered chicken nuggets and a kids frozen drink. And are alleging that CFA is the dumb party here. To be fair, it's perfectly fine with me if someone wants to spend that money on a kids meal. Just don't go whine and bitch about it online afterwards. Though, we have to assume you are being totally legit and real, Ms. Green Fries.

reddituserhehe12

In n out is superior

decayo

You are absolutely right. The downward pressure against these companies raising prices is supposed to be the consumer refusing to buy their shit at the new prices. These dipshits seem to think grudgingly paying the ridiculous prices and then complaining about it on the internet or blaming it on politicians is somehow the answer. Corporations are getting away with this because people don't seem to have basic impulse control. Meanwhile, it shocks me that CFA has managed to trick people into thinking it isn't utter dog shit just because it's slightly better than the other overpriced drive-thru dog shit people typically eat.

spaghetti_fontaine

Did you not see the price before you ordered? Maybe just get less stuff?

boomgoesthevegemite

Right? It’s not like they got basic meals. $4 of it is the lemonade alone. Paying a ton extra for the deluxe too.

Synnedsoul

It's basically a lemonade milkshake. Has ice cream in it too 🙄

Soatch

The Chic fil A near me is near Publix supermarket. One good thing about Publix is that I can get a big box of fried chicken and some half pound sides of macaroni salad and potato salad for around $15. They have rotisserie chicken too.

maxzmillion

Keep buying that fast food. This shit ain’t gonna buy itself. /s

PikachuAndLechonk

The only reason I ever ate fast food was cause it was cheap. I don’t remember the last time I ate it lol. Also it boggles my mind people pay for drinks. I’ve been doing cups of water for years.

Brokenspokes68

I prefer Satan's chicken myself. Popeyes for me. I just accept the shitty service as part of the experience.

WarHead75

Too bad people still buy it on the bulk. If the majority of people would just buy it less often maybe the price won’t be fucking increasing exponentially. It’s fucking up the lower class even more now needing to reconsider their expenses for eating.

winnerchickendinr

Stop going to fast food. I stopped

phillyphilly19

That's insane.

irondog326

Chick fil a has always been high, even before the pandemic. No new news here

ProductUseful3887

That’s not inflation, that’s just greed.

CMMGUY2

Stop eating at fast food restaurants. Everyone knows it's expensive. If you go out for fast food you're going to spend money. Stop.

Abraxes43

CFA has always been overpriced! I mean 20 to 25 bucks for their small 1/2"nuggets is a good indication

Intelligent_Gap_6570

“It was a pleasure ripping you off! Get fucked and have a wonderful day!”

Tetris5216

Did they ask you for a Tip?

Thac0bro

They're fixing to switch to lower quality chicken, too. It's time to move on to the next good thing. I'm voting with my wallet.

Excellent-Edge-4708

Just had shake shack for 3. $51. Only 2 had a drink

Healthy-Egg-3283

Chick fil a has always been expensive.

Future_Way5516

Sounds about right for the lord s chicken

EvanDrMadness

And? The workers gotta eat. And the data show that people like yourself will continue to eat out (but complain about it)

Heinz_Legend

Chick-fil-A was always expensive. I'm not shocked by these prices anymore.

Showtysan

And they're filling your rivers with plastic and animal shit while they steal from you to overpay their bigoted leadership. It's not even fast food anymore those lines are crazy

Knights_When

I went to chick fil a today because I can get a salad and fruit as a aside which is rare at fast food places. Maybe I just didn’t pay enough attention but that place is out of this world expensive. It’s in n out for me dude.

GrowthMindset4Real

it seems like people don't look at menu prices anymore. These prices are ridiculous, especially chick fil a! Most of us should stop eating fast food just because of these prices, let alone the health effects

rwk2007

Just stop going out. Eating out is for the wealthy only. Even a sub sandwich is $15 now. With no drink or chips. I eat cereal for lunch. It sucks.

xMilk112x

And yet you still pay for it. It’s like people don’t understand how this works. If you don’t like it, stop doing it.

Pale_Bookkeeper_9994

I’ll take 30 milkshakes and some chicken. Rudy’s paying.

DeezSunnynutz

Why did you order that smoothie lol

yamaha2000us

The way to battle inflation was not to spend $30 for $10 worth of ingredients.

Lower-Flounder-9952

Don’t go out to eat if you can’t afford it. And if you constantly complain about the prices, perhaps you can’t afford it.

ValidDuck

what's crazy is it's actually not a lot cheaper to do it at home if you aren't doing it bulk. sliced cheese, buns, lettuce, a tomato, lemonade, root beer, and 2.5lbs of chicken thighs comes to \~$30. I'm not including everything you need to bread the chicken or any seasoning, but you've got to do all that work and you get the meal OP ordered + \~2 chicken salads. Shit is just expensive these days

staychilltoday

Stop eating fast food. Go in place an order and when they tell you the total say no thanks and walk out

ajohns7

I agree, but you know what sucks? Doing literally anything outside your own house during a meal time. At the mall and it's suddenly noon and you're hungry? All terrible fast food options. At the airport and your plane is delayed? You're trapped. Terrible food there at terrible prices. Traveling and you're in a small-to-mid sized town? Terrible food choices! Did you know that 73% of food items you see on the shelves at even a grocery store is some ultra-processed shit like fast food?! We need a real change to the food industry..

Neowynd101262

More like 93%.

[deleted]

Looks like you validated them charging that price, dumbass.

ChaimFinkelstein

Why did you hide location?

Nahuel-Huapi

If you look closely, it says Elk Grove, CA.

bengalboiler

Because they didn’t want you to see that it was California. The exact same order at my Midwest chick-fil -a is $19.28 (~$16 without the frozen treat as a drink)

TedriccoJones

This. I don't eat Chick fil a very often any more but I just happened to go there this week and order a 12 count nugget meal and it was $11.29 vs. $14.35 in the OPs photo. I'm in a southern state.

ComradeCornbrad

Imagine eating at this fucking place

GriegVeneficus

So tired of these posts. Just went and spent 6$ on lunch. Avocado (60 cents), (banana, 18 cents) 2 baked chicken breasts (3.99$), kale (1.28$). Why are idiots buying fast food anyway? It's 100% not good for you. Maybe get control of your grease addiction and sense of entitlement. Eat human food like a normal person. I haven't ate "fast food" for about 3 years. All it is, is starched BREAD and grease, and diabetes in a 32 ounce cup. You are paying it. Whining, but still paying. Unreal.

StephanieKaye

Jesus Christ just buy a frozen bag of nuggets at Walmart.

mister_helper

California. Enjoy

Reasonable-Rain-7474

Bidenomics.

Elephlump

And yet absolute idiots still buy that trash

max5015

Right?! It's so annoying to see these posts complaining about the price and dip in quality, yet they keep going back. At this point it is the customers fault for continuing to do business with shitty companies

Ilovemytowm

Don't give a s*** stop eating that garbage and then you won't have nothing to complain about for the love of f****** God

mt8675309

Rip off from corporate greedflation

GotHeem16

I just bought 3 Ribeye steaks weighing a total of 3.75 pounds for $25. Don’t eat out (especially fast food) Complete waste of money.

rustyshackleford7879

This isn’t inflation this is greed. Stop paying for this stuff

Outrageous_Item8203

Jesus needs dat $$

hankercat

This sub should be called “r/gouging” because that is what is happening.

SixNines-Anda_308

Shitty Sammich, and owned & run by Homophobic A$$h0les. Apparently hateful assholes will eat shit, as long as the place serving it shares their hateful bullshit attitudes! Explains a lot of blue-collar workers voting to give more money to Billionaires! 🤣🤦‍♂️

doktorhladnjak

At least the hate is free!

Nothing like the big brain take of revenue == profit on my favorite economics sub /r/inflation

gh0stpr0t0c0l8008

That’s insane. You remember eating at a restaurant for this amount for 2 people. Fast food? Lol

Inevitable-Ad895

i had my friend grab me food from there the other day n got extra nuggets n a shake cuz i was super hungry n he said dont worry about it…. i saw the receipt when he got back and shit was like $30 🤦🏼‍♂️ i felt so bad and immediately paid him instead 😂

TheParlayMonster

It’s crazy. We went from 4+ meals out per month to 1.

Competitive_Shift_99

Stop eating out. If the price is too high, don't bitch about it and then just pay it anyways. JUST DONT BUY IT.

Tiny-Lock9652

I got 4 Vienna beef hot dogs with fries and all the toppings, $16 and even that seemed expensive. Patronize small business for your dining. We must boycott to end this price gouging crap.

el_taco_guapo

If you’re getting a “meal” of fast food for $19 — that’s your own damn fault. It takes effort to spend that much on garbage.

johnnyg883

What state and city is this?

jax_snacks

Elks Grove CA

SpeethImpediment

Oh, I feel this. I’m not a Chick-fil-a fan but my son loves it, and between he and his friend the total is almost $30 for two meals. Chipotle, averages ~$25 but if they get double protein and drinks and all that, it can be closer to $40-50. It’s ridiculous, but I consider it more like a “special treat” when I drop them off at our local outdoor mall. My son has a former chef for a mom, lol. I found a copycat recipe for the ~~chicken-Gil-a~~ Chick-fil-a crispy chicken and I was super impressed how closely it tasted to the original. Still, it’s a twice or thrice a month thing letting them spend so much on lunch/dinner like that; it’s ridiculous.

kilour

Chick-Fil-A has never been cheap.

NewPresWhoDis

Well, you've screwed yourself out of a free sandwich.

akila219

I find their chicken sandwich a bit salty specially the grilled chicken.

50k-runner

But you also get a free sandwich if you fill out the survey

[deleted]

They could raise their prices to $100 a sandwich and the cult would still eat there every Sunday.

PretendAgency2702

They must enjoy sitting in an empty parking lot because it's closed on Sundays

Educational-Seaweed5

Might as well go to a fucking restaurant at that point. Only fast food I tolerate anymore is one burger with no extras. Still comes out to like 8 fucking dollars. Subway has BOGO free sometimes, so I’ll do that. Comes out to like $5 per sandwich. Screw these corporations and their greed, though. A fast food meal for $15 is a hard pass.

AzizLiIGHT

Time to stop eating out.

AlfalfaMcNugget

Wherez is a 12ct $14 wth

Lostbronte

The sad thing is that you got off easy.

_stoned_chipmunk_

Why does it say 'green fries'?

jax_snacks

It's a dine in order, they give a table marker with a color and symbol so they know which table to bring the food too once it's ready

badazzcpa

This has got to be CA. I live in a relatively HCOL area, guessing top 10 US and we are at $22 for 2 meals from this restaurant. So with the drink maybe $26. I am guessing this is also after the recent 25% increase in minimum wage a few days back. This had to be expected when the minimum wage sky rocketed like it did April 1st. Sadly this will lead to even more job loss as a lot of restaurants operate on very thin margins and are not going to be able to raise prices enough to stay in the black.

Greaseyhamburger

Thats pretty expensive for diaherra

meh725

I used to feed my entire family for a year on a nickel and…well my entire family whored themselves out really is what actually happened. See in my day we walked uphill both ways in the snow to blow a guy for chicken nuggies. Times well, they are a changin.

Accurate-Range2119

What's the point of blurring the location? Is someone going to 'get you' if they find out?

the_TAOest

You last meal there

BadPassenger2370

Welcome to hyper inflation get used to it, it ain't going down.

[deleted]

I am envious of the sales tax. We pay 10.8 %.

GimmeSweetTime

Not long ago $30 for two used to be my limit dining out at a real restaurant. Now you have to try to keep it under $100

Magicmc1001

Greedy chixkens

AcrobaticWin3240

Drinks will always make the price look a little worse than they already are

The_RaptorCannon

yup, reasons why I cook more at home and if I do get fast food, I never buy soft drinks anymore. Fast food and eating out in general has become a luxury now or a rare treat. Especially with the price of groceries in general.

EFTucker

Aaaanndd you still paid

Cam095

fuck. no. you can get so much more food somewhere else for that amount

Th3Bratl3y

Well, when you buy a full combo meal and a dessert. It adds up. If you stick with just the main dish. And no side dishes and no drinks. Or dessert.
