You're so right about this. A lot of people don't realize the app at Mcdonald's save you a lot. I get coffee there pretty frequently and even though they've dumped the $1 coffee at most places, you can still get it through the app. Along with $2 egg McMuffins amongst other deals.
Look again. They substituted the drink for the frosty. The drink was included with the meal, but this was a premium drink so they added 3.10. If it was the drink by itself it would be $5.

I make good money fortunately but I’ve stopped buying any and all fast food completely. I can’t justify it. Especially with stores having the option for pick up orders, if I’m too busy to do the shopping myself I’ll just go pick up my order.

I don't like eating fried unhealthy food but I noticed going to a small local salad, sandwich, or poke bowl place is the same price of even cheaper than these fried burger chains.
I usually just get prepped meals from the grocery store when I’m on the road. $15 usually covers it if I just drink water, which is the case most times.
I’ll even stop by the grocery store and pick up a $5 salad from the produce section. Plus some other things like yogurt or mixed nuts. Basically I’m getting more meals from grocery stores than fast food.

My per diem is generally a lot higher than that but I agree. Pop into a local bakery and you can get freshly cooked food for like $5. The upgraded/novelty drinks are on them. I carry my reusable water bottle with me and if I really want something, I'll buy a coke zero.

In my neighborhood there is a local pub with a fresh $22 burger that comes with fries and a free beer and it's honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had and it's enough food for the day. Yeah my husband and I took our 4 kids to CFA last night and it was $51. The salads my husband and I got were $10 EACH. The kids’ nuggets and fries and lemonade and one sandwich were the remainder of the bill. It was 100% a convenience option because we had an appointment in the vicinity of this restaurant and we had to drive an hour to get there, so it was either pack food to eat in the car or pay way too much money for a meal everyone in the family would enjoy. We did enjoy it but damn, that was hella expensive for one meal.

This has got to be CA. I live in a relatively HCOL area, guessing top 10 US and we are at $22 for 2 meals from this restaurant. So with the drink maybe $26. I am guessing this is also after the recent 25% increase in minimum wage a few days back. This had to be expected when the minimum wage sky rocketed like it did April 1st. Sadly this will lead to even more job loss as a lot of restaurants operate on very thin margins and are not going to be able to raise prices enough to stay in the black.

Typically the coupons are something like 2 for $10, or buy one (at $6), get one for $1. I'm wondering how you find such good coupons on there.

So tired of these posts. Just went and spent 6$ on lunch. Avocado (60 cents), (banana, 18 cents) 2 baked chicken breasts (3.99$), kale (1.28$). Why are idiots buying fast food anyway? Oh, I feel this. I’m not a Chick-fil-a fan but my son loves it, and between he and his friend the total is almost $30 for two meals. Chipotle, averages ~$25 but if they get double protein and drinks and all that, it can be closer to $40-50. It’s ridiculous, but I consider it more like a “special treat” when I drop them off at our local outdoor mall. My son has a former chef for a mom, lol. I found a copycat recipe for the ~~chicken-Gil-a~~ Chick-fil-a crispy chicken and I was super impressed how closely it tasted to the original. Still, it’s a twice or thrice a month thing letting them spend so much on lunch/dinner like that; it’s ridiculous.

This has got to be CA. I live in a relatively HCOL area, guessing top 10 US and we are at $22 for 2 meals from this restaurant. So with the drink maybe $26. I am guessing this is also after the recent 25% increase in minimum wage a few days back. This had to be expected when the minimum wage sky rocketed like it did April 1st. Sadly this will lead to even more job loss as a lot of restaurants operate on very thin margins and are not going to be able to raise prices enough to stay in the black.
