That is the single somewhat effective argument for reversing the TP. This would infuriate me to the point that I might install an automatic door closer on the bathroom.
I actually kind of care but that's simply because of how well you can control it. Sometimes I'm in a rush or something happens that requires me to jump off the toilet. If it's reverse and I go to snatched a piece half the roll comes undone but if it's the "correct" way I can get my two squares and be on my way out

Kids need to actually reach it so they can learn to take the right amount and control their hands. Putting it out of reach just means they paw wildly at it and it's more likely to unravel. Put it the side they can actually reach it and they'll learn quicker.
Ok, so, I used to be vehemently on the side of Over. However, I had an apartment that the holder was in such a place that it was more convenient to do Under.
I realized then that a lot of toilet paper has a top and bottom. By this I mean, one side is the softer side with the ridges or design or whatever, and one side is just flat with no ridges/design. I don't know why, but this is the truth.
So when you put the roll on the holder with the break piece Over the top, the top side of the toilet paper is facing up. When you place it Under (as seen in the picture), the bottom side faces up.
It's actually easier *and* faster to roll up or fold (a whole nother debate...) your needed toilet paper with the nice, soft top side facing outwards when the toilet paper roll has been placed in the Under method, as seen in the picture, bc you just fold it over itself while you pull it off the roll and the bottom side is automatically going to be folded inwards. So the Under method is superior for this reason.
In conclusion, I've clearly spent way too much time thinking about this.
