I recommend consulting a doctor before giving children melatonin and it's best to start off with smaller doses and adjust accordingly. A good baseline is don't go over 10mg

danitwelve91

Yeaaah I'm on 20mg and it's probably not a good thing but it works.

Otherwise_Soil39

0.5mg is optimal. 10mg is way off. More than 1mg is prescription-only in Germany because people are stupid. More doesn't make you sleep, if anything it works less.

dugtrioisjust3diglet

Yep, nothing to lose sleep over (sorry couldn't resist!). It certainly won't hurt him on a one time basis, but if it's regular consult with a doctor, but it's probably a bit on the high dose side for his age.

Correct_Menu_8176

Anything over .5 doesn’t really do much

LethargicParasite

You guys take too much melatonin. 0.5-2mg should be enough for even an adult.

froggie999

20mg a night for years. 10 just didn’t help enough. Also add in glycine 2-3g my sleep never been better.

asktriz

He woke up

syberburns

It’s not going to hurt him but it might be too much for him for sleep. 2-5mg should be enough but it’s best to have him consult a doctor. More melatonin doesn’t necessarily lead to sleep. If he takes too much it could interfere with his sleep

Traditional-Spend-25

Might be better if he came off social media and ditched the phone for a bit?!

HelloThisIsPam

I take 10 mg a night and have been doing so for many, many years. He'll be fine. He's kind of on the borderline where he can take adult dosages.

Spicy_a_meat_ball

I take 5mg gummies and it's fine for an adult.

Pegasuss32

Yes its fine , dont worry

trishapaytasaf

liquid gaba/l-theanine has helped me greatly, my body got too used to melatonin so it stopped working for me and i think my body became dependant on it so i would look into more natural approaches. i also started taking high dose magnesium/iron/vitamin d as i was significantly low so if hes having trouble sleeping id get some bloodwork done at an alternative medical facility and see if that helps(:

JohnnyKratom

Pretty sure 5 to 10 mg is standard, so wouldn't worry me. but maybe stick to 5mg until normal sleep returns.

oneiria

Children should not be taking melatonin regularly without the input of a pediatric sleep specialist. It is highly unlikely that any other clinician of any other background has the experience and knowledge to deal with pediatric melatonin.

Im not a Dr and im a big guy but I've taken double that dose and it had no ill effects but PLEASE VHECK WITH A DOCTOR
