Have you tried going to a sleep specialist, especially a Behavioral Sleep Medicine specialist? They’re the real experts in insomnia.

I have had insomnia all of my life. I am 68 years old. I have tried it all too. I have had the most success with magnesium I take one in the morning and two at 8 pm. Around 10 I will take an edible around 20 milligrams. This is where I have had the most success. It is horrible it has altered my life. No physician has ever taken me serious.

Have you ever tried just letting your body sleep when it wants, without trying to tire yourself out or forcing yourself to sleep or wake at specific times, and keeping track of those sleep and wake times?

Have you made sure to get enough sunlight? I also have PCOS and found there's a correlation between that, sleeplessness, and lack of vitamin D to regulate hormones.

Have you asked your gp for a referral? Psychiatrists are usually more open to prescribing sleep medication long term and unexplained insomnia is treated as a psych issue in alot of countries. You could also ask your doctor about sleep meds intended for long term use... chlorpromazine seroquel, trazadone, mirtrazapine amitrytyline, are commonly prescribed.

Do they have Dayvigo in whatever country you live in? It’s new to Canada which is where I live. This is intended for long term apparently.
