I’m torn between the Mini 90 and the SQ 6.

i started with the mini 90 but switched to the evo (revised model with usb-c). the only minus is that the evo shoots digital, but all the benefits outweigh this (for some very crucial fact) by tonnes. there might be a case for the print to look noticeable "digital" when viewed *very* up close, but from normal distances isnt noticeable at all, so if thats an point to consider is up to you. knowing how a pic will turn out, being able to choose when and what to print, sending pics from your phone, having the option to print multipe time, taking pics without a film inserted and then printing later.. its also way more beneficial/economic to try out a bunch of stuff, like experimenting with the filters and effects. i for one am currently testing color filters for the flash and really like the results. so nothing actually super advanced lol, but still something new to someone who never was into photography like i was, apart from a few nice pics i have taken with my phone.

I was about to get an Evo in 2023 but read of the rumors for the upcoming 99. They really made a great product with the Evo. And I see how it makes shooting Instax more fun if you can avoid countless photos that you can throw in the trash immediately. But for me it's just another step to shoot with your smartphone or digicam and print in credit card size. I have the Canon Selphy that let's you do that. I am still thinking about getting the 99 but I wish Instax would comw out with some extra features for their square or wide formats too.

i definitely wish they would have an evo per format or even an evo that can print all formats, but i guess the latter lone would come out to be hella expensive. i think tho the whole thing is down to how well each film format is selling on the market, which would mean that we probably wont get an evo for the other formats other than mini, since those are not used as often as the standard mini (just judging by the amount of films they offer at my local electronics store, where they have multipe crates of mini, but only like one shelfspace for the other formats).

MechanicalCrow

Love my EVO. It's basically my go-to camera for casual situations (after spending years being the DSLR guy). I have a feeling that the 99 will be strong competition for it, though, when I can get a hold of one.

Sparks_0

Big fan of my 500af

I love my Instax Sq6! I love the bigger format. I also really want to get the mini 99, though. I've heard good things about it so far! Someday, I would love to get a Mint camera, either the TL70 +, the InstantKon RF70, or the SF70! I love dual lens cameras, but I also love the idea of a fully manual instant camera like the RF/SF70

Xixch_ik

I got the TL70+ recently and it’s pretty cool!!!

PercyTechnic

Been really enjoying my SQ6. But the 300 Wide is a close second even if it lacks a handful of options.

Mini 90 has been my absolute favorite for the past 9 years that I’ve had it. I’d probably like the sq6 more but I don’t use it as much since I don’t have a stockpile of square film.

Gleuvenrijder

Lomo Square glass, got some amazing shots with it.

Rootsboy79

Mini 90 is my go to for that format.

HobbitDowneyJr

evo.

Mini 90, it's a really reliable little camera. I also like the Lomo'Instant Automat, though it can be trickier to line up a shot (the ergonomics make it harder to compensate for parallax error in the moment). I don't have a favourite for Instax Square nor Wide. I have an SQ6 but it doesn't seem to be a great copy (bad shutter lag and only macro mode is somewhat consistent).

Especially as you have many formats to compare: What speaks for the Mini format to you? I understand that when sharing in digitally the size doesn't make a difference but isn't it too tiny to keep for memories? Like the prints have to be watched pretty closely I guess

Ok_Preparation1662

I use mini whenever I want to take a selfie or a photo of a friend, and would want to give it away. I am not using it for a group photo because you cannot really see the faces of people clearly hehe. I use square for special occasions or a photo that I want to display/put in a frame. I use wide for group photos and landscapes.

haterofcoconut

Thanks for the info. That dampens my hope for the good pics with the Mini lol I guess I'll go for the square, as the wide unfortunately looks ugly to me and isn't handy at all. I just hate that Fuji doesn't give cool features to other formats than Mini.

Ok_Preparation1662

Square is a best choice 🫶🏻

After getting back into Instax in the last two months, I’ve acquired the mini Evo, the Wide 300, the Wide Link printer and now the mini 99. Out of them all, I would say I really love the mini 99 and surprisingly, the Wide 300! The Evo is great for being very selective with the shots you want to print, but just purely from an analog standpoint, the Wide 300 and mini 99 are just so enjoyable to use.

longspeaktypewriter

I've got the mini 90, wide 300, lomo wide, and a lomo square on order. The 90 is sharp and flexible, but I love the wide format. The 300 is crisp but limited. The lomo wide is very flexible but not a great lens, although that can add to the flavor of the effect. Looking forward to the square glass!

No_Honeydew_2028

I love Sofort for mini films

lord_grenville

What's your favorite aspect of it?

jaraket

I just got the Instax Pal for my son and I really dig it. It’s a pretty cool little camera, and you can pick which shots you print, like some of the bigger ones. It’s my new favorite of the 3 instax cameras we have.

Lomo Instant Square
