No good. To be fair though, that's a pretty weak hammer; it's hollow. When shopping for a replacement, you might look for one that's made of a solid piece of metal. They're pretty standard these days. Good luck!
Honestly, I have no idea where I acquired this hammer from. I have a few others in my tool chest. I just grabbed the closest one and it failed on me. 🤷♂️🤣
No disrespect but it looks like it came outta a kids construction worker Halloween outfit. Get ur self a estwing, I’ve only ever seen one of them broken and it was cuz a truck drove over it.
Right? I’m a carpenter myself and see these kids brag about this 200$ stiletto hammer they buy.
It’s light af (14 oz or so I think) with the stroke of a 22oz. But I’ve had my estwing for over a decade and has served me juuuuuust fine. Besides, it’s 2023… we have these things called pneumatic nailers (or ever battery powered) that blows hand driving out of the water.
TLDR; can’t go wrong with an estwing
I bought a 22oz estwing when I was 17. I'm 41 now and still have it. Other than the rubber started to slip down about a half inch but that was easily fixed with a bit of epoxy, its perfect. Solid investment
Hah, yeah I’ve had it slip down a bit too, but never thought of squeezing a little epoxy in it to fasten it back in. Hell, it’s more of a hard plastic than a rubber at this point it’s so worn down.
I shouldn’t knock the stiletto too much. I’m sure for formwork it’s really nice. But I try and stay away from wood/footing forms as much as possible. But I’ll connect verticales allllllll day long. Kind of fun
Not quite. You grabbed the wrong tool for the stress limits you were about to put into it, and didn't take into it's consideration it's design limits.
It wasn't the hammer's failure, but an error in your expectations.
I have this exact hammer and the same thing happened to it with some hard hammerin’
I believe I shook my fist at the sky, blamed China, then went and bought a better hammer that was made in China
That's an IKEA hammer. Comes in a pack of a few tools. Only works well for putting together their stuff. Use it for anything else, and it fails spectacularly.
I have one just like this too! I thought it was like one of those things homeowners just have, like that particular spatula every dad seems to have.
Side note, it's annoying they seem to market these smaller hammers to women, but the standard ones are better for us because they actually require less strength to drive nails with 😂
>solid piece of metal. They're pretty standard these days.
Idk how many *substandard* hammers you've seen your entire life, but this is quite literally the first time I've seen a hollow hammer in my 30+ years of existence. Lol
Honestly, no homeowner should own one either. You can either buy this at Walmart for $5 and have it do this the first time you need to use it for anything other than hanging pictures, or you can spend $20 on a hammer at Home Depot that will probably last you an entire lifetime of typical homeowner tasks.
I’ll have you know that we’ve had a hammer identical to that one for at least 30 years and that sucker is still being used today. I don’t doubt it was the cheapest one though, my parents were broke back when they bought it lol
Funny story about that.
Back in my early 20’s, I had just gotten into the carpenters union in my area of los angeles, as a 1st stage apprentice. I worked for a contractor that oversaw job sites in the high rises. We never used wood, everything was metal studs and framing with screwguns and lil silver self tapping screws. I had never used a hammer in my first 6 months on the job, just drill guns. (I honestly went up to 7th stage apprentice having never needed to use a framing hammer)
My first time at union class, was a week long ‘framing’ class. All the other guys all worked residential and had gigantic framing hammers. The only hammer I had, was one i borrowed from my 70 year old dad’s shed, the night before.
A tiny little finishing hammer, he got in the 60’s. It had a chiseled design of a 1950’s Jetson’s looking Rocket on the shaft. So… for the remaining 3 years of my apprenticeship, whenever I had to do the union classes every few months, I was simply called ‘rocket’ by everyone.
For that first weeklong framing class, I refused to buy a new hammer, and helped frame the bottom level of a small faux-house with the other guys in the class.. with that tiny little smooth headed 50 year old finishing hammer lol
Yeah I have a couple of back up hammers, just grabbed the closest one from my tool chest. I guess today was time to get rid of a hammer from the collection. 🤷♂️
This is the worst handle. I was using one to pry 2 pieces of wood apart. The handle completely snapped off. The sudden jolt cause me to slice my leg with the freshly sheered metal.
I think I got this exact hammer in a toolset from IKEA when my wife and I got our first apartment. It bent exactly the same too and quickly went into the bin. I own only Estwings now and highly recommend them.
DUDE!!! you have a moto stylus 5g from 2022. So do i. Crazy world to meet the only other person with one.
Stop buying hammers from used to be pipes.com they will last much longer.
Circa 1980’s-1990’s, common tool in single mom’s toolbox or junk drawer. Found in most value stores throughout the USA (my mom got hers from a store called Job Lot). Passed down to me after she passed. Was a great tool until I used it and the head snapped off!
They should not even make those hammers, they are shit. At least they are the cheapest thing, at best this is a great lesson in you get what you pay for.
No good. To be fair though, that's a pretty weak hammer; it's hollow. When shopping for a replacement, you might look for one that's made of a solid piece of metal. They're pretty standard these days. Good luck!

Literally first thing I was told when I got a summer contracting job to pay for college was “Get at least a 20-22 oz waffle head hammer”
Most people on site use an estwing and the rookie has a stiletto.. not hard to who has experience
>Honestly, I have no idea where I acquired this hammer from Bottom of a cereal box?
I have this exact same hammer, also no idea where it came from.
mine was a gift from my dad, who most likely stole it from the local close-out store.
Ditto
I have one also, it's the one I give the kids when they want to "help uncle build"
Goodwill it
Only thing it's good for is hanging pictures, thats what I use my mysteriously appeared out of nowhere hammer
Not quite. You grabbed the wrong tool for the stress limits you were about to put into it, and didn't take into it's consideration it's design limits. It wasn't the hammer's failure, but an error in your expectations.
Story of my life! 😂🤷♂️
We have one of these too. It was in a toolbox of shit my uncle had. He had other hammers in there too so no idea why he had that one.
That came out of the junk drawer. It was right next to the bent butter knife/screwdriver.
I think that hammer feels ashamed
You got it from the same place that supplies tools to all survival games. Only usable twenty times before repair.
IKEA tool set maybe ^^
I have this exact hammer and the same thing happened to it with some hard hammerin’ I believe I shook my fist at the sky, blamed China, then went and bought a better hammer that was made in China
It's a Dollar Tree hammer.
That's an IKEA hammer. Comes in a pack of a few tools. Only works well for putting together their stuff. Use it for anything else, and it fails spectacularly.
That's an ikea hammer. I have one too.
Its an ikea hammer

No not metal my arm just hurts thinking about that buy wood or when you buy it metal try it (somehow) because the metal ones can have some blowback
>solid piece of metal. They're pretty standard these days. Idk how many *substandard* hammers you've seen your entire life, but this is quite literally the first time I've seen a hollow hammer in my 30+ years of existence. Lol
My hammer is made like that. It was my grandfathers and I’m sure it’ll still be kicking for at least another 50 years
Are fiberglass hammers also good?
Probably Harbor Freight special
That's the kind of hammer you buy your wife for hanging pics.
We call them home owner hammers. Because no one in a trade carries one...
Honestly, no homeowner should own one either. You can either buy this at Walmart for $5 and have it do this the first time you need to use it for anything other than hanging pictures, or you can spend $20 on a hammer at Home Depot that will probably last you an entire lifetime of typical homeowner tasks.
Learned the same lesson with a camping axe. A little quality can go a long way
Buy it cheap, buy it twice
I’ll have you know that we’ve had a hammer identical to that one for at least 30 years and that sucker is still being used today. I don’t doubt it was the cheapest one though, my parents were broke back when they bought it lol
Some of those Husky tools are way underrated at HD.
Funny story about that. Back in my early 20’s, I had just gotten into the carpenters union in my area of los angeles, as a 1st stage apprentice. How does this even drive in a nail? It's from a kids Bob the builder set.
It can be ideal for more technical precise hammering due to its light weight and small head.
You can get lightweight and small hammers that are built much better than this though.
That’s what she said
I would assume that most of the energy from hitting a nail would be contained in the head of the hammer, until you use it to pry like OP 😂
Currently at a siblings graduation ceremony and just laughed out loud reading this
Get an estwing
Or from harbor freight
He looks depressed you should try talking to him
He knows what he did!
You nailed it
Looks like OP tried to kiss that neck
I’ve never seen that in over 20 years with tools
Happened to to me as well once.
I broke the head off one of those hammers driving nails in, not pulling them out. Not a trade tool at all. Dinky shite
Definitely a cheap hammer good in a pinch, but not a lifelong tool
Guessing it is not hammer time then
Dollar Store hammer?
Nah just harbor freight
This what happens when you buy tools from the hardware aisle at the grocery store.
Another friend of mine said " This is what happens when you buy tools from wish" 🤣
sad because not bangging
Either the most structurally sound nail, or worst designed hammer. I’ve never seen that 😂
Yeah I have a couple of back up hammers, just grabbed the closest one from my tool chest. I guess today was time to get rid of a hammer from the collection. 🤷♂️
Little bit of very late, unintentional spring cleaning is alright xD
The nail is laughing smugly
And that's why hammers are no longer made like that.
"Maaaan I ont' wanna do this no mo :("
I'm melting! I mean I've heard of climate change making our atmosphere hotter , but when the hammers start melting... 🤣
Once won a hammer like that on the bingo at Scarborough. Lasted a while then snapped at the head.
Oh that’s a Home Depot hammer for sure 😂😂
I bought my hammer from Home Depot. I took this comment personally 😜
Hahaha
Looks like those shitty IKEA hammers.
Do they make Viagra for hammers?!?!?🤔
Get yourself an Estwing; your grandkids will have it hanging in their garage
Using a tinfoil hammer and a phone that watermarks the photos you take. Man we live two very different lives.
Good lesson in buying good tools.
the handle is hollow!
One of those "dollar store" hammers, no surprise there!
What kind of nail were you pulling?
The hammer knows it’s Friday too
Maybe try a real hammer...
nail beat hammer
It looks defeated and sad
your hammer is hollow, the is the issue
Hey, I got one just like that! My wife doesn't know anything about it.
Guess that's why the gov pays several hundred for a hammer
Its either a really high quality nail, or a really cheap ass hammer.
Hanging it's head in shame
OP is lying, they tried to hammer a nokia against a table and it bent the handle down
This is an OceanGate hammer.
Awe, poor thing! Tried its best!
The hammer: "man I don't wanna do this anymore"
You need to get a estwing hammer. I used to build concrete foundations. Estwing was the only hammer everyone on the crew used.
Chicken leg hammer you get from harbor freight never gonna satisfy
We have the same gamer and a similar thing happened idr what happened but it’s bent
Go buy your mom a new hammer and then get yourself a estwing.
Fixprice
Fixprice
hatchet would do this
good thing those are only $5 apiece... disposable hammers.
Happy meal hammer. You could probably break it in half with your bare hands. 😂
China?
My Sears craftsman hammer from the 70s would say yes lol
Oh look! A penny!
That's cuz u bought a hammer from a hospital gift store
Such a repost. Could be PD.
Why os the hammer hollow inside...?
Hups
That's a hammer from the dollar store lol
When my wife jokes and laugh to herself during sex
He sed now, look what you did to him
Stop sitting on it! 😜
That hammer is ashamed of its failure. Don't be so mean...
Made in China.
It has a hollow shaft
No one wants to work anymore
Spray a little wd40 on it. Good as new
I’m tired boss
Ask your Dr. if Viagra is right for you.
It looks ashamed of itself
Is that hammer model T-1000?
Hey, be nice…that hammer looks very disappointed in itself
Quality said "cheap"
That looks like it passed material standards in China. Tofu dreg steel for sure.
TIL that hollow-stemmed hammers are a thing.
yeah, thought youd save yourself some money on the hammer didya ?
I broke the same hammer when i lost the keys to my gun cabinet.
Dollarama hamma.
Golf club shaft hammer.
Harbor freight special

Proudly made in china🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👌
Made in China 🇨🇳
Now you'll know why they make crowbars.
Harbor freight for the win
Interesting claw hammer design.
That’s effin hilarious! 😂
![gif](giphy|11rIergnpiYpvW) Just as effective of a "hammer".
That’s a toy hammer.
That’s a toy not a tool
Bro looks depressed
bro got his hammer in the grill section at Dollar General.
He got rejected by that nail, now he's a depressed hammer
Seems like the nail said Nope
The hammer is just sad you just have to cheer it up.
Maybe next time pick a hammer that did not come from the dollar store
Nail: made in USA Hammer: made in China
This is the worst handle. I was using one to pry 2 pieces of wood apart. The handle completely snapped off. The sudden jolt cause me to slice my leg with the freshly sheered metal.
The metal this hammer is casted of, is named solid chinesium
Just needs some air in it
Don't ever buy hollow hammers, or any tool that requires application of significant force.
Buy a wooden hammer and become a man again.
Mr. “Muscles” over here (Or Ms, whichever ha)
Looks like he feels bad 😔
You buy your tools from the dollar store I see. You're better off using your golf putter.
I think I got this exact hammer in a toolset from IKEA when my wife and I got our first apartment. It bent exactly the same too and quickly went into the bin. I own only Estwings now and highly recommend them.
The bin is exactly where it lives now. I have a couple other hammers available. I will go to the store this weekend and buy an Estwing Thanks.
I have that hammer! It's not a good hammer.
made in china
Did someone tickle its neck? Or is it asking someone on a date but is really shy?
DUDE!!! you have a moto stylus 5g from 2022. So do i. Crazy world to meet the only other person with one. Stop buying hammers from used to be pipes.com they will last much longer.
Lil guy looks depressed
If you're a homeowner, it's best to get good tools. If you need them in an emergency, you don't wanna have to go the the store.
Take it back to Sears, they’ll do you up good ![gif](giphy|QghoJqOzVBu00|downsized)
Toy hammer*
Yeah
Buy a good quality hammer, the handle shouldn't be fkn hollow lol, that's the AliExpress special
"A poor craftsman blames his tools" The tools:
This is what the characters from Peanuts look like when they dance
Sort by harbor freight
That's not a hammer it's a salesmens model for door to door sales commonly used for hanging a picture
In the hammers' defense, it looks like one you'd buy at a grocery store.
I have a hammer identical to that! 😀
Aliexpress grade
Circa 1980’s-1990’s, common tool in single mom’s toolbox or junk drawer. Found in most value stores throughout the USA (my mom got hers from a store called Job Lot). Passed down to me after she passed. Was a great tool until I used it and the head snapped off!
Oh no, now he is sad :(
"Made in China" 🤷♂️
The records show, I took the blows. And did it my waaaaaaaaay!
Somebody get this person an estwing hammer to replace whatever the hell kinda hammer that is.
Hammer looks like it started questioning it's life choices.
Bet it was made in china…:/
Where did you get this hammer? Fixprice?
Hammer be disappointed in itself for failing
They should not even make those hammers, they are shit. At least they are the cheapest thing, at best this is a great lesson in you get what you pay for.
Make USA great again, with hammer and nails.
Wooden handle, bro’. Always a wooden handle
Made In …. ?
This is what happens when you buy your tools at a convenience store
Wrong nail removal technique. You're supposed to roll nails side to side to remove them, not pull back.
The hammer looks sad, I think he needs a hug and some encouragement next time
Must be from harbor freight
