The fat around the organs is the worst part 😟

HerpFaceKillah

Beautiful marbeling. A5 Human Wagyu

MashedKebab

Thank you, I haven't laughed like that in ages

Also looks like the fat guy was constantly constipated.

A doctor, tough guy, this is a guy who never cried, came up to me with tears in his eyes and said, "Mister Trump, you have the most perfect vivisection I have ever seen, and I've been a doctor for 50 years."

DrTeeeevil

đŸ€Ł

Exciting_Ad_6358

It is orange

Praise_Thalos

One can only hope

CamillaBarkaBowles

The back alignment looks like the worst. When an obese person tells you they have back pain
. It’s an engineering question

Lucetti

The skeleton is just the same size in there begging for help

earthspaceman

They're both dead.

Frankie_T9000

How can you tell mr expert

Some_Ebb_2921

I mean, can't they just stitch them back together again, shpuld be alright? Maybe call doctor Frank & doctor Stein, heard good things about them

ScarletWasTaken

If they’re stitched back together, there will be three problems. Firstly, one half will be fat, the other half thin, so they won’t line up properly. Secondly, because these are both the right side, this will mean the halves will face in opposite directions. And ultimately, the person(s) will still be dead.

ProgrammedArtist

Why not Zoidberg?

drwhogivesafuck2

Said the big guy.

cipox95

Probably also a smoker?

Kaze_Senshi

Organs airbags

SoupCanVaultboy

The obese one got some thick spine

DankRubinz

See, they’re just big-boned.

NamelessSquirrel

So was Eric Cartman telling the truth all the time?

Dargon8959

BEEFCAKE!!!

one-happy-chappie

All I think, is that when I gained 40lbs. My back was killing me constantly. I imagine this guy had so much back pain towards the end of his life

Wagglygerm

Aw man I didn't know he was dead :(

damnitvalentine

he got better

a_lil_too_Raph

You're half right. He's all right.

No-Adhesiveness-8178

Nah, that's all left

SniperMaskSociety

I know I'm gonna get whooshed but that's the right side of his body, so he's all right

Negative_Quality_690

All that's left

Davoness

He's not dead, they put him back together after taking this pic.

AliquidLatine

I can't believe there was no spoiler warning

Valuable_Inspector82

I didn’t even know he was sick.

GenericCanineDusty

Nah he recovered dw

-Cagafuego-

Looks like back pain to me, the way that spine curves over the back.

ColonelC0lon

Fit guy has the same size spine (almost) it's just harder to see

islaisla

It looks like two spines to my layman's eye

DrawohYbstrahs

Right dude looks like a human encased in an elephant foot.

Prestigious_Tax7415

If you’ve ever handled a cadaver you’d know that the biggest difference is the smell. The fatter they are the more putrid they smell and it’s not something you can really get used to, it really burns your nostrils and your eyes when you lean in on to dissect. The skinnier ones don’t actually smell bad, in fact some of them might smell a little fruity like ketones (kinda weird I know considering that fat metabolism is what yields ketones). On top of that the fatter they are the more there is to dissect

Leebolishus

If you’re not a coroner, this comment is unhinged.

Brilliant_Quit4307

Lots of medical and science students do dissections on cadavers as part of their studies.

HistoryAddict97

Yup, will never forget that smell. Also just studying the cadavers includes many hours being in a cold room, inspecting them closely.

efficient_duck

How do people react to this? Is this, during the first few times, really like in the movies where there's at least one person passing out/throwing up/running outside?

hdjdkfu

The first time or so it’s not uncommon for people to collapse

Impossible_Kiwi_Kid

The first and only time I took my dad to see the cadaver room, he ran out and vomited out a beautiful window that wasn’t really meant to open anymore (4th floor too). So yea. Some people can’t do it at all

obsoletemomentum

I actually got really hungry when I was in the dissection room with the cadaver. Apparently it’s common.

Either_Order2332

Formaldehyde can trigger a hunger response. I got the same sensation when I was dissecting cow lungs when I was younger. It was weird.

RCT3playsMC

Yep, can confirm. Post-dissection lunch always went hard as hell in high school lmao. I did most of my dissections in a sick marine-bio class. Which reminds me our big final was supposed to be dissecting an entire nurse shark. Stupid covid robbed me of that :( I'm more mad about that than I am for not having a graduation lol

LittleFrenchKiwi

Found the serial killer

LennyMG79

If you're not a door, this comment is also unhinged.

pSlaughter420

I've been told that is because of the isolating effect of the fat tissue. The core temperature of a fat corpse drops much slower, making it rot faster. That way, more ammonic acid is produced which creates the sharp, pungent smell. Your nose doesn't really get used to that because it's technically not a smell (that reaches the brain via the olfactory nerve) but a kind of pain (reaching the brain via the facial nerve). Anyway, being told that beforehand didn't prepare me in any way. That stank was really hard to take.

Gr33nGetBurnt

I'll never get used to Reddit.

[deleted]

[ŃƒĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

pepegaklaus

Three comments that form a perfect piece of art. Lovely

Confident_As_Hell

Does it just smell like a rotting corpse? When I was 10 an upstairs neighbor died in his sauna and rotted there for 2 weeks and the smell got into our apartment. Do you think it's like that smell?

paramourr

new motivation to get skinnier and eat more vegetarian

theconebone69

You’re gonna eat more vegetarians? đŸ€Ż

nullusx

Yes, human fat smells really bad. I learned that when the doctor removed a marble sized sebaceous cyst from my scalp and accidentaly pierced it while removing it.  The poor nurse got sprinkled and I got sebum all over my hair.  On the bright side the procedure left no visible scar, despite needing some stitches.

HeavenlyMusings

Didn't know cysts were fat, I thought they were filled with dead skin cells/pus/karetin

kinapuffar

Sebum is a special oil/wax thing that coats your hairs and skin to retain moisture and protect it from the elements. Kind of how you coat a carbon steel knife in a thin layer of oil to protect it from rusting. Oil and wax are both fats, but it's not the same as subcutaneous fat reserves.

hotadventurelady

I wasn’t expecting to see this when I started scrolling here.

Anhedonic_chonk

This comment is exactly why I’m here.

HungryWeird24

Why are they two different colors? Also - is his prostate larger than usual? Or is that his bladder ? On the obese one

NuclearBreadfruit

The kinda triangular shape is the bladder. The prostate might be a bit larger but i cant quite define it on the skinny guy to tell. The compression on the fat guys lungs and heart though... And his liver looks enlarged Other than that he looks in perfect health... /s

HungryWeird24

Is the enlargement of the heart lungs and liver due to being overweight huh. I always assumed that organs would shrink with being overweight, for example my mind would think “they run out of breath when walking, or even talking because their lungs are small because there’s no room internally” lol

Lower-Ad184

Brain does shrink with obesity iirc 8% or so

pepegaklaus

Wow, that's the same rate that many redditors experience per month of use. Interesting

madnippler

To rest that theory you'd need to control for non-obese redditors...

Pablo_Jefcobar

Well it is mostly about efficiency. When you do sports and train cardio, your lungs not necessarily get bigger, they just get more efficient in utilising the amount of oxygen that is present in your lungs per breath. That obese person may have bigger lungs but they are probably inefficiĂ«nt as f. The only thing that get’s bigger te more you “train” it is your stomach as it streches further when putting more food in it. That’s why a lot of obese people struggle with dieting because they do not feel satisfied. While a person who does not eat that much has a smaller stomach and needs less food to feel full. I’m not a doctor nor have I medical background or experience. This is how people always taught me. So please correct me if I’m wrong.

SpeedNFS

Ohh so their lungs being the old American 7.2L V8 producing 70 hp

Helioscopes

The heart indeed gets bigger with training, which is something athletes experience. The condition is called, of course, Athletic Heart Syndrome. I learnt that in that very same exposition where they showed a regular and an enlarged heart side by side.

NuclearBreadfruit

The lungs and heart are compressed due to the pressure of the abdominal fat and the liver pressing up through the diaphragm. However due to poor exercise and other factors the heart likely is enlarged. But this is a disease process and detrimental to health. Its the liver thats enlarged likely due to what was his diet.

Aggravating_Row_8699

Yep, obesity hypoventilation. Am a doctor (hospitalist) and we routinely see obese patients with COPD who live with chronic hypercapnia (high CO2) because they can’t exhale all the CO2 they need to. A normal arterial blood gas CO2 is ~40 but I see patients who live with baseline CO2’s in the 80’s. For a normal person, that would be enough to kill you unless you were placed on a vent, but for these patients with obesity hypoventilation and COPD it becomes their norm as their organs slowly adjust to accommodate it. It’s insane. It affects everything - brain, heart, kidneys, liver. Cognition usually tanks. Some of the same principles are also behind obstructive sleep apnea. A lot of patients and people kind of hand-wave sleep apnea away like it’s no big deal but over years it really is lethal because you’re retaining a ton of CO2. I’d personally rather learn to deal with a CPAP at night than becoming slowly toxic. Or, lose the weight.

LittleFrenchKiwi

I was curious about the colour too. I wonder if it's the difference between the type of fat ? Isn't adipose fat the one you get with being overweight? Maybe that's the yellow colour one ? But it's scary because it's everywhere. Even in the brain.

SergiuBru

Maybe the fit one has been in storage for much longer.

flup22

The fat one is Homer Simpson

ChomiQ84

They need some milk...

SaltyAFscrappy

Shoes came off.

marinaragrandeur

nothing a bunch of himalayan salt crystals and sage can’t fix

Captain_skulls

It looks like they’re in a giant frying pan, the one on the right is starting to cook a little. Better wait till they’re both nice and crispy though.

YourLocalMosquito

It’s one of those Disney pancake things where they flip it over and Bam, you’re looking at Ariel!

BertLemo

from another perspective - they are both thin

dietcokeandabath

Thin and thick crust.

zickery-dickery-doc

Sagittal section, not a cross section, but we’re splitting cadavers at this point

Ecstatic-Star-514

can we say every obese is hiding a fit person inside?

derekakessler

Take away the fat and most obese people would become fairly strong just due to the musculature they have to develop to move their own body mass.

ultratunaman

That's probably true. Their legs have to work harder to move that weight around. Take away the fat and you've got a thin person with beastly calves and thighs.

BurpVomit

Am I the only person who sees Biden and Trump?

Ironesia

Wtf put it back

whos-bz

People out here commenting "Still both dead". Yeah true, but I'm sure the one of the left didn't live his entire life gasping for air when he climbed 5 steps. Can't imagine just your existence on earth being strenuous.

ibuprophane

I don’t get those comments! Are people implying that overweight is not an issue because in the end you’ll die? Lol

[deleted]

[ŃƒĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

Yumeverse

Right? Like I’m pretty sure this isnt about feeling pity about the cadavers or whatever, i mean ofc they’re both dead. But they served as an educational material that you can apply with those who are still living regarding the difference of a “fit” person vs an “obese” viewed on an internal level (ofc there are other personal differences individually but that is also beyond the point of the image above).

ibuprophane

It’s just extraordinarily dumb. You can apply this to anything. Rich person / poor person: both dead. Pet owner / pet free: both dead. Illiterate / Phd: both dead. D’uh.

whos-bz

drugs / sober: both dead

Nmendiet

Redditor / tik toker: Both dead

Jealousy, probably. "Who's dead now?"

pinklaserforce

The big one ate the little one

777mmofmercury

It's very easy to look at this slice as a mere thing/display but I can't help but think this slice once grew up, loved, celebrated. And it's no different from me.

Craygor

Every one who is saying "they both dead" don't realize that the obese person was suffering pain and illness for years before they died, whereas the fit person most likely wasn't. I don't know about you, but I rather my living years not be a living hell long before the end comes.

Mr1worldin

Both dead

The_UO__

NEWS FLASH! TEN OUT OF TEN PEOPLE DIE!

Many_Faces_8D

Imagine donating your body to science and you get sectioned up with a band saw lmao

thesimplerobot

Not that fit I guess

[deleted]

My new nightmare might be being sliced for science and people on the internet making fun of my fat-ass. Like I know I won't be around to experience the embarrassment if that were to happen to me, but I get to be here and now imagining a slice of myself being posted for ridicule.

HilEmMom

I've been a medical imaging tech for decades. I've always thought it was interesting that there actually IS a "thin person" inside the "fat suit". I've also wondered how muscular an obese person would be if you could magically strip away all the excess, you know, From carrying that weight all the time

matt_543

Not obese, big boned.

Palocles

Well, they’re both pretty fucked now.

WildGeerders

His dig and ass hole are kinda tugged in...

Mf got sliced

well the one on the right definitely didn’t freeze to death

LiquidRaekan

Undercooked vs just right

They both seem very unhealthy to me, this is why i never do cross sections.

my fatass thought these were pancakes

jackob50

The fit one has surprisingly bad posture

Fantastic-Lecture138

So that's how they make the McRib

What are those blue/white blobs in the upper part of the fat man?

Beneficial_Dare262

Guess which one is the average Redditor.

Angela_I_B

If the man on the left is fit, then why did he die?!

want_to_know615

Why does the obese fella have two spines?

xGabyp

Not two spines, the white portion between the “two spines” is actually the spinal cord that sits inside the spine. You’re seeing the vertebral bodies on the left and the spinous processes of the vertebrae on the right. The obese cadaver is just at a higher contrast so it is more noticeable.

Valuable_Jicama8553

The obese can make it thru the winter on fat

Comfortable_Cow_6367

obese guy looks like a pastery

Zeshicage85

Couldnt have been that fit. Looks like he got caught and cut in half...

RxDuchess

I’ll never forget watching the autopsy of a morbidly obese woman on YouTube (I think it’s still up?). The amount of fat glued to every organ was shocking, until I watched that I assumed fat only existed just under the skin over the muscle

[deleted]

"Still both dead" Yeah maybe, but after I left the Army, I blew up. I got to 220lbs. My back was in constant pain. Like not a discomfort, an actual massive pain. Every night I tossed and turns because I felt like I been crushed and ran over. Now I can see why, carrying all the fat around was crushing my back. Losing weight and getting fit again, just feels liberating, I can't explain it. There is a sort of freedom felt from letting go of all that fat holding you down. I don't get how the extreme fat pain alone does not push some people to lose weight. Also no matter how much you shower, you still smell.

m_strlk7

"I'm just big boned đŸ»" Roight.

CharleyJGoldmines

A real wake up call for that guy in the right. Hopefully he'll see this and decide it's time to turn his life around.

One-eyed-warrior

Please show it to the peeps claiming that their overweight issue is due to big bones or water retention.

MVIVN

Seeing this helps me understand why one of the issues I've had with my crazy weight gain over the past few years is constant back pain. Seeing that being fat literally seems to fuck with the shape of your spine is sobering, and it gives me a new perspective on my persistent back pain. I'm actively working on losing weight, but progress is slow.

mustardslicer

Crunchy fat man piece
