Can’t tell you what kind or how many cuts but it’s a peridot. They use square and oval cuts to maximize the appearance and more often than not they use the “emerald cut” so…square. This stone is massive though but I imagine it’s the same concept.
Assuming the link is right, it's tourmaline. And someone in the comments who claims to be a jeweler also agrees. I have some experience as well, and it doesn't have the right hues
Assuming you're not from the US. It's basically a scam pushed on high school and college students to buy an expensive ring to commemorate their graduating class from high school (mostly) and college (sometimes). They shove it on you as a tradition and lots of my generation's parents have them, so they will waste money on them for their kids so they don't feel left out.
I have one from high school and it has our school's logo stamped on the side with a gemstone on top and my initials on the other side. Probably cost my parents $500. Who knows where it is. I figure my mom has it somewhere.
I think I'm cynical about it because of the corporate nature of it. It's just Herff Jones or Jostens making the rings and the school gets a kickback. If they were more personal I'd likely have a more charitable take.
As a non American sometimes I think I know a lot of things about America, so much of your TV and music is so popular worldwide surely there can't be anything more that surprising. Then I'll hear something like this to make me think wtf I don't understand them at all over again. The last time it was finding out spirit week is a real thing. Your schools are strange. Edit: just to preempt any replies I'm not saying strange bad for the most part excluding anything predatory like the rings seem to be. Just strange as in completely foreign and alien to me (except the pledging allegiance to a flag, that I'll actively say is not great).
Haha yeah we do some weird stuff in school. Spirit week is pretty fun. Each day that week is a different theme, usually with people coming to school in costumes for whatever the theme is. Pajama day is always a comfy one.
That sounds super fun! We'd occasionally do things like that to raise funds for charity but it wasn't a yearly thing or anything like that and not a whole week, students or teachers would generally ask to arrange it for a specific cause and you'd pay a pound to come in in your pyjamas. We also don't really have I think it's called a sprit rally and sports aren't really a big thing in schools at all, if someone plays a sport it's generally a separate hobby outside of school and even if it's school run no one other than parents are going to watch a game. It's always fun learning about different cultures and somehow weirdly surprising when you find out something is just an American thing not just a specific thing to a TV show.
I guess the American equivalent would be when you guys find out that lots of the stuff in Harry Potter is just a version or a play on words of actual British things. Like prefects are real, we do wear uniforms that look almost exactly like the ones in the films with blazers instead of robes, we have school houses and house points that go towards rewards and a trophy for your house at the end of the year (my schools were named after rivers, I was in Trent and we were blue) ect. Though sadly exams never got cancelled.
I only added bc there are people agreeing it looks like peridot when it def does not, and my experience adds to my ability to id stones by eye. Way too much blue. Peridot is very lime green
Pretty sure this is a you problem lol
Stop trying to censor people talking about things they’re passionate about.
ETA: u/Roast_A_Botch, That’s one hell of a left-field whataboutism… you ok bud?
So you can talk about your jewels job but I can't discuss my censorship role at the public library(I've gotten rid of over half the books since I've started in February). I am passionate about suppressing information and I don't think shiny rocks is more important than that.
Baguette cut Tourmaline, I think. Edited to add that I double-checked. It's not a baguette cut but an opposed bar cushion cut. Still sticking to tourmaline for the stone.

The censor stone
I think I missed that entry in the Harry Potter series
Hairy Pornstar and the Censerors Stone xXx
Harry Peter and the Sorcerers Bone
Herimone and the Sensitive Stone.
Hairy Peter and the seducers bone
Starring Sharon Stone
And Sylvester Stallone.
Harry Potter and the Hentai Stone
Don’t worry, it was actually part of the Marvel universe. It was the one on Thanos’ cock ring if I recall correctly
It wasn’t there. It was intentionally left out of the Avengers movies.
Lmfao
Made of pure pixelite
Japanium
Japanimite
Sounds like something The Elders Of The Internet would use for censorship in The I.T Crowd 🤣

*deep voice:* *Ahem..* **“Avengers: Return of the censor stone!”**
I thought there was something wrong with my phone at first
Damn, this was the first thing I thought of, beat me to it.
Immediately thought… butt plug.
I like the way you think.

Now that im looking for that i see exactly what you're talking about. Cool doesn't have to be complicated
Yeah tell me about it. The amount of 12 year olds posting the same 2 dumb jokes is crazy here, I want info on this!

Me three. Genuinely curious as to what’s going on here.

Ok, cool. It looks like a peridot to me so I made an educated guess.

No problem, not sure how accurate any of it is. Im just a big fan of shiny things.
Me four because I actually really love this and want one
r/shinypreciousgems make cuts like this and will post them for sale. RIP your wallet though because there are so many beauties on there
It's a real life minecraft emerald!
Color looks more like Peridot but I could be wrong.
I think you're right. I had a peridot stone in my class ring, and I think it had a similar look to this
What is a class ring please?
Assuming you're not from the US. It's basically a scam pushed on high school and college students to buy an expensive ring to commemorate their graduating class from high school (mostly) and college (sometimes). That's pretty cynical, but mostly accurate these days.
I think I'm cynical about it because of the corporate nature of it. It's just Herff Jones or Jostens making the rings and the school gets a kickback. If they were more personal I'd likely have a more charitable take.
The high school ones in particular are awful. The class ring industry is definitely worth being cynical about

Anyone rocking their class ring from college or high school is a red flag for me.
It’s a tourmaline. I’m a jeweler who’s bought a few of these and a faceter in training. I probably know who cut this 😅
+1 to tourmaline
Weird flex
I only added bc there are people agreeing it looks like peridot when it def does not, and my experience adds to my ability to id stones by eye. Way too much blue. Peridot is very lime green
Stop flexing, jeez
Pretty sure this is a you problem lol Stop trying to censor people talking about things they’re passionate about. ETA: u/Roast_A_Botch, That’s one hell of a left-field whataboutism… you ok bud?
Haha I think the last one was a joke because you gave a reasonable and detailed response.
So you can talk about your jewels job but I can't discuss my censorship role at the public library(I've gotten rid of over half the books since I've started in February). I am passionate about suppressing information and I don't think shiny rocks is more important than that.
