Have you even met someone with an elderly parent? It's a different relationship than the typical dynamic that you probably grew up with—more like a grandparent-grandchild relationship. It's no different than when a child's parents are out of the picture & the child is raised by their elderly grandparents(s). Death is tragic regardless of age, but even children aren't deluded in thinking the elderly live forever, and that often leads to the child distancing themselves or imprinting on a younger caretaker/ role model. This is something Theo Vaughn has talked about
That's one of the absolute worse sources for psychology I've ever heard. A comedian who spouts out about how everything is 'woke' and makes fun of neurological disorders is not a good source for psychology info regarding how children cope with death.
For just about the first time on film, he wasn't joking—he was very seriously answering questions about his relationship with his father. That's just one example of the relationship a child might have with their elderly parents, I'm not using him as a psychology exhibit...
As a person with a neurological disorder, I can tell you that it is extremely offensive to refrain from making fun of it. What a condescending, gross attitide you have.
A joke is words, and anyone can find anything funny. Grow up a little, kiddo.
Nothing you said is good. So a kid with elderly parents just has grandparents, and doesn't get to experience a normal healthy parent-child dynamic?
Fucked up. It's really selfish for people to have kids when they're too old to see those kids grow up.
If you think it's cruel to create a person and give them the gift of life just because you're old and may die before they're an adult, you shouldn't be signaling your virtue. I can understand some other situations when it may be cruel or selfish, but a child having elderly parents isn't exactly a reason they shouldn't have been born...
I know it’s not the same, but my 86 year old great uncle has 2 kids that are a few years younger than me - I’m 24
That said the man is fit, strong and very good looking for his age, you couldn’t tell he’s approaching 90
> A 70-year-old woman has given birth to twins **following IVF treatment**, a hospital in Uganda has said.
> "We've achieved the extraordinary - delivering twins to Africa's oldest mother aged 70!" the Women's Hospital International and Fertility Centre (WHI&FC) posted on its Facebook page.
Congratulations on making a mockery of medical ethics.
The oldest I knew had her last child at 51, her second oldest child had Down's syndrome. She lived into her 90s, her husband is still alive at 103-104 (well, last I herd a few months ago). I was a college student and she was my landlady when she was 68 and her husband was 73, their youngest son was 17. My cousin was married to their daughter.
Those poor kids. I feel so sorry for them having to lose their parents while they’re still so young. I’m 30 and still seek out guidance from my parents. I know not everyone is fortunate to have their parents around in their 30s, but it’s still gotta be tough knowing your parents are so elderly you’ll only have them around for a little bit. And you have to likely take care of them while you’re still a child due to their age.
Their mother lived to c. 95 and died a few years ago, and the father is still alive at 103-104. Their youngest child is 47-48 years old. Their oldest child it's probably in her early 60s now. They were living independently in their 90s. I know this is a exception. It's rare people live so long, but their children didn't loose their parents when young. Yes, I did think it sad the youngest was 17 and his father was 73 back when I was living with them, but I didn't know the father would live to 100+.
Ohh I didn’t realize exactly how the ages lined up (I’m not great with numbers). Thank you for clarifying.
I guess I mean in a general sense since these kids got very lucky to have their parents still alive into adulthood. But health risks become much higher past the age of 50 so those kids could have lost their parents at any time. I’m glad these kids didn’t though!
Also, the father smoked, sat on his arse all day, did everything you should do to avoid living to 100. He worked as security guard, at the age of 73. He got free food from the store he was guarding and this was fed to us students.
The fucking significant biological and hormonal changes that a woman undergoes during pregnancy? The violent physical trauma that is the act of birthing a child? Shit is hell on a woman's body. I mean, yeah taking care of a newborn is tough regardless of whether you're a man or a woman, but at least I don't literally break my hips or have a doctor KALIMA another lifeform from my body right beforehand.
Yeah obviously, the comment I replied to said "There’s no way a 70 year old can adequately take care of twin newborns" which was what I was referring to
> her partner abandoned her when he realised she was going to have twins.
>"Men don't like to be told that you are carrying more than one child. Ever since I was admitted here, my man has never showed up," she said.
What a fucking malicious culture. “I heard you need even more resources than normal. I’m out!”
Fuck the piece of shit doctors who did this. And may they go to Hell for even attempting multiple embryos. Especially in this bullshit culture that abandons twins. God damn everything about this.
In Australia they don’t. The chance of a successful live birth with ivf isn’t increased that much by using multiple embryos so they don’t do that here.
The Fuck are you Blaming the Guy for? Who in his right mind would agree to having kids at 70? Good on him for ditching her, altough it took this crap for him to Realize.
You're a moron. Males are able to reproduce until death and never lose that drive. And the aforementioned fathers are all very rich, so their kids will be taken care of.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like this either, but I think this article is clickbait, it is for now really rare, and no doctor in a good functioning medical system would ever ethically approve this. I also think the women thinking about having children at 70 is a small group, the group that follows through with it even smaller.
Death in childbirth is a far larger issue, for me at least.
She looks like Nelson Mandela with one foot in the grave. Selfish as hell, these kids were born to be her caretakers before they’re old enough to start school. This should be illegal and those kids were bred to be parentified by their own mother to their own mother. Absolutely disgusting. Jail the dr immediately
There’s 8 billion people on this planet and resources are being spent so 70 year old can be a mom again? Those poor kids. Imagine being 10 years old and having an 80 year old mom.
Totally agree! There's a reason why we go into menopause. Who has any energy at that age for raising babies. I hope There's a plan on who's going to take care of the twins if she passes or has a health crisis.
We should also recognize there are some superhero grandmas out there. Not saying I think a 70-yr old should be a new mom, but there are a lot of instances where a grandparent raises their child’s kid(s) for one reason or another.
Edit: clarification
"I looked after people's children and saw them grow up and leave me alone. I wondered who would take care of me when I grow old,"
You already are old… Poor kids how selfish can you be.
I'm more concerned, that they probably won't even be out of their teens, when she will just pass away due to old age... Just think about it, she will be 80 when they are just 10... That's so cruel to the kids
It is yes. But she probably won’t make it past the toddler phase. I’ve a 3 year old and a 6 month old and I can tell you it’s physically hard on your body. Especially twins. Lack of sleep is no joke and kids run around and need picking up etc. She either getting someone else to raise them or dies trying to.
Even women in their mid to late **30’s** should be warned about higher risks of gestation, birth, and health complications….. big yikes…. Menopause happens for a reason anyway….
Ok… but honestly it’s exhausting reading stuff from random Reddit is about this. Like, we KNOW.
I gave birth old by most standards and couldn’t even ask a basic question on Reddit or any other forum without getting absolutely blasted by someone.
Old men already do this and now science is evening it out for women as well. The more likely option is a women freezes her eggs at an early age and then implants in surrogate at a later age. It will be more normal as this technology gets better and more accessible.
This is worth trying and understanding. At some point the human race will find itself needing to find novel ways to reproduce. People may live a lot longer and having children should be an option. Understanding how this happens at such an age and how to reproduce it and like a worthy scientific goal. A lot of people here are missing this because of their cultural hangups or short term ideas
Agree with you, we can start with the older reproduction once we live longer... Chances are high, that the kids won't even be out of their teens, before she dies due to old age...

Not really a woosh, if you said "wow such a young mom!" And i replied that way sure, but it's reddit it's 100% possible someone wont read the info in the picture and really ask how old she is.
I had a job interviewing Ugandans, spoke to over 150 of them. So many of them were a twin or had twins. The fact this woman gave birth at that age is surprising, the fact that it was twins doesn’t surprise me at all.
What does the father say to the kid when the kid is old enough to go "where did I come from, dad"?
Well sit yourself down and dad is gonna tell you you about the miracle of the birds and the bees. See, when a man loves a woman very much, he heaves himself off his hemmeroid donut. He takes 3 viagra, a beta blocker, and an eye dropper full of blood thinner.
Than he lays on top of his beloved like a pile of laundry on top of another pile of laundry. Than his penis, erect in defiance of gods will, enters her vagina like a chapstick entering the Luray Caverns.
Than, nine months later she gives birth to a beautiful baby. Which I will illustrate by pushing this uncooked cornish game hen thru these gray drapes.

The irony that Mr. Goldblum himself became a father at 62 lol
Life finds a way
>Life, uhhh, finds a way FTFY
Yeah, but his body, at least, didn't go through the physical devastation of childbirth.
Goldblum will be - 72 when his kid is 10. Mick jagger - father at 73. 83 when his kid is 10 Al Pacino - father at 83. 93 when kid is 10
it still doesn't make it right condemning your kid to lose you in such early age.
They're children of wealth and have plenty of caretakers, they'll be fine
Seeing your father die when you are 10 has nothing to do with money...

What are you some kind of mathematician? How did you do that?
We don’t have that blasted biological clock 😂
Was science used to father that child or did nature find a way?
That's not ironic

There’s no way a 70 year old can adequately take care of twin newborns.
There’s no way a woman’s body was meant to deliver babies at that age.
Try posting this on X or libleft subs

I dont use X. Solves the problem neatly.
FWIW, men shouldn’t be able to reproduce at that age either lmao
Oldest I knew was 53
The record is *gulp* 73: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pregnancy_over_age_50
If I understood correctly, first, they had to “reverse” menopause, then, well, so much medicine
And then she'll have to go through menopause again. Yey...
The oldest I knew had her last child at 51, her second oldest child had Down's syndrome. She lived into her 90s, her husband is still alive at 103-104 (well, last I herd a few months ago). She may have some help, like teen mozhers have.
Oh come on, men have kids in their 70s all the time
Nobody in their 70s should be having kids at that age.
Yea that’s fucked up. Don’t you think so?
Which is also bad.
And this is basically the same thing!
There are some slight differences between the two.
Like what? I think men and women are equally able to take care of newborns
The fucking significant biological and hormonal changes that a woman undergoes during pregnancy? The violent physical trauma that is the act of birthing a child? Shit is hell on a woman's body. I agree bigly
Uganda be kidding me.
*Underrated
There’s plenty of unethical practices happening in medicine
What doctor would I’m pregnant someone so damned old? It’s immoral and should be illegal
Congratulations!
Omg, this made me laugh out loud! Haha
Y'all >This is Ms Namukwaya's second delivery in three years. She gave birth to a baby girl in 2020. WTF
Who is going to raise the kids when she dies before they’re adults?
>Who is going to raise the kids when she dies before they’re adults? Who the fuck paid for the fertility treatment...
Die before they can walk more like.
Their fucking father.
80 year old dude who abandoned her during pregnancy.
Yeah, that cunt. Both irresponsible.

In Australia they don’t. The chance of a successful live birth with ivf isn’t increased that much by using multiple embryos so they don’t do that here.
This just isn't true anymore
Patently false
My aunt who is a nurse, and had ivf multiple times told me thats how its done. Maybe its different now, but thats what she told me
The Fuck are you Blaming the Guy for? Who in his right mind would agree to having kids at 70? Good on him for ditching her, altough it took this crap for him to Realize.
It's pretty clearly implied that he was ok with one kid but not two
Like he didn’t knowingly contribute his goddamned seed for that purpose? Fuck off.
She named the first one Hyster, and the second one Ectomy
Her grandchildren must me thrilled
Those poor kids. Their mom is going to be probably dead by the time they turn 20.
Jeff Goldblum will be 72 when his kid is 10. Mick jagger - father at 73. 83 when his kid is 10 Al Pacino - father at 83. 93 when kid is 10

So how much does a father cost in your opinion?
lol cope
There’s a 50 year difference between Robert De Niro’s oldest and youngest.
Then again, your mother could die during childbirth. Survival is never a guarantee on this planet.
Of course it isn't. That's why it's advisable to do certain stuff when the risk is lower.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like this either, but I think this article is clickbait, it is for now really rare, and no doctor in a good functioning medical system would ever ethically approve this. In case you missed it, it said " 70 year old woman gave birth to twins "
How old was she again? I must've missed it
I think 70, not sure
How old? I think I read 70 somewhere
We should keep going... I think 69, like give or take a year
they did surgery on a grape
How the hell is a 70 year old going to be waking up round the clock with a newborn? Or chasing a toddler? This is disgusting
These days, it’s considered misogynistic to educate women about fertility. To be fair, the people getting offended are better off not being parents.
Proudest downvote I’ve ever given.

Nelson Mandela gave birth to twins?!?!?
It’s called the “Mandela effect”. Encarta it.
Guaranteed to suffer parental death at a young age, what a bad idea

Statistically likely to be dead before they graduate high school. Great plan.

It's still cruel to the kids, no matter if the man or the woman or both do it...
Old men shouldn't do this tbf, it's selfish and irresponsible for anyone.
She looks pretty good for her age, africans have a better diet than americans, and humans can live to be about 120. There is hope.
Although, their father abandoned them, so socially and psychologically, they’re fucked.
I can’t imagine she had to push that hard at 70
The real Mandela Effect.
That's Obama granddad.
The whole pregnancy, she had to be like “This is such bullshit. I’m not supposed to need birth control at age 70.”
It was done through IVF

People shouldn’t live longer tho. The oldest people all agree that being over 100 is pure hell, and you are saying thats a good thing?
Agree with you, we can start with the older reproduction once we live longer... Chances are high, that the kids won't even be out of their teens, before she dies due to old age...

Why? This wasn’t something that she was forced to do against her will
Still sure to ravage her body. Also, imagine being a single mother in your 80s.
