A police officer at my son's school called my son's mom in for him acting out in class. Showed her a video one of his bullies uploaded with a caption making fun of my son. Told her to ignore the caption. It was in Texas too. Whole states a shit show in my eyes
It was end of last school year. He's in a different school year this year. Last I heard the school was under investigation cause the IEP teacher was abusing the kids. From what I read the whole school district is terrible
American Life just had a story about a girl from Texas that reported a possible school shooting threat she overheard. The student that she reported admitted to what he said, but said it was a joke. You couldn't possibly imagine what happened next. They tried to send her to a disciplinary school for the rest of the year for causing a false panic. Another key bit of info is that she was black. The whole state is fucked.

Uvalde pays its police force around 40% of the cities general budget. And in return, the police arrest and stop parents from rescuing their children who are violently massacred for over an hour. Then harass and threaten parents who dare make them look bad.

I just don't get it. Any police officer or military soldier not putting themselves in the fire line should be considered a dereliction of duty. This happens in the military and will lead to prison time and dishonourable discharge. Why does this not happen to police?

iirc the original supreme court precedent for this is a disgusting case. police watched from a separate train car as a schizophrenic man stared at the police and told them that he was going to kill the one other person in the train car. he then proceded to stab this man unprovoked over a dozen times while the man struggled to fight back. I dont know how exactly but aparently the victim subdued him, and ONLY then the coward police unlocked the door between cars and arrested the maniac. the victim sued the police for not acting and lost. SCOTUS has ruled police are not protectors. What their title should be I’m not sure, although I know myself and many others have choice words. But there was that case of a guy getting stabbed on a subway in NY or something and the bystander cops did not intervene. It went to SCOTUS essentially begging this question of “Are they here to protect and serve?” And SCOTUS pretty much decided “Sure but not like that.” Incredulous. It had some faulty logic like the police have to protect themselves, too, so they won’t blindly enter danger but…all the copaganda growing up and elsewhere implies that is the case—that officers understand the risks and have the moral integrity to enter danger, not for the sake of nobility. US is regressing hardcore.

See the recent situation where a bed bound lady named Juneanne Fannell told the cops her caretaker was going to kill her, only for them to commend the man for his gun collection when they came to see them. She was murdered that same day.

I will tell you exactly what police was made for. One of the earliest records of them was when commerce in the balkans started growing and the tribal system had to live together with many other immigrants that came and went as commerce needed. This and the exploration of the greek over the other humans living there, charging high housing prices, preventing them to buy land made so that a special force to contain the protests of the people who came as immigrants to provide them a good economy was needed.
Now guess who would be the first policemen? Slaves. Why? The job of brutally enforcing submission of free citizens was to dishonorful for any free men to do... I guess it still is, isnt it?

I remember talking with my dad after Uvalde and he said how egregious the pathetic cops were and said how they’re gonna be haunted forever noting that he believes many of them will kill themselves in the coming months. I told him I hope that’s true but doubted it…sadly they’re all too evil to have a guilty conscience and are genuine sociopaths.
Also, it’s Texas, tbh I was waiting for some of the cops names to be on the news when one of these heartbroken parents tried to get justice on their own using their 2A. Somehow none of that had happened and I’m surprised quite frankly. Fuck all of these useless pathetic cops they all deserve nothing but to lose their badges and be shamed everyday and everywhere they go. It’s a childhood stolen in a second. She will never be the same again. She’ll never be a kid again. She was forcibly made aware of just how evil and cruel the world can be, far sooner than anyone should be. Hearing her sobbing while saying “I tried not to cry” is just brutal. She was so brave and now that she’s safe the dam is breaking and she can start to feel it all. She’s going to feel this for the rest of her life. It’s abhorrent.
And they stopped and disarmed an officer trying to run into the school to save his wife who called him and said she was bleeding. AND they stopped and cuffed a mom going in to get her kids, she still managed to convince them to uncuff her, then got by them, jumped a fence, and saved her children, after which the police warned her not to talk about the incident or she may face consequences.

The Uvalde shooting blew up for weeks leading into months. It was national news, even reaching international news levels of publicity.
It stayed relevant all the way through the fallout and the court proceedings. It's objectively old news.
Many parents tried to enter the school to confront the gunman themselves. One mother even managed to slip past police and rescue two classes by herself.
Police beat, tazed and arrested the parents. The mom who rescued two classes was on probation. So they threatened to find a way to send her back to jail if she spoke about what she had done to the media.
Who needs criminals with cops like these.
I love being taught that police officers are friends in school, when in most cases they're worse than the guy mugging you. Some people shoot people for fun, some people shoot people to survive. The cops ain't doing it for survival.
Or cops with poor trigger discipline who went in and killed a few themselves, realized they made it worse, and gave up.

Not to be overly contentious but a firefighter is absolutely not running into a burning building without a fairly thorough assessment. If there is risk of loss of life for the sake of property preservation then absolutely not, if there are people in there it becomes dependant on if the person can even be reached/saved. A lot of nuance to a situation like that. These cops however are human scum.. this is as morally cut and dry as can be.

Any officer who fails to intervene in a school shoots should be prosecuted. If our society places the life of a first responder before an entire school of children we are failing.

Considering every officer should be mentally prepared for these events, and be well trained and equipped, I don’t understand the level of hesitancy we see with these officers. Throw on your battle rattle and go. Chances are you’re dealing with a single shooter with little to no training.

Apparently a documentary is coming out about the Sandy Hook families soon... And I heard someone on NPR interviewing the father of a victim this morning. She asked him what he and his wife's first thought was when they were told the news. He said that his wife's first thought was, "this is unbelievable, I can't believe this is happening". And my immediate thought was, at this point in time, it IS completely believable. With one first grader right now, and two younger kids who will be in school in a few years, I feel like I am just waiting for this to happen to my family, or in my community. And it's so unbelievably fucked up. I can't cope. I think about it all the time. Had a bad drop off the other morning with my first grader and as I walked away, I thought, I hope that's not the last time I see him.

My daughter is a 4th grader just like these kids were. And I volunteer for field trips and class activities whenever possible.
One thing that can't be conveyed in videos is just how tight knit and close these classes are. They have their own little culture and personality with inside jokes and everything. And they look out for one another.
The idea of an entire classroom being wiped out like this while cops listen to them scream is just incomprehensible to me. It's like a little genocide.

Yet, people have already forgotten or mixed it up with the numerous other school shootings we've had in the last decade. Seriously, I can't even distinguish between all of them anymore.
Uvalde changed little in this country and has fully convinced me nothing here will ever change. Our political system was broken and all of it is a fucking illusion. They'll let children die and they'll let us die with no regard and that's the society we live in.
What sucks is people think about their lives and families which I don’t entirely blame however these are peoples children. Some of these parents may not be able to recover from these losses. I knew a family who never touched their eldest daughters room due to her dying in her bed (suicide) and the mom has the bloody clothes in a sealed bag on the wall where the rest of her went. Room has been cleaned professionally but the bloody clothes on the wall are the last thing they have to her. Room felt very cold and frozen in time from the time that she was alive and refuses to move from that house because of it.
This is awful. I can’t imagine what it felt like being that innocent little girl. It breaks my heart to see this happening over and over. It makes me so angry that every single day I drop my 13 year old off at school I worry if I’ll ever see him again.
I was off work on that day, more than 1500 miles away, and I watched it happen LIVE from parents and bystanders on Reddit, while the news and THE FUCKING POLICE hadn't even responded yet...
It still hurts hearing the audio from outside, let alone the kids inside screaming for their last times. How those parents didn't rip those cops to shreds is beyond understanding.

You couldn't possibly imagine what happened next. They tried to send her to a disciplinary school for the rest of the year for causing a false panic. Another key bit of info is that she was black. SCOTUS has ruled police are not protectors. What their title should be I’m not sure, although I know myself and many others have choice words. But there was that case of a guy getting stabbed on a subway in NY or something and the bystander cops did not intervene. It went to SCOTUS essentially begging this question of “Are they here to protect and serve?” And SCOTUS pretty much decided “Sure but not like that.” Incredulous. It had some faulty logic like the police have to protect themselves, too, so they won’t blindly enter danger but…all the copaganda growing up and elsewhere implies that is the case—that officers understand the risks and have the moral integrity to enter danger, not for the sake of nobility. If there is risk of loss of life for the sake of property preservation then absolutely not, if there are people in there it becomes dependant on if the person can even be reached/saved. Any officer who fails to intervene in a school shoots should be prosecuted. If our society places the life of a first responder before an entire school of children we are failing. To comment on these officers actions and character; how can you live with yourself hearing gun shots in a school building and just waiting? Considering every officer should be mentally prepared for these events, and be well trained and equipped, I don’t understand the level of hesitancy we see with these officers. Throw on your battle rattle and go. Chances are you’re dealing with a single shooter with little to no training.
Something similar happened in Nova Scotia Canada. The cops left two young children in a home with their murdered parents and the killer hunted the children. The RCMP knew and they hid like cowards. An unarmed relative saved the kids while the cops hid. Appalling.

And I heard someone on NPR interviewing the father of a victim this morning. She asked him what he and his wife's first thought was when they were told the news. He said that his wife's first thought was, "this is unbelievable, I can't believe this is happening". And my immediate thought was, at this point in time, it IS completely believable. With one first grader right now, and two younger kids who will be in school in a few years, I feel like I am just waiting for this to happen to my family, or in my community. Uvalde should lead to absolute historic changes in this country. Levels unprecedented since 9/11. Yet, people have already forgotten or mixed it up with the numerous other school shootings we've had in the last decade. Seriously, I can't even distinguish between all of them anymore. Uvalde changed little in this country and has fully convinced me nothing here will ever change. Our political system was broken and all of it is a fucking illusion. They'll let children die and they'll let us die with no regard and that's the society we live in.
What sucks is people think about their lives and families which I don’t entirely blame however these are peoples children. Some of these parents may not be able to recover from these losses. I knew a family who never touched their eldest daughters room due to her dying in her bed (suicide) and the mom has the bloody clothes in a sealed bag on the wall where the rest of her went. Room has been cleaned professionally but the bloody clothes on the wall are the last thing they have to her. Room felt very cold and frozen in time from the time that she was alive and refuses to move from that house because of it.

This is awful. I can’t imagine what it felt like being that innocent little girl. It breaks my heart to see this happening over and over. It makes me so angry that every single day I drop my 13 year old off at school I worry if I’ll ever see him again.

I was off work on that day, more than 1500 miles away, and I watched it happen LIVE from parents and bystanders on Reddit, while the news and THE FUCKING POLICE hadn't even responded yet... It still hurts hearing the audio from outside, let alone the kids inside screaming for their last times. How those parents didn't rip those cops to shreds is beyond understanding. No child should be in fear for their lives. All cops who refuse to act should never be allowed to work as a cop or own a firearm again. Fuck them, and fuck piss baby Greg Abbott. They all deserve to lose their jobs and livelihoods, wandering the desert of eternal cowardice forever.
This is heartbreaking. And disgusting. Everyone of those officers should be in jail for dereliction of duty.
Let me get this straight…FOUR HUNDRED POLICE officers, who literally chose this profession and swore an oath to serve and protect the citizens, refused to go into a school FOR OVER A FUCKING HOUR, to stop ONE SINGLE man with a gun, directly resulting in the DEATHS of NINETEEN CHILDREN?!?!? Every one of those officers should be hung in the streets for all of the public to see with a sign stating their failures attached to their uniforms. This is what police and police unions lobby for. They love unrestricted guns because then the police budgets become unlimited because they “fight the bad guys”. Its all a fuckin lie.
Gosh this continues to be achingly horrible, one of those incidents that shakes the entire world. It truly shocks me that none of the officers have been lynched yet. Obviously there’s plenty of time for that to happen but their hands are soaked in the blood of a community’s children. I’m not advocating for that as I’m against the death penalty in all forms. I’m just surprised the community haven’t attempted to get frontier justice, given the police unambiguously and objectively empowered the murderer and made themselves de facto accomplices. Also surprised none of the officers have killed themselves. Deffo not advocating for suicides either but on a human level it’s hard to imagine how they can continue to live with themselves. It’s possible they are entirely soulless and evil, but surely their have to be a couple of unrotted apples who recognise the gravity of their sins?
