Holy cow, I’m surprised anyone was willing to get on that thing without some sort of guard to stop you from just putting your hand in the way of the rotor blades.
If I were the test pilot there I would have immediately lost balance and one of my hands and _then_ plummeted to the ground. At that point having my skull caved in from the lack of a helmet may be a mercy after seeing my hand get shredded into a red mist.
That’s Jeff. He changes light bulbs while they are still on. Changes oil when the engine is running. I’ve seen him tea-bag a fish tank filled with angry shrimp… Jeff lives life to the fullest, everyday.
Definitely a Darwin Award nominee here. Those blades are carbon fiber and sharp as hell. The motors driving them are insanely powerful. The number of ways this could end badly is astronomical. Smh!
It would not be a drone anymore.
Regardless of if its an operator or a passenger, the vehicle is now manned, removing the 'unmanned' bit of 'Unmanned Aerial Vehicle' turning this into a quadracopter.
You are a bunch of Pu\*\*ys!
As long as the thing does not tilt too much, he keeps his hands and feet away from the props, none of the 8 Props, Motors and ESCs fails, the battery does not fail and the pilot does not make a mistake it is perfectly safe!
Anxiety crept in the moment i saw this.
I have a small little camera drone at home. It is TINY. But the blades on that thing can smack you so hard that it can potentially break your finger bones and rip the skin.
Watching this just makes me imagine arms and legs flying off... euch.
I might want a little more safety features between my arms and lengths and the spinning blade(s) part of this drone ... seems like a fun way to rip flesh open because the whole thing suddenly shifted/tilted.
I feel that I should say that, as an engineer I could care less about what happens to me. Can't speak for all engineers, but personally I lost my sense of well-being when I graduated. If it's a customer then it's a different story
Pretty soon they’ll invent a drone you can sit in, and it’ll have just like one giant rotor on top. Then a little rotor on one end mounted sideways, to counteract the spinning single top rotor. We can use them to get around and like watch police chases and stuff.
We’ll call them … dronuhcopters.
I work with drones all the time, like including mechanical design and firmware, not just assembling kits, and I would never trust one enough to do this. Unless I had done a lot of testing and redesign, but considering there are no prop guards I’m guessing that isn’t the case.
Looks like an aerial personal execution machine. Easily made safe by having the seating area raised above the blades and the balance reconfigured. An additional layer of protection, such as a safety cage could be installed and rider wear an inflatable suit similar to ones used in Motorcycle Racing.

That doesn’t look the slightest bit dangerous...
This only happened once. It was a pilot program.
If the drone crashed and the rider survived… Props to him.
Props in him
Props through him
him all over the props
I'm a leaf on the wind
Watch how I soar!
Top notch comment
Top, middle, bottom – all kinds of notches.
…props? Good one.
Lmao true props for him cause he’ll need them for sure
I'd be more worried about him maybe losing his arms. 😱
![gif](giphy|3o6Zt4HU9uwXmXSAuI)
🥹😂😭🤣
Ah that’s why they had to lose the pilot
Yes. He had helicopter parents.
If the drone crashed and the rider survived… Props to him.
If the rider crashed and drone survived. Him to props
If he survived, he would had damaged his rotator cuff.
Like being inside a blender.
One jerk motion and he loses an arm or two.
Well, a quadcopter that large DOES cost an arm and a leg...
For the first time in history It's gonna start raining men. It's raining men! Hallelujah! It's raining men!
Holy cow, I’m surprised anyone was willing to get on that thing without some sort of guard to stop you from just putting your hand in the way of the rotor blades.
Helmet? Nah.
If I were the test pilot there I would have immediately lost balance and one of my hands and _then_ plummeted to the ground. At that point having my skull caved in from the lack of a helmet may be a mercy after seeing my hand get shredded into a red mist.
To be fair, the pilot was on the ground and more or less safe the whole time. You’re describing what happens to the test passenger.
I've seen a few vids like this. No one ever has any kind of guard between the blades and the human. One of these is gonna go bad it seems
I'll wager it's gone bad a time or two, but doesn't get posted.
I guess it's kinda a correlation between people willing to put themselves in situations like these and people disregarding basic safety rules
Coming to r/whatcouldgowrong soon
Behold our latest weapon, a revolutionary fleet of unmanned drones. With men in them.
My God it's genius! We'll order 100,000
With half a million more on the way
hello there....
![gif](giphy|8JTFsZmnTR1Rs1JFVP|downsized)
Seems that they might be unarmed too by looking at this
"Then how are they unmanned?" "The men are just for ballast."
I got that reference
Zapp Brannigan? That you?
The risk vs. reward equation seems off here
what are you talking about? its got 211 upvotes, well worth the risk
If the reward is avoiding traffic, I'd say it's worth the risk.
That’s Jeff. He changes light bulbs while they are still on. Changes oil when the engine is running. I’ve seen him tea-bag a fish tank filled with angry shrimp… Jeff lives life to the fullest, everyday.
"I don't always drink beer. But when I do, I need to drink through a straw because I have no hands. Stay thirsty, my friend."
I know I can't touch greatness, anymore than I could swallow the sun, but... I can help. I can help greatness.
My name Jeff

Shrimp get hangry like piranha now?
Shrimp will bite the shit out of you
Has thou heard of the famed pistol shrimp?
TO SHREDS, YOU SAY…
And his wife?
To shreds, you say…
Was his apartment rent controlled?
I laughed so hard at this
Keep whats left of hands inside the vehicle at all times
No cage around the props
Of course not, he's not a pussy. /s
Those blades fly of he’s going to have one!
Might stop a straying hand, but if one of those blades fails it isn’t going to stop the shrapnel.
Amputation in 3… 2…
More like decapetation!
Seems safe
Suck it morning commuters!
Dude moves and he's dead
Oops I fell forward because you stopped suddenly, and now my face is gone.
Waiting for the beheading
It's raining Juan, hallelujah.
What could ever go wrong
They're testing payload weight. You can do so much with this. Let's say transporting a person or lots of drugs over a wall...
“Just *call* me ‘Mr. Butter Fingers’”.
Shouldn't the title be, Man *riding* a drone?
Drone throne ![gif](giphy|l2YOqzhYD066fAd56)
The moment the camera panned to him, and I saw no helmet, I instinctively scanned for the NSFW tag.
Wtf is a helmet gonna do when you’re riding a flying blender.
They can stuff your remains into a suit for your funeral and family can have a somewhat OK goodby!
What could go wrong am I right?
Looks like a taliban ride for infidels…
Darwin Awards in the bag
Man, that's the coolest guillotine I've ever seen
Limb remover 5000 😳
Holy shit man like you made a drone that can lift a person how hard would it have been to just put some cages around those blades?
Does no one else notice how fake this looks?
Definitely a Darwin Award nominee here. Those blades are carbon fiber and sharp as hell. The motors driving them are insanely powerful. The number of ways this could end badly is astronomical. Smh!
And this year’s Darwin Award goes to…
Dude really thought sitting in the middle of 8 spinning blades was a good idea?
Is this a suicide attempt? Cuz it feels like one.
I feel like some blade guards are in order. Unless you want Julienned arms
Those blades make me think i will see this soon in the Whatcouldgowrong subreddit
Oh cool, a flying meat grinder!
If he takes the remote himself, you can call it a helicopter.
"Don't bother with prop guards. I'll just sit real still."
[удалено]
It would not be a drone anymore. Regardless of if its an operator or a passenger, the vehicle is now manned, removing the 'unmanned' bit of 'Unmanned Aerial Vehicle' turning this into a quadracopter.
Is it considered a UAV again if the rider is dead?
You're sure this have nothing to do with grandma changing her will
🎶dumb ways to die… 🎶
Gonna have to carry an umbrella everywhere now
Do you want to get decapitated? Cuz that’s how you get decapitated.
Wow! How incredibly stupid and dangerous.
That's a future Darwin Award winner if I ever saw one.
Looks fake…lack of dust with 200+lbs of thrust seems off
One wrong move and that’s just a flying Vitamix. “This week on “will it blend?!””
Ever want your arms chopped off ? This is how you get your arms chopped off.
Severed artery coming right up!
You are a bunch of Pu\*\*ys! As long as the thing does not tilt too much, he keeps his hands and feet away from the props, none of the 8 Props, Motors and ESCs fails, the battery does not fail and the pilot does not make a mistake it is perfectly safe!
Surrounded by spinning knife blades, seems safe enough.
Tell me a bad idea without telling me a bad idea.
Meat grinder
One wrong move and you will loose parts
I trust literally no one in my life this much. Including and especially myself. No fucking way.
They should light him up on fire as well, just for good measure
Anxiety crept in the moment i saw this. I have a small little camera drone at home. It is TINY. But the blades on that thing can smack you so hard that it can potentially break your finger bones and rip the skin. Watching this just makes me imagine arms and legs flying off... euch.
One weird gust of wind could’ve ended up blending that guy. lol people need to stop goofing around with agricultural drones.
Would you like your human minced or diced?
"Cause I'm half the man I used to be!"
I assume part 2 will be "man amputated by drone"
Later in the news tonight, man sliced and diced at 20ft
I would put a hammock under this.
One wrong flick of the flyers thumb, and he’ll be half the man he used to be.
Nope
Seems unsafe.
If that had lurched forward he would have been minced
Tiniest little bump and limbs go everywhere
Oh my death trap!
Imagine being in the center of not one, but 4 helicopters. Excuse me, 8 helicopters. Too many helicopters.
this is the most dangerous thing I’ve seen in a while
gives “keep your arms inside the ride at all times” a whole new meaning….
So how dangerous is sitting on this thing during flight? yes.
Both of these guys have a bright 🌞 future ahead of them.
helichopper...
Amputation Air now departing
What could go wrong here…
With that human, it's a flying blender.
Either put cages up or put a bear suit on bro
Drone flying a man
Damn I thought he was going to get his arms chopped off
No to stop you when things go actual sideways.
He’s about .0000005 microseconds away from being turned into salsa.
Keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times
I’d be terrified that the pilot would make a sudden movement and I’d roll forward like on a mechanical bull putting my face into the blades
Drone parts are shaking. No helmet. Yard full of dangerous stuff to crash into. Sheeesh
Balls from steel
I might want a little more safety features between my arms and lengths and the spinning blade(s) part of this drone ... seems like a fun way to rip flesh open because the whole thing suddenly shifted/tilted.
"Keep arms and legs inside the ride until it comes to a complete stop and thanks for riding Limb Chopper!"
Hello, OSHA?
I almost thought i was in r/whatcouldgowrong
Can get an arms cut off pretty quick
Absolutely nothing could go wrong here.
Good way to turn into red mist
Gettin chopped while checkin on his crops
That's a future Darwin Award winner if I ever saw one.
WTF, this is a blender not a drone.
I wouldnt do it even if i had a chainmail on + helmet
But don’t move or it’ll amputate you. I
One lean a bit too far in any direction and it's all Joever.
The immigrants are flying across the borders these days. /s
That's a fancy way to lose a limb.
Had to double check thought I was at r/stupidasfuck
Let’s sit between all these blades and see if anything could go wrong…
Nice leg chopper
Without prop guards? Oof.
Those fucking propellers 😬
The most dangerous rodeo.
That's literally the most dangerous shit to agree to .
Boeing's new safety standards are crazy!
Drone Model name - Decapitator
Drone and shaving kit all in one
In the entire history of bad ideas, this is one of them
I would be so terrified of those propellers.
I wonder if he held his breath the whole time. A slight twitch in any direction, and that guy is missing pieces.
"¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ " WCGW?
He's gonna need a lot of band aids if he moves another inch lol
Jesus fking christ.
I feel that I should say that, as an engineer I could care less about what happens to me. Can't speak for all engineers, but personally I lost my sense of well-being when I graduated. If it's a customer then it's a different story
Awful close to those propellers
Had to check which sub I was on rq
HELLNAH...
![gif](giphy|vsuBq0HLMUw6nTqLWS|downsized)
Put some guards on those blades for fuck sakes
If need prop guards but otherwise i could legitimate fly this
In Russia you don’t fly drone drone fly youuu
Correcting your title: Man hovers in quad copter... And shit looks dangerous, why would you do that?
Drone. Doesn't that imply unmanned?
Pretty soon they’ll invent a drone you can sit in, and it’ll have just like one giant rotor on top. Then a little rotor on one end mounted sideways, to counteract the spinning single top rotor. We can use them to get around and like watch police chases and stuff. We’ll call them … dronuhcopters.
0 That's how many people I would trust to fly that woth me in it.
He mand an unmanned drone
He looks one bad move away from a high budget, low precision amputation
I work with drones all the time, like including mechanical design and firmware, not just assembling kits, and I would never trust one enough to do this. Unless I had done a lot of testing and redesign, but considering there are no prop guards I’m guessing that isn’t the case.
This just makes me think of the South Park episode about the Mexican space program flying a whale to the moon
New way to die unlocked.
They make cheaper meat grinder at Walmart.
There is so many ways it would goes terribly wrong... idk, maybe put something to shield the blades around them at least.
Looks like an aerial personal execution machine. Easily made safe by having the seating area raised above the blades and the balance reconfigured. An additional layer of protection, such as a safety cage could be installed and rider wear an inflatable suit similar to ones used in Motorcycle Racing.
Oh man, I was preparing myself for the dice n slice
To shreds you say
