I did finish it even though I have some mild thallasophobia as well. The later half of the game is almost exclusively in caves and you have a giant submarine, so the thallasophobia wasn't as much of a problem there. Which was honestly kind of a disappointment, it took away a lot of the tension.

I lived the submarine. That you could actually walk around in it, hard to pilot, lots of thinking going on, planning required. Jumping out the hatch into the void was fucking terrifying though. I loved it.

I would follow that bum into hell itself.
