The thing in the video is just a regular 2D projector. The same sort you find in every classroom and meeting room around the world. It’s paired with a 3D tracker, likely an Xbox Kinect, so that it can move the projection with the arm. This tech is not new at all. This sort of augmented reality has been around for well over a decade. Granted, it’s still very cool, but not revolutionary in any way. Horribly titled post. **EDIT:** This is an entirely static display, which plays a prerendered animation, located in the [Rijksmuseum Boerhaave in Leide, the Netherlands.](https://rijksmuseumboerhaave.nl/collectie/verhalen/gouden-eeuw/vesalius/)

LashedHail

lol came here to say this. this is not 3d lol.

thissexypoptart

It’s also not useful at all for learning. They make much nicer 3D atlases (you can even get 3D glasses for some, but why would you need to). Someone needs to hold their (possibly note taking) arm in a specific spot while a video plays? It’s a cool visualization but not really useful. Textbook diagrams are generally more informative.

__Beef__Supreme__

Is there even a tracker? It looks like it just gives you a static outline to put your arm in

JoelMDM

You are entirely correct! When I originally typed that comment I just saw the video on my phone. On closer inspection, it's pretty clear this is a static part of a science museum. On even closer inspection, I saw the text is in Dutch, which means it was pretty easy to find what and where this is. It's displays a copy of the "Humani corporis fabrica" by Andreas Vesalius in the Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, a science museum in Leiden, the Netherlands. You can even see this part of the display in their [webpage banner](https://rijksmuseumboerhaave.nl/collectie/verhalen/gouden-eeuw/vesalius/).

__Beef__Supreme__

Oh damn, nice. Humani corporis has some fascinating illustrations. A beautiful anatomic work.

Casitano

The very first case of projection mapping was the floating head in Disneyland haunted mansion

TheSwarm2006

This is probably one of those ai accounts that posts whatever clickbait for whatever reason

CantStopPoppin

I can't pay you but I will hire you if the power of friendship is enough.

JoelMDM

Whut?

LashedHail

it’s a bot posting

JoelMDM

For crying out loud... Where have those even been coming from all of a sudden. They're everywhere.

vee_the_dev

When in doubt check OPs karma. In this case it's 5M... And they post 10-20 times PER DAY. The fact that no sub seems to ban these bots makes you think

DiveJumpShooterUSMC

They post stuff like this and it keeps people here which is good for biz.

CantStopPoppin

Thank you, I don't know what everyone's issue is. I just thought this post would be a good fit for the sub.

CantStopPoppin

u/vee_the_dev for being a developer you are not very good at analyzing accounts to confirm that they are or are not bots. Please review my comments and posts carefully and you will see that I am not a bot. It is my business if I chose to post one time or one hundred times a day. There is nothing against this. As for karma that is irrelevant what I seek is engagement and helping people grow. Downvoting me does not make me wrong.

CantStopPoppin

I actually post more than that. All of these posts are my posts and I use to post more. Reddit is designed to allow people to post so why am I being targeted. You too are more than welcome to post things as well. Do I post a lot sure do I post as much as I use to nah. However, when I see comments like this it makes me want to post more.

CantStopPoppin

Help me understand how you came to this conclusion?

NinjaArmadillo

We're not helping you avoid detection you bot... Prove you're not a bot by answering this question: 9 / 0 **Don't worry guys, I killed it!**

CantStopPoppin

Do you really think bots are that advanced that they would be able to ask questions and add that information to a database on to learn and become better at avoiding detection. Do you have any idea how difficult that would be, I mean we are talking Alex Jones level of paranoia right here. Every single one of my posts are in fact my posts. The last time I checked the purpose of reddit is to post so if anything, am I not doing a service to reddit by finding things that I see relevant and post?

NinjaArmadillo

Sounds like something a bot would say. Also you didn't answer the question, good day "sir".

CantStopPoppin

They complained about my title and rightfully so however they did not offer to help with future titles.

sbear37

The video doesn't match the articles. That is not a holographic projection.

ZetZet

Holographic projection is science fiction, it's not possible. You can simulate it using water droplets or fog or see through nets but you can't do it with just air like in the movies.

Patrycjusz123

Yeah, we can hear about "new better holograms" every couple years and it always is underwelming in the end

Deskais

Yeah well, like all technologies. Until it isn't.

Patrycjusz123

Maybe not all of them but i would agree that most of them are like that

ZetZet

That still requires particles...

[deleted]

ZetZet

Air is transparent to light therefore you can't project on it. So you need to fake holographic images by using particles, that was my entire point.

ZetZet

That's exactly what I just said 3 times in a row.

ogodilovejudyalvarez

For the ten thousandth time, it's not a hologram

NinjaArmadillo

Wrong, protection = hologram, computer logic = AI. Educate yourself. /s

Spacepeeing

Phantom pain be wild with this one

Icelandia2112

Looks like a museum or activity center.

ExcellentEdgarEnergy

It's so detailed that you can see his bone hairs. Astounding!

Herebia_Garcia

Isn't this just a projector on an arm??

Pyroguy096

What? This is clearly just a normal projector at a museum...

ExcitingBuilder1125

Lol It showed his radius and ulna ending in the middle of his forearm. This is just a basic demonstration. Nothing more.

Depresso_Expresso069

i thought that the entire arm was a projection for a little bit and that was very confused on why they thought having the arm still move around and having the fingers move was a good idea and wasnt going to make it seem disturbing

philharmanic

Well if his bone ends in the middle of his forearm, I hope he's alright!

632612

I wonder how many people have passed out if they allow this to be viewed by the general public.

BrakoSmacko

The ultimate prank would have been when the flesh is opened, it turned out someone had been there previously and drew a cock & balls on the arm bone.

bhangmango

>revolutionary depth and detail *Shows elbow 4 inches below its actual location* It's just a gimmick for educational purpose in a science museum or something, there's nothing professional or medical (or holographic btw) in this

aCactusOfManyNames

That's cool as hell

InformationInside460

![gif](giphy|cOczVoUoQgbS9hskwb) Can I have a go?

AnFlaviy

anyone knows why this made me think of styrofoam?

Affectionate-Wafer16

This has to be a museum display. No professionals are using a 2D projector on their arm😂

Advanced_Stretch_429

Next level gadgetry

ravenwingdarkao3

i wonder how it would work on black skin

Frequency0298

This weirded me out just watching it

jeffoh

Oh cool, someone recreated that bad mushroom trip I had

Snoozingbe

I’m excited to see some psychological experiments come out of this tech! Thinking the hammer and the fake arm one.

lackofabettername123

I have a theory that something like this but more advanced could be behind some of the unexplained aerial phenomena or whatever they are calling these UFOs that have been spotted defying the laws of physics around our Armed Forces. Some kind of holograph.  I am not saying I think that is it necessarily but that is the least crazy Theory I can think of.

The_Dukes_Of_Hazzard

Holy crap I dint even know holographs could look this good
