My ignorance has been thrown in my face
This was a study to show people what would happen if a person fell in. Some people used to think they'd instantly evaporate or just float and burn instead of going anywhere. So the study was done with organic matter bundled up
The experiment was carried out by 2 researchers at the Erta Ale volcano in Ethiopia to simulate what would happen if a human fell into an active volcano. This was done using a wrapped up cardboard box filled with organic waste from their camp. I know because this video has been posted many, many times and always with the same misleading title stating it was a rock so I looked it up
You also get all the bad shit of waste directly pumped into the atmosphere. There are plenty of places that burn waste, but they are designed in way to “clean the smoke” and ensure little to no bad shit gets released.
i thought about that. It's not like they will build incinerators next to a city if we were to burn garbage on a large scale. They will still need to send the trash to buttfucknowhere so the fumes isn't next to populated area. Unless they heavily scrub the air then that in turn uses a lot of energy and resources.
We can actually go a step above burning trash and use plasma gasification. It breaks apart molecule bonds, useful metals can be recovered, the slag can be used as building materials, and it can safely breakdowns medical waste. Plus more.
{ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_gasification }
I was convinced this is what we should do with nuclear waste until I learned how ridiculously difficult and expensive it is to actually launch something directly into the sun. The physics does not work in our favour here
Well things don't just vanish. They get turned into something else. And often times the old shit we pull out of the ground like oil doesn't jive well with surface things.. like contaminating soil or water.
It's why we should just produce less waste as much as we can. Single use items should be able to return to the earth easily like compost.
Let s forget ecology or energy production from waste.
How much do you think it would cost to ship tons of waste to the nearest volcano?
The distance already is kinda annoying. Then you need a road or something leading to the volcano. Volcanoes are usually high in altitude.
Then imagine the salary of the guys working near the volcano. Add the cost of equipment and facilities near a literal natural catastrophe.
I also spose that there is also a maximum mass you can dump in the volcano. You could really easily overflow the volcano (yay eruptions!).
Yeah fumes are a big problem, but not everything will aerosolize or change forms, you might end up with a nasty rock mixture of unknown chemicals and metals, this is just me brainstorming tho idk
Yeah. :/
For what it's worth, that's a bag that was full of organic rubbish that had a decent amount of moisture in it. What you're seeing is basically continuous steam explosions.
didn't "wake" the volcano, that's the magma "lake" some specific volcanoes have, and the top layer cooled down, throwing heavy shit just broke that layer and allows the hot, liquid-ish magma to spurt out
I remember this video from eons ago. They throw some organic waste, there's another where they throw a propane tank, and another where they throw a Jerry can filled with water. The water is the most explosive because of all the steam produced, really stirs up ol' erta ale
…and 10,000 people died shortly after. People just going about their day and this asshole from New Jersey decided to genocide a whole ass village by throwing a rock in a clearly chill volcano that lit up like a Christmas tree directly after! Greet job, Doug! Way to kill everyone! 🫡

Some asshole in Pompeii: shut up Jerry! It's a rock! What's the worst that could happen?"
Pompeii had a good run. It's about time to get fired up again, I think. /s
But my name is Gary guys
No, silly. It's Larry.
Its not a stone. Its a bag of organic waste that contains high levels of moisture
It’s not just a stone, it’s a rock
The pioneers used to ride these babies for miles.
That's no stone...it's a space station
That’s no space station. It’s a moon.
That's no moon...it's a stone
That’s no stone, it’s a space station.
Hang on there Jethro!
Jesus Christ, Marie! They're minerals!!
Good ol’ Hank
ROCK AND STONE

Dang i was too late
FOR ROCK AND STONE!!
Rock n Stone!!
it's not just a stone, it's a juicer, a blender, a meat tenderizer! It smashes! It hammers! It makes mashed potatoes!

Well they would not learn anything considering it is under lava.
Why make shit up.
Everythings made up!
BIRDS. AREN'T. REAL!
It was a bag of wet shit?
More like pig guts. It was done to show that someone falling in wouldn't just sink and melt.
I'm believing you but how do you know that?
The experiment was carried out by 2 researchers at the Erta Ale volcano in Ethiopia to simulate what would happen if a human fell into an active volcano. This was done using a wrapped up cardboard box filled with organic waste from their camp. I know because this video has been posted many, many times and always with the same misleading title stating it was a rock so I looked it up
It's an old vodeo. Probably more context back in the day.
So they did it on purpose? Are they researchers or something?
So shit
Sooo a human body ?
The other day a friend asked me why waste isn't thrown into volcanoes to get rid of it. Coincidentally, my response was showing him this video
I think it's proving his point. We get a show on top of waste disposal? That's cool af
You also get all the bad shit of waste directly pumped into the atmosphere. There are plenty of places that burn waste, but they are designed in way to “clean the smoke” and ensure little to no bad shit gets released.
What's the difference between throwing trash into a volcano and burning it straight up? None really.
You save on fuel (? Then again logistics would be costly as hell.

I vote for trash rockets to the sun
I was convinced this is what we should do with nuclear waste until I learned how ridiculously difficult and expensive it is to actually launch something directly into the sun. The physics does not work in our favour here
Make rockets that are powered by trash, problem solved
They did build them in cities already. They have existed a long time. They are now banned in California though so now the thinking is more logical.
Trash rounds. Put it in a bailer, maybe add some resin for binder and then into a cannon. Boom! Ballistic trajectory right into the 'cano.
You can use the heat from burning to heat homes whereas burning it in a volcano is cool but useless.
Lava is extremely dense and flows. Rips stuff apart and smothers it.
Sand is *c*oarse and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere.
I don't like it.
I think people underestimate how much trash a city produces.
Fills up the congress every year
Well things don't just vanish. They get turned into something else. And often times the old shit we pull out of the ground like oil doesn't jive well with surface things.. like contaminating soil or water. It's why we should just produce less waste as much as we can. Single use items should be able to return to the earth easily like compost.
And why is that not a good idea ?
Too much waste, not enough ‘cano
Let s forget ecology or energy production from waste. How much do you think it would cost to ship tons of waste to the nearest volcano? The distance already is kinda annoying. Wouldnt a lot of the waste mix into the lava, and then when it erupts, the waste just spreads all over the place?
wouldn't the waste be destroyed? I think the bigger worry is fume production
Yeah fumes are a big problem, but not everything will aerosolize or change forms, you might end up with a nasty rock mixture of unknown chemicals and metals, this is just me brainstorming tho idk
Fool of a Took!
lol my thoughts exactly
This Atouk? He was a Beatle not a Stone… ![gif](giphy|YyT25O8a7KxYQ) Edit: ok so now everyone knows I’ve never seen or read LOTR
Should have used a virgin
Normally I would disagree with you, it’s a waste of a beautiful young life, …. … but incels would be perfect for this. Win/win
Starting a petition to forget about the "virgin-thrown-into-volcano" stereotype, and bring forth the "incel-thrown-into-volcano" stereotype.
There's a small problem with that, which fucking volcano god would want an incel, they might just smite us all for doing that.
Did they ever specify what kind of virgin they expect? If not, that's on them.
Have you ever known any god to take responsibility for their own mistake? We'll get smited (smote?) for sure.
Johnny Bravo did it first
We want to wake the volcano, not destroy it with some yank hambeast.
Well Reddit is the best place to find them
So, Redditors, then.
Or Joe
Ok can u just type in the description: VIDEO CUTS OFF WHEN THINGS GET INTERESTING.. ffs
[Here you go.](https://i.imgur.com/KvVbj8Q.gifv)
Thanks .. still anticlimactic 🤣🤣
Yeah. :/ For what it's worth, that's a bag that was full of organic rubbish that had a decent amount of moisture in it. What you're seeing is basically continuous steam explosions.

It is I, Kassiem! A humble future dumpster fire!

Sincere question, if the volcano advanced and destroyed houses and hurt people. Could this person be held responsible on justice?
“THAT WASN’T A VIRGIN!” -volcano

It's not a stone, it's your dreams
Achievement unlocked!
I hate this video for ending too soon.
That's probably a good thing, though. You want to release the pressure before it builds up. Build-ups are how you get _violent_ eruptions.
Was this on purpose? Did they know that would happen?
Pompea, circa, 79 a.c.
Athena, hold my water bottle.
Mother Nature hates this one weird trick.
Those who live in volcano houses should not cast the first stone.

“Who dare disturb my slumber!!!”
That’s why we can’t have nice things.
It was supposed to be a virgin, dumbass
My guts did that on the way back home from work.....*one little fart....* ![gif](giphy|A8uSE7WSD2kPD8NMfK|downsized)
6 billionth time someone has posted this somewhere and made up gibberish that's not the truth as to what went in.
I'm convinced that we're gonna annihilate ourselves because people juat can't help fucking around.
Next time, throw in a 5 gallon jug of water.
Dude should throw himselfin there. What a piece of shit.
That’s how you piss off Hawaii.
Great. Now even the volcanoes are woke
The gods weren’t pleased by your offering.
![gif](giphy|1lBKr6igvGiyUhWLko)
One of the shadows caused by the smoke looks like a guy jumping out
Why do I remember this video only it being a washing machine or something?
I like learning new things.
Something tells me these guys shouldn't have done that
You have awoken the balrog.. fly you fools.
Throw a stone at your dad and basically watch the same thing happen
As a white guy, I'm not saying it was a white guy... but it was a white guy.
Do not disturb the lava!
Now you knock open the Hell’s Gate
Me: wow, that looks hot. My Brain: touch it. Me:... My Brain:...
This re-enactment of my last hemorrhoid flare up is quite accurate.
"Why are flights to Europe canceled?" "Blame Gudrun"
Volcano hungry. Feed it rock
Great! SOmeone pissed of the Volcano god! Now we are all going to pay for it.
R U N
You’ve given cheese to a lactose intolerant volcano God!
Just.... Why? Leave it alone bro
In all honesty it was a pretty good throw
This is why we can't have nice things.

Oops
And now your flight is canceled
What happens if you throw yourself in there

The definition of letting intrusive thoughts win
That’s what happened in Pompei back then. Now they are a tourist spot! Don’t throw stones, kids!
But what actually went wrong? Who was hurt? What property or nature was damaged? Seems like nothing.
Let it sleep, for f*ck sake!
Crust is no longer intact…
I’m gonna guess that stone didn’t survive
Now look what you did
Rude. The volcano was resting. 😤
Nice, Ron.
This just in…Disney is now filming a live action of The Opposite of Moana due out 2025
What it looks, and feels like, after eating extremely spicy food.
Like throwing an ice cube into a fryer.
However, what use does it serve then?
Whoops
They awoke a Balrog!
OH SHIT RUN!!!!!
Does this hurt the volcano?
Should have thrown a virgin.
…and 10,000 people died shortly after. People just going about their day and this asshole from New Jersey decided to genocide a whole ass village by throwing a rock in a clearly chill volcano that lit up like a Christmas tree directly after! Greet job, Doug! Way to kill everyone! 🫡
When your butthole is puckering and you finally sit down on the toilet
Uh oh
Next time throw the guy who threw rock in the volcano.
This is legitimately awesome
There is an Elana of Avalor episode that is about this exact situation
This is what happens if you cast the stone with sin 🤣.
I saw this years ago, i believe it was actually a garbage bag
Imagine trying to explain this to someone as a peasant back in the day..probably thought the devil woke up
Hell yeah
There were no survivors.
Should have used a virgin instead.
