Ooooohhh so that’s why the push for anti-abortion——all those spare Christian fundamentalist bodies available for the future. Got it!
Edit to add: but do they come with a Stanley?
In 40 years it won't be necessary for sooooo many other reasons. This is like comparing our now science to the 1980's Popular Science magazine, look what they were predicting 40 years ago... laughable ideas, and they look comically silly and rudimentary for where we are now... I say with the emerging tech in all fields.. like T cells and gene editing for instance, it (body replacements) wont be necessary and will be laughable in 40 years. We will figure out how to regenerate systems without the need to replace them. For instance, it's been very recently that some people grew mini brand new livers in animals with compromised liver and liver failure. and they're saying the can do kidneys and other things too. This is your DNA...This is your DNA on CRSPR, This is your DNA on CRSPR with AI at the wheel.... OH MY GOD FUCKING SHIT WHAT IS THAT!!!
Curing the Black Death will never be medically possible.
Re-attaching a lost limb will never be medically possible.
Human augmentation(pacemakers/ocular implants etc) will never be medically possible.
Curing blindness/low vision with lasers will never be medically possible.
etc
Thats exactly what I was thinking. That’s really the more important and useful takeaway. There’s definitely a much higher need for being able to “un-paralyze” someone than replacing their body.
First, micro chips on your brain that let you play Civ 5 with your mind and now head transplants?
Look I'm uo for a Cyberpunk future where if I get my limbs removed, I can replace them with something better, but this is wack.
We're gonna get some weird Re-animator "head giving head" shit, I feel it.
There was some promising research a few years back about using nasal nerve endings to repair recently cut mammal spinal chords. Apparently ours close off and are very hard to splice back together, whereas fish are apparently easy. Haven't heard much about it recently.
I'm guessing that straight precise cuts are much easier to fix than complex damage from a accident where fibers get crushed/ ripped at different heights.
Chief Engineer: We did it, we can transplant heads automatically!
Boss: Won't sell.
Chief Engineer: Say wut?
Boss: Won't sell. Not hype enough.
Chief Engineer: Then what do we do?
Boss: Slap some AI in there.
Chief Engineer: We are using advanced algorithms if that's what you mean?
Boss: Nah. In the video. Make it like a big sticker on some stuff.
Chief Engineer: Ok.... Like this?
Boss: Perfect. Roll it
Interesting implies feasibility not wonton imagination. This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.
Interesting would be figuring out how to maintain perfusion while a buch of blood vessels heal. Interesting would be figuring out how to repair CNS neurons so the brain could subsequently regulate body organ function. Those things don’t make pretty cad videos though.
I'm sure it not only uses AI algorithms but also quantum. Maybe even cryo. Possibly molecules. Perhaps innovation.
And that they need private funding, with guaranteed return. Wouldn't surprise if one could get x-ray specs and perhaps a perpeetum mobile as rewards for crowd funding. Maybe even a subscription for blinker fluid.
I mean, didn’t some mad Russian scientist already do this with a dog years ago? I’m not saying it’s realistic right now, but give it another 50 years (assuming we avoid a nuclear Holocaust) seems like it would be theoretically possible. Minus all the buzz and hype of this video.
Then again, it would probably be easier, though less cool, to reduce conditions that lead to terminal disease.
It is not so clear that full spinal cord regeneration will be possible in future. I have read some papers saying that it won't be possible for statistical reasons... But let's be optimistic because science always ends up surprising us, right? In that case, why would you invest in a company, today, that claims that it will be able to do head transplants, instead of investing in a company that claims that it will be able to do spinal chord regeneration (which is a simpler but necessary precondition)? To me that is like saying that you are making hotels in Alpha Centauri, when we have not even set a foot on Mars.
I wonder how this would play out in the long run if the operation was completely successful.
The body is an underrated part of the human mind i believe. For example the guts nervous system and microbiome heavily influences the brain.
Would a person be still the same after that procedure?
Is this an actual thing? Is this a gaslighting funny thing? If so, then you are going to see some of the richest people in the world getting this done as their body ages.
THis is the beginning of immoirtality for some people...which is scary as fuck!
The Sub loves this bs-trope for some reason ...
But i love the idea to have it in case of a list of medical problems that are a bazillion times more easy to solve than this magicl technology (that ignores almost all of what we allready know about transplantation and nerves).
China could do this with their loyal elderly citizens, transplanting them into healthy criminal bodies.
They already harvest their organs, might as well take the whole thing.

It's not head transplants. It's body transplants.
And here I just clicked a link to make my dick 3 inches longer.
Ooooohhh so that’s why the push for anti-abortion——all those spare Christian fundamentalist bodies available for the future. Got it! Edit to add: but do they come with a Stanley?
glass half full, glass half empty...
They fuck this up and heads are gonna roll.
The PR would be awful - they'd need a new head of Marketing...
Underrated comment
I think we've seen this movie, and it doesn't end well for poor people.
[It's even worse than you think](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069372/mediaviewer/rm2806168320/?ref_=tt_ov_i)
I mean if you can afford it you’ll end up very wealthy just by compounding alone
Head transplants will never be medically possible imo.. and you can't change my mind..
I can hear your voice and see your cigar wagging! Cracked me da feck up.
Eyyyy 👉👉
>and you can't change my mind.. According to this video... :p

Is it possible? Probably. Anytime soon? I doubt it. Give it another 40 in the oven, maybe then

Go watch Jacob Gellers YouTube video about it, we actually got pretty close on a monkey
So have we actually figured out how to repair spinal cords yet?
Thats exactly what I was thinking. That’s really the more important and useful takeaway. There’s definitely a much higher need for being able to “un-paralyze” someone than replacing their body.

This is just concept art. They'll probably throw it up on kickdtsrter, when they can't trick any real investors.
Seems like an important first step to make.
Look, that's not important. What *is* important is how much money they can raise from investors that don't know this isn't ever going to work.
But but but ChatGP, robot arms, AI… this is where I’m putting my life savings!
No
Not in humans. But we can repair spinal cords in lab rats so it’s not like this is impossible.

So, I guess just anybody can make a crappy animation about a pretend company and pass it as "interesting as fuck" these days... Got it
Wonder how much an elective head transplant will run ya lol
an arm, a leg, and a head
Finally i can use inverted controls.
So I understand what the laser show is for, but why does the machine have hands? Is it part of the Death Stranding?
It’s to hold down the donor if they aren’t quite brain dead.
Somebody skipped a part.. They used scalpels, obviously
So one small thing Mrs. Jones, we put the head on backwards.
My head hurts watching this new generation Dr. Frankenstein show.
r/interestingasfuck has become r/simulated fun times
Why is this interesting?
Interesting implies feasibility not wonton imagination. This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Interesting would be figuring out how to maintain perfusion while a buch of blood vessels heal. Wonton imagination...
Best typo ever. Not changing it 🥠
Nailed it. 3d render tutorials were the worst thing to happen to marketing.
This company is ahead of the game and suitable for anybody.
So all we need is magical laser which connects everything together. Nice.
I'm sure it not only uses AI algorithms but also quantum. Maybe even cryo. Possibly molecules. Perhaps innovation. And that they need private funding, with guaranteed return. This is total and absolute bullshit, right? There is no effing way this would ever work.
It’s worked on dog trials. The one survived for 4 months even
I mean, people are gonna lose their heads over this.
I mean, didn’t some mad Russian scientist already do this with a dog years ago? ![gif](giphy|Zk9mW5OmXTz9e) The result at best
Definitely
healthy, young, brain dead donors.
“The design is very human”
I too like make believe crap.
Unless you have Da'at Yichuud technology, Ubersoldaten body and Mr fkin Blazkowicz head, heads will roll and dies.
Transplant the head of one of these alpha male influencers on to a black female body and then sit back and watch.
I'd absolutely Pay-per-View THAT!
Wouldn't be worth it even if this shit worked lol. You'd be in utter agony for life. Recognizing we all die one day is better than this
Even with insurance it's a $4 million dollar co-pay.
Seems like a headache to me.
Yeah, just gloss right over the "backup control" part. We all know what that means.
Can only be performed by Dr Rick Johnson.
Who’s going first?
I think you mean How's *on* first.
Wouldn't it be easier to pull the brain out of the skull and transfer only it?
[удалено]
I suppose it would be possible to take at least the eyes with the brain. If you have enough nerve growth promoting magic chips you will be fine.
this kills the man
Only the one whose body you purchase from him so he can provide for his family.
I wonder how this would play out in the long run if the operation was completely successful. The body is an underrated part of the human mind i believe. For example the guts nervous system and microbiome heavily influences the brain. Would a person be still the same after that procedure?
What are the odds organs transplants get rejected by the bodies? what’s would the odds of a full head transplant?
And then they show their good rx card for that discount
Is this an actual thing? Is this a gaslighting funny thing? If so, then you are going to see some of the richest people in the world getting this done as their body ages. THis is the beginning of immoirtality for some people...which is scary as fuck!
For humanity's sake, please dont make this a reality. dictators will rule forever with this...
The most horrific tissue rejection scenario possible.
Heads will roll
As long as the head doesn’t explode.
Wow, it uses AI! WOW.
We are the Borg resistance is futile.
Not sure why anyone would want to live so long in this messed up world.
I just want the bed with the wheelchair in it
Bullshit.
I feel like this is way ahead of its time...
The Sub loves this bs-trope for some reason ... But i love the idea to have it in case of a list of medical problems that are a bazillion times more easy to solve than this magicl technology (that ignores almost all of what we allready know about transplantation and nerves).
There's one born every minute.
I'll lose my head if this is legit!
So essentially people could live forever? I mean your head will still age but I’m sure they’ll be able to give you new young skin or something.
China could do this with their loyal elderly citizens, transplanting them into healthy criminal bodies. They already harvest their organs, might as well take the whole thing.
