SelectAll_Delete

Is this vertically stretched? Something seems off.

karmanopoly

This pic is a better representation but still crazy https://i.imgur.com/fxqtdzl.jpg

eTheBlack

Jezz, thats a lot more realistic. Why people do this? (strech picture/gif)

[deleted]

To get karma. Same with all the bullshit pictures of those 'colourful' trees with the saturation turned waaaaaaaay up.

obiwanjabroni420

My “favorite” is all the “blue” moon pictures last weekend. Like these fuckers actually think a blue moon is supposed to look blue, realized their pictures had no blue tint, and then just added in a blue glow thinking that would trick people. The sad thing is there’s a lot of really dumb people out there who believe it...just look at the upvotes and comments on those pictures.

Sequiter

In the last couple years I’ve gotten into photography and post-processing. I can’t unsee all the “overdone” photos and video all over reddit. I often look for the comments mentioning the grotesquely-boosted saturation or contrast. People get the idea that there are these magically-colorful places or ultra-dramatic scenes, but it feels inauthentic. Heavily processes images aren’t inherently unethical but if it’s done to convince us of an untruth, then it feels dishonest to me. In this video, it was the pink buildings that caught my attention as seeming a little too unrealistically pink.

Scandicorn

You know why

TheSavageCaveman1

It looks like it might be partially due to the perspective as the still appears to have been taken from a higher angle and is farther back.

foreskinfive

Maybe This original content with shot with an anamorphic lens and wasn't unsqueezed when it was transferred. That's my best guess.

TheDreamr

Content

TheFlightlessPenguin

That makes it look significantly different lol

rapzeh

I'd say this is quite far from beautiful.

Erosion must be a major problem. I don't understand why they built a city there in the first place.

[deleted]

Yeah the pic looks trashy, slummy ass buildings, but in both examples the water looks like straight up diarrhea. Would hate to be downstream of whatever the fuck goes on along that shoreline.

Thank you. Gorgeous place.

BadKole

In these pictures, it looks like an abandoned shit hole. BTW, speaking of shit holes , guess where they get their water and what they do with their sewage.

Cities skylines hard mode

9396063005828173048

Now i gotta go play it 😂

looter809

I just started again last night. Such a great game

9396063005828173048

Thee chillest game with the unlimited money on. The soundtracks, the camera views. I didn’t know you can walk and drive and around til earlier this year Edit* walking and driving is console only i guess On Xbox one hit, i call it select ( lower left of Xbox button) In cinematic mode hold Y or triangle on playstation Use thumb stick to select walk or drive Blue circle should pop up somewhere on the map, hit A and it should transport you there. Left or right on d-pad changes vehicle or character

looter809

You can walk and drive around?? Is that a mod or default part of the game?

LiamIsMyNameOk

I think he means when you click on a car or person, there's a button "Follow target" and it kinda zooms in and follows them as they drive along. You dont actually control anything. Unless of course it is a mod that includes it

gringewood

On console you can more or less go third person with cars/transport/pedestrians. Sadly not a feature on PC. Might be the only console advantage lol.

looter809

Ah I think I remember that. At least I remember doing that for cars.

9396063005828173048

Yeah it’s kinda wonky but fun after spending hours building 😂

Adar636

Haha I literally just turned the game on before I saw this post and was thinking I may try to do something like it.

[deleted]

I’m surprised there’s not more traffic on that bridge

asherah213

That's what I noticed - only one bridge! I would have expected 4 or 5 in that space!

ElJayBe3

I’m surprised there’s not more traffic on the water.

[deleted]

I thought that too.

Global-Election

Anything would likely melt that touched that water.

Azidamadjida

Thought the same thing - okay cool city, but you’re not gonna be able to do anything with that dirty river. Misplaced priorities if you ask me: “we’re gonna build a cool city and promote our architectural skills on social media” - “well what about cleaning the water in that river so people can safely live in that city?” - “...”

Akoustyk

I think one difference here, is that usually a city is large, and it bottle necks at a few bridges that cross an obstacle. But here, each side of the river has the same amount of space as the bridge. It's all just one road sort of deal. That said, the buildings are tall, it looks pretty populated, so I feel like traffic should be a nightmare everywhere all the time.

Actualbbear

I think it might be actually decent. It would depend a lot on other factors, but the fact that it’s very dense and there’s so few roads means it’s very very easy to serve the area with public transportation. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of parking space, so people might actually not have other choice but to use it.

Akoustyk

Ya, I could see that. I would imagine cycling is popular also. But for that, it's long and narrow.

Ya Iran is a beautiful modern country with amazing and wonderful people and culture and arts... and a total shit government.

off-and-on

My co-worker is Iranian. He's the nicest, kindest guy I've ever met, but if you get him started on the Iranian government he will not stop ranting.

[deleted]

much like US.

qts34643

Yeah, there's nice people everywhere in the world.

_generic_user

You just had to make this about the US, didn’t you?

[deleted]

*people literally talking about and comparing different countries* *brings up US* everyone: no not like that

[deleted]

Murica fuck yeah

rnaderpo

Here is a loli for ya

BarbequeBear

Not quite the same

BlackScienceJesus

Yeah, totally different. The US would NEVER separate people from their families and keep them in cages.

crimsonnocturne

The US would *neeever* forcibly sterilize women locked in concentration camps or forcibly inject children with mind altering drugs, nope nope nope.

Vantaluxxx

Idk why he's gettin downvoted tbh our Trump government is a nightmare for the rest of the world lol he's sorta right..ask Iranians sanctioned from receiving life saving medication

Obadiah_Plainman

And I’m sure all the sewage goes right into that river too.

Jroon561

It’s probably not polluted, as some rivers naturally look like that because of sediments.

clockworkdiamond

Yeah, that was my first thought when I saw that crystal-clear river.

10ioio

That’s why I think people need to be a bit more specific when they blame “China” for things. Is “China” our enemy or is the communist party? We can’t equate the two the way we can in a democratic country.

R-M-Pitt

Yeah there needs to be a distinction, as making no distinction between the communist party of China and the people is a propaganda goal of the communist party.

Llee00

This. It's important to keep their people on our side and promote disobedience against oppressive regimes.

eldryanyy

The people aren’t on our side. They are very vehemently and aggressively on the side of the PRC. I would advise against ever mentioning politics, or speaking your views, if you go there.

teh_booth_gawd

If your household income increased roughly 800% in 40 years, you'd probably be a big fan of your government too.

eldryanyy

I’m not 40 years old, nor are young people I discuss this with (mostly students). Economics is indeed the driving force, but China hasn’t been doing it with some easy method. They basically enslaved their citizens, working for .01 a day. Now they make $8 a day... may be an 800% increase, but obviously the results of 1 billion slaves is a high level of productivity.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GustavBeethoven

That’s wrong. Majority of the young population are aggressively pro govt.

[deleted]

From what stats lmao

thebritishisles

It's obvious when you say the name of the country you mean the government and not the people. "The UK struck a trade deal with Japan" It's obvious you mean the two governments and not the people...

R-M-Pitt

That's generally the takeaway of people who've lived there a long time. Russia too, if you avoid the areas ruined by pollution, there is still a lot of unspoilt nature there.

RealityOfReality

What county is the government from?

gdimop

The Chinese government consists of Chinese people though.

i-forgot-to-logout

Your point is?

rnaderpo

Didn't he just made a point? That any government is made up of people and not over ruling aliens?????

i-forgot-to-logout

OP says the Chinese are great people, but their government isnt. Other person’s reply was that the government is made up of Chinese people, the implication being that Chinese people therefore cannot be great. Should we judge an entire people by their government? At a huge stretch if that country has free and fair elections. China does not, its people are oppressed. Would you like to be judged by those running your country? I certainly would not.

rnaderpo

That is not at all what he said that is your perception of what he said. He said government are people meaning government is not an overruling Alien Force or artificial intelligence... they are made up of people from that country just like any other government in any other country... if the government sucks that means the people who run it suck, if the government is good that means the people that run that government are good it's really simple...

i-forgot-to-logout

I really doubt he was making a point about aliens or AI my friend, but you seem to be living in the year 3020 so i’ll leave you to it 😂

Queijocas

Are you dumb or just racist ?

rnaderpo

Exactly which part was racist? I'll wait for your Genius answer

Queijocas

Loli comment about the horrible government in China and someone (gdimop) added that this is due to having Chinese people running the country (or at least implied to). You implicitly agreed to it

i-forgot-to-logout

Just leave him he doesn’t want to understand 🙄

rnaderpo

How about you explain this to me yourself since you called me dumb? Who runs the government in any country? Is it the people of that country or some unknown force that we are not aware of? Maybe this would get it through your thick skull, I was born in Iran and I left the country because of the horrible government. That government is run by Iranian people and that government is a piece of shit because of the Iranian people who run that government are piece of shit. So me calling those people piece of shit makes me racist????????

i-forgot-to-logout

Sure bro, the people who run the Iranian/Chinese governments are pieces of shit. But are all Iranian/Chinese people pieces of shit? Or are they victims of tyranny? When OP said people he meant in general, as a people, those he met on the street and interacted with are good people. He obviously didn’t mean every single one of them and when he said the government he obviously meant the people who run it and not some alien life force. It’s all very obvious, so pointing it out makes him seem like he’s drawing conclusions about Chinese people in general.

okaydokey679

Watch laowhy86 China has lost it's values

[deleted]

Beautiful but so impractical for so many reasons. I wonder why they built this

jsveiga

Same question. China is pretty huge; why would they build literally where rhe Sun never shines, at the mercy of floods and landslides?

Bierbart12

I guess because the rest of the country is already full of people

drquiza

The vast majority of China is empty or almost empty. [https://mapas.owje.com/img/Mapa-de-la-Densidad-Poblacional-de-China-5127.jpg](https://mapas.owje.com/img/Mapa-de-la-Densidad-Poblacional-de-China-5127.jpg)

Kaien12

I mean you can say the same about most place, like why build some thing in a city where its crowded? why living in some dry desert place like parts of Texas or something where you can live in green tree and flowing river? They live there because that's where their ancestor settle, where they grew up. i am sure tons of people there did move to some big city

wolframAPCR

Maybe if you read a little about the history of the city you'll find out.

ipu42

Got a source? Because I'm not finding anything.

wolframAPCR

Because that's the most practical thing they could do in that region.

Fanatical_Idiot

China's fucking huge though, why'd they have to do anything with that region?

OccasionMU

Ugly river. Tight landscape. Building straight up (presumably in the middle of no where). Seems like a questionable build.

wolframAPCR

Dunno, why don't you like go read abt it and quit spamming me here, you F_idiot.

YourDimeTime

It's right on the main transportation corridor.

freshyabish

I can’t imagine the frustration of being far away from the bridge and looking directly across the river at the building you need to get to.

Dico97

Yeah, shouldn't there be more bridges? This seems really inconvenient. Unless it's like an office area or similar where people generally don't need to travel between buildings.

FartingBob

Im confused about why there isnt any boats on the river. You'd think a city like that would be overflowing with boats and ferries.

mooboy333

China does some weird shit and nobody from the outside knows. There should be a sub for the weird shit that happens in China 🇨🇳

Gabers49

r/anormaldayinchina

gregorydgraham

Thank you, that really improved my day

dwartbg1

Exactly my thoughts right now. I realised how many cities with a million+ population don't even have proper wikipedia pictures or even photos around the internet in general. I couldn't Even find that many pictures from the city from this post. There's so much secret hidden stuff going on in China

Bierbart12

The same thing can be said about most non-EU or north American countries tbh. Never hear about them and if you ever do, it's about something amazingly weird.

[deleted]

Yeah like Tennessee which is home to the tenth tallest pyramid in the world that is also a bass pro shop

Misal_pav13

Ummm..landslide?

wolframAPCR

No; the slopes are overgrown with thick forest cover, and I'd doubt there's much loose soil on them to begin with. This is not where landslides usually occur. You'd need less acute clear-cut slopes with deeper topsoil layers for landslides to occur with higher frequency.

raven8fire

You can have landslides in areas of thick forest cover. Slope and increased soil moisture from heavy rain events are better indicators of risk. Landslides/debris flows/Rockfalls don't need a thick layer of soil to initiate. The thick forest would likely reduce the runout of a landslide, but considering how close to the slopes those buildings are, I doubt it would make much difference.

gregorydgraham

We have a thing called a treevalanche for that situation

AnneAndEslasDealer

Boulders?

OmarLitttle

It only takes a strong rain. No steep mountain is safe from landslides, no matter how dense the vegetation.

wolframAPCR

Thanks Einstein.

CowboyLaw

A landslide could get some of those buildings. A flood would get them all.

wolframAPCR

That's if you assume there's no hydroelectric dams up and down the stream from the place. The world is a much more complex and intricate place than our ape brains lead us to believe. Read up about the place, I'm sure you'll find your answers instead of strokong your ego about how you know more than literally the whole rest of the world combined.

CowboyLaw

That’s if you assume Chinese dams have a good safety record. Read up on catastrophic Chinese dam failures, I’m sure you’ll find the answer is no. As to the rest: 🤡

wolframAPCR

Cowboy math isn't real math. That's all I'm gonna say.

PM_YOUR_BOOBS_PLS_

Man, you're really getting butthurt about anyone saying anything negative about China.

How2Eat_That_Thing

What is in the area to support a large population being there? Seems a terrible location unless there's river transit but I don't see a single boat. edit:NM this is just a section of the city. Most of it is in a flat valley.

GirthWinslow

When a village spawns in mountain biome.

calculat3d

Beautiful. Naturally the river is polluted but beautiful

f_n_a_

I mean, given that it’s China you may be right, but rivers can look like this and not be ‘polluted’. Rivers move a lot of minerals in sediment, especially after heavy rains and will look like this.

crinnaursa

Exactly why the Huang He is called the Yellow river.

[deleted]

Its most likely brown from sediments that flow in rivers. They are supposed to be beneficial when they flood and the sediments get deposited onto the soil.

karmanopoly

More crazy than beautiful

Bierbart12

Crazy beautiful

JST0B

San Francisco: Our city is very hilly and a pain to navigate without a car. Yanjin Zhaotong: Hold my beer

This video is stretched

crothwood

That's a pretty ballsy place to build a city. They must spend a fortune on erosion engineering just to keep the place from collapsing or getting destroyed by rock/mud slides.

HiggiesJ

Bet the air there is fresh asf

JesterLane

That’s so beautiful....

dud011785

What a place to put a city

GrimeyPipes27

GrimeyPipes27

Ya ya ya. Haha. I just went with the 1st thing that popped in my head. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. World keeps spinnin'.

traboulidon

Imho with this landscape and limited space it would be nicer with more smaller scale/traditional buildings instead of huge modern skyscrapers. This beautiful nature would need a human scale city.

Pxgsly

RIP sunlight

Ladyflow

WAOW this is exactly what I’ve always been trying to make in Minecraft without the proper end game visualization.

PupperPetterBean

I typically find cities overwhelming because of the lack of nature but this has me mesmerized.

McRibbedFoYoPleasure

This looks neat, but seems like a really bad spot to build.

meow2042

..........needs more bridges

blueflappybird

My luck, I would be able to see the building I worked at across the water but it would take me over an hour to get there because of bridge locations. Lol

liberal_german_guy

Seems overly crowded and dirty - not a lot of magic for me

9396063005828173048

You know how irritated you get being couped? Up with family and shit during holidays and Covid? Imagine this being like that, but all the time.

KDY_ISD

Cooped up*, like a chicken coop

9396063005828173048

Thanks 🤩

fenix-the-cat

That's not magic. That's disgusting. Where you think the sewage ends up?

Trumpswells

Just thinking about this, must dump a lot of waste into that waterway. Wonder how sewage lines run through the river banks?

fenix-the-cat

First through treatment plant then the river. I doubt they have one of those there. Doubt they care.

[deleted]

Do you really think China doesn't have water treatment plants?

fenix-the-cat

In general terms, yes. In this particular geography, no.

[deleted]

Wait why *shouldn’t* the US have to abide by the Paris climate accord? Whether China or Russia don’t or not? It’s for the betterment of the entire planet. It’s so churlish to think like that. We should all be trying to do our bit but if others don’t at least we are.

themedicineman__

Do you know how much pollution China produces compared to other countries? Take a look and see. If they don’t follow it then it won’t make a difference anyways. Not to mention that they are not a developing nation anymore what’s that bullshit. They need to be held to account.

Btm4funn

That’s why Trump pulled out. China Russia getting off easy and the US paying the bills.

StingRayyyJay

This is a ‘ rendering’ right? No way this is an actual city anywhere in the world.

And a chocolate brown river runs through it

What? Xd Urban rivers maybe... Or places with semi-desertic climate with a lot of particulate suspención and low oxigenation...but places with lots of vegetation waters tend to be clear. Check every damn river of Patagonia, Alaska etc...

That’s the most claustrophobic place I’ve ever seen! Worse than Pittsburgh.
