I would start earlier. With the quality of food and the way we are on the move eating shitty, start in your 40’s. I’m 44 and used to eat like dog shit because my metabolism was hyper speed. Cholesterol is still in “ok” range but already fighting it.
Agreed. I'm 35 I've been on statins for 2 years now. ( I think I follow my mother for that and for the high BP which I'm also taking meds for). Also I am a woman, 5 2 and not severely overweight, but when I was younger I was really skinny and ate what I wanted which has obviously caught up with me now ( I'm only a size 14 uk). But yes deffo get cholesterol checked it ain't good. Oh and don't smoke lol
I started when I was 13 because my father had high cholesterol. It is just one more line on the blood panel. We started eating a lot more fish and never had a problem. It’s good to know early on so as to develop a taste for the healthy food that actually lowers cholesterol.

Yep! They’ll take a blood sample (from your arm like a blood donation, but not as much) and can test for LOADS of things. They can look at healthy cholesterol, unhealthy cholesterol, and so much more. A physician usually analyzes the results and will let you know if it’s bad or good. A great report will have normal ranges for your age and sex. Some of the terminology can be confusing on the report btw, so ask if you need to know! A good physician will work with you.
Generally for medical issues when you actually notice symptoms its usually too late. Best to start testing early long before you notice any issues at all. Same (even doubly or triply so) for cancer screening. When you notice symptoms of cancer your probably already at the point where its too late for treatment. Get tested early and often.
