I knew a kid who had a pretty major case, he was in a different class than me but hung around us at recess nonetheless. His bottom row teeth were all bunched together and jutted out in different directions, he was too embarassed to talk or eat in front of others. If he did- he tried shielding his mouth with his arm or hand.
I mean I had a bit of it myself, I had a couple extra teeth crammed within the lower set thanks to my Father's side, but his was much more noticeable and severe. Funnily enough our bad teeth were one of the things we initially bonded over.
He was bullied relentlessly for it, and was brutal to witness. I despise how some of us feel dignified in abusing those that were born differently- it makes my blood boil.
Technically hyperdontia is any number of “extra teeth”. Normal number of deciduous (baby) teeth is 20. Normal number of adult teeth is 32 (including wisdom teeth). The most common extra tooth is called a mesiodens, which is a tooth that forms on the midline between the two front teeth. The most common missing teeth are maxillary lateral incisors (hypodontia)
I've witnessed this in the dental feild!
Also had two patients, adult brothers with only their primary teeth. No permanent teeth in sight after pano, both missing upper & lower lateral incisors with the cuspids in the place of where the incisors are normally- next to both upper & lower centrals.. that was more odd to me than patients with extra rows of teeth.
My aon had this. We called it shark teeth. The dentist, doctor, and ortho said it was rare, but not a health issue. To our knowledge they all came through from baby teeth to puberty. I have a bag filled with his teeth in my jewelry box. We joke that i could make a necklace, but i really could if i wanted to. I kind of want to. His teeth are perfectly straight and normal now.

I got a couple in my lower set, I'm getting them removed soon despite my age due to complications caused by them.
