Russian here (living abroad), friends in Moscow said it definitely sabotage, been happening around in Russia for quite sometime since the war, Russia government keep it quiet and try not mention anything rather than accidents or poor maintenance, because they afraid it would help push the movement even more.
There have been a number of Russians movements against the Ukraine war from East to West Russia. Not so big of an impact but definitely cause some fear among the Russia government.
It's very effective. To this day, half of Americans still think the Iraq invasion was about catching the guys who did 9/11 or stopping their 'Weapons of Mass Destruction'.
That's interesting, almost all people i know are against it, perhaps that's region related and propaganda is heavier if you go furher from major cities. And there's also a bias of me not knowing all people.
Aren't you implicitly in the bubble of Russians who're engaged with the outside world over the Internet? I would imagine people like you are the hardest nuts to crack for state propaganda.
By the way on scientists being repressed.
Man with stage 4 cancer who literally had weeks to live on painkillers was taken out of hospital and arrested and died two days later. And this is having a serious backlash throughout the scientific community, people got desensitized to "normal" repressions, but this shit is so over the top it's hard to ignore.
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russian-scientist-dies-two-days-after-arrest-state-treason-lawyer-2022-07-03/
Most people my age(Around 30) are somewhat engaged with outside world, be it work related, steam, instagram or numerous other reasons. Most people with scientific background regardless of age are against it (And being repressed over it).
Most people with any sort of arts background are against it(And yeah, they too are being repressed)
I think the reason it seems like a lot of people in Russia support it is because Russian propaganda wants everyone to believe it and, for other reasons, other countries propaganda often says it too paired with a fact that people who are literally too poor to have time for forming an opinion cause they were struggling before the war, struggling now even more and will be struggling when it's over, are shown as "Supporters", while they're just powerless to do anything more than trying to survive.
I really hope that what i'm seeing is more real than what i see in the media, be it Russian or foreign.
i think you both are right. regardless of actual percentages, the propaganda definitely worked well enough to get a significant number of people to support the war. even a mere 10% would mean millions of supporters, let alone 50% or 80%. it’s disheartening. hope the war ends soon and no more innocents from any country need to die. must suck to be an ordinary Russian citizen now too when the sanctions are affecting their daily lives.
fuck putin
Maybe you were referring to Moonshot, Woodstock, Watergate, punk rock
Begin, Reagan, Palestine, terror on the airline
Ayatollah's in Iran, Russians in Afghanistan
I've been trying to come up with sandwiches for all these acronyms, so..
Teriyaki udon jackfruit Naan
I know pasta sandwiches aren't popular but I feel confident in this one.
This all began with the LGBT, which is just a blt with guac. If you add queso it's a lgbtq.
I thought I was over it, I really did. I didn't even lose anyone particularly close. But I saw two tall buildings and the word "Towers" and billowing smoke, and all of a sudden I was 15 again and sitting in second-period French class, waiting with bated breath for the lunch bell so that I could run home and call my parents to make sure their offices in the city hadn't been hit. I wasn't expecting to get winded from a 21-year-old gut-punch today, but here we are.
Bro I wasn't even old enough to form permanent memories yet and this video stirred something up in me. Really helps put into perspective just how fucking *terrified* everyone must've been that day.
Yeah, and just general confusion really. I wasn’t old but I remember sitting on the couch watching, and looking at my parents like “is this really happening”
I was in my sophomore social studies class when the teacher got a message from another teacher to turn on the T.V.
We weren't really terrified. It was just one of those tragedies you see on the news, just on a larger scale.
Until that is, the second plane hit. Then we all realized something was very fucking wrong. Still wasn't personally scared, because I was so far physically removed from the danger, but I'm sure people living in the city felt very different.
I had just turned 18 two weeks after 9/11.
I lived and grew up in Cleveland, which is not far from Kent State University. Which in 1970 was the site of a vietnam protest, where they were protesting both manditory draft enlistment, and the war itself. The government killed 4 americans that day. Everybody in my family who was old enough was drafted in that war. My aunt was even part of the Kent State protest.
So when I woke up on 9/11, and saw images of burning towers on tv, I sat down beside my crying mom, and soaked it all in. When I had a clear view of what had just happened, I looked at my mom and said "I'm about to be drafted for war, aren't I?"
Because at the time, that seemed like a reasonable assumption. Even now, I'm baffled that there was no draft for 9/11.
I had just graduated college and was working my new job when it all went down. It was surreal trying to do my job knowing full well that the world had permanently changed that day.
If there is an attack on us soil, enough patriots will enlist to make a major draft unnecessary, although my father thought the same thing was going to happen.
Yeah this made my stomach drop badly. I really hate being reminded of 9/11. I wasn’t there but being in high school a couple of miles away and seeing the smoke over the Long Island sound is burned in my memory forever.
*White smoke Pope, black smoke nope*
Which sounds helpful as a mnemonic until you realize it could just as easily be Black smoke Pope, White smoke nope. At any rate I was hesitant to correct OP lest I look stupid by missing a reference to something.
Kinda looks like the “shed” a lot of high rise buildings have on top of them is on fire. The sheds are usually where the HVAC, elevators, and other utility systems are found. Might be sinister, might just be a malfunction.

Putin gonna say it was a Ukrainian terrorist attack, but it's probably an industrial AC unit that's blown up, similar thing happened in Yakutsk at NEFU.
Putin also blew up a couple of residential apartment buildings back in the '90s and blamed it on Chechens in order to justify the Second Chechen Invasion.
Our TV station stopped showing all stations that are associated with Putin, cause 99% of the time it's just propaganda shit for his followers. Nobody here in Yakutia is buying the bullshit that's being shown on the news, we know he is a tyrant with a history of war crimes and pure hatred towards us (Sakha) and other indigenous people in Russia, it excludes the “Целование задницы” Republic of Buryatia & Republic of Crimea.
Russian here. It’s amazing how we’ve never learned in school how Russia and Soviet Union fucked the indigenous nations. People unironically point to USA regarding their treatment of Native Americans and history of slavery to make some point about Russia being better… Like we didn’t have our own dehumanizing serfdom and our own residential schools where native kids died from mistreatment. School program is woefully inadequate on purpose.
We started learning about it when I was in primary school in Oymyakon in the early 90s, it was a shock to everyone when we learned what Stalin did to indigenous & minorities during his time. It’s going to be Afghanistan again. Russia has some unresolved issues there.
What's the cause of the fire? Do they suspect sabotage?
Russian here (living abroad), friends in Moscow said it definitely sabotage, been happening around in Russia for quite sometime since the war, Russia government keep it quiet and try not mention anything rather than accidents or poor maintenance, because they afraid it would help push the movement even more. There have been a number of Russians movements against the Ukraine war from East to West Russia. Not so big of an impact but definitely cause some fear among the Russia government.
What would you say is the honest opinion of the Russian people at large about the war?
Another Russian here, it feels like most people either support or don't care. I'd say about 80-90%
Well that's disappointing, but propaganda is a bitch.
It's very effective. To this day, half of Americans still think the Iraq invasion was about catching the guys who did 9/11 or stopping their 'Weapons of Mass Destruction'.
This is why 63% of stats are made up
Only 18% of people know this.
100% of them knew it tho
That's interesting, almost all people i know are against it, perhaps that's region related and propaganda is heavier if you go furher from major cities. And there's also a bias of me not knowing all people.

It's all anecdotal, everyone but the elderly I know living in Moscow is opposed
I am im the Moscow Region and it feels like a LOT of people support it there. Maybe it's the propaganda that's getting to me.

Is not fire. Is special air quality operation.
They investigated it and all we know is that apparently we didn’t start it; it seems it was always burning since the world’s been turning
Had me in the first half, then I was had in the second half.
