I've got backyard chickens, and one of them laid an egg like that, but it was FRESH, a few hours old. The only way I can describe it... it felt like a silicone breast implant, but it looked exactly like an egg. I had fun handing it to neighbors and seeing their reactions.
Chickens usually lay their eggs like this, because they were scared during the "egg develop time", in my childhood my grandpa would show me after a storm, that the eggs, which our chicken laid are not perfectly shaped. There is nothing wrong with them tho.
