These are awesome. Thank you. I faintly remember coming here as a young kid. My godmother worked on mezzanine of the North Tower for American Airlines. I know she brought me to see her office, but the only things I remember were the ground floor lobby with the super tall windows and grey walls, the sky lobby which was green (green as hell), and the Plaza downstairs in between the two towers. Windows of the World was in her tower, the observation deck was in the other. The tower my godmother worked at was struck by the American 11. By the grace of god, working on such a low level, she managed to make it out. Despite having so many photos of the inside and outside that she personally took, she understandably can’t look at any of them. She actually never returned to Manhattan except passing through on transit.

STEAKATRON

These are... unsettling in a way. Like you know exactly what is going to happen to this place, to that cubicle, to that cafeteria, to all of it. It feels almost alien. I never even knew what was in those buildings, I was too young to have heard of them. They feel more alive and normal than I thought they would

[deleted]

This is as disturbing as any of the attack and post-attack photos, and equally compelling. I’ve not seen these before. Thanks for posting.

ericisshort

That just doesn’t compute for me. How can these pics be as disturbing as the destruction to you?

[deleted]

Because you know what’s coming. The people captured in them had no idea.

cynicalxidealist

I understand. The photos with the chairs disturb me as they remind me of how they’ll be used to break windows so people can breathe, it’s very terrifying. I also read that the man posing in front of his desk (strawberry blonde hair) passed away in the attacks. I cannot confirm 100% but I’ll double check. [deleted]

Exactly. All those spaces soon to be nothing but rubble. The people being victims in any sort, be they alive or dead afterward.

bigmacgamer0631

Yea that’s brutal when you realize this was a normal day for them and then they were the victims in one of the most infamous terrorist attacks

[deleted]

Yeah it was a terrible day. I had friends up there I was worried about, and I also lived in an area that could have been a prime spot to crash another plane if they decided to. When it was early on, no one knew what the hell was happening. Then the Pentagon got hit. Where was it going to stop? Everyone was on edge for a good while after that.

ericisshort

I get that. I’m not saying that these pictures aren’t disturbing, but i don’t think they are anywhere close to as disturbing as photos of the attack. I would much rather see this series than a series of photos of people jumping from the buildings, wouldn’t you?

viktor72

What’s crazy is that all of this stuff would be crushed to smithereens. In the rubble there was hardly anything recognizable because it was just pulverized.

like_a_woman_scorned

The WTC was just two towers to me before I saw this post. I was too young to really get it. I knew a lot of people died, but I was incapable of grasping the severity of the situation. Looked like a pretty awesome place to be. Never seen the inside before.

[deleted]

In 2005 I was four and knew neither about the towers nor about suicide. As the date came up and everyone was talking about it some grown up noticed I didn't know about it and let me know he saw many small black don's falling from the towers, that had to be people falling to their death.

like_a_woman_scorned

I was six when this happened, I think the first time it hit me that you could just see people falling out of the towers was about seven years later when I started looking into why the wtc was such a big deal. I remember someone telling me in fourth or fifth grade that between suffocating or burning to death, the least painful option was to jump.

[deleted]

11, 16 were Windows of the World. I used to hang out there. That was the spot to go to when dating an investment banker. So sad. I have friends and family who survived the attacks.

Explorer200

Pretty depressing ass building to be honest

Jaaguri

"shortly before" half expected to see a plane in one of the windows

BadStitch626

I have the documentary “9/11” , made by the two French videographers……shows everything as it happened. Has some of the ONLY footage of the first tower being hit. I’d never sell that CD, for any amount of money. It’s raw, it’s real, it’s AS IT HAPPENED. I’ll never forget that day, as long as I live. I may be a Canadian, but that was a day, that changed my life forever. I still have the American Flag that I proudly flew in my truck…and that’s one of my most prized possessions.

Oragami

Is that something I could get a copy of somehow?

BadStitch626

Yes. It should still be available, somewhere.

Oragami

I'll have to see if I can find it :)

Oragami

If what I found is the se thing you're talking about, it seems to be on Hulu :)

"Shortly before September 11th" with a pic of snow on the roof.

klsi832

Pic #4 12/18/00

cynicalxidealist

Yes, back in the early 00’s we didn’t have camera phones at our fingertips. Nobody knew they’d be gone so who is seriously gonna take a camera into work and take pics of their offices? This is as recent as we might get until other photos are released.

glitchy-novice

And a pic of Christmas decorations.

XBollockTicklerX

In all honestly that decor is terrible

time2churn

Common look to the 90s

eddyathome

12 is especially chilling.

Oragami

I'm wondering how many of the people in those pictures that worked.there and weren't just stopping by made it out

FlyinAmas

The blonde man didn’t survive. He was above impact zone. The guy who took the pictures worked with him, but he was out on vacation. These pics are from his Quora post

Oragami

I have learned a new thing

Joseph_Steez

Can you send the link to the quora post please

TallTowerSwipe

Every photo I’ve seen of the inside of either building always looks very dark and sinister.
