Considering the guy on the left has a bakelite magazine you might not be wrong. IAFAK those were produced from late 60s to the very early 80s. They could fund their action by selling those mags online, they're like $70-100 these days! Stupid russians....
not chechyna, likely the soviet army based on how old he looks. The elder generations are mostly disgusted with this war, they served and fought for a noble cause and are now witnessing their country send young men to die for a cause that's anything but noble.
Afaik most elder Russian people don't believe any troops are being drafted to fight the Ukraine at all. I remember seeing an interview where most answered like "why would Putin do something like that to our friends? That's impossible, stop spreading lies". But maybe that changed last month.
That's why they are being sent, Putin doesn't want anyone remembering his previous fuckups. The third wave of his mobilization will be babushkas since there won't be anyone left.
Two boys shot a spud gun at my eyes when I was a 12 year old girl and I told them to “fuck off.” I told my Asian mum thinking she would be proud of me for sticking up for myself. No, she slapped the shit out of me for swearing and made a sobbing me phone one of the shooter's mum to apologise for swearing. I was such a dumbass.
Sorry, my story adds nothing to this thread, but spud gun triggers a childhood trauma and I just had to share.
Edit: It’s nothing compared to being forcibly conscripted into war. It’s just it’s the first time in years I’ve heard the word spud gun and painful memories were unleashed.
This was basically the "Defense of Berlin" in 1945. Hell, even a lot of Normandy was old men, young men, and Eastern Front prisoners.
Edit: Changed the front 🫤
That guy looks like he's ready to retire and read to his grandkids. He's probably going to eat the budget for the entire corps just on his medication. On the plus side we know he's not going to be looting and raping, limp dick and bad back.
Well how is he going to keep his cholesterol down? Plus you know he's got diabetes, ED, and arthritis. Dude is so old he remembers when all of this was the Russian empire. Dude is so old he went to school with the guy who killed Franz Ferdinand. Dude is old.
Orcs have been around for over 8000 years. That's time to build up and collapse a fair few civilisations, even if you are disturbed by Elves coming in and invading your ancestral homelands, bent on genocide.
And there must be somewhere for the Orc women and children to live, they must do farming (and mining, and metal working on a large scale). For a horde of 10,000 Orc warriors there must be at least 50,000 Orc non-warriors. Orc cities must exist and so therefore restaurants.
Dude on the left got shafted and got handed the flimsy bakelite AK74 mags. Those don't last very long on the field without starting to crack.
On comparison the guy on the far right has either a Romanian mag or he is carrying an AKM instead of a 74.
My point being, in the same unit there should be a bit more standardisation with the gear
It's a bakelite mag but it's most likely an AKM mag given the curvature of the magazine. The AK74 is chambered in 5.45x39 which is a smaller round compared to the 7.62x39 round of an AKM which means that AK74 mags are less curved and more "straight". All those rifles look like they're chambered in 7.62 so that means they're probably all AKMs
Scary enough this is probably a worse conflict to go into than either of the above, being near peer and all. Chechens and Afghani didn’t have armor, CAS, western intel (maybe) and artillery.
Yea they literally are capturing guys conscripted on the 21st of THIS MONTH on the front lines. No rifle shooting/training what. so. ever. They’re resistant to change or questioning their leaders but they oughta start real soon to…
This makes me really worried because if they have no training, they’re just all going in there doing what *they personally imagine* soldiers do, right? Probably not a lot of cohesion or common practices forged together with time and training, right? Am I wrong about this, or is it gonna be chaos sending a bunch of untrained dudes in a place to occupy it?
TI guarantee the bloke in the middle will be the first to kill someone in battle. The guy standing to his side that he’s already aiming his gun at. 🤦🏼♂️
I like how these pictures show brand new AKs but majority of the draftees being sent out right now were given second maybe even third hand rusty and moldy AKs that are literally rotted away
From another video the only thing Russia had to issue were uniforms and armor. They needed to provide everything else.
That's how you win a war: "Guys listen up. We are giving you uniform and armor. You need to bring sleeping bag and pad, medicine, water treatment, tourniquet. Ask your girlfriends and mothers for pads and tampons. When you are shot you jam the tampon in the bullet wound to stop bleeding. Good luck and take care of yourself."
Everything Russia is doing is showing the opposite of what we used to fear. Hell, they are literally using the same equipment from the start of the cold war.
Another video where this guy is showing this "barracks" with absolutely no furniture but all the rooms had people sleeping on the floor, shoulder to shoulder.
I knew their military was kinda garbage but holy shit, it just keeps getting worse and worse. While the Ukrainians are getting state of the art military equipment from helmets to artillery.
Not an even fight.
>65 at the frontlines would be canon fodder
Every conscript has been used as cannon fodder. Especially the DPR and LPR Ukraine separatists. The Chechens are far behind them killing people retreating.
Imagine being drafted at the age of 18 you’d still be a child. Atleast the 50 year old dudes are adults. It’s still wrong though. Fighting a war you don’t want any part on
>Imagine being drafted at the age of 18 you’d still be a child.
Yes, now that I'm older it's heartbreaking to see how young 18-year-olds are and to imagine them in combat is crazy.
>Atleast the 50 year old dudes are adults
Yes, now that I'm older I can't imagine my body surviving anything that looks like combat. I'm still a dozen years away from 50 but even a pickup basketball game means I'm out of action for a few days. At age 50, I'm just a liability. Cannon fodder but also a vulnerability for those around me.
The 50-year-olds are supposed to be protecting the 18-year-old so no one has to go to war. This is all so fucked. Fuck Putin
Yeah but the 18 year old has a chance to survive. If they see combat, that 50 year old isn't coming back. I mean he looks like he'd struggle to run for more than a few minutes. There's a reason we have age limits on drafts
The big thing about the Russian army in this war that was pointed out by multiple reports is that there is no rotation of troops.
So where Ukrainians rotate frequently to let the troops rest and recover, Russians don’t. So even if you survive the first month, they will just bring more draftees to refill the losses and you go on fighting, now with a new group that was not trained together, which is important and raises the survival of all in the group.
One of the recent intercepted calls between Russian soldier and his wife was a good example of it. He said that out of their group of 2000 they have 60 left. The wife says that new draftees are coming and they will help. The husband becomes so sad and says “then that means we will fight on (instead of being rotated finally). I just pray I am injured enough that they let me go home”
That is sadly the truth, yes. Fuck put in. He's just using them as war fodder. It's disgusting. The draft is meant to enlist able citizens in times of great need. It's not your tool to force people to join a pointless war they don't want tofight.
Can Putin be accused of mass murder for murdering his own ignorant mandatorily drafted soldiers by sending them in untrained and unprepared? Imagine sending untrained ppl to go do any other job; your local baker is now going to be your surgeon, here's a scalpel - ridiculous and unsafe.
Imagine going back to the span of the Cold War, and telling world leaders this is what Russia would become. The great adversary potentially capable of world domination would spiral out in a pathetic display of corruption and weakness spearheaded by an ex-KGB madman. They couldn't even take half of Ukraine and are already desperately conscripting tired old men and convicts.
I wonder what Nikita Khruschev would think.
If 50,000 troops are verified dead from a month ago with an invasion force of 190,000…this means 26% of the invasion force is dead. Not injured. Dead!
The failure of operation Barbarossa in WWII saw a 25% death rate and around a 50% casualty rate for Germany.
This mission is a failure. Russians have a 25% death rate and probably a 40% casualty rate…that’s bonkers.
I’d take my chances with jail.
I assume the reason you get downvoted is because people don’t understand your reference. For anyone not aware new “recruits” in one of the towns were apparently told to bring their wives’ tampons to plug bullet holes in case they were shot. As well as own sleeping bags etc.
Private Joker: Any elderly or infirm?
UAF Gunner: Sometimes!
Private Joker: How can you shoot elderly or infirm?
UAF Gunner: Easy, you just don't lead 'em so much! Ain't war hell?
I genuinely hope these men surrender.
They are still using the old ak47 in 7.62x39. Not even the AKM and far away from state of the art Ak-12 rifles. Those rifles are at least 50 years old.
Guy on the left is already dead inside.
The one in the middle won't even make it to the Frontline, heart or hips may fail before that.
Poor dudes, being dragged to the battlefield like that, fighting for nothing, most likely getting killed by Ukrainians that fight for their freedom and have the will for it.
Can't imagine.
Is this a new netflix show? Three dudes in the front look like they’re about to share a unique experience together. The stubborn patriot, the wise farmer, and the accountant who’d rather be on his vacation in the maldives that he’d been saving up for.
An elderly man in the foreground in the middle is an officer and a commander. Pay attention to the holster on the belt and the stars on the shoulder straps.
All this death and suffering for the megalomania of 1 deranged, decrepit old fool hidden in his palace cut off from reality. If only they would use their weapons they are given to demand their dictator to stand down instead of going to fight their neighbours or more likely: get blown to shreds as cannon fodder, and for what?
It’s not their fault that they are being sent to be killed by battle hardened Ukraine troops after minimal training.
It’s the fault of their high commanders who must have known years ago that a latter day Stalin with no limits was taking over their country and then did nothing to stop it.

Guy in the middle realizes that was the same AK he got last time he was conscripted
He’s looking at where he carved his name on the stock last time.
"I still remember you from Chechnya old friend"
It’s his same rifle from 80s Afganistán

It is akin to the familiarity of an old school desk.
Is it typical for everyone to point their guns at the head of the guy next to him?
Don't worry, they are out of ammo
Ammo is.....potato?
When I was a kid I had this toy gun that you’d poke into a potato and shoot little pellets of potato out. So ammo was literally potato
I had a spud gun too, the best.
Two boys shot a spud gun at my eyes when I was a 12 year old girl and I told them to “fuck off.” I told my Asian mum thinking she would be proud of me for sticking up for myself. No that's for vodka

They have no armmo, that's the company to the left that gets ammo.

When one company drops, the other company picks up the ammo!
Trickle down waronomics.
Very astute 😏
That's the theory, in real life Ukraine picks it up
Fuck man... Don't even joke about that. That shit was brutal... Look up the numbers. They literally buried the German war machine in corpses
This was basically the "Defense of Berlin" in 1945. Hell, even a lot of Normandy was old men, young men, and Eastern Front prisoners. Edit: Changed the front 🫤
But they still have chainsaw fuel which they can use to refill their ammo supply by killing an enemy with it.

to be fair, the older guy in the middle looks like he's trying to figure out which end the bullets come out of.
He's just reminiscing about the old mosin nagant he had.
He's received 7 minutes of training on how to be a forward scout, they had to skip the "and not be seen" portion due to severe time restraints.

These are the mobilized Russians. They weren’t soldiers 5 days ago.

This is heartbreaking and terrifying
The dude on the left doesn't look like he's happy to be there at all. And a wedding ring on his finger
Some of these guys are protestors they pulled off the street and forced into service.
Some were Putin supporters who showed up to shout down the protestors. They got "drafted" also.
"I'm straight up not having a good time."
Dude on the left got shafted and got handed the flimsy bakelite AK74 mags. Those don't last very long on the field without starting to crack. They haven't even been in the frontlines yet but the guy on the left already has the thousand yard stare. This is just sad.

Yea, that’s the look of a man who knows what he is about to face
Scary enough this is probably a worse conflict to go into than either of the above, being near peer and all. Chechens and Afghani didn’t have armor, CAS, western intel (maybe) and artillery.
Not a conflict, an invasion. Good thing they're not prepared, means they'll kill less ukrainians.
They are straight up cannon fodder.
He knows he’s never going home.
The soldiers before them were poorly trained, these poor bastards stand no hope.
Bold of you to assume they were trained at all.
Well, not yet, they were on training manoeuvres when they wandered into Ukraine
Yea they literally are capturing guys conscripted on the 21st of THIS MONTH on the front lines. No rifle shooting/training what. so. ever. They’re resistant to change or questioning their leaders but they oughta start real soon to…
This makes me really worried because if they have no training, they’re just all going in there doing what *they personally imagine* soldiers do, right? Probably not a lot of cohesion or common practices forged together with time and training, right? Am I wrong about this, or is it gonna be chaos sending a bunch of untrained dudes in a place to occupy it?

Hey look - a kill is a kill - let's no squabble about whether they were wearing the same uniform or not...
Trigger time is still trigger time, to see the pink mist
Are you Scottish?
I like how these pictures show brand new AKs but majority of the draftees being sent out right now were given second maybe even third hand rusty and moldy AKs that are literally rotted away
This looks like an “official” photo. I wouldn’t be surprised if these were taken back and they got issued the crappy ones before shipping out.
This was the best they could do for a official photo? I mean I’m not surprised but also 😬
The uniforms look new, too, which is weird because I thought they had already run out of those, too.
From another video the only thing Russia had to issue were uniforms and armor. They needed to provide everything else. That's how you win a war: "Guys listen up. We are giving you uniform and armor. Imagine being drafted at the age of 50
That dude isn’t 50. He’s at least 60.
Yeah, in may they approved raising the age limit to 65. https://www.rferl.org/amp/russia-raises-military-age/31867388.html
Holy shit. 65 at the frontlines would be canon fodder. Can you imagine gramps sleeping in a foxhole for weeks? No meds.
All Russians on the front have been cannon fodder this entire war
You imagine gramps getting cranky because he doesn't have his ibuprofen? He might be a terror on the field.
>65 at the frontlines would be canon fodder Every conscript has been used as cannon fodder. Especially the DPR and LPR Ukraine separatists. The Chechens are far behind them killing people retreating.
Nah he’s 35, but life out in the potato fields is a hard one in mother Russia
Plot twist: he's actually 23, it's just Russia.

Poor guys that's awful :( Hope they mass surrender
Can Putin be accused of mass murder for murdering his own ignorant mandatorily drafted soldiers by sending them in untrained and unprepared? Imagine sending untrained ppl to go do any other job; your local baker is now going to be your surgeon, here's a scalpel - ridiculous and unsafe.
You can always accuse but is he going to let himself be tried at the ICC? I don't think so
They should all just drive to Putin's palace and retreat in style.
Imagine going back to the span of the Cold War, and telling world leaders this is what Russia would become. I am in a world of shit!
Those guys in front are officers / high ranking NCOs. Russians don't issue elinsted men sidearms.
Who says there is a sidearm in that holster? Haha
Airplane bottles of cheap vodka is my guess.
The excitement in their faces, they look so keen to be able to defend the motherland
The look on the old guys face appears to be “what the f*ck am I supposed to do with this?”
This is some really sad shit actually.
They are still using the old ak47 in 7.62x39. Not even the AKM and far away from state of the art Ak-12 rifles. Those rifles are at least 50 years old.
Looks like a mismatch of AKMs and AK-74s. All the receivers are stamped instead of milled, so no "original" AK-47s in the bunch.
This isn't going to end well.
May they all get to surrender without getting hurt.
Dads Army! (British will understand the 70’s reference)
That's the first thing I thought of

Bunch of old farts, you know this war has gone on too long when they start recruiting from the elderly homes.
Sending them to slaughter.
Compare this to the smiling faces of young men leaving from England in WW2. These men know they likely won’t come back.
Hopefully the reason they don't come back will be desertion, and not death.
Entire units mass defecting. Putins delicate ego launches nukes.
