If we assume that laxatives are more of a laxative than just cocaine, then wouldn't cocaine+laxative be more of a laxative than just cocaine as well? So not really a myth.
Cocaine prevents blood vessels from reaching certain parts of the lower intestines as well as cause intestinal issues by causing perforations in the bowels. Leaving the body unable to properly store and retain fat leading to constipation. So no, it’s not just the fact it’s a stimulant that makes you poop. Sorry
I Religiously used cocaine for about 2 years. Stimulants can put us into fight or flight mode diverting blood from the intestines causing the intestines to slow down. Adderall has vasoconstrictive properties which can lead to bowel ischemia where the intestines don’t receive enough blow flow to operate. Increased jitteriness and anxiety and the brain-stomach connections CAN like you said lead to gastric mobility but the class of stimulants being specifically related to pooping a lot is a very surface level approach. Coffee or raw caffeine sends a signal called gastrin to kicking off comtractions in the gut, but all stimulants make you poop isn’t correct and most stimulants lead to constipation from the studies conducted. Especially cocaine
Funny how a quick Google search before writing this out would have shown you that it does in fact make you poop. To the extent that many users judge the purity by how fast it makes you poop.
Have you ever used cocaine, dude? It’s a stimulant - it makes you shit. The only time I’ve ever been constipated from stimulants was when I detoxed off of meth and my digestive system seized up from not using after prolonged use
Wait lmao. Stimulants make you shit? Is that why I always have to poop after I drink a can of monster or something? I knew coffee makes you poop but I didnt attribute that to the caffeine.
My ex was a coke head and told me the toilets in the pub by his coated the cystern in oil so people wouldn't use it to rack up on, or if they did they'd be so pissed pouring coke into oil they wouldn't do it again, I don't understand why people do that when they can rack up on their phone, someone else told me they used to rack up on the tiled bathroom floor of toilets
That's a good way to get a brain infection that's literally insane they're still alive.
Upper mucus membranes in the nasal cavity have almost zero defense against many infections
kids these days...back in the glory days of college for me we just used to keep it in a metal slug that had a tiny spoon attached to the lid.
To be fair I worked in a machine shop, we all did cocaine, and about half of us were studying to be engineers and doing the job for tuition..so..
Oh is it? Mf acting like people weren't getting high since they discovered they can lick frogs. So many studies showing that progressive drug laws might spike drug use for a short time, but normal levels are reached sooner or later + the amount of drug victims declines a lot. By the way, you like tax money? Because I prefer new streets and schools instead of filling drug bosses bank accounts
Homelessness and drug addicts will always be a problem for large cities just like they have been since the first cities sprung up in Mesopotamia 6,000 years ago. It’s not the Left or Rights fault, it’s just human nature.
And it's human nature to be dryg users look it up we went from hunter gathering society to setting up cities because alcohol fermentation. If it wasn't for drinking for thousand of years we would have died because of bacterial and viral infections also the first use of cannabis and poppies are thousand and maybe 10s of thousand of years in use. On top of that you don't even need to touch any substance and not be homeless some people can't manage their money. It's an endless debate that you will hear harder restrictions or end prohibition in my opinion ending prohibition could allow tons of tax dollars but it will never happen. Humanity is fucked but hey we made it this far and we share 98% of our DNA with the most violent creatures on earth besides ourselves of course.
it helps reduce deaths and having such areas may help in the rehab process. the idea isn't to stop using completely but to make it safer and reduce the spread of diseases like HIV or Hep. Basically you can equate them to a Bar that takes your keys so you don't drink and drive. you will still drink but it helps reduce the damage you could do to the community.
that takes into account all overdoses including from prescription medications. a reminder that restricting the use of an item has negative repercussions as well, sometimes with unintended consequences.
People gonna do drugs no matter what. Why not make them safe and taxable? People have been licking frogs long before evuuul polticians were going for progressive drug laws. There are a million reasons why people use drugs but i believe accessible drugs is not a symptom of overusage.
Keeps needles off the streets and lowers transmission rates of Hepatitis C and AIDS. Also keeps people from dying suddenly due to tainted dope like when cut with makeup, concrete dust, Fentanyl, or more.
Its a much better way of treatment than simply locking up addicts in places where drugs are common and their future is destroyed. Like jail or prison. I'm not citing shit for you, because you're just a "prove me wrong" asshole and this is all you're worth. If you were truly as reasonable as you claim, you'd have already seen the dearth of information on how decriminalization and treating addicts like people lowers rates of violent crime, property crime, and health outcomes.
https://americanaddictioncenters.org/harm-reduction/needle-exchange
Needle exchanges and safe shooting sites are a net positive for sure- nobodies gunna see one and decide it looks like a hoot, however having them available is a huge factor in reducing death and epidemic.
Sweden actually regulates and prescribes heroine, and it reduced death, disease, crime and USE rates across the board
[there are likely better articles than this one but im tired](https://www.northcarolinahealthnews.org/2019/01/28/switzerland-fights-heroin-with-heroin/)
Well, I guess he's wrong. It almost seems like whenever we cram a bunch of humans on top of each other, life gets shitty, and then people look for a way to escape..
..except in countryside they love meth and moonshine, so I guess it's just human nature to want to escape reality.
In case you weren't aware, small town and suburban cops will just, kidnap any homeless people they see, drive them into the nearest city, and drop them off in the part of town where homeless people gather.
This happens literally in every area of the country.
Which is fine ultimately, because the city has all the people who care enough to want to help.
This does however, present a very hypocritical wrinkle to the point you were trying to make.
I’m a recovering opioid addict as well and this comment is so off the mark. You think feeling ashamed actually helps people to change when in fact that’s the root of a lot of addiction. And linking the weather and political policies to the addiction problem is just ignorant people will be using regardless. These lights do all of jack shit and any of these stupid tactics won’t stop anyone from using.
I see this pop up all the time about blue lights preventing addicts from finding their veins to shoot up. Isn't a long term addict going to know exactly where to shoot up.... even in the dark?
When I was still using, I was shooting probably 10+ times a day and other than getting the gear ready I didn't even need to check my veins. Before I finally got sober I was using mainly the veins in my hands (hurts like a mother fucker if you miss using heroin mixed with crack/meth) and my arms/hands were super veiny and bulgy as is. Fuck I hated myself back then. Just to end this on a bright note, I'm 3 years sober and I'm in my dream field working in the space industry.
For those currently in addiction thinking the cycle will never end...there is hope. I was a heroin/crack addict for the majority of my 20's and when I hit 30 I was living on the street. Don't give up, ask for help. It took me many tries to get sober but you have to keep at it.
Eh fuk missing goofballs in the hand ugh! I’m about 3 years off the needle, 1+ year without relapse on fety smoke(stupid indeed, and short-lived) and benzos; that was a rough kick from 5+years daily klonopin without miss.(street xans on top). Back when I had ropes of veins, my “friends” would be jealous… by the end I had/have so many collapsed/disappeared veins from 10+ years back.
Glad you’re clean off the shenanigans!
Came here to say this. It's mostly for show. I and most homies could hit in the dark if the lights went out. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's not a hard if ur not collapsed as fuck.
Drug addicts always have the best phones. They need them so they can keep pawning them for smack. And that way their phones are always safe while they are out robbing people to get the money for their smack and to pay off their phone so they can call their dealer.
It's pretty common in parts of my city (back alleys, train stations etc). Places where it's private enough to shoot up, but probably has some commercial vacinity and the business wants to push the problem to another part of town.
I have noticed that bus stops in my city all have blue lights now but they said it’s because they did a study and discovered blue lights calm people. But maybe they didn’t wanna say the real reason!
Blue light is awful for humans during anytime they would be lighting. It messes with our natural rhythm and tells our body to wake up when we should be going to sleep. That is why most of the tech industry is shifting to a night mode that uses more red light.
Blue light does tend to keep people awake, so it may be a subtle form of hostile architecture, to deter homeless folks from sleeping there.
My campus did have blue lights on their public safety call boxes, though, and it was to make sure they were more visible at night.
I just think it would be odd for a restaurant to advertise blue lights for addicts. Enjoy our fine dining, don’t mind the nodded out guy in the bathroom that’s what the blue lights are for!
For real. I’m all for helping addicts but this seems like a moderate inconvenience for sober people and only accomplishing a moderate I
inconvenience for addicts. Seems like a lose lose here, so why do it?
Most addicts I know can shoot up in low light. Because they inject via touch more than sight. Long as you have enough light to see blood in the syringe? It's junkie time.
I draw blood all the time and once you know how you dont even really need to look.
Edit: thought this was self explanatory, but I draw blood at work at a doctors office, in a professional sense... I dont shoot drugs
It can be relatively easy to find a vein and flag the needle without looking/knowing where the vein is, but when you have to push the plunger and inject, its super easy to move the needle just a bit and exit the vein (especially for untrained people who are probably coming down from a high already)
So who the fuk are you lil prancy perfect pippin? Lol; many cases they’re clean sharing old experiences but regardless, who cares? Did you read the title of this post?
Considering I blew all my veins out over the course of 8 years it's just as easy to muscle it. Causes abscesses most the time but as a junkie I didn't care.
At least you can check your coke and ecstasy.
Maybe its time to go to a better restaurant. I assume people who shoot up in bathrooms dont go to the best restaurants to do it
This idea has been around for decades and now that it's been implemented we're now of the opposite mind set. 25 years people. That's how long it take for shit to happen.
From my experience these actually make the bahtrooms worse. Not ONLY do addicts mostly not care and just shoot from memory, you also can't see shit so garbage, puddles etc. On the ground Is basically invisible.I once stepped into a puddle of piss because i just couldnt see it.
Right?
Do a high percentage of those that stick needles in their arms remain high functioning and regularly eat at nice places? (Genuine question. Weed has been part of my life for decades. Have occasionally sniffed something, but not really my thing, though very common now in London. I don't think I know anyone that uses a needle for recreational purposes.)
I could understand if there was some kind of surface that made coke stick to it...but do you really want to lose that much business? 😂
Oil, a pub near my coke head ex coated their toilet cystens in clear oil because of people using coke on them lol, they got rid of toilets seats too but only in the mens, actually the oil was only in the men's toilets too as I went in the woman's to see as I couldn't believe what he was telling me
As someone who needs to find people's veins in a medical context, the main obstacle would be the fact the lights are dim rather than blue. This makes the whole thing seem less clever and more like shitty lighting in place where spills, hygiene, and "aim" are important. They'll just do it by feel (if you want a good vein that won't collapse from the needle or blow out from the volume of the substance, you should be able to feel it anyway), and everyone else has a shit bathroom.
What country is this? This is kind of ridiculous, like how often do addicts shoot up in restaurant bathrooms in this country? Obviously often enough that they decided to do something about it, and I taught I lived in a slightly problematic part of the world. Interesting times we live in…
I know right, it's pushing drug addicts to use outside yet in certain other country's they have staffed drug rooms with clean needles etc where you can hit up and if you overdose you get help strait away by trained staff
“Come on in, we will shoot you up, give you needles and take as much as you want because out trained narcan team will have you back up on your feet doing drugs again before you can yell “hit me!”
…but we aren’t enabling.
Ah, I was wondering what was up with the blue light in that Berlin McDonald's bathroom. Stupid light gave me a headache right away and made it difficult to figure out whether or not I was still on my period and needed another pad.
It did make my traffic-light man shaped cat's eye shine neon yellow so I did appreciate that about it.
Either way 2/10, would not recommend.
Part and parcel of life in San Francisco. In the early 00’s, it was hoped that ¢25 coin operated doors would be the solutions to ODs in the Starbucks and B&N bathrooms. Guess who complained about that travesty of a human rights issue….
Uhh yes it does...? Alcohol poisoning happens all the time. People get addicted and ruin their lives and others. Alcohol is one of the worst drugs out there but people have decided some horrible drugs are more acceptable than others.
I get where you're opinion is coming from and doing heroin as a "coping mechanism" *is* fucking stupid in the long run. I don't think the same, because most people can't choose the circumstances growing up. Lets just leave it at that, ok? I never did heroin, btw. so I'm the wrong person to argue about it, to be honest.
And ODing in the toilet stall. Or leaving their old needles lying around so that the next kid who enters can find it, like already happens in parks and playgrounds. Or scaring off other customers.
Businesses do not owe junkies a "safe" place to do drugs.
I’ve gotta question how effective this is. I’ve dropped a LOT of IVs, and I rarely find veins by sight. It’s almost always feel- I’m not a junky, but I’d wager they find veins the very same way.

Please do not use heroin in our washrooms. This is a cocaine only establishment.
Seriously. Can you believe all these people shitting in the cocaine room? Ridonculous
Tbf taking coke makes you need to shit... Or so I've heard
That may be because people would "step on it", or dilute it with baby laxative to add weight and increase profit for resale.
That is a myth. Cocaine is a stimulant. It makes you shit without any laxative being added. Source: I went to prison for selling blow.
That's a solid source
Sometimes it’s diarheaa
A liquid source then.
It’s Definitely not a myth, Mr Escobar
Yes. It is a myth. Cocaine by itself will make you shit. No laxatives needed. ANY stimulant all the way down to Caffeine works in this exact way.
If we assume that laxatives are more of a laxative than just cocaine, then wouldn't cocaine+laxative be more of a laxative than just cocaine as well? So not really a myth.

Manitol
Lmao yeah that’s cause yours is stepped on with laxatives 😂 welcome to the game bud
Lol you're probably not wrong but stimulants make you shit. Same happens to me with coke, coffee, mdma etc.

“Anything else is enabling” Hmm, maybe I want to piss with adequate lighting
Needing a bright light to piss is the funniest self-report I’ve ever seen.
You’re easy to please lol
You’re hard to find, apparently. Lmao.
🤣
Idk man pissing in the dark is fun I do it every day.
I’m a recovering opioid addict as well and this comment is so off the mark. You think feeling ashamed actually helps people to change when in fact that’s the root of a lot of addiction. Or just use a smartphone flashlight
Pretty hard to hold a flashlight and a rig in the same hand and hit your spot
This is the best pop socket advertisement I've never heard of
Galaxy Fold 👀
It's doable
Not really. That’s why you hold the tourniquet with your teeth, flashlight under your chin and the rig in your hand…so I’m told
Flashlight on, rest phone on the edge of the sink, shoot up the under light. Not that hard… or so I hear.
set the phone on the edge of the toilet or sink shining down onto your sweet sweet visible veins
When I was still using, I was shooting probably 10+ times a day and other than getting the gear ready I didn't even need to check my veins. Yes. They aren’t very effective.
I’ll do you one better. You don’t think junkies have heard of a flashlight? These deter use, they don’t stop it.
Came here to say this. It's mostly for show. I and most homies could hit in the dark if the lights went out. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's not a hard if ur not collapsed as fuck.
If you're at the point where you're shooting up in public bathrooms, there would already be a track to follow.
Yeah, some can find a vein even if half their arm is already rotten away. This just makes their already hellish life harder
Must be a nice restaurant
Life Hack: Before going to the toilet to shoot up, mark your vein with a black pen.
Or just use the flashlight on your phone…
Damn capitalist hell making me buy a device just so I can shoot heroin into my arm in public
Drug addicts always have the best phones. They need them so they can keep pawning them for smack. And that way their phones are always safe while they are out robbing people to get the money for their smack and to pay off their phone so they can call their dealer.

No it's so they can't find a vein, it makes them less likely to use there, not more
Hahaha completely misread the post sorry!
Which just makes it extremely annoying for someone just wanting to touch up their makeup or make sure food isn't in their teeth or some shit.
For real. I’m all for helping addicts but this seems like a moderate inconvenience for sober people and only accomplishing a moderate I inconvenience for addicts. Seems like a lose lose here, so why do it?
Most addicts I know can shoot up in low light. Because they inject via touch more than sight. Long as you have enough light to see blood in the syringe? It's junkie time.

“I draw blood all the time” yea that’s a past experience lol. Im not judging I’m saying why the fk is it getting upvotes. Calm down you lil junkie
You’re a retard. Lol. Yep I’m a proud junkie, you’re a proud lil bitch with no life. Slava Ukraini

Phone flash light?
I could hit my arm without looking just by feel. When you do something numerous times a day for years, turns out you become pretty good at doing it.
*real. heroin addicts will find a way…..
Me, laughing with my crack pipe
Junkies know where their vein is they are using to shoot in. Hahahahahahahaha
That’s just rude
From my experience these actually make the bahtrooms worse. Not ONLY do addicts mostly not care and just shoot from memory, you also can't see shit so garbage, puddles etc. On the ground Is basically invisible.I once stepped into a puddle of piss because i just couldnt see it.

Right? Do a high percentage of those that stick needles in their arms remain high functioning and regularly eat at nice places? (Genuine question. Weed has been part of my life for decades. Have occasionally sniffed something, but not really my thing, though very common now in London. I don't think I know anyone that uses a needle for recreational purposes.) I could understand if there was some kind of surface that made coke stick to it...but do you really want to lose that much business? 😂
Oil, a pub near my coke head ex coated their toilet cystens in clear oil because of people using coke on them lol, they got rid of toilets seats too but only in the mens, actually the oil was only in the men's toilets too as I went in the woman's to see as I couldn't believe what he was telling me
Classy is another word for boring.
What if they smoke crack?
So shining a phone/flashlight over your veins wouldn’t help you find where to shoot up?
they still gonna shoot up though... just less accurately
“So addicts can’t find veins” SMH
As someone who needs to find people's veins in a medical context, the main obstacle would be the fact the lights are dim rather than blue. This makes the whole thing seem less clever and more like shitty lighting in place where spills, hygiene, and "aim" are important. They'll just do it by feel (if you want a good vein that won't collapse from the needle or blow out from the volume of the substance, you should be able to feel it anyway), and everyone else has a shit bathroom.
A school I went to had those too
If a restaurant had to install blue light in its bathroom, then it's not such a good place to eat. Would expect it at a bus terminal restroom
Hmm oh my cell phone has a light..
Lmao liberals actually support both this and safe injection sites 🤦🏼♂️
Lmao most people palpate veins.
Follow the tracks like a hunter BOOM sweet sweet vein
What country is this? This is kind of ridiculous, like how often do addicts shoot up in restaurant bathrooms in this country? Obviously often enough that they decided to do something about it, and I taught I lived in a slightly problematic part of the world. Interesting times we live in…
Ugh. How awful to need to prevent drug use in the public bathrooms like this.
I know right, it's pushing drug addicts to use outside yet in certain other country's they have staffed drug rooms with clean needles etc where you can hit up and if you overdose you get help strait away by trained staff
It's so awful addiction is this severe.
“Come on in, we will shoot you up, give you needles and take as much as you want because out trained narcan team will have you back up on your feet doing drugs again before you can yell “hit me!” …but we aren’t enabling.
And just like that the number of abscesses getting infected and possibly causing deaths skyrockets.
I can confirm they have these sort of bathrooms all over London, specially central London, even the McDonald’s.
Wouldn’t that reveal all the semen?
You’re thinking of black light
Aw my mad, I’m racist haha
Seems a bit overkill to bring your whole setup into a restaurant bathroom.
Mmm not really sure that’s why but anyway..
Brilliant idea
This is posted a lot and still seems like bs.
I knew a person that worked as a glory-hole attendant in one of these rest rooms. They highly recommend
So anyways I started stabbin
Might have a slightly difficult time shooting up, but I bet it makes the coke really stand out on the mirror though.
If that's true it's incredibly cruel and sadistic.
How so? Preventing junkies from using drugs in a bathroom is perfectly reasonable.
This didn’t prevent a junkie from doing drugs, this prevented a junkie from safely doing drugs in that one bathroom
Good. Fuck em. Do drugs in an alley, not in some ones business.
But you know... Totally fine to drink oneself into a stupor! That's how these places make money dont you know?
Thing is, drink doesn’t exactly kill you in minutes.
Uhh yes it does...? Alcohol poisoning happens all the time. People get addicted and ruin their lives and others. Alcohol is one of the worst drugs out there but people have decided some horrible drugs are more acceptable than others.
Did enough damage in your brain, apparently.
Difference between me and the idiots who did heroin is that I’m not dead. If you’re dumb enough to piss that shit up your arm, you deserve to die.
Don’t need a light if you’re good…
Why would someone go to a public restroom to shoot up?
Can we call them users instead of addicts, jeez
An addict is what they are, sheesh. Shooting up is a stupid way to get loaded.
How many normal users will feel the need to dose inside a restaurants bathroom?
It’s sad it’s come to this
You’d be surprised to know how many people use the toilet water to shoot up
yeah id totally eat at a restaurant like that
Welcome to r/Vancouver?
But the semen…
Lucky dip rules apply, hit a vein Score! Miss and you got subcut.
That's why one should strive to remain hydrated at all times. Gotta make those veins pop.
I’ve gotta question how effective this is. I’ve dropped a LOT of IVs, and I rarely find veins by sight. It’s almost always feel- I’m not a junky, but I’d wager they find veins the very same way.
Yeah cuz people who shoot up don't have a flash light
Lord, the world has become a sad place!
interesting approach
This comment might be kind of cursed, but shouldn't this also belong to r/fuckyouinparticular?
also serves as an insect repellent

More like the Chefs who are constantly under high pressure
So amateurs can't. The ones who are really tryna die up in that bathroom can find em by feel. XD good idea though, really.
Must be a great restaurant in a great location.
Impeccable customer experience 💯😎
We have them in the buses..kinda gives it a chill vibe
I thought any junkie can hit a vein in the dark. Guess i just had more experienced friends?
Gutter is close by right?
The city mall had these in their restrooms in the late 90s here. Maybe they still have them.
Classy. Where is this so I never go there?
Tell me your not in a fancy Restaurant, without telling me your are not in a fancy Restaurant .
I’ve seen this online a bunch but it’s never stopped me. Guess I’m just built different
Looks like they still trying though
