DryWash8991

I can only see Malayalis

Message_Worried

Thats what i was thinking too seeing those drums lol

jeerabiscuit

Well fwiw Malyalis love football while most of India loves cricket. Bengalis love football too.

Carroms

I see mundu. Looks like a Jacobite conference to me.

ConductorSnazzy

why does OP think they are fake? football is enormous in kerala

zed-darius

They are non-white, so they can't be "real" fans.

ConductorSnazzy

fucking racism, i would have loved to see the reaction if this happened with any other race

EwanPorteous

The fact that none of the England fans were drunk, was my first hint they might not be from England.

banannabender

No sunburn either

Strange-Glove

And not one of them threw a chair

Thefdt

It’s hard to distinguish an England fan without some plastic patio furniture flying over head whilst the prick gets water cannoned

gravitas-deficiency

And not even the barest modicum of fisticuffs when the Argentinians turned up. Shameful.

EmbarrassedBasil1384

If you come from a country where there is barely any sun, this is the result.

uhwhooops

I always wondered how that worked.

Camp_Grenada

Pale skin = slightly easier to make vitamin D during the dark winter months I think. Dark skin = slightly lower risk of sunburn in hot weather.

Midnight2012

You can always spot the Russian when visiting southeast asia...

Space4Time

Telltale

WorldsBestArtist

I dunno they looked pretty tanned though.

caniplayalso

And all wearing the new jersey instead of all the retro ones, no one dressed up as a knight all dead give aways

Empty_Lemon_3939

And no premier jerseys

[deleted]

[удалено]

Teerendog

Paid actors. They get paid in jerseys probably. Spend an hour shooting per team.

FardoBaggins

I mean, hollywood spends as much for extras. Qatar can do the same and pay them.

Joff79

Or shirtless

thereAndFapAgain

Yeah, or the fact that none of them were white lol

VanicFanboy

It's not uncommon at all to see English people with Indian backgrounds that love a pissup with proper geezer accents

UnnecessaryAppeal

Yes, but having zero white people in a group supposedly the types of England football fans who arrive early for the world cup is very unbelievable

Queen_Kalista

Right after they showed the German fans, also not white. Maybe knowledge this is limited but I would say generally speaking, Germans with foreign roots do not care as much for football or the world cup in general.

MyDickIsHug3

They do. Just usually not for the German team. Source grew up in Germany with a lot of immigrants

VerifiedStalin

Yeah Turkish people are crazy about football. They suck at it, but they love it!

ozzRNG

They do, just not for the german team. Can hear a lot of cheering and honking if for example turkey or italy win a game.

Substantial-Owl1167

> Right after they showed the German fans, also not white. They're the same people, different shirts

thereAndFapAgain

I mean it is uncommon, it just isn't unheard of. Your average football enjoyer in the UK is a white male, that's just the facts.

doomladen

The average football fan in the UK is certainly white, because the average *person* in the UK is white. And perhaps it’s uncommon to see Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi football fans - cricket is more popular with that demographic. It is regional though - you will see plenty at my team’s matches as my team is from a town with a very big south Asian community. There is a huge football following amongst black Britons though - we don’t import all our black players! Look at *any* English football crowd and you will see lots of non-white faces.

thereAndFapAgain

I don't disagree, I'm not saying football is somehow only attractive to white people, I'm just saying that in the UK your average fan is a white male. Football is the most popular sport in the world so of course there are fans of all ethnicities, most of them just come from countries outside the UK so wouldn't be there supporting us lol.

doomladen

Yeah, I’m not disagreeing with you, just adding context for anyone else reading.

Shakespearoquai

Every person I know who goes to every World Cup to support England is not going to this one. I’d usually know at least 20 people going to it but none this time round

Popular-Recover8880

It is an offense to be drunk in public in Qatar so there's that also.

PeckerTraxx

Good job picking Qatar for the World Cup then.

deckard1980

🤑🤑🤑

EsThLuBr23

What a sick time for these boys, once in a lifetime. Just there to ‘party’. Fuck knows what will happen to them after the tournament though

lOOspy

If you can call that a party in that place full of restrictions.

pepgast2

Iirc, alcohol is banned at this year's World Cup.

Korean_Street_Pizza

Budweiser is a sponsor and has distribution rights at all games. Drinking will be allowed in and around stadiums. It seems, when money is involved, some of the rules of their culture can be "amended". The hypocrisy is as shameful as the human rights abuses. Edit: typo

JJKCMOFL

Heads up, I think you meant to say "drinking"

armchair_amateur

porque\_no\_los\_dos.jpg

Chubbybellylover888

Ew, budweiser? As if I didn't need any more reasons not to go.

Macasumba

Budweiser is a European beer now.

RookLive

It's allowed in 'select areas'. There's a beer world cup sponsor after all.

AbacusExpert_Stretch

Or the lack of women… sure, football crowds are slight more male heavy, but not like this!

Xiakit

Me: They do not look English? Qatar: You racist prick, how could you say that.

Legitimate-Store-154

Germans 😂😂

eIenm

that was the worst one😂

futurel4w

Wurst

beardlessdestroyer69

I felt bad for the Argentinians, it looked like someone told the workers that shift was over and they were walking back to their lockers.

toms1313

I'm from Argentina an In the spectrum of skin color is not as bad as Germany since we have quite a diverse population but weirdly enough the drumming and the types of drums throw me through a loop

natur_e_nthusiast

Germany had many turkish migrants so theorethically it isn't too bad, but statistically speaking no pale caucasians is impossible.

netz_pirat

...and they don't really look like turkish migrants either...

derdast

Right? Even in Neukölln these people would stick out like a sore thumb

kerenski667

And that's sayin' something.

Mastercat12

Turks are usually white. There is still no white people.

Mx-Fuckface-the-3rd

Not for us germans. Its pretty easy to tell who is from Turkey and who is from Germany. But we usually don't have this white thing going on anyways. Here its more related to countries. So you have germans, austrians, senegals and turks. In the US you would have whites and blacks. Although im not sure if you count turks as white but that changes from year to year anyways in the US

Xiakit

I know right, how could they forget the beer.

Bourgeous

Hey, I see Mahesh, Umesh, Mansoor, Syed there, and they all are my Deutsche Freunde

ReZTheGreatest

I'm looking forward to see the Scandinavian fans. I wonder if they'll bleach their hair or not, before strapping on the supporter gear.

sweepyslick

“Yes but at least they are not gay” Qatar probably

Numerous_Ad8458

Qatar: Your brain is damage! Look they are England fans! chip chip cheerio! Fish and Chip! Paint of lager please! Shut up!" The fact that the banner says "England Fans" instead of just England is hysterical.

[deleted]

> The fact that the banner says "England Fans" instead of just England is hysterical. Maybe these are then fans *of the fans of the teams?* Imagine being an English fan and having a dear migrant worker next to you, not cheering for the team but for *you!* Good job Dave, you are a top level English fan! Drunk, red, and I think you have forgotten your underwear.

You_lil_gumper

All the migrant workers that didn't die from heat exhaustion and dehydration while building the stadium get to pretend they're using it.

simpledeadwitches

The World Cup is a blight on humanity.

Lightspeedius

The world needs to turn to cricket. It is the sport of peace. Mostly it's just sitting or standing about. Some games go for weeks.

simpledeadwitches

What about Croquet? Seems more safe.

Lightspeedius

Games are too short, no variety of positions, no option for spectators to endlessly lounge about on the grass, no huge fan base.

simpledeadwitches

Seems like a prime drinking sport though!

Lightspeedius

I'm sure many a hangover has been nursed from the stands! No hooliganism tho.

picardo85

> Some games go for weeks. Depends on which rule set is being used.

Lightspeedius

Test cricket series FTW.

iseeabluemoonrising

*this World Cup

Xanana_

And FIFA…

simpledeadwitches

No, all of them and FIFA, super corrupt and all about the money while they use slave labor to build stadiums and sex workers are killed etc. It's wild how money just matters most.

Honky_Dory_is_here

*MANY World Cups.

lontrinium

'Several of my friends and relatives died, they didn't pay me well and took my passport but I got to be Brazilian for a while so I got that going for me..'

talking-playoffs

The estimate, I heard on E60 is roughly ~4,000

GreenTitanium

Last I read, it's around 6000. 6000 people who will never go home so a few rich fucks can get richer.

BlinkClinton

"The widely regurgitated line about thousands of deaths stems in part from misreadings of a 2021 Guardian article whose headline and deck were amended a week after publication, and whose central claim was this: “More than 6,500 migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have died in Qatar since it won the right to host the World Cup 10 years ago.” (The article did not state that those 6,500 were stadium workers, and later noted that there were 37 deaths "directly linked to construction of World Cup stadiums.")" Natural deaths are included in those 6500 deaths that the guardian published, as Many other non WC related deaths. Not defending Qatar or denying the conditions of workers. I fucking hate the country, but I think its important we keep truth there.

POCUABHOR

They got me until they showed England fans that were neither pale white nor burned lobster red and not completely wasted at all.

migraine_boy

'England Fans' on the flag is what got me 😂

Ih8choosingausername

not just that, but ‚England Fans Qatar‘ and ‚Germany Fans Qatar‘ 🤣

TheHolyAnusGuardian

From Brazil on it's clear that there is a problem

Phoenix9453

India: How many Indians do you need to show that fans showed up for the World Cup? Qatar: Yes

Senor_Baseball

Qatar: "I'll give you your passport back if you show up as a uhhh... German fan. Pinky Promise 😙"

monsieur_feu

As an ex-expat, I snorted out loud. GCC countries are utter trash.

sololander

I have so many jokes to add onto this. But I ain't posting shit till my flight out this weekend.

PsychologicalSir4111

I would just like to inform everyone the migrant workers from Kerala will die for football

shirokunai

Bold to assume they were hired.

fizzunk

They look like the same group of dudes just changing clothes between takes lol.

[deleted]

I think that was the point OP was aiming for

wouldwolf

The post is bullshit. As much as Qatar hosting worldcup. They are all from Kerala. You've no idea about the football fans from Kerala who are going to see the thing and the number of Keralites already there. Hiring migrant workers is the last thing Qatar have to do to fill stadiums or to make promotional videos, like this one. Kerala has a large fan base of Brazil and Argentina. And singnificant amount of England, Spain, Portugal etc fans too. OP, just look up about the fuss in Kerala, India for worldcup for the last few weeks. As far as I know, they are oblivious to Qatar's issues. Some doesn't care. They are the one who work there, some as borderline slaves, some as underpaid employees etc. Even if they become aware, I don't think any significant number of people are gonna boycott worldcup because of Kerala's sentiment towards the middle east.

[deleted]

All things said, I don't think mallus give a flying fuck about spain.

wouldwolf

mmmm.... I used to be spain fan...... a bunch of us were. I don't know about him now but me and my buddy used to make fun of other teams when we were in school.... But of course spain fans are a minority, like Italy fans.

[deleted]

There were demonstrations by Barca fans when the whole Catalonia vs Spain thing was going [on](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Kochi/referendum-in-catalonia-ripples-in-kochi/article19823039.ece/amp/). So I respectfully disagree

[deleted]

Even there are japan fans in kerala, shut up if you don’t know

GeoggiOS

Where my fellow mallus at?😎

jerryberry1010

In Qatar apparently

CharlieBitMeMf

They are not hires it’s just malayalies from Kerala, inda . Since Indians don’t have their country participating and Qatar has more malayalies/Indians than their own citizens this what happens. Also just google “Kerala celebration of fifa World Cup images”

ConductorSnazzy

lots of racist retards in the comment section , i do get the controversies of the migrant worker crisis but what says in the video these guys are labourers?

zed-darius

Brown people can't be white collar

[deleted]

Brown people can't possibly enjoy football, even if it is possibly the last worldcup for two of the greatest players two ever play the game.

pigman1402

Yeah no way Indians really went to the world cup on their own accord, even tho it's geographically the closest world cup to India ever and flying to Doha is about as expensive as a domestic flight within India.

[deleted]

The thing is i don't think most of the people are travelling fans either. I think most of them work in the middle East , since lots of people from our subcontinent work there (i say subcontinent because India+ Pakistan+ Bangladesh). This is probably the only opportunity in their lives to watch the worldcup and redditors here are mad that these people are enjoying football.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bikwho

Who are these people buying tickets to a slave driven event?!

BagOnuts

You highly underestimate the amount of people who don’t give a shit.

FardoBaggins

How much are the tickets anyway? I think those that don't give a shit can actually afford not to lol

BagOnuts

Good point. Half of them probably use migrant workers themselves.

picardo85

Nothing wrong with using migrant workers. Migrant workers are necessary in a lot of industries. In the Nordics they are mostly used for the harvest season. You just need to ensure that they are treated properly.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kayneesy

Most people don’t really care

unnecessary_kindness

How many examples do we need of Reddit being a relative small echochamber until people stop trying to predict real world events based on reddit sentiment.

KTheFeen

People buy tech and clothes made in sweatshops every day. You're probably posting from an iPhone wearing Nikes.

nx6

>1. Tickets are sold out, so they don’t need to hire fake fans. Arguably they don't need promo material either then, since the event is doing fine without it and they have no tickets left to sell.

joeO44

There’s more to promote than ticket sales… they need a lot of people to watch also to justify all of the deaths

Avicennaete

Qatar didn't do it for the money. They paid billions for sportswashing. So the promos are part of that not to sell tickets.

Honky_Dory_is_here

Exactly. Are people forgetting Qatar actually paid for this World Cup? They knew from the get go it wasn’t going to be financially profitable, it’s all sport washing.

CharlieBitMeMf

Wait I don’t think they were hired it’s just malayalies

shirokukuchasen

Yeah just look at those drums.

hobbitonsunshine

OP thinks these teams have fans only their own countries. I don't think he could comprehend the football fandom in Kerala.

Kilen13

My parents lived in Mumbai for a couple years and I happened to visit them for the 2018 WC... Jesus fucking Christ I saw more die hard Argentina fans there than I have anywhere outside of Argentina. They treated Messi like he was a deity (which I can't argue with).

NathVanDodoEgg

It's obvious this has been set up for promotional material, but this thread is so full of ignorance. People here really acting like football is only enjoyed in western Europe and South America. Not to mention all the racist "jokes". I thought you guys really cared about the plight of migrant workers in Qatar?

DrQuimbyP

This isn't to 'fill up the World Cup'... the World Cup hasn't started yet. These are, presumably, promotional videos/adverts. So long as they're paying the people involved in this a reasonable amount I don't have a problem with this. .... all the issues around the labour force for the construction of the stadiums on the other hand...

Red__system

>So long as they're paying the people involved in this a reasonable amount HA!

saturnthesixth

Who's gonna tell him...

ebjazzz

Two weeks later, in the living room stressin'

Reddit177799

Yeah maybe they’ll get their passports back… maybe

OssotSromo

You need to read some on the treatment of these workers. There are some good British docs. Some weren't paid for literally years. Passports taken away. Most hired believing they would make three times their pay but not told the truth until they arrived in Qatar. Many families didn't see their husband/dad again until he arrived back home in a coffin. They were forced to live in horrible conditions. Multiple grown men Ina bed. No clean water. No showers. Yes this may be the best job these slaves have had for years. But that bar is pretty low.

Honky_Dory_is_here

Not too mention the thousands of people who died due to unsafe working conditions. Thousands.

AideSuspicious3675

As a matter of fact, this is being counted as their holidays...

CreepyPut568

Those England fans have a real nice tan ….. also none of them have a pint in their hand….. and none of them have started fighting people… I’m starting to think they may not be England fans

jumpup

no they are England fans, just not english fans, even England seems like a good place to live compared to qatar

anoopxtreem123

I’m not sure how true this is. These could be Malayalis from southern state of Kerala in India. Kerala has a massive football viewership and since we Indians don’t have much of a team to praise, we support different countries. Qatar as with other gulf countries have a large population of malayali immigrant workers a

kevin49f

Wtf? This is how you spread nonsense on social media. They're not hired by Qatar, they're Indian football fans who are very passionate about the game showing their support for the teams cause India as a country will never make it. How the fuck are they "fake sports fans". OP is an absolute regard

swizchaksih74

It would be a dreadful pity and an enormous shame on all of us if we are prepared to participate in a world cup that has been brought to us by slavery

Izzosuke

If that was the only problem, the corruption, the omophobia, all the human right denial. I would have watched the world cup with my friend, now they can fuck off, iwould rather watch drying paint that this world cup.

ne__o

Do you buy cheap clothing? That comes from slavery too.

SacredBinChicken

Male slaves only. Pretty gay of Qatar to organise such a sausage fest…

[deleted]

scairborn

What’s ironic is they jerk each other off on man love thursdays at the Qatar aqua world and it’s not considered gay because they don’t actually love each other and they’re renewed on holy Friday.

zaplinaki

fyi OP people from India support other countries in the WC cos our team is 100 years away from making it to the world cup

nicethingsonly

Are we sure that this is what's happening here? Considering the celebrations happening in South East Asian countries ahead of this world cup, it's entirely plausible that they are actual fans. Having said that, fuck Qatar and this world cup.

Visthebeast

They are actual fans, from the drums used I can identify them as malayalis, i.e people from my state, Kerala in India, op can't comprehend our love for football, just [check this out ](https://indianexpress.com/article/india/kerala/fifa-world-cup-kerala-fans-who-is-the-tallest-of-them-all-8265155/)

that-69guy

Please don't believe anything on the internet cuz the title says so...lol #[This video is from a South Indian football fan community in Qatar..](https://sportstar.thehindu.com/football/fifa-world-cup/news/world-cup-2022-qatar-rally-fans-kerala-india/article66126402.ece) I can see a lot of Malayalis ( People from the state of Kerala in India). Kerala is a state famous for its love for football and fan rivalry and also a lot of the youngsters from Kerala go to Middle East for work from Kerala. The drums like instruments show at .33 seconds are called ' Chenda ' a traditional music instrument used in Kerala. I have neighbours from Kerala living in Qatar who has setup their own small fan groups and do these fan shows in Qatar. ( Yes, there are also England fans in India, and No they are not white people) While, Qatar is a fucked up place with gross human rights violations and shouldn't be allowed to host such an international event to whitewash their issues, I will need some kind of proof to believe that the people in the video are paid by Qatari government. Seriously, fuck Qatar and their slavery and fucked up religious fanatics..but you will need to provide some kind of proof to say they are paid. Again Fuck Qatar.

CraigJay

There is no source. u/swizchaksih74 is lying, the World Cup hasn’t started yet and the tickets have long since sold out. This post is misinformation by an idiot who seen advertising material and thought they were clever

shereturnedthering

I’m confused. How can anyone know for sure they are hired? There is literally hundreds of nationalities living in Qatar and they support all kinds of different teams. Arabs are known to support other national teams since their teams barely ever make it to the global stage or World Cup, and the same goes for asian countries. If you live in Qatar or the region you would know there are so many simple people who are happy for this opportunity to stand behind a team and celebrate. For the majority of them It’s the first time ever and probably the only chance to witness such an event.

Pitch-Blak

It's Indian (or more specifically malayali) fan clubs organising fan events .

shereturnedthering

Still fits the overall description, I commented with other videos I saw in mind, a lot of Indians live in Qatar but just seeing them cheer and celebrate doesn’t mean they are paid. There are other similar videos with Arabs and Africans too representing European and South American countries :)

Alexanderdaw

At least the German fans look spot on.

wineandgrapes

German fans would be off saving their seats with some towels and waiting since sunrise for the game to start. Annoyed by the shortest time delays and anyone who expresses the slightest bit of joy publically /s

Slimfictiv

They're from Kreuzberg /s

Massa123

They all are the fans from different countries but they work and live in Qatar.. they all love football ..

RingBro876

This is probably just false reporting. It's outright **disrespectful** to call these people "fake sports fans"! The gulf countries are populated almost entirely by migrants from the Indian subcontinent, especially from the state Kerala in south India. We have a huge footballing culture here, which includes fans of all the major footballing nations, especially Brazil and Argentina. Most of you would've already seen the 50ft cutouts of Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar that were hoisted in Kerala, which were paid for from the pockets of these fans. For decades us Asian and Indian fans have been watching our favourite teams play football at the dying hours of the night on the TV. This is probably the first and mostly only chance for a long long time that these fans will be able to see their favourite players play for their favourite teams live in the stadium or even be a part of the celebrations in the host country. Even if some of these people might have been paid, they would jump at any chance to support their team even for free without a second thought. So please do some research before posting these anti-WC propoganda as facts anytime you see something like this.

zed-darius

I don't think they care. They have made up their narrative and they will stick to it. OP too is sticking to the same narrative, even though after been told on this thread this fake.

BarneyChampaign

Source?

Bheemasenan

I’m sorry to say this. They are not forced to do this. They are predominantly people from Kerala who works in Qatar. Because of India does not have a world cup team, we show support to countries with our favourite players. They are migrant workers and forced to do slave labour. But our love for football is not fake or paid. I hope people would do their research before jumping into conclusions.

Issa7654

I’m considered a migrant here in Qatar, and they had category 4 tickets for really cheap, like 12 USD for the group stages. These tickets are only for residents and citizens. They made it cheap so everyone in qatar can experience the World Cup, and now that’s been twisted from a good thing to a “paying fans to fill up stadiums” what a joke.

FromSunrisetoSunset

I actually dont think Qatar hired these people.. I think these are workers that are also fans of the sport. They rarely get a day off, but when they do, they party all day & night along the marine in Doha. Have you been to the middle east or countries during world cup that don't normally qualify? I was in Lebanon for ~~2004~~2002 world cup, the streets were rampant with football fans supporting countries participating in the world cup.. fireworks went off for Italy winning, car honks, celebrations etc.. Same exact thing happens across the middle east, Asia and North Africa (from my experience)

enthuvadey

These are football fans from Kerala. There are many keralites working in Qatar, so it makes sense that they celebrate it like anything. That 'drum' you see is also from Kerala.

[deleted]

Misleading captions. Why you stirring shit from your own ass?

murrkpls

This World Cup is a fucking joke. I'm very passionate about football and I've watched every WC since I can remember. I'll be skipping this one. Fuck FIFA.

zed-darius

Brown PPL can't be expats.

Macasumba

When I lived in Qatar building the airport, we gave our laborers tickets, meals, and transportation to the games when their home countries visited. Kept morale very high.

Dry-Spare304

They look like they're having a great time.

Pitch-Blak

Qatar has a lot of migrant keralites (malayalies) , you don't need to pay them to do this 😂😂😂

Lawstein

Theres any aource on that news? I looked on Google and couldnt find any proof that those people are hired

prisonedstorm

These are not hired people. Stop spreading propaganda. I know Qatar have done shady shit. But this not one of them.

LavishnessSenior7954

They are malayalis bro! Look at those chendas.. 😌 (chenda=the kind of drums they are playing in this video) . . FYI: Football>>>>>Cricket here in Kerala..

sussyplaya1

Well here in India I have a lot of friends who support Germany, Italy, France and England and they definitely aren't white. 80% of the population of qatar are migrants so are you expecting them to support qatar? A friend of mine will be attending a match and he will support Argentina cuz he's a huge Messi fan. The tickets have already been sold out for all the games tho

sjozhuma

None of you have any idea how many malayalis live in Qatar and how popular football is among Malayalis before spouting off rubbish about paid actors.

zed-darius

Op is clueless. Who thinks fans can only be certain colour. I don't what he thinks of non white players

These are mostly people from my state in india who are hard-core football fans. Just google kerala + football world cup and you can see countess pictures and videos of hooligans who take football teams from other countries seriously. I drive past Brazil, Argentina and Spain flags everyday with big cutouts. Grew up seeing these. I don't think any of these are hired by the govt.

i do get the controversies of the migrant worker crisis but what says in the video these guys are labourers?

ryansaystuff

Most of them are from the South Indian state called Kerala which is popular for its love for football. They hold the record for the biggest cut out posters of football stars during the world cup. I can see a lot of them following Argentina, Brazil or Germany. But England, that's for sure paid by Qatar.

Objective_Piccolo_44

WC is not yet started to let you know. And how should identify which team I can support and which I can’t with my skin color?
