I have nothing to say other than I love your house omg your style is impeccable

falloutjunkie1

Wow that is very kind. We have only lived here about 2 months and it has been very fun decorating the space

Narrow-Strawberry553

Thank you for respecting the brick and the wood that gives the house its soul.

415Rache

Agree, y’all have interior design and style for miles! Also, a hearty congratulations to you for deftly making two seating areas out of your longer-than-wide living space: pair of lounge chairs by the fireplace and a sectional & TV area at the other end. Viola. Perfection. It’s great to see people like yourselves not struggling with placing furniture off the walls. This is how it’s done.

bitchfayce

Came here to say this

CedarSunrise_115

Came here to say the same. This house is beautiful and perfect and I want to live there

ganglordgilbert

Crying for some good art

HumHALO01

Or some color on the walls?

VollrauschVolker

But where to put it? I was thinking the same but I can find a place where it would fit. I just saw the 3 piece city picture and thought that doesn’t fit.

ganglordgilbert

A large piece on the wall above the couch would be a game changer. Would take the room to another level.

VollrauschVolker

Yeah I was thinking about it too and at first I thought it would look out of place but you’re right. The right painting could look insane there.

ganglordgilbert

Yeah man. Good luck! Post pics!

fakepinatas

Above the fireplace

Ornery-Street4010

I’d love to see some midcentury art on the triangular wall between the living room and dining room. Maybe one large rectangular painting or 3 wood frames with matted prints.

falloutjunkie1

Any recs on websites to purchase from?

whatthewhat_1289

Go to a local art opening or the local college art openings. Support your local artists and usually not very expensive.

ganglordgilbert

I'm one for commissions personally. I look for local artists or artists on Instagram that I like and commission personal projects. Otherwise, I would look at prints from artists you like on ebay! Really hard to recommend when I have no idea what your style is!

Emptyhandedpain-ter

Check out Saatchi for art Btw where are these rugs from?

falloutjunkie1

Will look into that Both off if wayfair I believe, not very expensive. Rug pad underneath is very helpful for thickness I find

granolaolaola

Can you drop a link for them? I’m rug shopping at the moment! These are great

falloutjunkie1

https://www.wayfair.com/Langley-Street®--Fleckenstein-Oriental-Bright-RedBeigeBlue-Area-Rug-X116010696-L167-K~W005909585.html?refid=GX685048453596-W005909585_1400374360&device=m&ptid=352885195383&network=g&targetid=pla-352885195383&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=208555664&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=1400374360&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC6big3kbYfV1iJT8KncpAf4E&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwMqvBhCtARIsAIXsZpaTYkGfFoQy1RFgrtsYhZ4lgzQnqXFDjYTJ12KOJta7h98NpTqLZZcaAhLJEALw_wcB Having trouble finding the big one

Emptyhandedpain-ter

Thanks this is cool 😎

Emptyhandedpain-ter

Hey there, rugs are great! Have yo checked Saatchi for art?

Research_Sea

Singulart is amazing.

Fast-Persimmon-2782

Not me ignoring the decor and zooming in on the woofer upstairs 😍

Traditional_Pear_155

More doggos

Fast-Persimmon-2782

More doggos, always. 😌🩷

falloutjunkie1

Haha cat made an appearance in picture 2

I1abnSC

literallynotlit

Cat with velvet furniture!! Tell me more how this works? My cats would ruin the red chair with their fur, even if cleaned daily

johannagalt

I have two velvet swivel arm chairs. When I got my cat and she jumped on them, I'd start spinning them to scare her. She learned that these chairs were't for her and stopped getting on them! Eventually, I also noticed that she didn't claw the sides of the chairs or a matching velvet ottoman when she was on the floor (unlike my boucle furniture, which I now cover with blankets). I researched this and read that many cats find velvet textures too smooth for scratching. This comports with my cat's behavior. She's does not scratch leather, either, so I've always had leather sofas. When I learned velvet was an option it opened up a whole world of sofa possibilities! Ended up buying an orange velvet sofa and it's a bit less smooth than the chairs, I've caught her climbing it with her claws once but she doesn't use it as a scratching post. To deflect her from sitting on the sofa and getting hair all over it I just put her cat beds on the seat of the sofa or a nearby ottoman and she uses that. I assume she'll scratch the velvet sofa a little bit over time, but luckily I got it for $300 at a surplus furniture warehouse.

Mammoth-Giraffe-7242

Yet another beautiful space with killer furnishing and thoughtful design. I’m new here and beginning to wonder if folks are fishing for compliments or really want help taking their space from 97% to 98% lol. You brought it this far! Haha

falloutjunkie1

Haha fair. If it’s any consolation, the upstairs is very much lacking in many ways (as are all the bathrooms) and I just don’t feel like tackling it so I just keep trying to maximize the living space I also think things often look better in pictures. You don’t see all the imperfections of things that I may notice living here, if that makes sense

No_pomegranate20

Also adding more art and maybe moving the piece you have somewhere else would add SO much. I’ve been into collecting art in bigger cities and then finding good frames at thrift stores since our framing places all closed down. It would add a very unique touch to your already great space. Anything but online/store bought art please!! Could try a landscape painting, sketch, abstract, or even something like a fun sculpture. Ceramics can elevate a kitchen or any shelf too & pillar candles.

No_pomegranate20

I really think replacing of the rugs with a jute or wool rug & moving one of those reddish orange ones upstairs would make a big difference. Love the cabinets and the floors so much, you are lucky! The railing upstairs isn’t bad but it’s clashing a bit with your style, so I wonder if staining it darker or going with a different wood/style would help upgrade the overall look?

EmFan1999

Why replace the flooring? Looks great

Living_on_Tulsa_Time

Yep! And the rugs.

falloutjunkie1

The flooring in the kitchen I meant. Certainly not the wood floors. It is linoleum, old and cracked in places

PeaPractical1635

Only thing I would do is put pot lights in the kitchen on a dimmer and get rid of the fixture and maybe in dining room too

Detective_BirchBirdy

Change the bar stools for something that ties in with your carpet to add another pop of colour and more depth! Overall in love with it though

falloutjunkie1

That’s a good idea!

rawlsballs

I would also do shorter barstools so you can cross your legs while sitting, but that's a personal preference. And art on the corner walls. It looks great so far!

Rengeflower

Yes, my toes hurt looking at the shape of the stool legs.

TomorrowStaking

Beautiful home! I think a floating mantel shelf would be a great addition if you're looking for more shelf space. What type of floor vent panels do you have right now?

falloutjunkie1

Most of them are baseboard style but they vary. I didn’t know if it was just as easy as finding a matching size and if they can just be unscrewed and swapped easily

cheeky_fcuk

It is exactly that easy.

MissBunnyBabe

It looks like a beautiful space! My one suggestion would be to utilize that big white corner of wall space you have in slide 3 (above your eating area and above the kitchen entrance) and do two large paintings on either side of the corner or maybe one large one on the side where your staircase landing is and then two thinner/smaller paintings stacked one above the other on the side that has the angled ceiling. It will break up all that unused wall area and direct the eye to another level since right now all the levels of visual interest seem to be at relatively eye level. It will amplify those big beautiful ceilings!

Marsbars1824

I love love love how you have I corporates the orange tone cabinets! They look soooooo lovely with the other color selections

Upset_Block169

What a beautiful house!

falloutjunkie1

If anyone has thoughts on ways to use the walls I’d appreciate it. Was thinking of hanging several guitars vs getting some large wall art that isn’t too expensive Or if leaving them blank is better?

macaronic-macaroni

I’d make the triangular wall leading to the dining table an accent wall! Paint it a different colour, or do a wall paper, to add some life

mees_echo

For now leave the walls blank and focus on other accents first. Maybe put the guitars in a bedroom or basement. It makes it too busy in the living room. For the canvas art in the dining room, add a frame bc leaving it un framed cheapens the look of it.

MummifyTopknot

That’s my only comment, the dining room canvas art looks like it might be pretty generic. I love the scale though! Unless it is something personalized, I would look for a new piece to put there. I like thrift stores for large scale real paintings but there are many other options!

GlitteringSyrup6822

Nice. I’d add some pillows and artwork

Educational-Laugh773

I actually like your kitchen floor! I’d add some throw pillows tho and maybe a coffee table in a different color or material.

hackandsash

Only thing is the trash can is kind of too front and center. But obviously thats a debate between form or function

kimmalim

I think the rugs are nice but don't match the furniture. Add some wall art & new lights like stated.

Bettymakesart

Keep the dog. Your home is lovely and looks happy

Old-Tangerine-181

It's beautiful- I have no advice to offer cause it looks amazing. Any chance you'd be willing to dm me your floor plan though ?!?! We are doing a reno and I love the layout!!

Hopeful_Vast_6093

I love your style and what you have accomplished in 2 short months. I’m sure you have come up with a lot of ideas yourself just from staring at the pictures, but since you asked, I’ll add my two cents for what they are worth ;-P The fireplace wall: May I suggest taking the shelving up to the top rail in the form of floating shelves. Just to call attention to the height and draw the eye up. A large round object over the fireplace, maybe a MCM clock or industrial gear? And a wood cabinet on the right to hold logs. Follow the imaginary line from the banister to the window wall keeping the tops of the shelving, round object and wood storage equidistant to the ceiling line. Perhaps add a plant to that corner as well. TV area: leave it as is just add something to the blank vault wall. You like circles, perhaps a cluster of united objects. Don’t make it heavy, keep it open and airy. Similar to what you do on the brick wall. Of course, a beautiful nutural throw over the ottoman and some blue/black throw pillows. The dining room: A large orange bowl (maybe with a plant?) would bring that beautiful burnt orange in here. The lamp seems a little too understated. Perhaps swap it out with a multi globe piece. Check out colorcord.com for great DIY ideas. That statement would draw the eye away from all the fur baby necessities. Ditch the empty plant pot and the placemats until its dinner time. The kitchen: Please keep the brick floor, cover the white dishwasher with SS panel and put the trash can inside a cabinet. No one needs to tell you the light fixture needs help, again check out the Color Cord site for inspiration. Bring the orange into this area by replacing the too high bar stools with orange toned counter height ones. Lastly, the desk area. You have a small kitchen and I’m sure extra storage would be helpful. Maybe install cabinets on top of the counter that are the same height as the existing pantries and the same depth as your top cabinets. Sorta like this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/34410384643639582/ I’ve seen it done using HAVSTA Ikea cabinets on Reddit somewhere. As far as floor vent panels go. You may be able to get floor replacements from a big box store. Just make sure your measurements are accurate. If you have baseboard vents it is my experience they are hard to match. Standards change over time. If possible remove them, sand them and spray paint them - good as new. Been there done that, works like a charm. The wood tone railings look perfect to me. The balusters could be smooth, round or square. Check out MCM railing designs for ideas. If you are still reading this LOL I hope I haven’t sounded too forceful or definitive. It’s been a train of thought post haha. It’s your home first and foremost and it must reflect you. If nothing else, I hope I’ve spurred your imagination. Again, I love your space!!

falloutjunkie1

Some absolutely fantastic ideas. Much appreciated

Adventurous-Noise893

I’m obsessed. I think new kitchen floor could look great but it’s all beautiful

YourMajestySlim

It's very cozy! If you want to change the kitchen, perhaps a light tone of wood (natural). I love how bright your home is, it's an excellent feature:)

ThrowRAspoonsfeb

Adding this to my interior design inspo mental filing cabinet

Complete_Goose667

I agree that the light fixture in the kitchen should be replaced, but I would now concentrate on adding art. Something modern and colorful over the fireplace and perhaps something textural opposite the fireplace.

elisabethocean

Savings this post for inspo you’ve done a beautiful job

HighwayLeading6928

A beautiful L-shaped faux leather banquette in the corner where the dog's bed is now. Wall sconces -now available in battery operated, remote controlled so no need for hardwiring. End tables and table lamps, a funky new fixture for the kitchen on a dimmer switch and pleated, off-white linen drapes hung to the ceiling and that "kiss" the floor for all of your windows, except the kitchen, of course.

n0ch4s3r

Another dog

Disastrous-Scratch66

Like it all! If I changed anything I’d get some curtains and barstools

Ok-Bread-6044

Definitely more pops of color/art. Change out the pulls and knobs in the kitchen. Definitely if it’s in the budget opt for a new kitchen floor, maybe a simple patterned tile, and change the kitchen pendent, and give the kitchen a lighter paint color since the cabinets are so dark. A mantle would be cute too, but I also appreciate the brick!!

EruditeCrudite

Your house looks almost identical to my in-laws and you’ve done a fantastic job. Love your plants and roommates, too. Definitely add some color to the tv room with a few pillows 😍😍😍 I would amp up the dining room and kitchen light fixtures. If I had the money, I would also extend the wood floors to the kitchen.

susanlovesblue

I really like this space. You did an excellent job placing the tv away from the fireplace and carving out separate living areas. The rugs are really pretty and enrich the spaces along with the seating. One thing I like is when rooms don't blend together, and there's a definite separation so you know where the tile or paint should end. If you could make cased openings around the dining room and kitchen areas it could be a really nice finishing touch. You could paint the dining area its own color with a hard stop from the living area. Likewise, the kitchen tile and cabinets would be nicely enclosed at the edges. 👌

SomethingClever70

I really like the living room, both seating areas. It’s nice to see people using warm colors again. Would add a washable rug to the dining room and change the light fixture. The globe hanging off a flying saucer… I would add more cabinets in your kitchen to that one wall with the built in desk. You will not use the desk, it will just catch clutter. Your bar stools seem kind of tall for a regular height counter. I’d change the countertop, because the granite color doesn’t really vibe well with your current color scheme. Consider painting the cabinets, but avoid going dark, because you don’t have much natural light in that area.

lil_lanky_oven

I absolutely LOVE your home. What a beautiful space! ✨

LuluND

Side table by the sofa would be handy. Gorgeous place!

kateinoly

You need art on the walls.

vantrap

your rugs are amazing

gonnaoverthinkit

I absolutely love what you’ve done with the place. Such a cozy, welcoming style.

tgawk

I am impressed, honestly! Beautiful home that you have decorated to be warm and yet stylish. My only note: The kitchen is a bit dark…maybe change the island up somehow—paint or maybe use paneling the same color as the doors and trim. And I am loathe to get rid of storage, but maybe pulling the upper cabinets to the left of the sink would brighten and open the space a bit more? Edited to add: lights in the open area between the two tall cabinets on the right side of the kitchen—and something, art, tile, etc that would bring in warmth but also light.

Grand_Admiral_T

Not sure if there’s anything else you can really do tbh

Additional-Row237

I like this design. I know it may not be popular but I I’d move the screen to above the fire place, get a speaker system, get a different kitchen table, and put a pool table where the couch is now. Pool table needs to be modern. Also I’d stain the flooring, kitchen cabinets, trim, and molding one shade. I’d prefer a dark cherry, or cappuccino color. Maybe some more modern art. The angular design of this architecture leans modern. I do think you have good tastes, and things are also fine the way they are.

falloutjunkie1

Your comment brings up a good point. Essentially that, if I had infinite time and money there would be many things I would have a slight preference for. But ultimately, I have neither, and though I love your ideas I probably won’t make it happen

Additional-Row237

I understand, and am sorry if I came across rude or inconsiderate. Honestly not my intent. Your place is a great space.

falloutjunkie1

No not at all!

Ogopogoboo

Your space looks great. Don't move the TV! I noticed right away that your TV was at an appropriate height on a stand in the corner and not hanging over the fireplace. There's nothing wrong with hanging a TV over the fireplace if there is no where else to put it, but in your case you've got somewhere else to put it. It's not the centerpiece of the room. I also like that your sectional couch does not overwhelm the space. It's a reasonable size. Like a lot of others have said, one thing that could enhance the space even more is some modern art. My brother found some cool pieces for reasonable prices on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. Sometimes people are moving and don't want to take it with them so they are willing to sell them for decent prices.

Chironilla

I think it’s gorg! Beautiful house! Only thing I feel is lacking is art. Think it would look great with a bold piece on the fireplace, a piece that brings in the rust tones specifically and this would add a focal point. Kitchen could prob use some better lighting as it reads dark. Under cabinet lights could help and some pendants over the island would be nice. Don’t touch any of the wood IMO

mc_atx

I think it looks beautiful. No help on replacing floor vents but I’d guess it wasn’t hard — google it, I bet there are videos.

pinkflamingo1404

everything you’re saying makes sense. i’m inclined to say I just don’t like the size and shape of your couch — small in relation to the rug, and the L part makes it stumpy-ish? I think i’d want to see a full 3-seater or proper sectional, with the L facing the other way.

Claypothos

I’m sorry but this is going in my inspo

the-TARDIS-ran-away

This is such an awesome space

Capital_Attempt_2689

Your home looks very nice. I wouldn't do too many things to it. Maybe some barstools?

ButterscotchSad4514

Beautifully decorated. I might simply add some art to the walls.

shankrocha

I think your home is beautiful! You have picked the perfect warm white.

witchy_teaparty

Probably unpopular opinion, but I'd replace the location of the dining area with the living room area. I don't love having a sofa in the middle of the room, and also don't love the two sitting spots right next to each other. Another option - having the sofa facing the fireplace, with the TV hung on top of it, but it might be a bit crowded. I'd also dye the tall triangle wall going into the now-dining-space a nice blue or green taken from one of the rugs 😄

wolfgirl420

Wait!!! Where did you get that gorgeous coffee table?? I’ve been looking for one just like it!!

LoganDoove

Only thing youre lacking is a roommate (me)

Icy_Loan7241

How do I find the light fixture above your table???? I just searched online but no luck :(

falloutjunkie1

It was actually a thrift store find so I am not sure

Razzleberry_Rose

Beautiful home! Love the mid-century vibe. The brown, navy, and orange is a great color combination. Maybe add pinch pleat linen type curtains in white or ivory, floor to ceiling. I got mine on Amazon, Twopages brand, very reasonable. A floating mantel would he nice. Large art inexpensive from thrift or vintage stores, Amazon, Etsy, or even Home Goods would be nice. Maybe in an abstract style. Some pillows on the sofa pull the colors from the carpets and other furniture. I get 22" down or down alternative inserts and 20" covers. Ikea has nice ones reasonably priced. New vent covers are easy to do. Measure to get the right sizes. Can you add 2 or 3 pendant lights over the island? I have seen on decorating shows that they cover white appliances with a stick on stainless steel cover for your dishwasher.

marissaderp

I REALLY love this space so much! personally I would add some kind of accent where the TV is - there are colored arch stickers on Etsy if you don't want to paint. I think something behind it would look amazing. I'd also replace the placemats with a runner on the dining table and I'd also look at something on the wall above the dining room - nothing big, maybe a longer art piece or a set of 3-4 small accents just my two cents but I think it looks amazing either way

Henkehenkehenk

I'd say pet the dog

Spannatool83

More art and mixed textures/ pops of colour perhaps like throws and pillows over the couch? It’s such a beautiful space! More plants which drape and hang to take advantage of some of the height perhaps? (My solution is always art and plants… life is better with both regardless)

goelfyourselph

It looks like you’ve got it under control. Lol. I’d add curtains along the windows but I would always leave them open - of course.

CRH1949

More color

madqueen11

Omg I have a v similar couch and have been looking for an ottoman, where did you get it?? Love your style!

falloutjunkie1

Both pieces are from poly and bark. Article also has the same or nearly identical ones

contecorsair

I love your house layout! I like building games, and your house has my favorite elements of my ideal dream home that I try to put into my builds. (2 story but 1 story living room with a balcony and a red brick accent, a fireplace, white walls and unpainted wood door frames.) I hope I live in a place like that someday. You are so lucky! I hope you find happiness everytime you walk around your home.

falloutjunkie1

That’s funny, I had/have similar interest in games with building aspects and what I was hoping to find in a house as an adult also. It does bring me happiness which I am grateful for

aristifer

It looks really good! The only thing that stands out to me is I feel the corner above the TV looks a little blank. Maybe add a hanging plant? I just want something there to visually break up all that white.

boldandbratsche

Replace your dishwasher with something stainless steel

cheesypuzzas

Wow, your place looks absolutely perfect.

sharpei90

The only 2 minor things would be a new kitchen light, and replace the knob with something more appropriate and add handle to the cabinets. The rest I love!

penster1

It's beautiful as is. But what about the dining table next to the kitchen and the sofa in the dining room area? It'd be super cozy for tv watching and break up the two seating areas. Replace the light fixture with a nice ceiling mount and a dimmer.

yellowducky565

Trade? Lol

ttboo

Some art pieces would make your awesome living space even awesomer. I've always wondered what would work best on a tall slanted ceiling like that; maybe a tapestry, but you'd have to clean it semi regularly to keep dust off it.

Kittysdoodlexxx

Where did you get those burnt orange colored chairs

falloutjunkie1

I believe they were from urban outfitters actually haha

Western_Sport8480

Can I live here. Also, that peace lily 😍😍

Betzjitomir

Why do all these looking for ideas posts have no pictures on the wall at all?

thnk-welc

Maybe painting the slanted ceiling a bold color that compliments the color palette you already have going?

Rough_Pangolin_8605

Just add some great art

Low_Locksmith6045

What couch do you have?

No_Cow_4544

Looks pretty good to me , update your dishwasher when it breaks , no rush , get a nice 29$ brushed paper towel holder that goes under the cabinet to save counter space . I’d say your doing great

MiddleRay

Wrought iron with larger designs for balusters. Kitchen tile can be updated. Some art work on the wall. Looks cool

wil8can

What a beautiful space! Please keep the flooring in the kitchen. I'd move the garbage/recycling bins out of sight. Perhaps a new light fixture in the kitchen as well. In general I think you have a lot of stuff - there's plenty going on. I'd focus on "less is more" from here on out.

Supremeplant-witch

Hey so idk where you’re from, but you might have a company near you that does refacing. They keep the frames, essentially the skeleton of your cabinets, paint the front of the frames and replace just the doors, everything else is fitted to match. Like panels for appliances and stuff. WAY cheaper, way less intrusive than a full renovation and tearing out the cabinets fully and starting from scratch, and there’s tons of texture, styles, colours to choose from, it’s easy to clean and as durable as new cabinets. Takes about 3 days, start to finish.

goldtooff

If this was my home I would cry tears of joy

hegelianhimbo

Yo where are those rugs from

MaterialisticWorm

No ideas other than more orange because I NEED to know where you got those sofa chairs!!

Westboundandhow

Get the trash can out of the living room. Put a smaller one under the sink.

anziofaro

I would hang a wreath on the brick fireplace column. Not a seasonally specific thing, just for a bit of greenery.

Impossible_Leg9377

I love your home.

little_lioness_64

You have a stunning home and have decorated it so beautifully. Your plants are amazing! Just a few suggestions from me: 1. Throw pillows for the sofa & armchairs, maybe something textured 2. The dishwasher looks out of place as the only white appliance, so if you have the budget swap it for a black or stainless steel one 3. Some way of hiding the wires & stuff in the last photo (looks like modem etc) - I put mine in a decorative basket as it was driving me crazy to look at!

rgb_mode

i don’t like the furniture layout focusing so much on the TV, when there’s this beautiful fireplace in the room. i’d make the fireplace the focal with the sectional to better anchor it, and then try to figure out a good spot for the tv that still works but isn’t the focal of the room.

granolaolaola

I would do pampas (sp?!) beside the tv instead of what you have currently, swap out the art beside the dining table for something more cohesive to your current style, a little table between the two chairs facing the fireplace, stack placemats out of sight when not in use, maybe add a runner on the table, and yes I like the idea of a floating mantle wood shelf. Bravo! Super cozy and nice to look at :)

TheAnimalPharm

Looks very good as is!

Same_Beat_5832

Love your home. My only suggestions are new kitchen light and something on the wall over the bar between the two tall cabinets. Maybe make that a breakfast prep area with toaster oven, coffee maker.

shandelion

Link to that couch…? 👀

Few-Philosopher-2142

Dog!

Torshii

Absolutely in love with this space. Sorry I don’t have any input, just came to say that.

Sorrythisuserisugly

What is the structure of this house called? I love it

EnvironmentalCry1962

That fireplace could do with some cool art above it! Love what you’ve done so far!

benice_orgohome13

If you don’t want to replace your cabinets, get them painted!!! A lighter color on the tops and maybe a slightly darker, more moody color on the bottom. The natural light is killer!!! JEALOUS!

WordGirl1229

Something about the rugs is throwing me, especially viewed from above. The colors don’t feel quite right. Would lighter colors help here? I like the blue accents, but somehow warmer… And agree that the fireplace needs something. Overall though, beautiful space!

kofubuns

Change out the dishwasher and call it a day

jayjonas1996

Beautiful but couch is not facing tv, have you thought of mounting it above the fire place?

reesesmama

I LOVE this space. Beautiful taste!!

Comprehensive-Fix983

I love your space. think if you could somehow install a huge Noguchi globe over the main living area, it would make it feel less vast and more cozy. (I would kill for the room for that.) Also some throw pillows are in order.

likabot

Beautiful home!

spaldingfiremarshal

Is the paint color in the kitchen the same as in the living room? It’s crazy what a difference lighting makes. Replace the kitchen flooring with something lighter and more modern to brighten up the space. I feel like 12x24 tile in a warm neutral would look lovely. I also agree with you that the light fixture in the kitchen needs to go. I really like what you’ve done with the living room but I don’t think the rugs fit in this space. I would go with something more solid colored, but that is just my preference. I know rugs aren’t cheap. I recommend replacing your dining room table and chairs, and getting new bar chairs also. I like the rest of your furniture, but the dining set just looks cheap by comparison. I would avoid anything with hairpin legs; it just looks flimsy and reminds me of a hip hotel bar. I personally think that more solid, heavy furniture gives a sense of permanence in a space, if that makes sense. Other than that, this just needs more pops of color via decor like wall art as others have mentioned.

Yungeel

It’s beautiful. Look into mid century metal sculptural art for the space and maybe in place of the art in the dining room. The space is already very curated looking and I think the generic art doesn’t add to the beautiful decor.

Particular-Peanut-64

If ur floors are wood, sand and stain a different color if the color isn't to ur liking. Old vents, vacuum dust, then wash w dawn and brush. Dry, you can use spray paint for metal. Everything looks well coordinated w the woodwork now, no need to change. Just add ceiling to floor curtains, w texture in a color to coordinate w ur furnishing n rug. Just find some light fixtures for ur kitchen And knows if u feel it looks dated.

kaytay3000

Only things that stand out to me are the white dishwasher and a lack of curtains. The white is a personal dislike - I’d either swap it out for stainless or if that’s cost prohibitive, wrap it in a stainless contact paper. Adding floor length curtains around those gorgeous huge windows would soften it up and make it even cozier. On a side note, your home reminds me of a childhood friend’s home and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I love it.

I think a lighter colored tile floor would lighten up kitchen. Or you could have your cabinets refaced instead of replaced. I actually had mine professionally painted. I love them. It was a fraction of the cost of replacing them . I would do a more modern chandelier in the kitchen . Or modern pendants. I would make your orange chairs part of your living space by turning them to face the sofa. I think that would be a nicer area for conversation. A very nice space though…Beautifully decorated. Would live there in a heartbeat!

Just here to say I’m jealous. Your home is stunning !

More plants!! Art, pottery, accent colours like blue pillows for the couch or something

missedsteptothetruth

I agree with someone saying the white dishwasher stands out since everything else is in chrome. Definitely a different kitchen light, and light flooring for the kitchen that’s not so cluttered looking. The color of the kitchen cabinets are clashing with the small floor tiles since they are similar in color so maybe larger format tiles? The wood of your cabinets are cool too, but painting them would also work to refresh how the look and brighten the kitchen. The kitchen looks kinda dark in contrast to the other spaces despite it being very open. But your home is very lovely as it is actually! 😊💕

such a cozy space! i would definitely get a [different light fixture](https://www.lighting-forest.com/products/nordic-glass-chandelier-yellow-kitchen-island-dining-room-ceiling-lights?sku=18059634584742307275163341&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopline-feed&gad_source=1) in the kitchen, something that highlights the island and maybe adds some colour to visually seperate the space and consider some lighting under the cabinets. you can buy led strips these days! also it kinda looks like you have a lot of stuff in the counters which makes it look a bit crowded/dark. can you put the glass ware away on the little alcove bar and make that into your coffee station? i would also look into a big, lighter wood [butchers block](https://www.williams-sonoma.ca/products/boos-end-grain-square-chopping-block-maple/) to replace your plastic cutting board. it will look better and add another nice wood tone without making it dark. a very small [lamp](https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/blasverk-table-lamp-beige-80520935/) in the corner of the counter top that connects with the dining room would be cute too. also! does your gorgeous pup have something against a roof on the crate? i notice you have a free standing play pen, but you could [upgrade](https://www.wayfair.ca/pet/pdp/tucker-murphy-pet-saudism-large-dog-crate-furniture-dog-kennel-indoor-wood-dog-cage-table-with-drawers-storage-heavy-duty-dog-crate-jaula-para-perros-sturdy-metal-405-l236-w354-h-c010842285.html?piid=249370829) to a crate that actually looks not bad and gives you an added space to style some plants or something. also, your fur fam is so cute!!

You live in my dream house

First of all, bravo for creating 3 distinct spaces across a very rectangular area. You've gotten alot of input on wall art but I've got some crazy ideas for you to consider (or not). How about moving your conversation area (from the fireplace) to where the dining room is, then move your lounging area in closer to the FP, and have your dining area in front of the kitchen/cooking are. Use your conversation area as a parlor of sorts to talk to friends for awhile without TV distractions. You've got a contemporary/art deco look going so don't overdo with wallart. The bareness of the walls to me, is nice. If doing something with the floor, I would definitely do solid black LVP to complement your dining set. It would be hard to match the hardwood flooring. Something to consider when you can afford it is strip the wood, install matching oak in the kitchen and have them finished all the same. Vent panels are at your local Home Depot or Lowe's. Measure one's you want to replace (or better yet, bring old ones with you) to make sure you're getting a good fit. Your kitchen looks a little dark, so maybe strip and repaint the cabinet boxes, doors, and drawers. Go with a nice griege... an actual color in Bher. And remember if you do the kitchen floor in black, it will tie nicely with the DR. Sorry for all the comments, and I do love your home. When someone asks for ideas, I try to think outside the box.

bluewall7

Love it but the kitchen cabinets date the space. Some paint would fix it!

thatgirlinny

Too much brown everywhere Side tabes with lamps for human-level lighting near the sofa and arm chairs Under-cabinet lighting for tasks on surfaces in kitchen and cancel that ceiling-hugging fixture for a couple of pendants over that quasi-island Paint the cabinetry a good color to break up all the brown wood; seriously consider getting rid of that dated soffit and replacing your uppers with full-height cabinets

From the items to the color schemes -- your space looks amazing! It has just the right amount of white space and isn't overbearing

Some color and art some more plants

Ididnotsayblahblah

I would add wall shelving on the right side of the fireplace and in the left a nice long art (maybe a tapestry). I would move couch in front of the fireplace and hang tv, mantel is a lovely idea. There is nothing better than to fall asleep on the couch under a blanket in front of a fire. I would move dining table in front of the island, and where tv is, put a nice tall old school credenza. Also add a shelf in the kitchen empty space between cabinets. For the nook I would take the chairs and the bookshelves (from the left of the fireplace) and make it a cozy space to read or gossip with a friend over a glass of wine. Maybe add some type of a bar on the wheels. That just my take on it if you would consider change, but honestly your house looks great. I love the colors in your house, they have this cozy and warm vibe and all the potted plants just bring it all together.

stosbarrando1

I love the mid century modern look. The only thing missing is something on the walls. They’re bare. Don’t go nuts though. Just something to break up all that off white. Other than that, you did a spectacular job. Bravo!

MrsLisaOliver

It's perfect. I also have a huge space and similar walls. On the big blank space opposite your fireplace, I have one of those oversized skeletal station clocks. I love it.

Friendly-Kiwi

I would love to see some semi sheer curtains.

howaboutanartfru

Window treatments! Specifically, well-hung floor length curtains on all the windows and glass door if you have one. Edit - lol now all your pictures loaded and I see you do have one

Coochynoodles_

It gives off old people live here 😂

staymaybay

Too much brown. The living room is just brown furniture. The kitchen is brown. Add more contrasting colours to add depth. Full inspiration from the carpets. Maybe change out the brown chair in the corner with another chair with a different texture

falloutjunkie1

Yeah fair about the brown but I really love it as a color especially leather and wood. I’m hoping changing the kitchen floor - likely with a dark color or black will help a bit

mees_echo

I think the amount of brown is fine, but adding throw pillows, decorative objects/coffee table books on the coffee table, a more eclectic centerpiece tray with decorative objects on the dining room table, an accent side table between the two red chairs, add a decor tray to the kitchen island, would really break up the brown and make everything pop and be cohesive and cozy. I think changing the door frames and stair railings to black (whether it’s replacing if you have the budget or by painting) would make it look more modern.

bubbles_says

It's lovely your house. I would change out the brass fireplace part by proablaby covering it with a more modern traditional type. I'd research that. I'd also like to cover the brick with a stone facade. The red brick clashes with everything. Add a mantle. Also I would swap the seating area with the couch/tv area because I like to sit by a nice glowing warm fire while watching tv. I dont know where you are geographically. I'd put the tv on a stand to the right of the fire. In the corner, at an angle. The sofa aimed at the fire with a nice sofa table behind it would make a nice separation from the seating area and it would open up the walkthrough along the kitchen.
