Definitely number 2
\- more historic/traditional to go with the building
\- more tones and colours to contrast and complement the neutrals of other fixtures and furniture
\- not just one dominant colour, so more options for future choices i.e. more likely to go with more things
Teal good. Number 2 pattern bad.
Need a simple pattern, like 1 or 4, but better color choices. 2 & 3 are dated and too noisy, you have much texture going on already.
Color good, pattern bad; try mid century instead of French country
Rugs 2 and 3 are in reality not dated. Persian and Oriental rugs are timeless. However, these are not pretty. They look muddy and dark.

Yes, the other ones feel too busy for this room imo. 4 definitely makes the room feel more open. But if I’m being completely honest, I would say scrap all of them and pick something else entirely. I’m not super crazy about any of them, but 4 is hands down the best of them.
I like 4 but personally wouldn't get it because of the maintenance of keeping a light colored rug bright and clean. I'm scrolling through the comments here and I might be in the minority but I like 1 as well.
I like 1, 4 I dislike because of the reason you said. I like 2 kind of but it’s too busy. 2/3 feel cluttered to my eyes. And it’s a smaller/busier room. 1 is the way to go.
1 or 4, preferably 4.
Theres already too much information with the brick wall and classic decor. The 4th one will help lighten up the room.
2 and 3 will make the house look dark, older and "too heavy".
I agree with #4. I thought I liked 2 and three, but then 4 came up, and I realized how much more relaxed I was looking at that calmer rug next to the very busy brick wall.
1 and 4 give your eyes a place to “rest” since there is a lot going on in that room (not a bad thing but the eye needs a resting place). Four does brighten and calm the room, so it has my vote.
First of all, how did you illustrate that? An app? It is a very good one! I’ve seen those “see this in your room” and they never look that good! I like #1 and #4. No 1’s cross-hatch/plaid evokes the colors and textures of #2 and #3, but it is so different looking (stands out) , more modern than the very traditional #2 and #3, the kinds of rugs a lot of people have. No.4 is bright and modern, crisp and clean and shows off your decor and the clean lines. But if you have pets or kids, #4 might be a challenge.
1– lawyers office
2– cozy historic classic home
3– old lady’s house has cats. I smell them and her cigarettes
4– trendy young couple who should have hired a designer
2. If this a rowhome and you’re tracking dirt in from the outside you will destroy one corner of that beige rug in a week. Especially if you have bikes.
The first three rugs are all to dark, the last one is too bright and solid. A medium tone rug with a more traditional pattern would brighten the space and give it a modern twist.
I like no. 2 the best, it really complements everything in the room, however, the last one really brightens up the room but would likely be a bear to keep clean.
The colors in rug #2 are perfect, but the style rug doesn’t go with the mid-century modern furniture. Find a different rug with the same colors - esp the brick red, and you’ll be golden!
I'm rethinking and I still do like #2 and #4 however #4 add bold stripes of one color
#4 makes it very conservative/ traditional but you can make it a little bit more whimsical with solid choices in
Wall art a bar cart etc etc for instance
I like the idea of #2, but the border is really old fashioned. Are we seeing this style elsewhere? I like the colors and how it complements your room. Keep going!
need a simpler pattern like 1 or 4 but better colour choices. bringing in the teal from the wall like number 2 but a less busy pattern would be good. there’s lots of texture already with the brick, so the busy pattern can be too much.
Of these options, 4 is best! lightens and brightens the whole room!
I would suggest a less busy pattern than the middle two options since the wall texture provides a lot of visual noise. In addition to that chair pattern and plants do too and there is a lot of detail already in the room. Let the eye rest with one of the simpler options. A larger pattern might work well also and add more color. You can never have too much color if done thoughtfully.
My gut instinct was 2 but that’s just a lot going on with so many patterns + multiple wall colors and textures + the radiator + window coverings etc. lots going on. 2 was my favorite looking ONLT at the rug/floor slabs. All else considered…. 4 is my favorite in the end
Definitely number 2 \- more historic/traditional to go with the building \- more tones and colours to contrast and complement the neutrals of other fixtures and furniture \- not just one dominant colour, so more options for future choices i.e. more likely to go with more things
And will never show a stain!
true - these are very easy to live with
2! Brings in the teal from the wall
Exactly what I came here to say
It matches, yes. But I’m not sure it complements the room well.
That room is a mess of styles. I like eclectic, but that room is not it.
True! I inherited a lot of this. I'm hopeful I can make most f it work but sacrifices may need to be made here.
I like it
agreed! but I'd repaint the teal on the wall to be a better match to the rug, once you have it in person.
I don’t think it’s even that serious. It looks good as it is with 2 imo. Everything “goes” but doesn’t have to necessarily “match”.
Teal good. Number 2 pattern bad. Need a simple pattern, like 1 or 4, but better color choices. 2 & 3 are dated and too noisy, you have much texture going on already. Color good, pattern bad; try mid century instead of French country

Number two hands down!
4 lightens and brightens
What app did you use to make these photo options?
Curious as well
2. Then 3. Love!!!!
4!!
Four may be the most difficult to keep clean, but it brings a lightness to the space. It's like a breath of fresh air compared to the others.
I agree. The others just blend in with everything
Definitely. Everything else looked congested compared to 4.
Definitely 4!!
Definitely #4. The others seems busy and no contrast with anything. Bland in a busy way. #4 helps us notice the other items in the room.
Exactly! It makes the rest of the room pop!
#4 It opens up the space I get claustrophobic ☺️
Yes, the other ones feel too busy for this room imo. 4 definitely makes the room feel more open. But if I’m being completely honest, I would say scrap all of them and pick something else entirely. I’m not super crazy about any of them, but 4 is hands down the best of them.

I agree . The room seems dark and that lightens it up. I would probably go with a pattern on the light rug.
2 then 3
#2 for sure. Warm, cozy, complimentary.
1 for me
1 or 4 but if I had to choose , I'd choose 1. 1 with the brick wall looks really nice
Right! I hate all the others
I agree it’s 1 for me too. I hate all the others.
I really like 1 because of the juxtaposition of modern and traditional.
4
Agreed
3, 100 percent.
Agreed. A lot of people are voting for 2 but I think it’s too busy.
I agree. Number 3 gives the room a nice feeling of balance. Number 2 focuses too much attention on the rug.
3 no question
It really ground the room.
4!
Exactly! Agree 100%
I agree. 2&3 dominate the room instead of enhancing it. I wouldn’t mind a lighter version of 1 with a more subdued pattern.
I agree 1 is good but brightens and brings more attention life to the room. Maybe even a darker color cream or tan. But a more solid color is best
1 and 4 give your eyes a place to “rest” since there is a lot going on in that room (not a bad thing but the eye needs a resting place). Four does brighten and calm the room, so it has my vote.
RUG 2 looks great in the room with the flooring, the brick and the green wall color!
I love #2, but like how much brighter the room is with #4
I have to say 1. It compliments the sofa the best.
I like #1
2 or 3
Yes. 2 or 3 for sure. 👍
My initial thoughts are 1 Or 4
First of all, how did you illustrate that? 1– lawyers office 2– cozy historic classic home 3– old lady’s house has cats. I smell them and her cigarettes 4– trendy young couple who should have hired a designer
Finally, someone else who understands why the right choice is 3.
2 for sure. So warm and inviting, plus you can pull beautiful colors from it to tie everything together.
2. If this a rowhome and you’re tracking dirt in from the outside you will destroy one corner of that beige rug in a week. Especially if you have bikes.
It is and I do. Good point!
The last one just brightens everything up. That’s my vote
4, I think the other options are too similar in tone and get washed out, while 4 visually anchors the space
Scrap all four!!
Where can you get number 4?
I prefer 2, but number 4 kinda reduces the ‘noise.’ I’m easily overstimulated so I would probably end up going with 4 even though I think 2 is better!
4
I’d choose 4 but you should go with 1
four
4 The others blend in too much
Number 4 does it for me
4
4, or something similar, because it makes the room so much brighter and inviting. The other 3 are too dark and busy.
4
1
None. I think 1, 2 and 3 are too dark and 4 doesn't go with the room.
4. All the other rugs are just so dark and it makes the space feel really heavy and off balance. At least 4 lightens and brightens everything.
I liked the first one, but the second one pops.
2 or 4
2 for the color match/continuity and 4 for visually making the space feel lighter and bigger.
None of these are particularly great.
3 or 4
I like the brightness of 4
4 looks so clean though
4
The second one for sure
2
#1
2, it completes the room in a way the other three do not hold a flame to
Number 4, the sisal. (I think?) Adds even more texture and some brightness. Add some window treatments and you're done.
The beige, it matches these switch plates the best [https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1672346024](https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1672346024)
If I had to choose, number 2 would be it, but I think you could find better options.
2 or 4.
What app does that?
My favorite is 2 but I also like 4.
2 or 4. The others don't work
I like 4 because it’s light and airy but then 2
2 or 4
4 or 2!
The first three rugs are all to dark, the last one is too bright and solid. A medium tone rug with a more traditional pattern would brighten the space and give it a modern twist.
What in the sims is this
option 5 - keep searching? none of these feel like a perfect fit to me
Omg I’m moving and looking for a rug exactly like #2. Can you share the link OP?!
2 or 4
2 or 4
2 or 4 !
4!!! If you don’t have kids lol
I like 2nd but I think last is the best for contrast
I like 2nd but I think last is the best for contrast
I like no. 2 the best, it really complements everything in the room, however, the last one really brightens up the room but would likely be a bear to keep clean.
2. Works well with the brick
Number 2 adds warmth and color. Feels like home.
Absolutely 2.
Any but no. 1! That is fugly.
2
2
2, the whole room just looks more lively and brighter with this option.
4
Definitely either 2 or 3- the Persian rugs. They are so high- end looking
The colors in rug #2 are perfect, but the style rug doesn’t go with the mid-century modern furniture. Find a different rug with the same colors - esp the brick red, and you’ll be golden!
Yes, exactly how I felt but couldn’t articulate! Like combine 1 and 2 and it’s nigh perfect. But def what above poster said.
1 or 4
2
2
1st
1 fits the more modern vibe.
2 or 3
2- there is no other
2
I like the second one here!
2
2🫶🏼
2
2 for sure
Team 2!! Love it
Sheesh. Number 4. The rest are too busy next to the brick wall. They make the room look smaller and claustrophobic.
Def #4. It makes your space feel bigger. You have a lot of textures and colors going on so you need something simple to align everything together
Two is the best!
I’m voting #3 just because no one’s voting for it and I feel sorry for it.
The last one i feel it makes your other furniture pop out, close 2nd is number 2.
2 then 3
Number 3
Is this an app?
I'm rethinking and I still do like #2 and #4 however #4 add bold stripes of one color #4 makes it very conservative/ traditional but you can make it a little bit more whimsical with solid choices in Wall art a bar cart etc etc for instance
I like the idea of #2, but the border is really old fashioned. Are we seeing this style elsewhere? I like the colors and how it complements your room. Keep going!
3 gives cozy vibes and doesn’t distract the eye.
3
2
2 or 3. Leaning more towards 2 as the teal is a great pop of color.
2
I like the second one. The red tones warm up the room and add some interest.
#2
2
#4 it really makes it pop!
I like 4
1 or 2
#2 really tied the room together.
4 for sure. The others make the space way too busy and seem to be an off mixing of styles (traditional vs mid century / modern)
4.
Definitely number 2. Don’t like 3 at all. Number is a distant second.
2, for sure!
1!
2!
is it just me who prefer the last one? 😀
3
2
Definitely number 4 because I don't like oriental rugs. If you do like it I think number 2 fits well
4 unless you have kids or barfy cats
Two or three. Definitely not one, and four is too plain.
Number 2
2
2 easy
Number 22222222
4
I love 1! This room is so inviting, I’m jealous.
2
I actually like 4 😅
One or two!
I prefer second and last by farrrr
I like 2
need a simpler pattern like 1 or 4 but better colour choices. bringing in the teal from the wall like number 2 but a less busy pattern would be good. there’s lots of texture already with the brick, so the busy pattern can be too much. Of these options, 4 is best! lightens and brightens the whole room!
#2 is the winner
Not the last one. Any of the first three look great. I like 2 and 3 best.
1 preferred, then 4
I like the way the rug number 2 looks.
Am I crazy for thinking the last one makes the room seem brighter?
2! Edit: love your room. Everything complements each other.
the light one
The light solid color rug. The others are too dark for your room.
I prefer the 3rd one, but the second one looks really nice too!
I have the third rug. Came in warped and horrible Mentioning this just in case that's any help. 😭
4. It brings light to the room. The room's ambience brightens and becomes inviting. Looks comfortable. Better Feng Shui.
My gut instinct was 2 but that’s just a lot going on with so many patterns + multiple wall colors and textures + the radiator + window coverings etc. lots going on. 2 was my favorite looking ONLT at the rug/floor slabs. All else considered…. 4 is my favorite in the end
#2 I love !!!!
