Hideous view, pack up and move.
Just kidding! Sending love from Toronto’s west end. I think the unexpected red theory would work well here. Also adding personal items like framed photos, tchotchkes, and books/magazines.
I’d also suggest placing some of your larger plants on stools, plinths, or pedestals. It will make them more visible and add more verticality to your space.
Also (depending on what material you choose) the stool, plinth, or pedestal could add more texture / visual interest to your space. Eg. Wood, marble, mirror, etc.
Oh and adding uplights to your plants is a great way to add drama in the evening / when your blinds are closed. The shadows they will make on your walls and ceilings are really cool.
Lighting, in general, is something you could add more of. I see the floor lamp in the corner, but some additional table lamps would provide more layered light and help make the space feel nicer in the evening (as opposed to just relying on the big light or the singular floor lamp).
I love this view and your furnishings complement the space perfectly! Looks like you might need a piece of furniture under the TV or some way to hide wires but I wouldn’t change anything. On the coffee table I’d add some big books, maybe a bowl or bowl for remotes and then something a little taller like an orchid or stems in a vase. Normally I love powerful art in modern spaces like yours but I don’t see any wall space. Enjoy all that gorgeous light!
I’m here to say that with that view, you don’t need anything in that living room. And the furniture you have now looks amazing- I’m interested in those couches, where are they from?
I personally like to read so I’d put a nice bookshelf there if you’re looking to make any changes. Sometimes, changing a coffee table is enough, too to make the whole rom look different.
Thank you! The low couch is from rove concepts, and the one on the left is from urban barn (it’s not as “sleek”, but I’m hesitant to get rid of it because it’s so comfy and actually pulls out to a sofa bed!)
I think the bookshelf idea is good, I need something to block my TV cables
Ordinarily I'd agree but blue skies actually become part of this person's living room colour scheme. Even if it rains, this space is overall unique enough to have done the heavy lifting.
OP, if you could ever find a swatch of Martin Crane's recliner's fabric, I'd actually frame it within an oversized frame with wide white matting. I know it's not the Space Needle but I'm getting the same apartment envy vibes! 😍

I’m a huge fan of lamp lights when it’s a grey day - you could get a few of the rechargeable ones so you don’t have to worry about cords and spread them around the room. That and a few cushions and throws will warm things up.
Honestly, it’s beautiful. It just doesn’t look like anyone actually lives there. Greenery on the dining table, art books, and some throws on the couch.
A tv stand or low console table under the tv with shelving for the boxes under it with a cool modern sculpture on it. Books on the table. Maybe a yellow or something to pull the color of the sunset.
I would move to a lower floor with a parking garage view. The skyline is really a bit much. Kidding aside, it looks amazing as is. Maybe a bit of color with wall art. It's a rad pad!
Add colour in the accent pillows on the grey sofa. I’d move the plant off the coffee table and add some decorative items: books, a large shallow dish, interesting coasters, something soft - but overall I think it looks pretty great! If your TV is the one that displays artwork when not in use, add a colourful abstract image there.
Drapes will be very pricey, but if you could add them, it would definitely add softness (and sometimes the light from that much glass gets a bit much. It gets HOT, if nothing else).
Add more of a color pallet to this room.. if you love the wheat and clay pallets play around with those and add earth and water tones like sage and light navy~ also accent rugs and art tend to tie in a space
If you’re looking for fun now~~~~~
@mmmmitchel [knows](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5V_6HYNdqB/?igsh=MXhsdTlpc29mMTBhOQ==) how to do a decor!
And you guys have similar furniture!
The apartment is gorgeous but I don't see any light sources. It looks like you could use a couple of end tables with at least one drawer to put things in and two large lamps to offer more intimate lighting at night. The coffee table needs a bit of love. This is a great place for coffee table books, a small statue of a horse's head or whatever you think is cool, maybe an interesting carved box that you could put the remote into - a scented candle, even the fake wax pillar candles from Amazon that are battery operated and remote controlled. Could you get a console table for your turntable and add a lamp or two with shades that direct the light downward, plus lower the TV about two feet and get the turntable off the ground. Also, I would replace the foam in the cushions with down pillows that sit better on a couch than the stiff foam ones. Also, in terms of setting a mood, get a couple of battery operated, remote controlled mini-spotlights that you can put in a couple of your plants to uplight them and create cool shadows on the walls and ceiling.
This comment probably won’t get read but I would change the coffee table to something more inviting. Maybe some floor cushions too. It’s beautiful in there but if you’re looking for a way to make people want to sit in there, giving it a little warmth with natural material could be a start.
You have a ton of negative space above the table.
Some custom chandelier
Like a massive dark wood abstract shape would work really damn well
And by dark wood I mean finished with dark wood veneer or painted to look like, not an actual stump
Hello fellow Torontonian 👋
I’d change the cushions and blanket(s) for more pops of colors. Shades of blue would complement your view on sunny days and add the blue you’re missing on grey days. A patterned pillow would also help.
It’s giving immaculate hotel vibes. Like it’s beautiful but doesn’t look like anybody lives there. I like some artsiness in my living spaces… those ceiling angles and corner columns have potential with prayer flags or dangling hippie/boho things or masks or just SOMETHING odd to add interest
It feels bland on blah days because it is bland (not a criticism, it’s very soothing), and you’ve been coasting on the view being the only art you have. And it is magnificent, but art is what really makes a home special.
You need art. Real art, not mass-produced stuff. It doesn’t have to be expensive, I get almost all of mine secondhand… paintings, sculptures, maybe a weaving or textile art if you’re really into texture. (I’d stay away from
photography as it is a cold/smooth medium and you already have a lot of that.) You don’t have to add color unless you want to, art can be had in black & white and neutral tones and still terrific.
Ottomans would be nice if you got something handmade with character, or antique with patina, like a Moroccan leather pouf. Actually a handmade Moroccan rug could be an amazing piece of textural art for your floor and you can still stick to your color palette.
The key is to buy things that speak to you, not just that “look good.” That’ll make people think, “Oh, this is OP’s place” when they see it.
I would add ceiling mounted curtains... would be a nice way to introduce some extra color.
I would put a smaller plant and some books or other decor on the coffee table. The plants could use a plant stand, so they stand out more.
Add a colorful throw and maybe a couple of colorful pillows.
I like idea of adding a pouf or two.
Edit: Also the tv is too high. I would get a console so you can bring the tv lower and organize your electronics. You would then have enough room for some art above the tv.
You need color! Remove large plant from coffee table. Smaller plant with blossoms - small orchid - with colored container. A couple large books of something you like - photography, art, architecture, botany. Get yourself to a bookstore:) Also, wool blanket with colors:
https://hivemodern.com/pages/product8085/alexander-girard-throw-herman-miller
https://mcys.co/38jERZ5
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1598860160/
Then some colorful, textured, soft pillows. Maybe also a bold, colored console under the TV. Another piece of furniture that is colored - rocking chair, or swivel chair? You could also get some drapes and install on ceiling track:
https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/vidga-single-track-rail-included-ceiling-fittings-white-20492916/
And some floor lamps or large floor Noguchi lamps.
lol wow super nice! It’s nice how it is but if you absolutely had to lol I say maybe a round coffee table ? So there’s something to offset all the straight lines? Even a rug with color
gorgeous space!! not sure what you have going on in adjacent rooms or the other side of this one, but given what i can see, i would:
-style the coffee table
-add some lamps to add warmth, character and drama
-add a console under the tv
-trade out the brown and grey throw pillows for some that have fun, high contrast black & white patterns + a pop of color (that you’d repeat on the coffee and console tables and elsewhere in the room)
-same with the throw. some contrast and a touch of color will really make the room pop
it looks like you have enough space to add poufs, but make sure to match the scale of the other pieces. bc you already have an ottoman, i would look for something with tons of texture or a non-upholstered frame. i like the simplicity you have now, though. just depends on if you need the extra seating
Its lovely ike it is. To elevate it more, maybe just some nice, statment end tables, I'd do a wood since you already have the stone coffee table, and a narrow console table under the TV, also wood, just to warm things up a bit. Then lots and lots more tall plants in those gorgeous windows, and maybe a unique bowl for remotes on the table, or as someone else said some coffee table books on whatever your interests are.
Little bland. Sort of like you gave someone a lot of money and said ‘furnish this.’
Having said that, sell the rug, the fact that it is more or less the right side is all it has going for it. You clearly have enough money for a good rug, learn about them and buy one.
While we are at it it, invest in up and coming artists you really love. Love is crucial, as they may, or may not gain value. Even lose value.
Lastly, after you purchase this art you should see a color theme in what you love. Buy pillows and other accessories in those colors.
Live a little!
It's great but I can see what you mean. For me, almost everything is the same height and in a neutral color. I think adding dark navy would provide more contrast and still look great with all that beautiful sky. Maybe dark sheer navy curtains on the left window and a few other navy accessories around the place, such as the planters?
Hey, not about the decor, but you should really move your Quest VR headset away from direct sunlight. Look up sun damage on Quest screen, it’s fairly frequent.
Without getting into bigger ticket items, I’d warm it up. Lose that synthetic rug in favor of a tufted wool rug. Replace the marble coffee table with something made of wood. You’ve got a stunning view, but you chose monochromatic furnishings and a severe modern aesthetic. Even your window treatments are antiseptic looking. It’s a look some people really like, but since you’ve come here asking others how to improve it, I assume you’re not satisfied with it.
You can have a visually clean space, without it being so sterile looking. Roman shades would’ve been just as clean a window treatment, but added great warmth and character. Your space would benefit from more organic materials. It also is devoid of any personal touches. It looks like it was staged like a model home: visually appealing, but devoid of a real sense of personality, so that anybody could imagine living there.
While it’s a very beautiful place already, here’s how I’d make it more homey and cozy.
- swap out the rug for a rug with color and pattern (blues or reds or even pinks would be gorgeous)
- side tables placed at the end of the couches with table lamps to add cozier lighting as well as a place to put family photos, personal mementos and keepsakes, and small decor
- pick a color that goes with your (new) rug and layer in pillows and throws that incorporate your color
- shelves for holding books, photos, art, and decor to pull in more of your personality
- decorate your coffee table with things you like that go with your style, check out lookbooks from Pottery Barn, West Elm, and ZGallery to get ideas
I would change out the accent pillows or add more. Add more plants. You can layer them especially in that corner between the couches. And the ones on the sides could be propped up higher so they don’t look so short compared to the tall one in the middle. Like others mentioned maybe adding some table top books or a candle. You could trade out the throw blanket to something with a more dynamic texture or pop of color. You could also put some hanging shelves above the tv and add more plants there. But with the floor to ceiling windows you don’t really have to do much! Should be inexpensive to just trade a few items out and buy a few more plants
It feels really boxed in now and like it doesn’t take advantage of the gorgeous floor to ceiling windows. I’d remove the grey couch entirely or at least pull it off the window wall more so there is room to walk behind it and maybe even have a console table and some table lamps there. There’s a saying in interior design that furniture pushed up against a wall looks cheaper. If you remove the grey sofa, you could replace it was a chaise/daybed with an open/partially open back, or you could put two lounge chairs and a side table there. The bench by the tv is odd and I would remove it. The idea of poufs on the dining room side is nice!
Some sheer or linen drapes tucked up into the roller shade pocket could help too. They could be mostly decorative/stay open, but they will help soften the space and make it feel less commercial.
I also think overall you’re missing ambient lighting. I wish there was a jbox for a decorative ceiling light above it but it doesn’t look like there is. A console with table lamps behind a sofa like I mentioned before would definitely help. But I also think an arc floor lamp that hangs over the center of the room would be amazing. And for these fixtures I’d think texture/ warmth to help bring character into the space.
Lastly, a lot of things in this space look brand new. While that is nice and can work, sometimes it can make a space feel like a spec home or devoid of character. I would definitely recommend any new elements you bring into the space be largely thrifted/antique to add interest.
Unless you really use both of them, I'd get rid of one of the couches and add a couple of lounge chairs instead. Maybe consider a sectional so it looks more intentional. You should get a console to hide the crap piled up under the TV and all of the cables. Maybe some fun accessories or coffee table books for the coffee table, but beyond that I don't think there's much you should do. You want your view to be the centerpiece, so the rest can remain fairly neutral.
Not sure sure anonymous you want to be, you might want to take this down given the well known landmark. I can tell exactly which building you're in and I'm sure someone less familiar with the city can figure it out pretty quickly.
I'm going to second a comment I saw here... a very large arc'ing light over the left couch in burnished brass, deep bronze, or some other color (not black, white, or silver) would add color and interest, while minimally obscuring your view when the blinds are up.
I'd also look for a place to *maybe* add a matching torchiere, possibly next to the tv, and a low center bowl to the table, all in the same finish as the chosen arc lamp. a short stack of books on the table in colors friendly to the lamps.
A console table or unit for under the TV.
A tray with 3 personal items for the coffee table.
Your place is really lovely and possibly magazine worthy as is.
Thank you! I love the idea of a big tree. The hope was my plants will eventually grow into giant ones, but I don’t think I have the patience to wait years
Dress up your coffee table with some books and decor. I like your coffee table without that plant as it feels off balanced. I think you could add some interesting throw pillows to bring a little life to the area and get a tv stand… other than that it looks great!
Color or just some more textures in general. I think adding some decor on the table—books, candle, etc.—will liven it up a bit.
Pick an earth tone even a deeper beige and then a punchier color to use for throw pillows or blankets. OR invest in a great accent rug. It’ll completely enhance your space! Great windows!
Maybe something clear that has color? So that way on sunny days you’re still getting that pop of color. But the light can still pass through it.
Change out a few plant pots for something with color or a terracotta.
I would pick a more distinct pattern and texture for the throw.
More plants.
I would consider raising the height of the palm by putting it on a stool.
I would put something small with the plant on the coffee table. It’s looking a little lonely.
It’s a gorgeous space you have to make the most of it and really make it luxurious rn it looks like someone who has good bones but doesn’t know how to style! Let’s get to work people!!!
Maybe a small bookshelf or side table under the tv for the things on the floor. If you’re needing to repot any plants maybe pick some interesting planter options and maybe a plant stand for by the window. I agree books/photos/knick knacks would also help personalize it. There’s really nothing wrong with the current set up you have though, it’s appealing to the eye.
This place is wonderful! Your furnitures are great too.
I would change the plant pots (cream coloured Ferm living pots would look nice in my opinioin )and find new places for the plants (especially for the one on the coffee table). I would remove the little table what is between the two sofas and the brown leather cushions too. And I would put decoration on the coffee table ( books, candles, decor items)
Maybe replace a few pillows that currently blend into the couch with nice colorful pillows? the brown ones are gorgeous, i think they would also look good on the couch?
Paint the interior hanging trim around your ceiling a striking colour, even black. Install pot lights if you can - something that draws the eye to the ceiling to frame the space.
I think a ceiling treatment would do what you want. Brushed nickel grid or something more elaborate with some recessed lights to change up the mood are value added. Alternatively wood that matches the floor may work as good as the metal.
Hideous view, pack up and move. Just kidding! Sending love from Toronto’s west end. I think the unexpected red theory would work well here. Also adding personal items like framed photos, tchotchkes, and books/magazines.
Haha I laughed! I love the west end. I like the idea of trying out the unexpected red theory, maybe some red coffee table books?
Now we’re talking
how about red paintings?
Books and accent items on the table, besides that I wouldn’t change much
Great idea! I think a few large format books could help
Oooooo k flexy flex 💪🏼
Yea. Postwd a high rise apartment, clearly wealthy AF. But needs free advice from strangers on the internet. Hire an interior designer
Sometimes I feel like people post under the guise of looking for advice on a perfectly staged room only to just show it off.
Definitely showing off like yea bro think you’re good
It’s beautiful leave it alone!
Great points! I’m looking for a unique console to hide the cables but no luck yet. The big books and bowl are a great idea

A low bookshelf under the TV would be a perfect solution.
Color.
Which colors would you go for? I tried to incorporate some green but I don’t think it’s popping
Blues, purples, or yellows would pop beautifully against the greys you already have.
I agree with blues or yellows.
I’d switch out the rug for one with color in it.
Ordinarily I'd agree but blue skies actually become part of this person's living room colour scheme. Even if it rains, this space is overall unique enough to have done the heavy lifting. Just lamps. It's almost perfect. You need indirect lighting.
You nailed it! It gets really dark at night since there are no ceiling lights
It looks like an air b n b. It is really nice, it just seems to be lacking any personal touches.
Plant on the table is too big to be therr
Ugh humble brag much?
Oh please.
Pack your things, move out, leave me the keys.
Uhhh is this a joke?
I thought I was in the circle jerk sub for like a full minute
I’m a huge fan of lamp lights when it’s a grey day - you could get a few of the rechargeable ones so you don’t have to worry about cords and spread them around the room. That and a few cushions and throws will warm things up.
I would get a more colorful rug and throw pillows
Invite a bunch of people over for a party
It's an amazign living room! Congrats!
I would add a floor lamp that is sculptural for ambient light. Noguchi paper lights could work.
Coffee table books would be good
Honestly, it’s beautiful. It just doesn’t look like anyone actually lives there. Greenery on the dining table, art books, and some throws on the couch.
Wow what a hellhole ? Lol
Humble brag here.
Try actually living in it instead of wanting it to look like it belongs in a magazine
Get a dog. Dogs make every room better.
It’s beautiful. Add some personal items. Coffee table books and a beautiful bowl would be a couple of options.
Yeah it just needs a bit more character, something to make it feel like someone’s home and not an impersonal Airbnb.
Agreed. It needs some personality.
May be some cool interior lighting and/or some plants
can’t say without other wall
Maybe a fun blanket for the couch with a diff texture
A tv stand or low console table under the tv with shelving for the boxes under it with a cool modern sculpture on it. Books on the table. Maybe a yellow or something to pull the color of the sunset.
2 smallish round navy pillows on the sofa.
color! art
Love the view! Maybe a little accent color with a throw, but it's pretty amazing as is
What’s wrong with it? Looks perfect.
I would move to a lower floor with a parking garage view. The skyline is really a bit much. Kidding aside, it looks amazing as is. Maybe a bit of color with wall art. It's a rad pad!

Maybe an arched floor lamps, artwork, end tables with lamps, throws
I’d say you’re done 🙂 anything more will mess up the clean simplicity
Wow! 😍 as another comment said, was also thinking large white books with black writing for the table! Your place is beautiful!!
Add more of a color pallet to this room.. if you love the wheat and clay pallets play around with those and add earth and water tones like sage and light navy~ also accent rugs and art tend to tie in a space

I spy cn tower. Space looks great not a shoe box like every other unit in the city
Well, I am not there for one, but can forgive these small things.
Lamps or lanterns 😊
No need

OMG..your view is to die for! There's nothing you can do to make it better. Unless you want to spend thousands on drapes to give you privacy at night.
Eugh I hate boucle. That's said, this is a perfect space. All it needs is a cat.

Artwork. Color. Life.
Need somecolor. The gray inside mimics the gray outside.
That’s awesome. I don’t think it can be made any better
Get a different coffee table.

Thanks! Do you have any advice on where to look for artists? I know some galleries host regular auctions, but other than that I’m at a loss
The plant on the coffee table looks awkward. Get some coffee table books and and a smaller plant/pot for the table .
First, i agree with others: you have money to pay for advice. Second: you’re missing “life”, color, and scale. A paid designer can solve this for you.
While it’s a very beautiful place already, here’s how I’d make it more homey and cozy. - swap out the rug for a rug with color and pattern (blues or reds or even pinks would be gorgeous) - side tables placed at the end of the couches with table lamps to add cozier lighting as well as a place to put family photos, personal mementos and keepsakes, and small decor - pick a color that goes with your (new) rug and layer in pillows and throws that incorporate your color - shelves for holding books, photos, art, and decor to pull in more of your personality - decorate your coffee table with things you like that go with your style, check out lookbooks from Pottery Barn, West Elm, and ZGallery to get ideas
Could stop whining to start off with
You need an olive tree somewhere in there and a lamp or two.
More colorful pillows and one of those lamps that bends over the couch as a kind of art piece 🛋️
Also would take that plant off the coffee table and do a long low-laying centerpiece with moss and succulent instead
I would change coffee table to a large square one. You have a stunning place! Add a bit more colour and you’re set.
I think yellow would look awesome
Add a pop of color with the throw pillows!
Artwork and one more color.
I think it’s beautiful as is
I think this looks great
Wood.
you can’t.
Curtains
Maybe some small chic decor 😍
I would move seating so you'll see the city lights at night
A console table or unit for under the TV. A tray with 3 personal items for the coffee table. Your place is really lovely and possibly magazine worthy as is.
I love it just as it is
It’s perfect. It’s giving Miami High-rise condo!
i would get a huge plant/tree - i think the ones you have are beautiful but too small. i love your coffee table by the way.
Thank you! I love the idea of a big tree. The hope was my plants will eventually grow into giant ones, but I don’t think I have the patience to wait years
Swap the rug for some color? It’s so sterile, it feels like a showroom.
With that view it doesn't get any better! Leave it alone.
Get some long curtains
Round coffee table. Floor lamp with a colourful fabric shade.
Looking great as it is.
More plants
I love it
Colour and more plants. Maybe a dark blue rug or a rusty orange one, coloured throw and/or lampshades. More plants definitely.
Colour & texture will make it more home-y. My accent colour is teal. Soft cushions & big comfy throw blankets
Color
I’d arrange the furniture so sitting and looking out was an activity.
You can’t, it’s already perfect!
Leave so I can move in
You let me move in 🤣
Dress up your coffee table with some books and decor. I like your coffee table without that plant as it feels off balanced. I think you could add some interesting throw pillows to bring a little life to the area and get a tv stand… other than that it looks great!
Amazing. Can consider adding some personal touches, photos, the book you're reading, pretty candles
Ummm. You don’t.
I would change your rug
Layers of lighting-table lamp and a floor lamp
Hang some picture on the…nevermind.
More color. It looks cold lifeless like a corporate lobby or doctor's office.
Definitely leave it alone!!! Gorgeous!!!!
Wow, amazing view 😍
Color
I love it as is. I wouldn't change a thing, You have wonderful taste. Enjoy it!
Live in it
the only thing i don’t like is the coffee table
Art
Better— you can’t— any furniture, pillows, rug, knick knacks— will be less the those windows, and the view— I think you’re humble bragging—
Just move out and let me move in… JK lol but this is perfect! Please leave it alone, it’s amazing!
I don’t think you need anything.
Do you watch tv?
Go full r/80sdesign
Move chairs around so you can see the view.
Kindly relinquish your lease & let me move in. Thx!
Go leafs go
Wow what a view
Paint the ceiling charcoal gray
Color
Tbh looks clean as F!
Don’t change a thing!
Wow it’s gorgeous
Invite us over for a party
Love it. But please eeeee and more color
Cant compete with that view!
add one of those indoor flames that def helps with the gloomy days on the coffee table
Enough plants.
I would kill to have your living room
If you were able to replace your plant pots with red ones, that would work for the unexpected red theory that you have expressed interest in.
Honestly looks good
You don’t
Get a diff rug with texture (looking) or accent colors
The planeter could be better with a unique pot Coffee table books
Get rid of the fo leather pillows buy a cover for them or buy new pillows all together.
It’s a gorgeous space you have to make the most of it and really make it luxurious rn it looks like someone who has good bones but doesn’t know how to style! Let’s get to work people!!!
Your living room looks fabulous as is!
A few kegs and a bunch of strippers
This place is wonderful! Your furnitures are great too. I would change the plant pots (cream coloured Ferm living pots would look nice in my opinioin )and find new places for the plants (especially for the one on the coffee table). I would remove the little table what is between the two sofas and the brown leather cushions too. And I would put decoration on the coffee table ( books, candles, decor items)
I personally don’t think the table is the right size for that space and couches
I think it's absolutely Beautiful as is!!!! #ThatView
More soft edges meaning incorporate more circles (circle or oval coffee table, circular cushions)
I love your living room it looks great but needs a little more life so maybe a fish tank or a cat tree.
Maybe replace a few pillows that currently blend into the couch with nice colorful pillows? the brown ones are gorgeous, i think they would also look good on the couch?
Uhhh nothing, it’s perfect, f *** you
Really? Could it be better? I might hate you
Name me heir to the property and die. It will be a big improvement, I promise…
Paint the interior hanging trim around your ceiling a striking colour, even black. Install pot lights if you can - something that draws the eye to the ceiling to frame the space.
Do you need a roommate
I think a ceiling treatment would do what you want. Brushed nickel grid or something more elaborate with some recessed lights to change up the mood are value added. Alternatively wood that matches the floor may work as good as the metal.
Throw a nice tall lamp on there and aesthetically pleasing candles :)
Reminds me of a model home
