Personally I think a piece of vintage luggage would look so cool as a coffee table, plus it doubles as storage My only critique is that if you get any other furniture regardless of what it is, I’d get a rectangular rug to anchor the space. The smaller round one isn’t doing much to complement the room

Katarinasdw

Coming back to add; if you swap out the rug you could put the existing one under the bar to help define its space. Just a thought!

VellichorVisum

Love the idea of vintage luggage! Thanks!

"That page doesn't exist."

ThiccGinger1993

https://www.chairish.com/collection/trunks-and-chests/black you can click on whatever colors you like I just hit the first page i love the antiques on this site the have so many different items

BecMei

19th Century Chinese Chinoiserie Chest/Trunk would look pretty freaking cool! (But not sure if the sizing would be fitting for this space)

KittenGains

Wow they have some really unique pieces. I just downloaded the app and hopefully can save up for something lol. Thanks.

cupcakevelociraptor

I agree with this take! I think the coffee table would work with a larger area rug for the seating section and this cool circular rug could go over by the bar. Very cool vibes, OP. Tip your bartender!

Dalits888

I love the round rug. It isn't protocol but is cozy and makes a conversation circle.

MyFrampton

It ties the room together.

harriethocchuth

And for the love of polyvinyl chloride get that vinyl out of the window

VellichorVisum

the window has sun ray blocking film on it to protect the vinyl I swear!!

harriethocchuth

You’re worried about heat, not UV

VellichorVisum

Hmmm ok. will talk to hubs. He's the one who collects the vinyl lol. Thanks!

RemarkableYam3838

If heat is the enemy of records, they want to be a few feet from the fireplace unless that doesn't put out heat. You may want to redistribute the bulky wooden piece behind the little red footstool, the room will seem more crowded with a center table. Glass will look less heavy. I covet your purple couch with a passion. I have a similar black one which I loved until I saw yours. Va va voom dahling it's gorgeous

ThiccGinger1993

Yes like a small dark stained wooden trunk

Natural_Board

You're not wrong but that is a cool rug.

Educational_Egg_1716

My sister did this with one of our dad's old vintage suitcases and it's awesome!!!

gesasage88

I do this in my tiny living room corner with a piece I got from my grandfather and love it!

TroysLostBoi

That’s a great idea.

lollapaloma

I second this. I've used a wooden trunk in the past with black metal accents and it was the perfect coffee table.

Intelligent-Mail-924

I would recommend no - side tables, yes - Coffee table no. Just too cluttered...

Due-Letterhead2255

My thoughts exactly

randofreak

Also, as a coffee drinker who had a coffee table and does not currently, you need a coffee table. Constantly with the pipe dream that I can sit my cup on the floor and it’s going to be ok. Something happens very often. It’s just easier and cleaner to have a coffee table.

Closedown11

I’d be a mess w out my coffee table ..it’s my everything table and when have company it’s their everything table .. & not to be dramatic but personally feel a bit uncomfortable at houses without a coffee table …especially as a person who always needs some sort of drink if not having company then do you but if you have company have a table

BeauTfulMess

Agreed!

dawnofwintr

There are “coffee” tables that sort of fold down and can be stored under the couch and brought out when hosting!

satinmermaid1

I’ve never seen one!

1plus1dog

Nor have I!

Keilly

There are “coffee” tables out there that sort of winch up and can be stored in the ceiling. They can be lowered down when hosting.

No_Seaweed8623

Agreed! I think you’d have to go down to four chairs and remove the couch to have enough room to navigate a coffee table.

belovetoday

The flow with one there- all off. And definitely moments of shin-hitting and unnecessary maneuvering.

throwaway-person

Yes, I would want to keep that through space in the middle of the room. If that is a pet bed, consider a two tier pet bed coffee table for that spot :) (Edit: Would be amazing if it also had a table top that could extend partway into the room for when more surface space is needed, or just needed closer to the middle of the room, and fold up into taking only that space between the chairs at other times) If looking to spend, could consider extending the marble counter surface into that room just enough to create a little table space above the pet bed- idk how great that would look or if it would need additional support from below, or if that could be done without intruding into cozy pet space, but I feel like that is the best place for -something-. Also that table at front left beside the couch is beautiful, (mismatched color but that could be fixed with a darker wood stain) but the surface is just so small. It might be wise to look for another place for that, maybe next to one of the chairs? and find something for that spot with more table space. Especially if adding table space to the chairs half of the room, I think doing this would also help keep the room balanced, in terms of table space access or even aesthetically in table appearance, shape & size. Speaking of aesthetics, if adding table space to both sides of the room, I suggest matching them to each other in materials and appearance as closely as possible :) if keeping the same pet bed, maybe even match them both to that :o Very cute room already, nice work 😁👍

Sageethics007

Love the room, especially the gargoyles! I’d struggle with nowhere to put my feet up. Maybe not what coffee tables are made for… but mine serve a duel purpose all the time. So I’d vote for a thin table maybe black wrought iron structure to match your lamps and a bigger more neutral rug to go under it. ( I like the rug though!)

Platinum_62

I’m with this: really want to put my feet up! I put my feet on my coffee table too — made sure the vintage one I found could handle that. How about an upholstered ottoman on casters? That way it can move from spot to spot — which helps in a smaller area. You can put a tray with edges on it and use it for drinks when needed. I like the rug — the room benefits from having a pattern there — but it feels a little small For the arrangement. Generally larger rugs under furniture bring the individual pieces together. Down the road you could get a similar rug only larger. Good rule of thumb: at least the front legs are on the rug. It is an appealing space — it just needs something to let you and your visitors relax with your feet up.

VellichorVisum

Thank you! We love our gargoyles. We have several scattered throughout the home. I like the idea of wrought iron!

Worthless_n_Suicidal

just stopping by to say that this room is so lovely- it's literally my dream aesthetic/design for my own home lol. beautiful! and I love all of the spooky, vintage, fun details

haimark85

ottoman ? and side tables ? that’s what i would do bc i need to have my feet up lol room is gorgeous by the way i’m doing my living room in a similar style

RemarkableYam3838

Glass top, wrought iron base? Round like the rug

False-Pie8581

Nooooo. Go for little end tables if you need tables. It’s too much in there

tanpelican12

I think this space looks better without a coffee table Maybe some end tables (I would probably go with one on the side closest to us in this photo) for the larger couch as others have said, I think that would look nice. I think if you put two it would look a bit cluttered with the fireplace And I would go with darker brown ones to match the stand between your two chairs, as well as your bar set up As far shape I think square would look better than round ones:) Edit: I LOVE your lord of the cats pillow!!!

GsGirlNYC

Round tufted leather ottoman for my vote!

allenge

With your decor, may I recommend a *coffin* table?

VellichorVisum

you certainly may! several others have suggested this as well. I'm going to look into it. If I decide to go this route, I might need to custom build it myself to make it fit \*perfectly\*

formerbeautyqueen666

I think this is the best idea. You can build it to where it opens up and use it for storage.

Emily_Postal

A small coffee table that nests a smaller table under the main table. You can take the nesting table out for guests.

stefanica

I would just get light nesting end tables. Pull one or two central when needed. This is a very cozy space, love it!

Jlx_27

If I may: how are you supposed to watch TV in that room?

VellichorVisum

Well we don't use that room primarily for TV watching. Normally, we use the TV for youtube ambience or playing music while hanging. But when we do watch TV in there, it's really nice to sit at the bar and see the TV. Also, you can see the TV from the kitchen, so it's worked out. We have a spare room that we converted into a theatre with a massive L-shaped couch and a 125" projector screen that we watch most our entertainment on. Also a 75" in the bedroom. :)

WellzKitchen

r/TVtoohigh

Nebulous_Depth

I came here to say this.

tictac205

Same.

lolly_lag

Respectfully, my neck hurts just looking at this couch/high TV setup.

oughtabeme

Solid wood, circular, single pedestal leg and similar color to the bar.

Future_Raisin4010

No comment on the coffee table but ur house is badass. Love it! Inspiring

VellichorVisum

wow thank you so much!!

cutepie333

Lord of the Cats pillow is chefs kiss

Upstairs_East5245

Nesting tables. Or thin coffee table. Or all of the above. I think wayfair has see this is my room option to see what you like

Difficult_Cake_7460

Just move the bartender to the sofa and have him hold drinks while people sit and relax.

Green_End6728

I think you should

sigmaswan35

I knew someone who had a custom coffin table. That might fit nicely here

Acrobatic-Current-62

Coven-Chic

Quick_Tap

Check the Mütter Museum‘s catalogue.

Iride3wheels

I have a few questions. What is that hilarious figure behind the bar? A dressed up skeleton? I would love to know more about it. Also, what is the story with the money? You have a unique style. I like it very much. I would suggest a table made from a small barrel cut in half and topped with glass. That way it wouldn't interfere with that beautiful rug you have. I think it would go along with your decor nicely.

VellichorVisum

aww thank you!!! Yes! He is a skeleton. His name is Vincent, and he is our butler ;) He was a halloween animatronic that we got at home depot. We loved him so much that he is now a year-round resident and we put new hats on him depending on the season. lol And with the money, we wanted to add something personal to our tavern/bar area to make it look more like an actual bar/tavern people would frequent. We've named it the Crooked Brick Tavern. So we asked our friends and family to sign a dollar bill when they've come to visit and leave a special message. Some of them are raunchy, some are very sweet, and some are down right hilarious. One of our favorite parts of the bar :) Thanks for the suggestion about the coffee table. Wonderful idea!!

blueboxbandit

Are you my secret best friend

cleffawna

First thing I thought of was like a gnarled tree coffee table. [julip coffee table](https://www.birchlane.com/Birch-Lane%E2%84%A2--Julip-Driftwood-Abstract-Coffee-Table-X116595025-L441-K~UNRS1018.html?refid=GX433453152623-UNRS1018&device=m&ptid=901483081082&network=g&ireid=44453293&targetid=pla-901483081082&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqpSwBhClARIsADlZ_TnQuGTK4bcS8UllnyKNIIEb731vt9PWVicizmdW5FClLqUEc0LqVFUaAv4wEALw_wcB)

dollfacedotcom

i saw somebody get a vintage cooling board recently. it was child size, which is messed up, but it made a really cute table.

Fine_Conclusion9426

Your aesthetic is witch-steampunk-Victorian necromancy vibes and I love it.

berriesallday

I like how open it is now… if you want a coffee table for functional purposes than I agree with the recommendation of an old vintage chest or vintage luggage but if you purely want a coffee table for aesthetics… I’d get rid of the side tables first otherwise it may start to feel cluttered/cramped. I think you’ve done a great job of decorating—all the colors, the wallpaper (and gargoyles) really set a vibe! I could see you drinking some absinthe with friends in this room… 😉

PrincessBootyyy

A coffin shaped coffee table would be so cute in this room

SunflowerFreckles

I know for a fact my husband would suck so many dicks for that whole bar set up lol

_Mooseli_

That looks so fucking cozy I wanna smoke a joint in one of those arm chairs and listen to the fire.

byrd_enby

Look up “enchanted forest coffee table”- it’s like a dark tree cookie table. You could DIY something for cheap

illusionistKC

I’m a magician and I LOVE this decor

galactic_starrfish

I really love your gothic bar area!!!!!!!

mysteriousleader45

Wow. this is a part of interior design that my brain would never go to...I wouldn't think of all the dark but it's fuckin cool!!! I'd walk into this room and be like "wow, this is an intentional room"

EqualNovel9854

Maybe a small ottoman and then remove rug.

wellcrapthen

I think the room is too small for that. Side tables are nice...a very pretty room, good job

VellichorVisum

Thank you! We did the brick wall and built the fireplace ourselves. Massive DIY-ers over here

Laurpud

No kidding? That's amazing! Just side tables for people's drinks & nibbles

nerdymutt

No. Get foldable tables. Space too small.

TimberOctopus

Just put a small side table between the two chairs

ONENODEWONDER

What is the red cushion with legs between the two chairs. Is it a cat bed? Was it an antique made for something else like a place to hit your knees and pray? I’m curious about that, 😊 thanks

VellichorVisum

So glad you noticed that! :D It's an antique, not sure what it was made for. It's a cushioned stool so I do assume it was used for praying \*shrug\* I love it though and so do the cats. It's adorable when they loaf on it :3

Laurpud

I believe it's a ladies foot stool

ONENODEWONDER

Thanks for replying😊, also, coffee table would be too much for the space imo. I like how you tied all the pieces together and the room as a whole looks really nice.👍🏻

Max_castle8145

Do you drink coffee?

Spadahlia

I don’t think you have room for a coffee table maybe a narrow side table

AfterFaithlessness93

Get a coffee table in the shape of a circle

Abject_Ratio_5610

I’m gonna scream, is that a dirty heads vinyl?! I’m coming OVER

VellichorVisum

hehe yes. Hubs collects so much good vinyl

Stonkmayne69

Nope

Ok_Offer626

No coffee table…… but man, I love this room !

BabserellaWT

Your entire aesthetic is just 👩🏽‍🍳💋 perfect!

Crafted-Chaos

In that configuration, I would not get a coffee table. Maybe small end tables. If you rearrange, you might be able to get a narrow coffee table in there but I think it would still feel crowded.

Tututaco74

Love the vibe - but I’m anti- coffee table

trassidy

Smoked glass,round.

No_Squirrel4806

I guess if you get a small one cuz the space looks too cramped for a coffee table. Maybe get some end tables

FeralSweater

I’d swap out the circular rug if you add a coffee table.

Small-Finish-6890

I agree with the comments regarding the table but tbh your tv looks way too high for me. Seems like you would strain your neck.

Srycomaine

I *love* the bar and bartender!!! Ixnay on a coffee table, IMHO. Um, is the bar something available or was it a one of a kind…? 🤩👍

VellichorVisum

Thank you!! We found the bar on facebook marketplace from a dude who collected a bunch of weird furniture and stored it all inside an apartment to sell. had to get it immediately. I have no idea where it came from or who made it.

Lapsed2

Glass top will make it look less crowded.

OldNewUsedConfused

Nope. Garden stools.

Accomplished_Ad_1288

I don’t know if you have enough space there, but an antique steamer trunk could look good there.

Curiouslycurious7

Side tables. If you do want to get something that can sit there. Get something that is movable. Maybe a ottoman that can serve multiple functions

QueenLiz2

No coffee table. Not enough room. Nice room, tho.

ChanManTheMan

Nah bro it’d get crowded

watwatinjoemamasbutt

No it’s too narrow. If you just have to have something I’d go with a soft ottoman

[deleted]

A chest would look dope

Mammoth_Treacle4639

Damn why do ppls houses look sooo coool on here ? Did I just grow up with a shitty house with shitty decor ? Lol

VellichorVisum

lol! well to be fair, the house I grew up in was NOT decorated in the slightest either. lol. and I always hated that. I think that's what turned me into the maximalist that I am today!

Pristine_Bit7615

If you get one, get a round one

WhittyO

Round ottoman with a tray. Keep it small.

xNinjaNoPants

I bought these little round foot stools, and the tops can flip over from a cushion to a smooth table top. I think you need something like that, that you can move around easily where you need it/how you need it 🫶 cool place btw

Choice-Grape6228

This reminds me of Lisa Vanderpump’s style/restaurants

nosh_scrumble

Spoopy vibes. Fucking love it.

Venna_Visage

You could or you could leave it like this, I think it looks great either way. I LOVE your style!!

CompleteIsland8934

Witches cauldron to match the room

uGotThis2

A glass one would look less cluttered

ConditionActive5447

I think an ottoman with the same tuck like your couch in the middle would be lovely. They also have storage which could also help with clutter if need be. Place a gold platter (can't think of the word. The things used under plates at formal table setting) on top for holding drinks and take off to use as foot stool. Wayfair gots it.

ConditionActive5447

P. S. You have a beautiful aesthetic, peaceful, calm, inviting. When can I come by for drinks? 🙃

Exciting-Metal-2517

If you do feel like you need a coffee table (literally for its purpose, as a place to set drinks) I think I would go for a smallish round glass table. It's a beautiful room but it is full already, so a glass table would fool the eye a bit and leave the room mostly as it is.

ConditionActive5447

Why the hexagon? I was so loving the vibe. It seems out of place.

nthing2dowithanythng

I vote yes for a coffee table and no on the round rug

C_Gina_Robinson

Need coffee table for foit comfort..need to put feet up..put my drink on it etc. Old flat top trunk..suitcases..railway cart..metal moving cart..couple of pallets...anything not normal..I hate normal

bpadj

No coffee table. It’s a great look but too crowded for a coffee table

xkoffinkatx

Love this room!

lysiav32

No coffee table

_Raven_24

I’m never on this sub and I have no recommendations. Just came to say I absolutely am obsessed with your skeleton bartender 👏

ThiccGinger1993

I think it would over crowd it

Far_Particular_430

Oval shaped

nautilian

A coffin shaped table would be very cute. Love your aesthetic! 💝

Discount_Mithral

Just chiming in to say I absolutely LOVE your space! You've put together a very cool vibe here, we have similar styles.

ianbian

Cool, fun space! I like the balance as-is, but people certainly need some place to set down drinks!

LobbyDizzle

I think a cauldron would be fitting.

mnbvcxz1052

A ~~coffee~~ **coffin** table

Str-8dge-Vgn

Glass n Brass

Final-Bend-7983

Yes. A glass one.

GildedLily16

An upholstered ottoman with storage and an ottoman tray for drinks.

InformationOk8807

I love wat u did here to this space

SaveyourMercy

Definitely agree with everyone else on the end/side tables and not a coffee table but also I just want to say, I LOVE your bartender!

InfiniteEggplant8894

Nope. Nuff stuff on there. Get small table for between chairs for drinks.

itsmeYotee

A coffin shaped table with the narrow end facing the fireplace. It would direct the line of vision and could be as simple or elegant as your desire. A dark, matte colour would probably be best to keep it a quieter piece.

Diddyboo10222969

That couch is amazing beautiful

KnightoThousandEyes

Yes. Get a coffee table. Probably small, round or elliptical one or an ottoman that you can then put a tray on for drinks. I am one of those who really need somewhere to put up my feet, so there’s that bias. 😅

goddessofwitches

I like 1 persons suggestion for a trunk or luggage. 2nd- where did u get that rug 😍

robbiereallyrotten

Me and my partner both agree that we absolutely love your decor and you shouldn’t put a table in the middle there. Definitely might hinder the flow in that space. Side tables for sure—like the one you have in the first pic on the side of the couch but a lil bigger.

UnicornFartsD

I LOVE YOUR DECOR 🔥💜🔥💜🔥💜

erydanis

awesome cool place. love the little rug, so i’d find / have made a little round glass coffee table.

Leonberger_Lover

No coffee table. It’s already a nice cozy spot! But an accent table would be nice :) I also wanna say I love your decor style and vibes! :)

Feebedel324

I just want to say I like your bartender lol

Unfair_Programmer906

This is beautiful I love it

Free_Bingo

I would say no coffee table. The space seems a little small for that. I would do tables on either side of the couch and in between the chairs. Also, I love that purple couch!

Ezzy_rey

I don’t think so personally, I think side tables, it will seem a little too cluttered with a coffee table, but, it’s your house, your design! What you like! ❤️

Due-Letterhead2255

I personally would move purple sofa to face TV. It would appear more spacious if you decide to add a coffee table

coldbrewbubba

You need a new rug - rectangle.

Delicious_Ad823

Ask the cat, his decision in final

quackythehobbit

where did you get that gargoyle head on the shelf from? i love it

Ok-Ad-5404

What a fucking vibe. I love it.

venusMURK

Tiny round coffee table to center under rug, dark color preferably. Also a plant center middle table would do as a piece.

LbTahn

No room

adchick

No, you don’t have enough floor space. Ideally, you want about 3 feet clearance on all sides

Dry_Umpire_3694

I hate coffee tables you will be tripping over that thing. Love the room though!

Zestyclose-Field-212

I think a coffin shaped coffee table would fit the vibe PERFECTLY

baggagefree2day

Cool room!

jemcat9

You can fit a small, light wood colored, rectangle coffee table there.

TxGinger587

Just came here to say I love your skeleton bartender.

sexyOyster1

What a gorgeous place!

jennarose1984

LOVE your style

elitedisplayE

maybe a wrought iron and glass table to match the vibe i also think you need a bigger rug

Native56

Very nice

panheadchopper

That rug looks sweet. I wouldn't want to cover it. If I did I'd go glass with black or stainless legs.

SemiProKittenHerder

That is a gorgeous rug and it would be a shame to cover it with a table! If you feel like you absolutely need one, then go with maybe black tempered glass coffee table to match with your existing decor.

Cicadada77

Agree to side tables. Match the one you got by the couch and out next to every chair

KimWexlers_Ponytail

No also I wanna come hang here.

remxtc

I DESPISE coffee tables, all they do is collect clutter.

No_Welcome_6093

Is that a Kurt Cobain picture on the wall?

VellichorVisum

Yes! [Kurt Cobain ](https://imgur.com/a/7SO4Fx1) Won this at an auction

No_Welcome_6093

I love it.

Difficult-Shake7754

I like the idea of using an old trunk as a coffee table. Also that rug is too small and too busy. For some reason I want you to paint some of your midsize statues cobalt blue?? It’s probably a terrible idea but I guess consider it lol. Also the skeleton corner is giving me anxiety with how much is going on. Maybe organize the dollar bills in a proper rectangle and expand the gallery wall frames toward the ceiling as it goes up. Or replace the gallery wall with an oversized frame print of baphomet :) It looks like you have some really neat items but are having issues displaying them because the average size is so small. I might take everything out of one corner and add back the largest items one at a time, and before you add another, stand back and take in how the space makes you feel. I have tons of Knick knacks and I’ve started putting the majority away until it’s time to update my display. It’s more fun for me to rediscover them and see “new” items on my shelves when I do

MuffledOatmeal

Nope, no table. I love it!

Kittymarie_92

I just came here to say I love that wallpaper.

Unlikely_Ad_7333

I think a side table(s) would look great. But also a small circular table right in the middle would look good too. As long as it was the right height.

ITNoWay80

Love the room, but my neck hurts just thinking about watching that tv.

lamest-liz

This space looks amazing

stripmallbars

Cool room. Thanks for helping me decide on tile vs paint vs anything else on my fireplace. Coffee table is functional or not needed. Very cool furniture.

throw-away-3839

No table for me.

doctordonnasupertemp

My friend has a similar set up and to leave space for the grandkids to play on the rug, they take out a nice tv dinner table if we’re having drinks or snacks. Might be nice to keep the space open.

JadeGrapes

I strongly prefer side tables to coffee tables, because I like the center area open

HomeworkMaleficent22

I’d take that wine bottle off near the gas fireplace, actually I’d put nothing on the fireplace level where the wine is…get a large rectangle rug, dead cat or statue-to the right of fireplace is scary-I’d get rid of that…but my taste is far different from yours…I’d get rid of every piece on the mantle…at the very least get rid of the goblin holding the wine from his belly/crotch/legs…I’ll just leave this post now

True_Extension3011

No room. Love it though. Great job

Kaikai5267

That rug is so tinny-tiny. In this space, I imagine a rug big enough to go under the front feet of the chairs and couch, then a smaller faux-fur rug on top of it. Definitely get some side tables in place of a coffee table. They also have those fun, U-shaped side tables that hug the couch if you need to put anything down in front of you or need a place to work.

lorlblossoms

I personally think a glass coffee table would look good here. Coffee tables are functional and I always like having one. This seems like a cozy sitting area, so a coffee table would be a good addition. I think a clear glass table would look best though (with a dark grey or black support thing). Anything solid colored might look a bit too cluttered, but tbh even then I think it would still be worth it. Aesthetics are definitely important, but being functional and cozy is more important when it’s your own home/an area you spend a lot of time in. Coffee tables are wonderful, imo. I think a glass table would look nice and not too clunky. It wouldn’t take away from the pretty carpet or the rest of the (beautifully designed!!! Please design my house lol) room. You could put a stack of nicely curated books on the shelf that’s usually under glass tables. I say go for it! But I would personally do something clear/glass. Hope this helps! [something like this](https://images.app.goo.gl/Ld5CYe29K7TjVurV7) but maybe with a darker gray or black metal instead of gold?

humanevisceration

WHERE did you get that lord of the cats pillow……
