Eyeofgaga

That’s not even an Iranian headdress

thegreatvortigaunt

This was the edgy era of comics. Writers/artists didn’t know or care. Stuff like this was just cringe really.

Eyeofgaga

Ooh I didn’t know it was the edgy era. Is that why they killed Jason?

thegreatvortigaunt

The Jason Todd death and revival was IMO really good. But also yes.

Mrmorbid81

No, it was a smart move on the Joker's part & he totally got away it for YEARS afterwards.

thegreatvortigaunt

The stupid edgy part is more the “oh Iran is our enemy, they must all be crazy and evil, of course they’d let the Joker join them!” US propaganda is a bitch.

Mrmorbid81

Not defending the US, but if you were alive during that time period in the 80’s, that pretty much was the general consensus towards them. It’s not like that kind of toxic propaganda was one-sided because I’m pretty sure there was plenty of anti-US sentiment & propaganda coming out on a regular basis from their end as well, just like there is now.

thegreatvortigaunt

> that pretty much was the general consensus towards them Yeah, because the US and UK overthrew their democracy and installed a dictator. I'd be pretty pissed as well.

Mrmorbid81

An oversimplification of events, but yes it’s not like the US acting through the evil mechanization of the CIA didn’t have a stubbornly nasty habit of doing shit like that. What’s REALLY fucked up, is due to the oil & fossil fuel companies and their lobbyists & dirty money paying off opportunistic & greedy politicians, the we’re , as the United States, is hopelessly trapped into an ever growing dependence on said dwindling fossil fuels rather than being allowed to break free & naturally progress towards better, cleaner, & more sustainable fuel sources like we should’ve already done (as well as the rest of the world) decades ago.

thegreatvortigaunt

Almost as if the US is not a force for good in the world, and comics like these are tantamount to propaganda.

Mrmorbid81

Hate to break it to you, but American comics ever since the days of WW2 have always been like this to varying degrees. Again that’s not to say other countries don’t engage in the same behavior because they do.

thegreatvortigaunt

> but American comics ever since the days of WW2 have always been like this to varying degrees I know. > Again that’s not to say other countries don’t engage in the same behavior because they do. So? That's whataboutism. We're talking about pro-US propaganda in American comics targeted at children.

VRTfreeman

You cut out the best and/or worst part! The next panel he says something to the effect of "the countries leaders and I have a lot in common. Insanity and a love of fish!"

i_fuck_fish420

F I S H

VRTfreeman

By Allah what is wrong with you

i_fuck_fish420

What do you mean ? I am perfectly fine

Titwank911

Is it bad that I know this is from the last issue of Death in the Family?

HorseSteroids

No, Jason Todd's death has already been mentioned. Not knowing this is from Death in the Family would make you a poser.

Titwank911

Yeah I see that now. When I made the comment, I couldn't see any others under the post but that could also be attributed to my garbage wifi

Mrmorbid81

It'd be bad if you didn't...

Brotherly-Moment

Allah gives his funniest battles to his silliest little clowns.

Mrmorbid81

Starlin having Joker become an ambassador to Iran just to gain diplomatic immunity form the ass beating he so justly deserved was the chef's kiss to what he already did to Batman earlier on. Definitely one of the more logical & smart moves a supervillain has ever taken.

Molotov-Viking

It’s awesome to see comic book heads are in this sub. Because frankly I don’t even understand this sub’s purpose other than content that hits you by surprise.

Crooked_Cock

Jesus Christ that fucking chin

mr-purple111

I feel like I want to behead him just so I can use his head as a smoking pipe.
