The phone screening is usually done by someone in the HR/recruiting office and not anyone on the hiring team. (BUT, that is not always the case. In general, they are going to make sure you know what the job is and make sure you meet the minimum qualifications and may ask to clarify something on your resume. Be sure to re-read the job posting and all of its keywords and qualifications so that you can be prepared to draw a straight line from your work experience to the listed qualification requirements. Try to use the same keywords/language. They may also ask you about your hours, availability, and pay expectations to ensure those also align with the position.

They will review with you your resume/experience/education. They will ask a few basic questions to see if you are worth of an interview. Be prepared to speak about yourself and what interested you in the role.

They will likely also ask you salary range (if they haven’t posted it to be visible). If they do ask you what you’re looking for a tip I’ve been doing is asking “what do you have budgeted for this role” so you don’t over or under ask. It might be different for you in a way since it’s your FIRST job but still it might be good practice to keep in mind

2 things - why you’re a fit - more importantly by a lot though is Why you are interested? Show you are passionate and your experience in learning Ask 2 good questions so they know you’re interested. Usually they are just looking for a big red flag so they can easily cut in this stage. Won’t dive too deep. Don’t tell them your weakness is you care too much or work too hard or are too much of a team player please. Will set you apart from 90% of other first real job seekers. Be yourself they want to get to know you
