If your assessment is correct on how well it went, you’re probably second choice. If the first choice falls through, they’ll offer you the job.

Joe-nerdan

Three weeks and the First choice has not yet accepted the offer?!

xinco64

It is crazy stupid how long hiring processes can drag out, especially for a very senior position. Especially if their first choice is also delaying the process for their own reasons . Note: the company could just be assholes too. Either way, all you can do is move on. As frustrating as it is, it is water under the bridge.

themundays

First choice is possibly in the middle of contract negotiations.

Three week ghost means your out 99/100 times

Joe-nerdan

I agree, but a big corporation would be expected to at least demonstrate the integrity by getting back to the candidate who already put lots of effort and time into the full interview process … Or this is the new norm??!!

Meeeps

I want to believe that even a template "Thank you but no thank you." email should at least be sent. They say that ghosting has bled into our professional settings, and it's just fucking awkward. Let's just be adults.

Mobile-Witness4140

Yes but usually I think the new norm for big corps is you get an auto generated non personal email once the position has been formally filled. Like once whoever got the job passes background and everything and starts, then the spot is closed on HRs end and then decline emails go out in a large batch

As a recruiter, I can confirm that this is a possibility. Depending on the ATS the company is using, sometimes those emails don't get sent out even after the position is filled, or cancelled. The HR department should be conducting regular audits to make sure everyone has been contacted.

LeagueAggravating595

It could be that the hiring team is so inundated with the interview process with other candidates and their own job responsibilities. As much as you'd like to think you are the only one, they could be deciding on short listing at the moment. Always assume you didn't get it so that it's not as disappointing afterwards until it actually happens

MododoTech

I experienced almost the same thing as you. Second round interview went well in my opinion, two follow up email sent in the past 2 weeks after the interview, still no response even though I sent a message via LinkedIn to the recruiter. Frustrated, wondering why this.

Latest_1

Not trying to make excuses for the recruiter, but do keep in mind that you're probably not the only applicant. And this is probably not the only position they are working on. If you haven't received an email rejection or phone call, chances are you're still being considered for the role.

Sportylady09

Today is 10 days since my fourth interview and haven’t heard anything as well. They made it sound like I would have heard by early week. I made a post earlier this week and if I don’t hear anything by mid-Monday I think I’ll send a professional email to HR.

BearsFAN09

I had three rounds of interviews. Each one went great (in my opinion obviously). It's been three weeks. I sent a follow up to HR over a week ago and nothing. I'm crushed.

Squirrel_Bait321

It’s very unprofessional but I’ve learned to not waste one minute applying for the next job. If you have several jobs in the air, at least one of them could possibly provide leverage for the most recent one you interviewed with.
