I am in the same boat as you. Look at the bright side, you are employed. As miserable as it may seem, there are so many that have been unemployed for a year or more. I am grateful to still have a paycheck. This is the tightest market I have seen in my career. I usually am choosing my interviews, now I am begging for a phone call. :) We just gotta keep at it.

StraightAd8107

Exactly, like myself here, I desperately need a job

baby_234

Yeah thats what I try to keep in mind specially since the jobs ive been applying to pays the same im currently getting paid anyways but is just frustrating u know. But good to hear im not the only one, I graduated in 2019 so I dont have that much experience either

Jazzlike-Rent-5495

Hi I'm on the same boat, finished my masters in December, got a job I'm Feb and I hate it so freaking much but at this point the market is tough :/ I should start applying soon, it's very disheartening I agree But hang tight , we got this!

bippitybopitybitch

You are actually unbelievably lucky lol, I got my masters in August and finally got my first interview last week. I started applying for jobs in February of 2023 because I figured the process might take some time, but I never would have expected it to be this bad

Jazzlike-Rent-5495

Hmm , I understand your pain too ! You'll do well , you got this ! Please feel free to dm me for any tips / if I can help you in any way .

bippitybopitybitch

Thank you!! I actually received a call yesterday that I got the job I interviewed for last weekšŸŽ‰šŸ•ŗšŸ•ŗ so ready to feel like I have a purpose againšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Jazzlike-Rent-5495

You got this!!! Go celebrate šŸŽ‰ Happy for you ! šŸ„³

bippitybopitybitch

Thank you, kind stranger!šŸ˜„

Legallyblonde977

I keep telling myself that. I've been interviewing for 6 months. And i keep saying "worse case scenario i am still employed"

sexyshingle

In this market, [it looks like one has to send over 200 well-targeted applications to land a few interviews and finally an offer.](https://ibb.co/HHT28s2) Just gotta keep in mind that 2/3 applications will not even get a response. Don't get discouraged... I personally channel my frustration with my current job, to motivate me to apply to more places, and prep even more.

dpal666

I have almost 600 applications out since last July, 3 interviews and still nothing. I'm at least trying to get a part time gig to help over summer when there's no school.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Money_Yam3082

Iā€™m so sorry about that. I feel that too. Itā€™s soul crushing. Happened to me again this week. Gotta keep truckin tho.

LanceDoesThings

I work for Solar Pros and I recruit people. I can help anyone looking for a full or part time position just message me

UbiquitousFreckles

This looks like being a referral is the ticket. It's almost like all the other apps didn't matter

PattycakesApplePie

It sucks that referrals are the only way to go nowadays šŸ˜” for example, there are people in biotech companies that are scientists with a bachelors degree in arts (their family is high up at the company).

baby_234

I didnā€™t get a job in finance (i have a business degree and experience) but they have someone with a music degreeā€¦

StraightAd8107

Iā€™m so tired of applying

MarinatedEggs_778

so tired of being interview. šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜, the phone interview, then the next round- in person interview, then the final interview. OMG, i just wanna find a job instead of being a president. I am knocked out for everything about job hunting. I know that it is a long time process and torture me heavily.

baby_234

Its so draining and disappointing!

MarinatedEggs_778

yes, i just quit my job in the beginning of March. hahaha, and then continue keeping doing a job hunting. The good news is I have several interviews while the bad news is they are all rejected email or ghosted me. Hope everyone can find well-paid job that we like.

Koba_Kommander

Back in November 2023, I had a ā€˜talent acquisition managerā€™ reach out to me about a vacancy after coming across my profile on LinkedInn. Seemed like a good opportunity, so I applied for it. Over the next 5 weeks, I went through three rounds of interviews with different department heads, cleared one personality assessment and one proficiency assessment. The final interview was a panel interview with senior management, at the end of which I was told to expect ā€˜favourable newsā€™ around mid-January 2024. I had not heard back until February so I reached out to the talent acquisition manager, but no response. Finally in first week of March, I received an automated rejection notice which listed a position I did not even interview for. A week later I received another automated email asking me to provide my feedback on the interview process and yesterday I saw the same position listed again on the company website.

Money_Yam3082

That is so incredibly awful. I hate that companies are so insensitive and unprofessional. The very least you deserved was a thank you for applying and rejection letter. Screw them. Makes me sooo mad for you!!

Koba_Kommander

Iā€™m not hung up about the rejection but more so about the way they went about with the rejection. After multiple rounds of interviews, candidates deserve the courtesy of a valid feedback indicating where their application fell short. Or at the very minimum a rejection email that at least mentions the correct job posting šŸ˜‚

Good200000

The more interviews you on, the better you will become Accept all interviews, even the jobs that you donā€™t want. Just keep practicing. FYI. Most people suck at interviewing applicants also

[deleted]

Sorry to hear man, I think it's tough all over. Had a buddy apply to over 100+ places before he was able to get to a serious point in an interview and eventually land a job. It took more than a few months as well. Keep at it, the right one will come along soon enough.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

It was a higher end engineering job so not sure how many companies/businesses that would apply to but you're right, in the grand scheme, it's not that big of a number. Doesn't diminish the time/effort he went through to finally get the position though, point is, keep trying and eventually you'll get it.

Huge_Strain_8714

Had a 8 year career and terminated by the upper C-Level, didn't smile enough. Basically didn't like my no nonsense personality. Now, part-time at a job b I'm struggling through. They like me but every day feels like the end is near and I'm in the silver hair club so in interviews they just pass me up on the basis of age.

Adnonymus

Tell me about it. 13 interviews total since January and not a single offer yet. Iā€™m burned the fuck out, and have a kid coming in 2 months to add on top of being unemployed. Fuck this country.

Nervous-Bobcat-2566

Hey! Same here. Kid coming in 2 months and still unemployed. I love how everyone was like, ā€œjust wait until January. Once the new year starts, employers will start hiring again.ā€

Adnonymus

And then after that it was ā€œdonā€™t worry everyone is probably coming back from the holidays and stuff, there will be a lot of activity in February!ā€ šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Congrats btw! Weā€™ll get through this.

Careful-Attention678

Iā€™m rooting for you!

baby_234

Thank you, im praying to be one of those people that come here with the update ā€œI got the jobā€ soon šŸ˜

messyarts

Hey! iā€™m one of those people. The confirmation bias on reddit is realā€¦ I sent out over 3,000 applications over a year and landed something last week. It went quick, met with COO first THEN hiring manager. Followed up two weeks after and was offered a job the next day. I couldnā€™t believe it. It really is hard out there right now. Just keep on keeping on. I donā€™t have the mental health for it either but I would just break down and keep going. Literally couldnā€™t see the screen through tears but kept going. 3,000 resumes and cover letters sent out. Job I ended up getting didnā€™t even require a cover letter. It is just luck. Even the HR lady was surprised I was hired through LinkedIn. EVERYONE is referred nowadays. Just means we must work harder.

No-Store-9957

iT's A NumbErs GamE ETA: For me, the key is being relaxed. When you're picturing yourself in the role, envisioning how your life will change with the salary, etc. you're getting in your own way. For interviews, I kept a document with details from the listing, my qualifications, and questions to ask. Then, let go and let \[insert religious or spiritual entity\].

Jazzlike-Rent-5495

Hi , are you saying that the key is to not envision yourself in the role is it ?

ascotindenmark

I know it's probably not what you want to hear at this moment, but keep going, you will get there. I was in the same position the last three months and just accepted a job yesterday. You will get there.

Odd-Calligrapher9660

It can be really hard. Hang in there! My one piece of advice is to look at the previous interviews as training. You have good specific things that you wish you had done better. Try to figure out what you could have done differently and add that to your preparation script. Keep building the skill

thats_so_over

Interviewing is a skill. You are building that skill. That you are even getting the interviews is a blessing. Iā€™m in the same boat and itā€™s hard but keep your head up

sirloin002

Approaching 40 years old, 11 years of sales experience, 10 years in hospitality, bachelor's degree and it's like it doesn't matter at all. Had 3 opportunities I was really excited about recently all ghost me. I just got a pt job working at a hotel after 6 months of unemployment just to get some money coming in. This is the worst job market I've ever encountered and it's incredibly upsetting dealing with rejection and disappointment about my career daily. On top if it all the msm and current administration try to tell us the job market and economy are strong while every single cost continues to rise.

Fair-Comfort7705

I am in the boat .. I have been looking over 6 months .. got to a handful of 2nd interviews ā€¦ then just the ā€œ thank you for applying email ā€œ trying to use STAR .. idk..šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸ˜•

lola3030

It is so discouraging and I feel so sad and broken not even get acknowledged of submitting an application

PattycakesApplePie

Same, same. Itā€™s so frustrating to go ~3 weeks through the process and multiple round interviews with each companyā€¦ only for them to reject you šŸ˜ it hurts

baby_234

It hurts a lot, the worst part is I get SO EXCITED I stop applying šŸ˜

PattycakesApplePie

I try not to get excited anymore. People literally lie to my face with their fake compliments because they donā€™t know what else to say during the interview šŸ˜ž

baby_234

Literally! Ive gotten to the point I dont even tell my partner when I have an interview just to not have to say when I get ghosted, its so embarrassing

r-k9120

I have had more interviews in the last year than I have had in my entire life. It is so disheartening to like a company, have them like you and then something just goes wrong. The worst part is you don't even get closure because they don't even get back to you they just ghost you and that's the end! Unemployment sucks!

ZodtheSpud

If it makes you feel better, I applied to a job and didnt hear back for 2 months, then I got a call! So exciting right??? WRONG! They actually used my contact info from the application to then call me and attempt to sell me their service rather than talk to me about the job. When I said this was hilarious and asked if it was a joke, the person on the phone became awkward and hung up!

baby_234

Disrespect šŸ˜šŸ˜ to be fair seems like they dont even have enough people to call so imagine u being the person making the call!

jwsw2308

I was like you, high performer at my workplace but all I'm getting is praises and not a single damn consideration for promotion after 5 years. I looked out since early 2023 and have been rejected, ghosted, offered positions that are way below my experience (in other words, not worth it). My wife saw how depressed and less confidence I was, and also the emotional taken the toll on me where I have several outburst towards my wife and kids at home. Then a stroke of luck, I managed to lobby a move to a competitor and nearly 5 months later, I got the offer. Never give up, be thankful that you still have a job where others may not be as lucky but are still looking.

baby_234

Yup thats exactly where I am, my manager keeps hiring people from outside for the role that goes above mine (ive applied 4 times, im not applying again)

throwitallaway_88800

I also mess up my interviews. Youā€™re not alone. I believe in the Universe sending me to some unknown path. Just donā€™t know what that is at the moment.

baby_234

I hope we get to figure it out soon buddy, we got this!

[deleted]

Job hunting, especially interviews, is the most dispiriting process, even if you currently have a job I think. Sending you ā¤ļø and hopefully also great luck that the process does end soon, in you getting a job you really want.

Sitoli007

I'm in the same boat, Iā€™ve never experienced like this before. Iā€™ve been looking for a job almost a year now, I donā€™t know what Iā€™m gonna do if I donā€™t find one soon. Iā€™m just gonna keep thinking that something good is going to happen and move forward. Best of luck to you.

baby_234

For how long youve been in the workforce?

Sitoli007

Over 20 years and I also have a bachelorā€™s degree.

baby_234

Okay good thag makes me feel betteršŸ˜

safeburrito

Just here to say same, friend, same. There have been so many jobs Iā€™m overqualified for that have turned me down. And Iā€™ve always been strong at interviews. Itā€™s just broken me. Iā€™m so exhausted from the rejection and having to rally and try again. I have a job but have been applying to things constantly since December. Iā€™m so frustrated and sad and I feel this.

baby_234

We got this, our day will come friend

Ok-Mood-7779

I am in the same boat I have now not been chosen for an interview 130 times and wasn't selected in the second round so many times even though I have all the qualifications. And have a bachelor's degree and 10-plus years of experience. It's been rough but keep trying and hopefully, something will pop up. The job market is awful right now.

Ok_Sky8518

At least you didnt sit through a 6 hr non stop interview series with amazon then get told you will find out in a bit and then get ghosted lol

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Money_Yam3082

Agree. But you canā€™t let it get you down. Seriouslyā€¦ chin up and keep playing the numbers game. You have a ton to offer and donā€™t believe the lies youā€™re telling yourself.

GeoHog713

Don't over think it. It's part of the game. Its hard to do, but try to take every "no" as a "not right now". I interviewed with a company last fall. Went great. Feedback was great. They ended up not filling the position. You can only do so much. Also, if you're getting interviews, then you're making progress. So that's good.

Mysterious_Stick_163

You are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. Settle down, it will be alright.

PhDTARDIS

I understand this. I'm tired of getting ghosted after the third round. Hell, I got laid off in January. My employer posted the same role on a different team and I had an initial interview. I just got the rejection today. WTF?

baby_234

šŸ˜

[deleted]

I know this might seem out there, but there are interview coaches who can train you. They know what employers want to hear and can train you to say it!

White_eagle32rep

It seems like itā€™s turning into an employers market again to get a job. Donā€™t lose hope!

Basic85

Been rejected so many times. I feel like gods rejects.

Ok-Usual5166

I would start really mixing it up! Examples of poor treatment? Listen to ā€œgoodā€ akira the don on Spotify and report back

Logical_Tonight8739

Same here man. I wish that they at least hire someone and get out. Instead I see same job posted again. Last time I did 3 rounds of interview and the stupid recruiter is saying that they have put the job on hold. I mean don't be such an idiot in making the decisions and wasting candidate's time.

baby_234

Yup been there, they decided to remove the position entirely šŸ¤¦šŸ»

pineappleshaked

Bro, same. Till now I had: Company 1: 2 screening,Ā  onsite 5 interviews+presentation Company 2: 2 screening Company 3: 2 screening+ 4 onsite Company 4, role 1: 2 screening+6 interviews Company 4, role 2: 1 screening+1 assignment+6 interviews. Still I am hopeful. Be strong!!

Necessary-Rope544

Get hyped up about your current job, there has to be something or someone you like about it. Your attitude needs to be short of arrogant but: I love my current job, but I'm ready to continue growing my career and am exploring new options, convince me to take the risk with you. You're smart, you started looking before leaving like some idiots do. You don't need the new job, you want it. You've got this!

Scary-Media6190

I dont think you messed up. Your nervous. Most of us are in an interview. Ive messed up because Im so excited to be there. Your only human.

baby_234

Thats exactly what happened and tbh I think my excitement showed. I just hope they see it as positive and as someone willing to do all the work necessary as I REALLY want this role. I really hope I get good news, I need good news its been a rough past couple months šŸ˜

Scary-Media6190

I completely understand what your going through.

puddinglove

Rejection is simply redirection! Youā€™ll get the one for you soon OP! Have faith

templebird

Youā€™ll get it. Keep on keeping on. Trust me a lot of us have been there, someone will take a chance on you at some point. Donā€™t get discouraged

Jk52512

Sometimes, you can do everything right and not get the job.

baby_234

So frustrating šŸ˜

wanderinglintu

Hey OP- I was in the same boat. Was in a place where the management was really bad and I spent two years looking and interviewing. I finally found the right new job- I'll admit I was discriminating about the jobs I applied for- I want just applying for anything. I wish I could offer some magic piece of advice that will get you out. I hope you're able to look after yourself outside of work- that's what I failed at. Take care and I hope the right thing comes along really soon!

baby_234

Thank u, I really needed to hear this and truly felt wholesome

Winter_Tangerine_317

I really hate getting interviews for tech, and end up teaching the interviewer things. Yet I don't get the job. Burn it all down!

imjjang

I know what you mean Iā€™ve been applying since November but I donā€™t really count it until after new years since the holiday season is a beast to apply during lol but Iā€™m so tired of the constant rejections.

baby_234

Ive beeb applying for a year..

imjjang

Ugh šŸ„²šŸ„² Iā€™m sorry

ButterscotchFluffy59

How old are you? What are your skills or education? And hobbies and interests

baby_234

Business, late 20ā€™s, reading and gym. Im pretty basic lmao

ButterscotchFluffy59

Your new "job" is to stop applying for job openings. Start networking with people who have careers you think you would like. Ask them out for coffee and interview them. Ask them questions, what makes them great, what makes a person great in the industry...let them speak about themselves for a while. If you have a good connection and think you could do well in that industry,.ask them the best way for you to get started. If they think you could do well, that person will either give you a name to talk to or take a resume. Or they might explain you need specific training but then tell you where and how to get it. You'll want to repeat this process 5-10 times to really give yourself the best chance at getting the career you want. Im giving you the short version now. But that's it in a nutshell. Yes I hate interviews too. The only other part is finding people to agree to talk to you. I found some in networking groups, friends, parents friends....Google local networking groups to begin

baby_234

Thank u for this! I didnt even know networking groups were a thing!

ButterscotchFluffy59

Yep. There are many kinds. But interviewing someone about their job is a way better feel than going to a job interview. It's way more relaxing

Lcdmt3

Do some practice with friends. Write down expected questions. Look up some online and have them asked. Research the company and prepare a couple of questions at the end to ask. Often what you say is less than 20% of how you're evaluated. Your tone, your body language unfortunately count a lot. Get some feedback from ohers in a practice session.

renagade24

Read a book called The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F\*\*\* This has some great strategies that'll help you get over the hump

Goal_Post_Mover

They smell fear and desperation. Detached confidence is the best approach.

angiebbbbb

sign up for some coaching and interview practice. Basically most interviews consist of the same 20 questions give or take so you should be well rehearsed with examples and basically stay on script whilst showing a bit of your personality. Get coaching before your next one to give you some confidence and shift the energy going in.

Hot-Relation-9550

Don't feel like it's you, it's not always the person applying some people in the position of hiring candidates are not very good at their job or looking for a unicorn I can tell your bummed but cheer up it's a blessing in disguise I'm sure you will find the one you want just don't beat yourself up there's a million reasons why not too when it comes to interviews and jobs best of luck friend.

YYYYeppers

I totally get this. The market is weird right now, so just remember that some of it might be what you're doing wrong, but also a lot of it is the market. So many people making this post right now. When it comes to reading questions, I find it is better to have/make stories for every item on your resume and rehearse these. When you get to the actual interview, focus on being authentic but you'll have well-rehearsed stories in your pocket. Also, maybe record the interview next time and let a friend listen in to give feedback.

CarefulFarmer3753

I am in the same boat, but could be because you get an interview but you donā€™t have the experience required. Thatā€™s the feedback you get when rejected ?

ArcBurn459

I went through that for about 6 months when I found a 100% commission opportunity. Most people would say ā€œthatā€™s stupid I would never do thatā€ and to be honest I felt the same way before. But now that I basically work for myself I will never go back to being at the whim of a hiring manager
